>bandmembers form another band to play different genre/style
>it's actually better than their former band
what's their name /mu/
Mariachi el Bronx and The Bronx are pretty fucking great anyway
Also Foxboro Hot Tubs
Come on, ASMZ is obv great but GYBE is definitely not bad.
Am I alone in thinking that people who bash GYBE (and other /mu/core) like they're the worst thing that happened to music are just contrarian and (somewhat justly) tired of the circlejerk? This board is getting like reddit lately, everything is either GOAT or shit.
Tell me guys, how many bands do the same music as they do so much better? I honestly am really interested.
Saw them open for The Flaming Lips on the Eve of "The World's Gonna End" day.
Also not the entire band, but The Depreciation Guild is immensely better than Pains of Being Pure at Heart.
Can't say I've ever been a fan of GY!BE. And, in my opinion, it took 3 or 4 albums before ASMZ got to the point where I could appreciate them. I know they basically got closer and closer to sounding like a "normal" band, but I've always preferred rock over post-rock.
Great album OP. One of the few that has actually brought me to tears due to the fact that its dedicated to Efrim's dog which I can relate as I just recently dealt with my dog passing. However GY!BE>ASMZ
