everything but the girl
swing out sister
everyone asked about you
siouxie and the banshees
The tuneyards are great, what are you on about?
OP check out the Cardigans, you'll love them
Bjork hasn't been mentioned?
>Not a single mention of BYOP!
What the fuck
>And not a single mention of Dead Sara
>Or Anna Calvi
Does anyone on /mu/ listen to Waxahatchee or Swearin'? They're both pretty good, though not really my favorite. Kinda have a thing for Katie Crutchfield, pic related
Camera Obscura are good, Chvrches are shit, Nouvelle Vague are a band I've never heard of but I just saw that they covered XTC and that's alright with me. I've never tried listening to Honeyblood.
Dead Sara. Two women in front and two men holding down the rhythm. The correct answer.
That's a good assessment actually. I played along to my girl's Cerulean Salt record and thought, "dang I could have written this album in a day." Which, again, is not to say that it's bad music.
Think it's way better than the s/t. 8/10 for me. Loving the consistency, vocal performances, layered guitars, and stronger songs. Feel Right at Home/For You I Am is one incredible closer. For You I Am has the potential to be my SOTY.
I agree it isn't bad music. but you're right, someone who's knowledgeable on guitar could have probably churned out an album like it at a pretty fast pace. To me the blandness of it is more annoying than something abrasive like perfect pussy, because even PerfectPussy at least tries to be adventurous with it's sound.
How could you guys have gone this whole thread with no mention of Portishead?
Can we just turn this into a Siouxsie Medley appreciation thread?
I'm absolutely on board with this.
that's how she's marketed, but she only plays guitar and writes, the rest of the band is important
kinda like how haim is marketed as 3 girls but there's other musicians in the band
CC wouldn't be shit without alice
Not to mention she's played more than one instrument on all her albums but S/T. Go look at Marry Me's credits. She can play guitar, bass, drums, synths, piano/keyboard, sand more all to a certain extent. Hell, she was in a band where she played bass. She's played bass with John Vanderslice.
Red Sparowes, Marriages or pretty much any of Emma Ruth Rundle's projects.
Also Chelsea Wolfe.
Ever heard Marissa's solo stuff?
not a band but Zoë Keating has been on repeat a lot now for me. Her music is so fucking good.
Her music is nothing "amazing" but her vocal range and character/persona is out of this world
no it is, I'm just saying 99% I never ever ever ever hear a woman play a good 'riff'. they just have a different way of playing guitar and I don't know why, it's weird. it's not a bad thing because most riff rock sucks dick, im just saying.
This is my personal favorite Dead Sara song, and proof that Siouxsie Medley has more up her sleeve than we think. Plus Emily Armstrong's vocals on this song are out of this world.
Not to mention Siouxsie's a QT >>55351572
I remember when I was 15 and I thought hearing something like was is kinda cool.
>ctrl + f
Don't want dick tonight, eat my pussy right
>Rickie Lee Jones
Not a band but she's cool non the less.
