Which bands from the 2010's will go down as legends? Beach House is one of them for sure.
Ive kinda realised there are hardly any modern bands I'm really into besides Radiohead and HANL.
I think in today's modern era with the ability to write and record entire albums in your bedroom a lot more "bands" are actually solo artists who recorded everything themselves then assembled their own live band.
Thus they have less creative issues and sharing.
This is basically the "omg so groundbreaking" of 20 years from now
To be fair though, what was the last album released by a pop star that was both non-trendy and AS relevant as this. This album is a huge deal
Not by commercial standards but critically its possible, their albums are getting even better and better and Teen Dream is kind of a classic. it all depends how their next record is. They are getting popular though.
Why is this such a bad thing? It's a good album. I can almost feel you all trying to hide your bitterness because you don't want this record to be remembered...
Not as much his albums on their own, but Flylo has influenced more bedroom producers than anyone else in the last 5 years. Also Brainfeeder as an entity is growing, and he and Thundercat hugely impacted the sound of TPaB
Mainly though, I predict Flylo's influence will grow in the future and he will be sort of an MF DOOM father figure to alt hip hop
I'm your third reply
I said "this album is a huge deal", I do support it being remembered. The only slightly negative thing I said was that its influence might be exaggerated to ungodly levels. I actually think its 9/10
lol no they wont. No one even really knows who they are outside of autistic groups and partition groups. They will be like Beefheart, hardly anyone knows who that is without digging, not even musicians of that time.
tera melos will be underground legends like built to spill and pavement. you can give their 2005 s/t to a new math rock fan, who's heard all of the newer stuff, and they'll still be like holy fucking shit.
This will become the new 'Unknown pleasures' T-shirt in 20 years from now
this too. I also share the sentiment regarding the Death Classic shirt becomnig the new Unknown Pleasures. I've already ziplocked mine away. Not breaking it out until I'm a middle-aged loser who wants to feel young and cool again.
Maybe I can agree with that. Perhaps they'll be remembered the same way their influences like TFUL282 and SCG were and just be known amongst weirdo kids. I'm sure they wouldn't mind that
