What's /o/'s opinion on cargo vans? Looking at econolines right now, I have 5000 to 6000 bucks to spend on one, I need it to get me from one coast to the other.
Picture slightly related.
So where's the discussion? What van is most popular, cheapest to fix, doesn't break down often, can highway like a boss, etc?
What vans/years to avoid?
Should I just get a VW hippie mobile? Am I better off with a GM? Should I stick with the 2006-ish Econoline I saw in my price range?
Look for a Chevy Vandura or Ram B series van. Father has a 1998 Ram 2500 van and it has 528000 miles on a 318/727 no rebuild, no replacement. Only basic maintenance. Did one water pump at 187k, another at 450k. Alternator about 80k ago.
>VW hippie mobile
>cheap to fix
>good highway manners
You may have [none] of the above.
>Am I better off with a GM
Yes, and that's really saying something because GM makes terrible vehicles.
