>live in backwater village in Sweden >due to low pop there is lots of land sold in the area is sold for symbolic prices like 1 SEK (about 10 cents in USD) for a hundred acres plus permits to build houses for 10000 SEK (1000 USD)
Just exactly how does this work in general? Are you just buying yourself costs?
t. financially inept but tempted every time I open the paper
>>653707 what? what prices are those? the concept of private land is a bit different than in other parts of the world, isn't it? can foreigners buy land in Sweden like a national citizen? pls answer anon.
How do you not be scared if you are in a tent all alone at night out there?
I can deal with it if I'm on some sort of camping ground with some other people there even if I don't know them, but just all by myself still spooks the shit out of me and I hardly sleep. So how do you cope?
>>653638 the reality is nothing will get you man no one is out there waiting for you to go to sleep to fuck with you that animal you heard outside your tent? it's just rummaging around doing normal animal shit, not out to get you you just gotta get over it. i'm a hobo, when i started i was creeped out every once in a while, i'd just have to remind myself that I was the scary dude sleeping in the bushes that everyone else was afraid of. also the best advice anyone can ever give you for living outside... Depending on where you live OP. If you got animals that could pose a danger, I.e. bears, cougars, moose, etc. Just practice not leaving food around, prepping your food a lil ways away from main camp, don't be a slob and leave trash around.
While you're up and about, don't be afraid to make some noises to alert animals that you're there. Most attacks is due to them getting startled.
Usually humans are not a problem, just like any thing else there is a what if situation. I've... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>653590 >Is it safe to bathe when /out/ in bodies of water ? No >I hear there's parasites and so its dangerous, but is it ? Yes, especially in fresh water during the summer >What kind of water bodies are good for bathing in ? Salt(ocean) water only
Depends on the water source. In North America the only thing that really comes to mind is dangerous amoebas but that is really just the roll of the dice and you would have to swallow water / snort it up your nose. Other places like South America can have shit swim up your dick hole and such though.
What's up /out/! So I have some questions on stealth camping/ wilderness backpacking in general. What are some of your stories? Helpful hints? Anything? I'm stationed on Camp Lejeune in North Carolina, and I drove 5 hours to Hanging Rock state park. I paid for a campsite then set up a fake tent and just went about 2km into the woods, but wound up still being found, I didn't make a fire or anything. So really just anything would help.
I've done a few treasure hunts in my local national park that ran from one single website but I wan't to create something different, something you have to solve on the move. I did one on here and a guy actually went out and did it, even thou It was in America and I'm in the UK, he found his fathers keys under a tree.
I want to do scenarios like kidnapping and people have to follow the clues to find the victim, it'll all be light hearted, but I need ways of getting across clues, the move basic is QR codes, which give instruction, links to picture, videos... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>653604 it's a treasure hunt, it's a scenario, which I have thought about over today and it's not going to work like that. Still going to be using hex, fuck i was thinking about using SSTV, if they want the money or to win, they gota fucking try, it aint no walk in the park.
>>653646 this is not the OP, but it raised a smile.
I'm considering getting into taxidermy, but I'm not sure where to begin. I've cleaned game before, but I've never skinned an animal with the intention of having it mounted. Those of you who have experience tell me what I need to consider before jumping in. Is it worth it? Is it ridiculous hard?
using a robin or just a bird is the best to start with. i think theres quite some information about it with small birds, theres used to be taxidermy spot close to my home, but it was a temporary thing.
>>653533 Around here, there are a few little taxidermy shops and they seem to always have business. I think for a deer it's around 200 or 300 dollars. Maybe more. If I dabble into this stuff, I'll probably start with some kind of small bird but I'd like to be able to mount fish and deer eventually.
I'm heading off to the Harbin Ice Festival in a week and, being Australian, have no idea how to deal with days of -10 and nights of -25.
At the moment I'm thinking >thermals, couple of flannel shirts, fleece jacket +/- light raincoat for wind >thermals, jeans (I know, cotton kills, but Harbin's pretty dry and I won't be venturing far from the city anyway so maybe I could get away with it) > 2xsocks and my leather hiking boots. This was on page 10. Why can't you degenerates answer his question instead of shitposting about moras and MGTOW?
>>653421 If you're still here, you will want a proper winter coat for those temperatures, even if they're celcius. Down to -10C can be tolerable with enough fleece under a goretex but a real coat is much better. -27 and I wear a fleece or two under my winter coat, or break out the down parka.
I was invited to spend a few days in the woods by a friend and want to know if I should do it. It's a girl, so maybe we can skip the accusations of homosexuality right off. It's in NC near the mountains on private property, but I don't know if I should do it. I'd have to buy some supplies and it's kind of a spur of the moment thing. She mentioned hunting too, so I either buy camouflage or just not give a damn and just enjoy time with a girl and let the actual hunting go second. I planned on taking my rifle either way for protection, so there's that.... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

Ive been approached regarding a hunting expedition to East Africa, Im assuming its Kenya/Tanzania.
Has anybody been there that could shed some insight into what kind of clothing is required, I have an akubra territory planned for a hat but not sure what kind of layering system for the body and am leaning towards a low cut flexible soled leather boot like pic related.
Nah nha what you want to do is just wear some flip flops for the flight over, when you get their go and ask the local store owners where youn puchase Albino made footwear, these will protect you from various witch doctors and voodoos the locals will hex on you. Remember the key word Albino wear, Also nothing looks more pimp then a sweet pair of white shoes in the african jungle.
>>653173 yeah I got a pad for that exact reason. Maybe no top quality but better than nothing. I was just wondering if somebody has done it before. I remember camping with a thin sleeping bag at -2 celsius and freezing my ass off
