ITT artists you liked until you found out about their beliefs.
Pic related for me.
That's why I try to stay away from anything about the artist. I just want to hear the music separate from anything else.
I know I'll think differently of the music if I find out something even if I actively try to ignore it, so I just stay away from any outside information.
Yep, and /mu/ is by far one of the most liberal boards on this website.
You mean Low's members are Mormons and their beliefs have absolutely nothing to do with the music they make.
>Low are Mormon
Well, this completely ruined my day. I knew that band was too good to be true.
>Letting an artist's personal beliefs diminish your enjoyment of the art.
Are you people that closed-minded? I mean, I understand if you don't want to associate yourself with an artist if they are either bad or their art and beliefs coincide and you just don't agree.
look guys we got a real patrician over here
they circumcise eachother for fun while sucking on throbbin dong
Not as much his beliefs, more just the fact that he could be this stupid. http://pitchfork.com/news/46626-action-bronson-stupidly-posts-photo-of-drunk-mexican-tranny-rightly-gets-in-trouble/
Beck's a Scientologist.
I'm just putting it out there.
I was furious after they released the album "niggas on the moon". There is only one black guy in the group, zach and flatlander are not "niggas"
as a black man this make me angry so I stopped listening to death grips, except for the money store because that album is still really good
>I stopped listening to death grips, except for the money store because that album is still really good
Then you still listen to Death Grips, as Money Store is an album by Death Grips.
The author is dead, if you're considering context in a serious way when considering any medium you're detracting from the piece itself and giving it more lee-way than it deserves.
No, but I'm not going to stop enjoying an artist's art because I disagree with their personal religion, politics, etc. Especially if it has little to no actual influence on their art.
you know how you can tell that isn't entirely accurate? because the listener doesn't feel like they're being browbeating into accepting some ideology. everyone's musical output will be influenced by their beliefs more or less, but the worst art is mere propaganda and i think low avoids that.
>you know how you can tell that isn't entirely accurate? because the listener doesn't feel like they're being browbeating into accepting some ideology.
Not that anon but being heavily influenced by and actively promoting aren't necessarily the same thing.
>influenced by god or Christianity
Which is why he came out with a Christian album and his most recent album of his own songs had allusions to books found in the Bible but no other religious texts, right?
Right? I lived in Utah for a while and even though I'm generally Catholic every Mormon I've ever met was as nice as nice can be. Also Mormon moms are god tier cooks. I slept over at friends houses just to eat there.
>It's okay not to like an artist because they believe an evil intergalactic overlord genocided all the aliens in the universe then dropped their corpses into the volcanoes on Earth then impregnated their souls in the human race, but it's not okay to not like an artist because they believe magic sky man sent his only son to forgive the world's wrong doing by committing suicide then coming back to life a few days later as if nothing happened
