So I do a bit of hiking and hunting fairly regularly, but only really day trips and a little bit of overnight camping here and there.
I really want to start doing more hiking/trekking as in longer/multiple day trips. Looking to start out with overnighters and then go longer as I get more experienced, but I don't have much of an idea where to start, especially as far as gear goes, so if I could get some help with the basics that would be awesome. Just looking for a list of what gear I need, and maybe some decent brands.

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone here has completed hikes that are from 280 - 330 km (173 - 205 mi) in terrain graded "medium difficulty", ie. no need to mountain climb but expect some steep hills. How many days did you use? Reason I'm asking is because I'm planning to do either Westweg in Germany or ViaGottardo in Switzerland in the summer/autumn and I'd love some input regarding timing. I am also unfamiliar in the area except from business trips to Basel and Stuttgart, so locals' input are especially welcome.

>>667981 I haven't read the books but I've listened to 5 or 6 interviews with the author on coast to coast AM....I liked the stories up until he starts leaning towards bigfoot....the interviews are especially creepy to listen to while sitting around a campfire when your camping
Pencil dive? What do you do with your arms? I also read that your chin is supposed to be tucked in and head down, but that seems rather uncomfortable.
I basically watched this video on Facebook about a guy who jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge and then in mid air changed his mind and decided he wanted to live (just look up Kevin Hines), so he basically took the brunt of the impact on his feet and legs. The bridge has a 98% fatality rate.
>>667885 good idea kevin let him rest a huge post of chili on burning wood so people can gather around to watch its spill when then wood crumbles. i wouldnt even suggest stones unless you were 99% confident in how leveled and founded the stones were. OP surely you can google a rig for your pot, and bonus point if you can fit the whole rig into the pot itself
Hey /out/ I'm working on getting a source of wool blankets and hats from peru. its alpaca wool products as per my search. its really cheap compared to anything you will be able to source in the US its as good and better then standard sheep's wool. and if you're allergic to sheep's wool alpaca is a great alternative.
Currently waiting for my source [a friend of mine that I trust] to find some he can buy in markets and then send off to me. the cost of each product will be determined by each shipment and total cost of each unit.
So would anyone... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
