some cool breakbeat sounds emerging from the eastern europe micro/minimal house grey area
awesome tapes from africa
floating points (can only find audio for this one)
all the mcde ones, but especially the dekmantel one where he plays bileo - you can win
love the collections series, my faves are egon, budgie, femi from nts, dam funk and japan blues
not into any of the straight bleeps boiler rooms, that's just my taste
LOOKING FOR THIS ONE TUNE ON YOUTUBE SHIT NIGGA IVE POSTED IT HERE A FEW TIMES BUT FORGOT THE ARTIST/TITLE :((((((((
>ITS A GARRIDGE TRACK
>IT HAS A BOX (OR MAYBE A CHAIR OR SOMETHING) AS THE COVER ART
pls (You) me if u can supply
Of course, by now we all know that footwork was a mistake we as a culture should be embarrassed about. It is a genre that clumsily picks at will from the stupidest corners of house, ghetto house and trap, ending up in an aesthetic no man's land where it is both kind of all of these things and kind of none of them. It includes severely misplaced elements such as rapping and chopped and screwed vocals that it's hard to imagine even seemed like a good idea at the time. On top of that, there's the genre's whole aesthetic and attitude: the constant cursing, pseudo-nihilistic lyrics, "EVERYTHING STARTS FROM NOW, I DON'T GIVE A FUCK!!!!!" vocal theatrics, juvenile and simplistic emotional content, cheesy samples "IM GEEKED UP ON DEM BARZ NIGGA" - it all seems made by and for a 15 year old boy obsessed with the black culture who's curious about dance music but can't handle stuff that's a tad more involved than simplistic triplet sub-bass grooves.
But see, here's the mistake people make: while this is all true - footwork is fundamentally stupid and certainly not great dance music - that doesn't mean it's necessarily BAD.
See, I was pretty much the kid described above when I loved DJ Rashad in middle school (I was into Lil Wayne rather than MCR, but nonetheless), a vaguely alternative and somewhat angsty kid. That's not me anymore. I've listened to Michael Pisaro and avant-garde jazz, read modernist and post-modernist literature, seen arthouse movies, been diagnosed with clinical depression and realized the bottomless void at the heart of the human condition is way scarier than an angry black man yelling "GHOST". And there's one thing I was surprised to have in common with that middle-schooler.
I think DJ Rashad was a pretty damn good artist.
Both of Karenns are great but 2014s is better desu
Not as bleepy
Pete Swanston (Noise)
Stars of the Lid (Ambient(?))
hmm a bit maybe. his sounds are definitely enjoyable but it looks he's not really talented outside of make catchy lofi crunchy house. if his next release sounds the same again...meme status confirmed
1800haightstreet is the patrician canadian house broducer duo choice u need 2 check em out lmao lmao lmao. Like the northern dj dodger stadium desu but still enjoyable desu senpai
Can anyone tell me what have been the big club bangers this year? Feel totally out the loop and would like to know about at least a couple of major hits
Does anyone know this tune I'm looking for.
it's very upbeat and catchy
It's a garage tune with some patois mc signing about a "A SPEAKER BOX"
like "ridiing round with my speaaka boxx" or something
heard hodge and koehler and murlo end their sets with it
article on BH that was posted on nmg
"rock n roll" lmao
yeah what he's saying is totally true
i hope someone comes for boring techno with architecture artwork next teebeehaych
is this in reference to anything?
but I disagree desu. Freedom of expression is freedom to express yourself in any way shape or form, and if questioned or evaluated by your peers, you have the right to not address your peers' concerns and saying "I chose to express myself in this way" should be sufficient. Who gives a fuck if your peers disagree with it for fucks sake let a nigga live. Censoring liberal commie fucks smgdh
Disco bleeps are best bleeps
i honestly care about disco more than any bleeps desu, especially modern soul stuff
wish i could go to the us and dig for this stuff desu
>tfw good friend i DJ with has recently become a hound for old disco and funk
Will go to his house and smoke and just listen to all the shit he's got. Must spend like 200-300 a month on records at this point
jodey's an absolute mad man desu
in an ideal world where everyone would express themselves thoughtfully and meaningfully this could work. but this is not the case.
in this world the freedom of people end when they step on other people's toes.
i'm sure if violetshaped came across has guys who thought about the whole thing, people wouldn't have cared so much (for example "yeah we're very conscious about the harsh imagery and we're sorry if it's disturbing for some people that attended to our show -those are the people who pay our tickets and give us the opportunity to tour after all- but for us it's also a part of the show, the anxious response and more generally "negative" emotions are an integral part of our music and the visuals were here to accentuate that." - it's still arguable whether or not they're "right" to do it, but how hard is this to say? ). the problem is they came across as guys mindlessly throwing harsh movie together because why the fuck not.
(er, for the record, i don't know what actually happened here, just guessing from ben's post)
lol i used to spend like 90% of my disposable income on rent on records up until a few months ago - it was more jazz and electronic (not bleeps, like kosmiche) tho
now i'm saving up money for a vinyl pressing so had to cut back spending a lot
disco/modern soul has to have some of the most killer to $$$ ratio records i can think of
ikr? same label as this, prob one of the best disco records ever
super glad to have grabbed that bileo reissue on athens of the north, its mastered super loud, sounds fantastic
euan is doing some quality stuff atm, already preordered all the aotn 45s for this month
got about half the label's catalogue at this point
ps : as for the artistic side of it i think it's endlessly lame and to throw something like that at the screen. for fuck's sake, you gotta be more subtle than that. shame cause these guys released decent tunes
shit artistic vision + media backfire = not worthing it
yeah its killer - the reissue in 2014 blew it up, got ppl like floating points and motor city drum ensemble playing it out
if you're into these sounds, defo check out both of floating point's two "you're a melody" mixes
wish bleep talked abt disco/modern more desu, it does fit, more danceable than dubstep or grime, and its hardly like it could sustain its own thread
wow ben's actually a whiney little faggot
and thats a shit argument too ahhh i dont like this so its dumb and exploitative but calling someone a fuckboy isn't dumb or exploitative because i think its funny
fuck off ben you twat nerd
lol Pham come on
>u can't express freely because u might offend someone
lmfaooooo u serious bud?
>I'm sure if they put a disclaimer and said "we're sry if this hurts ur feelings lol" in advance then everything will be ok
lol why should someone have to apologize in advance??? (1) their apology isn't sincere - in your solution they're just saying that to save face. Sounds quite corporate to me lmao!! I bet you vote labour too which is ironic. (2) they shouldn't have to apologize/issue a disclaimer as it is and should be their fucking right to publish/say/do whatever the fuck they want
Why is this such a difficult concept to understand???
honestly I love Ben but I hate his pussy touchy feely bullshit sentiments he holds sometimes the likes of aurora, Lauren and first year uni students fucks sake. Yes it is censorship - literally the definition lmfaoooo
just take me back to 95 senpai
>honestly I love Ben but I hate his pussy touchy feely bullshit sentiments he holds sometimes the likes of aurora, Lauren and first year uni students fucks sake. Yes it is censorship - literally the definition lmfaoooo
someone can make something dumb/lazy and unintentionally exploitative without being a terrible person though
but i get the feeling a large chunk of those that called out BH would have been more than happy to keep at it until his career + label died had he not instantly done the twitter equivalent of collapsing into the fetal position
state of the left makes me ill these days desu
>their apology isn't sincere - in your solution they're just saying that to save face.
so what? everybody's happier that way.
>they shouldn't have to apologize/issue a disclaimer as it is and should be their fucking right to publish/say/do whatever the fuck they want
if you live in on a desert island then YES you can do whatever the fuck you want, however we live in a SOCIETY so no they shouldn't be able to do what they want. sorry if that bum your idea of freedom, other people have freedom too, better realize it quick.
>I hate his pussy touchy feely bullshit sentiments he holds sometimes the likes of aurora, Lauren
"loooool, he's trying to show some empathy? you mean like aurora lmaoooo"
jesus fucking christ i do my best to come across as mannered as possible but you doesn't make it easy tbqh
desu it sounds like voiletshaped were just using a film for their visuals lol
so like, you could probs go to hmv and buy it on dvd
but omg please censor it because i'm not a fan of it
i'm not saying we should censure everybody showing something a bit harsh, i'm saying that if you throw something like a rape scene at a public event but you can't explain why, you clearly do not belong on a scene.
Nigga just about 99% of the people will say a "horror film stalking women and killing them" on a screen during a show or whatever is disgusting/distasteful etc etc
But even so- he has the right to do what he wants and he has the right to not explain himself because someone "calls for it".
shaking my head!!!
BAN HMV FOR STOCKING DVD's OF FILMS I DONT LIKE
BAN BENUFO FROM CLUBS IF HE PLAYS A TRACK I DONT LIKE, ITS JUST DUMB AND EXPLOITATIVE
I'M TRIGGERED BY DISCO AND THE CLUB IS MY SAFE SPACE, NO DISCO WHEN I'M THERE
ALSO THE WORD HELLO IS DEEPLY OFFENSIVE IF YOU TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION MY HISTORY, DO NOT USE IT NEAR ME
>But even so- he has the right to do what he wants and he has the right to not explain himself because someone "calls for it".
well then, he should rightly expect to be called an idiot.
BEN YOU RACIST PIECE OF SHIT
PUTTING A RECORD OUT CALLED "SLOPE"
EVEN JEREMY CLARKSON CAN'T GET AWAY WITH THAT ONE YOU RACIST FUKC!!!!!
With this I agree with you for sure
What I don't agree with you is you/Ben/aurora telling someone you should/shouldn't or can/can't do something when you 100% have the right to do something all because it offends you. Capeesh?
lol you fucking retard being offended is literally the worst thing that can happen to you, can you be a bit more considerate or just stop talking all together?
i mean, how would you like it if you went to an 18+ event and saw footage from an 18+ film as part of the a/v?? you are within your rights to have expected footage from monsters inc in your safe space
Rashad + Gant-man - Heaven scent should be in there
And Rashad - In Da Club Before 11 o'clock is the greatest footwurk tune ever made
as someone who can footwurk those are my 2 favorite tracks to dance to, Feelin U is also great
lol shut the fuck up you retard
monsters inc triggers me because it's unrealistic and there are too many underlying stereotypes like that plus-sized monster
if they aren't showing Pocahontas on the a/v - an ACCURATELY depiction of a strong Native American woman and her perils at a time when those evil smallpox ridden cis-gendered white men from Europe came and stole and henocided her lands, then I'm fucking out of that party and you best expect a storm on Twitter and thump written the next day
(please cut off that aurora shit)
but ben is not saying they haven't the right to do it, and me neither. he's saying you shouldn't be surprised to get some backfire, that will probably damage your carrier, when you use shocking imagery such as a rape scene as an event but can't explain why. i think it's understandable enough that this completely destroy your artist credibility.
i mean if you have some eye candy on the screen, nobody's gonna ask why, but if you have something that apparently hold a strong statement and/or is potentially sickening for some people - you gotta explain why, and i think it's normal. you don't shit on the floor for no reason.
oi any skaters in?
Im making a skate film and using tracks from mall grab, tissu and terekke. any recs for good tracks that would work for a skate vid?
I'm sure you are aware of Altern8's PA at Shelley's car park - yesterday I came across a pirate radio tape where they did a live report and a short interview with Mark himself. What's the chance of that?
Also on the tape was this choon which sounds like it was made on a washboard, yet it has a strange charm:
It doesn't get more 'Ardcore than this and you wil NEVER EVER know what it's called or who made it
lol jk got 2 catherine wheels goin at 1nce and using a sparkler as a crossfade is gorg xx
This is what normies this of you /bleep/
>For one thing, there’s no need to worry about conversation. It might be a social event, but ignoring everyone around you on the dancefloor is a guaranteed ticket to acceptance among the Blackbox elite.
Don't see anything wrong with this anyway desu
gonna have to lock in with tesco own brand cornetto :((((((
hows he gonna complain about man using horror movie footage when hes literally named after one of the spookiest most unexplained and paranormal things out there! absolute hypocrite!
Nice posts man
'You can win' at last night of plastic people was incredible.
Might 'subscirbe' to the AOTN bandcamp - £25 for the entire back catalog and any new releases (digitally). Sounds like a bargain.
>Might 'subscirbe' to the AOTN bandcamp - £25 for the entire back catalog and any new releases (digitally).
This is a really cool concept, why don't more labels do this for digital?
I'm listening to Rustie right now, kinda feels ashamed but my four year younger self loved glass swords and this one is kinda okay even to be honest. a bit of mcdonalds sometimes aint bad
A bleep classic for the clearly new people in here.
God damn that british accent is just horrible
any of you guys stoked for the last season of peep show?
The UK’s favourite first date locations have been revealed. And Nando’s has come out on top.
Mobile dating app Clover analysed data from 500,000 UK users to see where people were going on first dates, with a cheeky Nando’s winning by a landslide.
lol my gay friend is going to Berlin this weekend, he talked about some party where you needed to wear sports clothing. he's pretty down to earth and didn't want him to open the hurt locker so I actually warned him about the kind of party FC SNAX actually is and adviced him not to go. really curious what would've happened if I didn't told him
I've been wanting to play some vidya for a while desu nothing has really peaked my interest cept for f4, besides the new nfs but its been pushed back and no fucking MANUAL
anyways does anyman think this will bang in the whip?
Had the weirdest night on halloween, ended up getting in this taxi which drove miles to this council house with these group of 30-45 year old women and stayed up sniffing speed
I rarely even go out anymore but when i do end up losing the plot

In preparation for the final run of 50Weapons, Modeselektor put together their favourite releases from the label.
