Ex-Amish truck driver destroys historic bridge by driving her 30-ton trailer across it - because she got her math wrong and didn't know she was FIVE TIMES over the weight limit
* Mary Lambright, 23, made the 1880 historic bridge collapse on Christmas Day inPaoli, Indiana * Iron bridge had a weight limit of six tons - her vehicle and trailer weighed about 60,000 pounds - or 30 tons - at crash * Lambright told... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Lambright, of Fredericksburg, told police she knew the iron bridge had a weight limit of six tons and wasn't equipped for semis due to a sign that was posted, but said she didn't know how many pounds were in six tons.
Lambright and her 17-year-old cousin who was in the passenger seat managed to escape unharmed. 'She's a very inexperienced driver,' Paoli Police Chief Randy Sanders said of Lambright explaining that she had left the Amish order a year or so ago, reports Herald Times... Comment too long. >>910334 >I've considered buying a gun to ride around with, but I imagine they'd be packing more heat than me.
I don't live anywhere I'm worried about getting mugged, but that sounds like crazy talk. The bike thieves are opportunistic. They'll cut a chain, steal just a seat or wheel, or hacksaw a tree. But having a boomstick or a DEAGLE BRAND DEAGLE probably isn't a thing that would help you. Especially since you are going to be inside when some motherfucker is... Comment too long. >>910301 Some official instruction would be helpful, if you are mixing with larger vessels of any kind. I live near St Louis MO/USA and occasionally hear about somebody getting ticketed for trying to "wake jump" by running a rec boat too close to tugs pushing barges on the Mississippi river.
The link below is to a book on Amazon. Posting comical reviews became a fad at one point, but the reason that the guy wrote it is legit: he was a ship driver (or whatever) and saw again and again that people in small boats... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>910253 The New Yorker rolled into the Golden State at the city of Blythe last week after riding 2,700 miles across 17 states—mostly along historic Route 66—on a distinctive blue Citi Bike he checked out in Manhattan on Aug. 6. Citi Bike is a fee-based bicycle sharing system. Speaking to New York magazine from Albuquerque this month, Tanenhaus said his job as a corporate event planner (to which he used to commute on a Citi Bike) and his apartment lease were both ending, and he "couldn't stomach" getting "just... >>910303 Socialism is a society where everyone is equal and with a centralized planned economy where the government provides for everyone.
Nazi germany had a very authoritarian capitalist economy. I'm fully against this both socialism and communism. But Nazi-Germany wasn't socialist. Private companies were allowed if they didn't interfer with their ideals and the state, but monopolies couldn't be formed since the state had the final decision. Next to that, the society was inherently unequal. The fact man was... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>910196 >have one I rarely walk around the house unless I have to go upstairs. It's pretty fun desu senpai. I don't ride it outside because that's fucking stupid and the ground is too uneven. Tldr it's good for riding to get a glass of water, but stick to a bike outside
>>910091 >is this cause for a new tyre Put 30psi more in the tube than you normally would and look at the hole, if the tube visibly starts to bulge through then you should replace the tire. If not, the cut isn't all the way through the casing and the tire's fine to keep using, just check on it every few rides.
I've been looking for a way to liven up my daily commute, so I'm tinkering with the idea of installing a sweet stereo system in my bike to crank some tunes. Problem is I know diddly squat about audio systems.
I'm looking at this one right now http://www.bestbuy.com/site/pioneer-6-2-cd-dvd-built-in-bluetooth-apple-ipod-ready-in-dash-receiver-multi/2719011.p?id=1219561627718&skuId=2719011
Looks like a great deal at $80 off, plus it's compatible with my Apple iPod so I can play my whole iTunes library through... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>910006 Why do you want to make your bike weigh 100 pounds? You'll have to carry heavy speakers and a heavy battery to run all that stuff. Just get a bluetooth speaker that fits in your bottlecage and that recharges via USB, and that weighs less than a pound.
>Takara Kabuto It's not a very good bike, and the large size will be just barely big enough for someone of your height, but it will work tolerably well for a commuting bike if you live somewhere flat. If you do buy this, it would be worth having a bike shop do a basic tuneup (to make sure there's adequate grease in place, wheels are tensioned, bolts tight, etc.) on it before you ride it very far - half the problem with most cheap bikes is that they're not put together properly, greatly increasing the chances that you'll experience... >>909929 1. Go to bike shop, get a lower-priced hybrid or road bike that can take racks. For USA, figure this will cost ~$400. It will be built and assembled much better tho.
2. get Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires for it. This will cost ~$100 more (you may need to order them online) but it makes getting flat tires far more unlikely 2a. If you get a bike that has 26".559mm wheels then there is a china copy of the Schwalbe MP that is cheaper, called the Salvo ($20 on Amazon) but it only comes in 26" x 1.75. It... Comment too long.
