No, dude, bo. Planes are super automated and still require a pilot in case shit goes wrong. SD (self driving) cars use LIDAR to see. That doesn't work in heavy snow. The cameras they use to interpret lines on the road don't work in bad weather either. Location software even with cell, wifi, and GPS for triangulation guesses within a 20ft radius at best.

They will become a taxi service in cities, but never more than that unless we go full AI and have something truly on the level if a human instead of crude AI and sensors.
>>
>>15750950

It might happen in some communist shithole like California or Europe but not where I live. Way too much wilderness that the gubmint would never be able to control.

If planes and trains can't even drive themselves with the powerful and reliable computers they got, That means your Civic is a long ways from being fully autonomous.

Anyone here own a 2004-2008 WRX STI? What's the reliability like? I own an IS300 right now and looking to trade up, and have found quite a few in my price range, but all have decently high mileage (100-150k miles). Ask an subie fanboy and you'll hear nothing but how they're the best and most reliable, but everyone I've known that owned a WRX has had numerous issues with their car, even with up to date maintenance. Is subaru reliability just a meme? I've owned a GTI before so I know what it's like to own a turbo car, special maintenance, and something...

just trust me when I say don't buy a used wrx.
you are better off saving and financing a new one.
the problem isn't the reliability that is inherent to the brand or even to this particular model, it's who drove it before you.
the wrx lends itself to boy racer types who are going to drive the car hard, and you are going to be buying a car that has all of the wear from the previous owner, and a decade old car is also going to...

Hey aut/o/ friends

The stop lamp in my 2012 Kia Soul went out and I looked at a video explaining how to do it. The instructions said that you need a trim removal tool but in the video it looks like he just pulls the housing out by hand.

Anyone have any experience with these tools? Are they useful enough to just get even if I don't need it for this?

Looking at the Canadian winters and inabilities to bike between November - March, I'm thinking of driving my trucc 8km north of Downtown and then taking the ATV down to work every day. This way, I save $12/ day on parking (since I can just toss it on the field there).

How do I do this without being an edgelord? Is it worth it getting a cheap $700 ATV for this purpose? How safe are these on collisions?

What do you mean "stopped letting that shit fly"? I was just going to switch between bike lanes and the regular road on the ATV. They go up to 40kmph which works pretty well for downtown bumper-bumper traffic. Especially with all the fucking construction going on nowadays.

Anyway, I've more or less planned my route out: Park at the local church 8km from my work, drive the ATV down (main benefit is the snow traction), and park it in the quad area beside the local university...

What is the advantage of having LSD in a FWD car? Wouldn't you lose grip and understeer in every corner under load?
37 replies and 1 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>15749369
No, LSDs improve grip
>>
>>15749369

There is understeer when both wheels break loose. This is controllable and very manageable. This is at a much higher throttle input than going through a corner with a open diff and trying to keep the inner wheel from spinning.

Overall there is more grip and faster cornering.

Eurotard here.

I've got a Audi TT Quattro Mk2 (2L TFSI) as a daily driver. Bought it used and the tires on it are still not worn out, but they are junk summer tires. They are Rockstone 245/45 R17 99W XL F105 slapped on by the garage to simply be able to say you'd get new tires with your purchase...

I've got 15000km on them now and am totally fucking tired of them. So I'm now looking for a year-round tire set to replace them. Since winters aren't especially vicious around here, I'm going to keep using the same set of tires in the winter....
