hows morning /nbbnm/?
just listening this, having some coffe
"The time of the third eye has come. „Ufonaut”, the second Entropia album and the successor of widely acclaimed „Vesper” will be released by Arachnophobia Records in February 2016.
„Ufonaut” is the result of a three years' long experimentation and delves within a psychedelic vision of the world lacking peace and divine order. The seven tracks included on the album are proving that the band released itself from any boundaries of convenience and safety of well-known measures, which in return allowed them to create the album filled with madness, anger and disdain for reality that is full of trivial illusions. In terms of music, „Ufonaut” is filled with hypnotic riffs based on the bands' trademark intricate harmonies and drum patterns. The caleidoscopic compositions, full of twists and turns are the legacy of numerous trips within consciousness and inner self.
Reassured that the future of mankind must be psychedelic or there may be none at all, Entropia stands out as zealots of Terrence McKenna's futuristic vision of the world, demanding the restitution of tribal consciousness and discarding the materialistic civilisation that surrounds us. Rising our heads towards the endless void, we await the incoming answer in silence.
Nothing further beyond.
The album recorded under supervision of Haldor Grunberg (Thaw, Belzebong) and Jakub Mańkowski (Behemoth, Blindead), complemented by the graphic design of Kuba Sokólski, will be released in the standard and limited jewel case CD edition and vinyl version. All remaining details will be announced soon.
>mfw the last track is the best on the album
Oh my fucking god.
What ever happened to that Maze side project that some members of Entropia were working on? The preview track was good.
ok nbbmn i posted about this a couple days ago but i can't stop thinking about this shit. what is going on with this album?? is he actually just a tone-deaf hack? or is this some next level atonal composition?
someone pls help
yeah. it's just so weird that literally every note played on that record sounds like it's the wrong note. you would think that he would at least get it right on accident every once in a while. but i can't find one single coherent melody on this thing
That's why I like NBBMN because it makes you revisit things you left behind, or kinda take for granted.
Storm of the Light's Bane is so hysterically good it pretty much trumps anything Sweden has done in black metal
>tfw revisiting pic related for the first time in 8 years
Satanic Warmaster is so fucking corny but this shit is still fun.
Haven't listened to this in a while. Really nice stuff.
I listened to Det som engang var for the first time in a couple of years and goddamn it blew me away.
Jesus that cover is horrible compared to the original
You see my fellow white Aryans! Satanic trips proves how white I am.
Oh, I definitely agree with that, I mostly meant that it really looks like something that would be sketched on the inside of someones notebook. I guess that's part of the charm of it.
I've been trying to avoid it. It's really more of a dark ambient microgenre than any kind of 'metal', although it is of course heavily tied to Black Metal in Imagery and subject matter.
I would say it's up to you tbqh
Post your favorite band and song.
My favorite band is Cradle of Filth and favorite song is Nymphetamine.
>Imorrior - Herbstmär
Melodic atmospheric black metal with a nice folky vibe
not that guy but this album is p dope. this band is as proggy as black metal is gonne get so if you don't like technical/prog metal this def won't be your cup of tea
also this band is definitely a grower, didn't really vibe with them at first but then it just clicked
the new album is not a good starting point imo, i would start with their self titled if you want their rawest sound yet still imbued with their masterful and intricate compositional skills
noticed something ironic, people aways meme "meal is for children" (not so much anymore but the oldfags know what I'm talking about) yet NBBMN threads are literally the only threads with 0 shitposting. says a lot about 4chan if you ask me
anyways, listening to pic related atm. fucking excellent mane
try paying attention to everything thats going on. look at it from a compositional stance. it's freaking nuts. even if you don't like how it sounds, you can't deny that it's technically impressive.
Some shit i discovered a couple days ago
Anti muslim saudi black folk metal
this track is worth a listen and they're releasing a new album this month, honestly some fresh and different shit in a very saturated scene.
Yeah i know them, Seeds of Ibilis is fuking smooth too. But Al- Namrood has something crude going on, maybe that they're using more traditional saudi instruments in their music, really well incorporated. The song i posted is pure evil and makes me feel like this too >>60175357
Have you read Helvete? Its a somewhat scholarly journal about black metal.
You can download the newest issue here:
I must admit, it makes for a pretty good read during NBBMN.
What I mean is that fags hyped it up when it was boring and directionless wank. I actually liked previous Krallice releases but this doesn't even come close to even Diotama which was their weakest.
How it sounds is all that matters. Being technically impressive doesn't mean shit.
Let's talk album art.
What do you think of Inquisition's new album covers?
What do you think of the latest trends about mystical engravings with stylized fire and serpents and geometric figures and daggers and naked dudes and the alternate alchemical symbol of sulphur ?
What about the recent trends about smoke and desaturated dark grey and thin aliased letters?
What's your favorite BM album art and why?
In general the whole "WE'RE SERIOUS DARK OCCULTISTS LMAO" art gets a bit boring, although the real alchemical and/or hermetic art from the middle ages are some of my favourite paintings. I appreciate it, but it seems like a trend-thing, therefore the more you see it, the smaller the impact is. I like bands doing their own weird thing. Coincidentally, I really like the classic foggy-nature-scenery painting/drawing from the 90's, like Bergtatt or the original cover to Blut Aus Nord's Ultima Thulee.
I, for one, really like the occult art trend and it doesn't get old for me. The only downside is that if it gets too popular I'm no longer sure if I can expect actual esoteric BM with those wringing dissonant riffs and ambient ritual passages.
>Coincidentally, I really like the classic foggy-nature-scenery painting/drawing from the 90's, like Bergtatt or the original cover to Blut Aus Nord's Ultima Thulee.
now THAT is something that's kinda gotten old to me.
But I was more specifically talking about DESATURATED stuff, like, not black and white, but dark grey, with great resolution and all those little touches of millenial minimalism that make it look like an expensive perfume ad from a fashion magazine.
Thats the thing. It's hard to discern the trendhoppers and the "real deal" of modern occult black metal. And of course its important to be looked upon as the real deal in bm. Just look at Watain as of late.
Yeah, landscape covers have gotten old and overused, but I mean those original ones.
Anyway, have some awesome occult German mvsik:
I know I'll sound like a giant sperg, but I think it's a symptom of everything that's gone wrong with bm as a whole. Just like the music it's a veneer of superficial 'classiness' covering a whole lot of nothing. Bonus points for looking nice on collector's ed vinyls but not too spoopy so you don't have to worry about your friends laughing at you.
I made this little collage of my favorite BM covers.
I like it when the cover is abstract, and/or makes you feel the atmosphere.
This one's currently my fav
it really looks like a screenshot of some psychedelic sci-fi movie's title card, with the thing in the background moving in super slo-mo as the title appears across the screen.
I also like the fact that it looks genuinely alien and not quite identifiable, but still reminds you of many precise things that are directly in line with the album's sound. I find that extremely inspiring, like you don't know if it's supposed to be an abstract composition or a photorealistic rendition of something, and in either case what it's meant to represent or convey, but you immediately think of a cell, a sun, insects, aliens, a demon's effigy, a spaceship, a virus, and you try to make sense of it and combine it with the lyrics (that are equally abstract but sprinkled with very concrete and evocative imagery) but it doesn't quite result in a cohesive narrative, and yet you get the impression that it's part of a story but that you have to go deeper into it to get the full experience, because it looks cool, it sounds cool, and you want more of it.
>just listening this, having some coffe
Odd that I do this with this album too, it's like this and Deathcrush are good albums to listen to when you wake up in the morning.
stuff that looks like some graphic design student's rushed coursework just doesn't sell 'occult' to me. More candles and grimoires and shit, less understated typefaces and red squiggles
yeah but man, those spacefrog vocals...
anyway do you guys know what album this is?
yeah you're just conflating those two very different aesthetics
occult BM shit is supposed to look like it's FROM a grimoire
understated typefaces and desaturated smoke are for atmoshit only
Albums with similar feels to this and kveldssanger?
I just want to feel like it's a cold winter night in a norwegian forest
seriously? Weakling sounds like vaguely angry DSBM, it's not vile or evil or hateful compared to most BM.
here, listen to some fucking angry misanthropic stuff
how about a Danish forest :^)
road to judas is eviler, but thanks for memes
Huh? When I first listened to them waiting on a bus stop at 2 am in the middle of deserted nowhere I felt inhuman cosmic hatered forced down on me, it spooked me a lot. Entire fucking battlefield is pure evil to me.
Thanks for share tho
Not my fav but regnum saturni has perfectly fitting album art, really hypnotic and classy while being super minimal
props for Bal-Sagoth, Pneuma and Bergtatt
but the rest doesn't really strike me as anything special
can you explain why you like them individually?
you gotta be memeing me bro cause I'm listening to it right now and for the most part it's fucking comfy
the second riff is dissonant and pretty evil, some parts are kinda doomy but that's like standard fare for occult BM nowadays, they make entire albums out of riffs like that.
like, listen to this, it's not occult but it's what you're looking for:
No, I'm telling the trvth, dead as dreams is very dark and evil, I don't know maybe you're just heartless monster desu
Or is it I weird? Because this >>60176280 is not really evil. Yes it's agressive but I don't feel creeping hatered in this. Production is great tho
The next trend in BM will be appropriating 80s surreal death metal cover artstyle, with a more occult twist. In other words, everyone will have an album cover that looks like this.
This album sucks. It's boring and generic as fuck. I could find ten unsigned black metal bands on bandcamp that are more deserving of being 'produced by kristoffer rygg' and pushed as hard as this album was. I like her clean vocals but that's about all this band has going for it, and she even blatantly ripped one of the melodies from Ulver...
I will say it once more: I hate all these ‘scrobbling' maggots that found out about my band because of Neige (something I had not expected) much more than Neige himself (whose only fault was to be himself). I really want them to fuck off. I would like to tell them the following: every time I see your little spoiled faggot suburban streak-haired faces on last.fm or myspace, I think of putting an end to Peste Noire given how painful it is. Your faces alone could cause the demise of my band. Another thing I despise about the internet is this disconnection with reality : Black Metallers threatening each other on forums, calling themselves warriors and ‘Lords' and talking about killing people when in everyday life the only people these wimps can hurt are monsters in their video games. If that… some Canadians had written messages on the Internet swearing they would break our bones during our Canadian tour, claiming that we advocated multiculturalism because Indria was in the band. They insisted: ‘We'll be there, you can be sure about that.' So where were you, faggots? We were waiting for you. We were even looking for you! Anyone had the chance to come up to meet us at each and every venue we played at. The only person that came up to me looking for trouble (I congratulate him for at least showing up) ended up with his face flat on the ground, KO in ten seconds. A single right hand cross that sent this insolent and presumptuous fool straight to the stars! The rabble can attest to that.
You mean this guy ? Oh i'm pretty sure he got beat up enough in high school tbf
Even neige (just aside) could have beaten him up
I'm with this guy, first band I thought of was also Infernal War, also Antaeus I suppose fits the bill. Mörk Gryning's Maelstrom Chaos also sounds more "evil," a bit less aggressive though I guess. Hell, Nightbringer's latest album sounds more "evil" to me than Weakling. Weakling is just kind of dissonant riffing that does nothing more than plod along really.
need more stuff like this
and does anyone have a rar for this album?
so when is blackened witch house finally becoming a thing
when black metal becomes popular among tumblrinas
then they'll remember about that other spooky genre they used to like called Witch House, and will mash them together in order to appropriate BM's aesthetics by making them girly and hip-hop-friendly through witch house's influence.
How come no band has tried using Ithaqua in their cover art?
I mean you can't get more kvlt than a gigantic emaciated frostbitten dude who wanders around butt naked innawoods yelling louder than the wind and picking random hikers to bring them to the north pole, freeze them and eat them.
Numinous - s/t and M8L8TH's first full length are what I've found most evil sounding. They don't sound much like weakling, but I also didnt find Weakling to sound that evil.
Not bm but I've always got to spam this at anyone looking for Irish-sounding stuff. Gets fucking nice around 2:30ish
>wake up at 15:00
>already dark outside
Thanks I guess
I think current day Hardcore is more onto that type of coverart. Disgrace, Harness, Forced Order, Xibalba. They're all doing it, pic related.
Black Metal should go back to high contrast, mostly black artwork.
Gotta love this meaty guitar tone, reminds me of a mix between Mayhem and Discordance Axis
try the first Behemoth album, not even joking, it's really great early Darkthrone style BM with similar, lo fi, icy production
one or two duds doesn't really mean anything to me IMO, and the worst i'd call Desideratum is below average
Transilvanyan Hunger sounds icy as fuck to me, and considering the lyrics it probably was the intention it's why i love the album
maybe we just have different perspectives on this but Behemoth first album it's objectively similar to it, i'd say you should still check it out
Normally I would have two coffees with two albums and some corn muffins. I have go to the bosses house today. I expect there to be a comfy black metal coffee core chart when I get back. I find Akitsa and Ulver pretty comfy
I only did three albums last night. Plan on at least 7 Today when I get back. Recs welcome.
There was Bloodhammer record from 1999 I picked up in a share thread like 7 years ago. Probably listen to the rest of that today.
This looks cool
>Pic was pretty good. The Finnland blog is not failing me.
You should listen to their pre-comrade material, it's pretty good in it's own way
This literally the most retarded shit I've ever heard in my life. What the fuck am I listening to?
the opening to this literally sounds like me trying to play Weezer when I got my first guitar
What's some good bm from Mother Russia
I know BBH stuff
>And that hate is why its great.
isn't that the definition of a contrarian?
listening to stuff because people you hate hate it?
is there such a thing as gommie BM?
Not BM with gommie lyrics, but BM with influence from soviet music, i love that shit
Well now that I think of it I donr know much outside of BBH and related projects like Walknut and Temnozer.
There is a pagan bm band called Sivyj Yar thats kind of a Drudkh clone but they're still pretty good.
Is Ukraine acceptable? Raventale is fucking amazing
How can you make a mistake like that? /nbbmn/ actually has good quality discussion whereas /metal/ is just a playground for reddit and /b/ with endless shitposting. These generals have nothing in common.
>There are people in here RIGHT NOW who haven't experienced Battle's Clarion
I'll hook you up senpai
My chart is still unpvre for some reason, Macabre, Swans and Pet sounds is still on the chart even though i haven't listened to it in 5 days
I've probably listened to a little too much atmoshit, and a little too much blackenedcrust desu.
Post your top five favorite black metal acts
here's my collage as well >>60176198
So was that part in the art gallery. Exactly why people mindlessly hate on contemporary art. If I was to remake that documentary, it'd just follow Fenriz around on his day to day errands. Then cut those sequences with Varg's inane rambling.
Does this count as black metal? I always thought of them as death metal but metallum says they are black.
I can hardly await it.
hope it drops during nbbmn
I'm progressing really slowly but I'm planning to get more into war metal
pic related nigga
>implying I would listen to something 1-5 on purpose
Well I can't really agree with you there since Fractal Possession is actually my favourite Abigor record, but ofc the old stuff is nice aswell.
I guess they'll continue the Leytmotif Luzifer style.
don't forget Nightbringer and Thy Darkened Shade. that's gonna be a massive thing
4 way split with Abigor, Mortuus, Nightbringer, and Thy Darkened Shade
TT previously had hinted he wanted to do a massive split on par with Crushing the Holy Trinity.
You seem to be brainwashed by kike media
Vargy did nothing wrong
not a big fan of the synths they used, or the clean vocals (and i love VBE's cleans) and i am kinda sad about the lack of VBE lyrics (minor thing but still).
Other than that it's still pretty fucking great with tons of variety
Agreed. Mortuus can suck my cock. Abigor is the only true band there. PK, TT, Sil were writing genre defining material while those fags were still suckling on their mother's teat.
Hey guys i am having a hard time actually figuring out how to download from metalarea.org am i just retarded? Rutracker doesnt have all the bm i need for this month and im on mobile so shares by you anons dont really work well either
New Revenge album streaming here
Deafheaven is on tour with Myrkur.
It will be alot easier to kill all the posers when they're all at same location.
i can't think of a better time for this
>thankfully it's not through with europe yet.
oh thank god
i just read the thing, no mention of Poortugal anywhere in it
>tfw Portugal is so insignificant companies don't even bother to make it part of the cyberpunk nightmare
PLEASE BE TRIPS OF LIES
>just finished drinking a bottle of whiskey
>still not feeling drunk
post black metal for this feel
Any recommendations along the lines of this? I love the synths.
Every thread there's the same "anyone have space black metal recs?"
What's going on?
How is Abigor so based?
>excellent and forward thinking 2nd wave albums in the early-mid 90s
>excellent and forward thinking orthodox albums in the 2010s
And how have I only just discovered them?
