Not sure if the burning thing was a pun, but nice joke. I voted for Trump in this election, but I'd say the two are similar in the sense of getting people excited. I think Hitler was able to excite people more than Trump, simply for the fact that people wont shut up about Trump literally being hitler. Hitler was widely loved because he pulled his country out of a deep depression and turned it into the most powerful country in Europe in a very short period of time.

Trump has similar economic ideas in the...

Why do I never see photography intentionally planned and framed? Like paintings and other forms of art.

I feel like I would enjoy photography a lot more if I could actually find more photos where everything had been planned and placed in such a way that it created an interesting picture. It seems like most people who're into photography just take pics of whatever random shit they find.

I'm not trying to sound like a shit or anything.

>Why do I never see photography intentionally planned and framed?

Because you're a scrub who doesn't know anything.

There is a long history of pictorial photography, starting (most obviously) with the Pictorialists around the twentieth century, like William Mortensen (pic related). Thanks to a vicious smear campaign by the landscape photographers of the 20's like Ansel Adams and his ilk, it fell out of fashion, though that doesn't mean it disappeared....

It seems to me that mirrorless is going to be the future for entry level gear since it's going to be harder and harder to convince casual photographers to carry around a big-ass DSLR when they can just use their phone, but why isn't Canikon putting any effort into making more entry level mirrorless cameras, or mirrorless in general? Is there even still a market for cameras like the D3xxx series and EOS Rebel or has that space been eaten up by cameras like the Sony A6000?

Oh wow yet another thinly veiled sonyfag thread
>>
probably just waiting for mirrorless to get on par with DSLR. let the small companies take the hits and make bad cameras so once the kinks get sorted out by sony/fuji/olympus they can jump into the market with something that steals all their tech but has better name recognition and better support.

sony is almost there with the a7 series but it's still not perfect. once sony has it nailed canikon will come through with an excellent camera that blows the sony out of the water.
>>
>>2977233
Because mirrorless requires new sensor tech for good autofocus, and canon haven't invested in sensor tech for years.

Also, evfs are fucking expensive if you want to buy a good one, which is why sony are unbeatable on price/performance, they make their own. And is why the evf on canons and fujis last gen sucked dick.

And canon can't afford to come out with a new mount that jeopardises ef. If they keep their mirrorless as a joke, it won't concern their bread and butter professional clients.

It's a very comfy photo. Watched a video interviewing the guy who took it. If I remember correctly, he shot it with large format film, and gave it to a stock agency.

He's happy about it, I like it. But its sade that photo can never be taken again, that area has been ripped up and replaced with some sort of farm land I think. Might have been taken in Palouse Oregon.

I'm flying to Europe in 5 days, prior to that I will be purchasing my first rig. I'm getting an a6000 with the kit lens, a sigma 60mm f/2.4, and a fujian 35mm.

I will be visiting a number of various locations, would this combo of lenses satisfy me enough, or would you recommend anything else? Also it's gonna be cold as fuck in Europe, would this affect the gear in anyway?

Might be cold enough to affect battery life slightly.
>>
It sounds like he's new to cameras in general.

First off unless your main goal of the trip is photography I'd look at getting a more convenient setup of a decent wide to short tele walk-around lens. Switching lenses all the time is a major hassle when you're traveling and walking around all day. The little sacrifice in IQ is worth the convenience. Maybe one of the Sigma/Tamron 17-50 2.8 lenses.

If you insist on primes both of those seem like bad picks, the Sony camera is a crop sensor so 1.5x the equivalent. A 35mm becomes 52.5mm and 60mm into 90mm....

Looks like a smartphone/compact camera snapshot with a strong magenta tint.

Be more specific. What do you like about it? Then we can help you do it to a different photo.

this one is pretty cool too.

I'm currently looking for a new lens for my Canon 70D.

I have these two options :
* SIGMA 17-70MM F2,8-4 Contemporary
* SIGMA 17-50MM F2,8

Which one would you recommend ?

I would get the 17-50mm bc it's faster overall and sharper at 17mm but ymmv. Here's some reviews:

Versatility is more important than lol bokeh, I'm sure you already have a nifty fifty for that purpose.

Extreme beginner looking for advice. This was taken on my HTC One m8 phone as that's (very sadly) the best camera I currently have access to. I know, the quality sucks, but I'm trying to do my best with what I've got.

This is the original photo straight off the phone. What could I do better in terms of framing/angle/exposure, etc.?

Here's my attempt at an edit. Do you find it better or worse than the original? What could I do better?

Don't park your bike so close to your background. When you're using a phone camera, you need a shitload of space between the subject and the background to get a decent blur.
Go take your bike up to an elevated place with a view, or to an isolated road. You need a better background.
As far as the actual shot, you've cut off the mirror and it looks kind of awkward. Either get the whole bike in the shot, or move in on a particular section, like the brake discs or the back with something interesting framed by the back fender.

You can take great photos...

Thanks for the advice. I had the idea to move farther away from the background just as I was leaving, but I didn't have time to move and retake photos. Maybe I'll try again.
I totally agree a better background would help. I chose this spot because it was the only place I could find at the time with decent light (night time), and low light does not play too well with phone cameras in my experience. When I get a chance I'll see if I can try again someplace more interesting.
Thanks for the suggestion...

Why does it seem like photography technology isn't making any progress? Megapixels keep going up but image quality seemingly isn't improving at the same rate.

making quality glass is expensive - try a quality lens vs a kit lens and even there you can see the difference.

You also have to appreciate that the full frame sensor is simply not big enough to render huge high res images. You have to start at medium format, which means bigger cameras and bigger lenses.

Plus you have to consider pricing - you have to have a way of tempting people into buying more expensive glass. You do that by telling them that more expensive = more image quality.

Because you're an impatient little faggot.

Ever heard of a Lytro camera?
Dual Pixel raw?
Pixel Shift focus?

But while we are here, what exactly needs progression in photography? People still use film, and nobody has "progressed" that technology for decades.

52 KB,
First time here, go easy on me.

So just noticed that whether i shoot a 720p or a 1080p footage with gopro, the bitrate is the same.

I get around 30Mbps bitrate when shooting 60fps on both resolutions and was curious if that's a recurring theme with sport cams.

Tested with Hero 4Black.

I like to keep my lens on 50mm and hold the camera portrait by my waist. I use continuous focus and try to aim and shoot the person I want to capture. Felt really lucky getting this beautiful woman so sharp. Fuck the Costa in the background though .___.
