ITT: We talk about the things we love and hate about our daily drivers.
I'll get the ball rolling.
98 Lexus SC400
Perfect amount for me.
> Extremely reliable 1UZ engine
> Very quite and smooth driver
> Premium gas only
> RWD terrible in snow
> backseats are basically useless
>dem giant leather seats
>back seat is small but great for storage
>dat 90s 2 tone
>terrible turning radius
>pretty lackluster as far as power is concerned (200hp 20 years and 115k miles ago)
>10mpg highway, 10 mpg around town, 10mpg with a trailer.
Sadly 400's make nowhere near at the wheels plus how heavy they are makes them feel extremely slow. But I like SC's ive had a couple. One 400 the other was a 300 1JZ swap.
>Dat 6 Speed
>Dat Close ratio steering
Much more but these are my favorite
>Sucks fat cocks on gas
Drive my suburban daily just to save on gas.

I'm very interested in wrenching but have nowhere to practice and no money... what to to?
>wants to learn how to wrench
Yeah... if you're trying to do this on your own without a private space to keep the car and it's parts (AKA a garage) you're fucked.
Second best bet is to try and "intern" at some repair shops, just go to the nearest legit shop that's not corporate run and talk with the owner, see if he'll let you come over and take a look at how they do things in your free time, do this enough, involve yourself a bit with simple repairs while watching how the big jobs get done.
>gm killed off Pontiac and olds to save this
Pres F if u crie errytiem
What Buicks are even made in America any more? It seems like most of them are made by Opel or Daewoo.
/liveoutofcar/ anon here. Found one I might bite on, but why the hell is with insurance?
It's 1,200 a year to insure a $700 car. Why does the government mandate car insurance while allowing gouging on prices like that? 3, nearly four years of driving without a single infraction on my record. Most government mandated stuff at least has a cheap/free-but-crappy provided version, though I don't know about healthcare.
does your car require 91 octane? do you always buy it?
Its winter here and routinely drops below 0C. I'm only an occasional driver, 90% of the time I can save fuel by taking transit to university, but I still need my jeep for other stuff. I drive maybe 2-3 times a week and rarely for more than an hour.
So of course I had my battery freeze on me. Bought one from CAA, and that's died too. Boosted it, and drove around for an hour and a half to try and get it healthy again. Its died again after 2 days. Is it a drain somewhere in the system? CAA tested the system and said I didn't have any unusual...

Nope. Hasn't even gotten below 20C for a full week yet this year.
I don't think I drove it at all the week it froze though. So 7 days-ish. That still seems too fast to me, but I'm no expert.
So I work at a grocery store in Arizona and there is an abandoned vehicle in the parking lot. Checked it out and it turns out it's a 1991 Subaru legacy wagon RS. I talked to the police and they said that if I wanted it then I would have to pay all the registration fees and towing costs, after 90 day waiting period.
Question is, I have no idea what the condition the engine and transmission are in, so should I go for it??
Second round of our team names survey. We are at 43 votes right now but we need more. Winter Cup will probably be in february 2016.

what could be reasons for steering on an early 90s mazda to seem "off"
Man I love The Phonse.
Where do you buy your car performance modifications?
I've looked on eBay but all its 90% headlight mods and 10% cheap crap from China
Google doesn't help much either
If you can't find the parts you're looking for...you probably shouldn't be doing performance mods. Just search exactly what you're looking to modify, read forums, ask your friends who are into cars...I mean do you want me to tie your shoes and wipe your ass too?
If my brake lights are malfunctioning, should I put on my hazard lights?
I never got around to wiring my front turn signals, so I use arm signals when there's a car in the opposite lane that would need it. I don't feel like anyone understands what the fuck I'm doing. I had to point a finger to make one guy realize I wasn't just waving at him.
>most cars will still have halogen headlights stock
Are auto companies fucking retarded? You can't see shit with these candle-lit headlights. Not only has xenon been around for over a decade, but we're well into LED/Laser technology as well. The fuck?
Oh, right. Jews.
I am a proud owner of the Mercury Marauder. A limited, big door muscle sedan aka a souped up Grand Marquis. I came across this thread on the mm.net forums and I want to believe. What do you guys think of his story?
Fact or Fiction?
