>I tried vibrance
Vibrance is really just going to increase saturation for certain ranges without touching yellow/orange/red too much.
>>
>>2950658
This isn't how vibrance works at all.
Saturation boosts everything, vibrance brings up the saturation of the less saturated areas.

Not at the moment, but the IBIS is really nice.

Sigma might release more F1,4 crop lenses in the future, and those aren't stabilised.
>>
>>2948688
Pentax user here, IBIS has always been nice. You guys missed out of the fun. Put some old ass lenses on it and enjoy active stabilization.
>>
>>2948685
The price is a bit steep, otherwise I'd already have bought it.

As-is, I'll probably buy some 30mm DC DN and a TTL strobe and other stuff first and then decide.

>>2948688
IBIS also always has been interesting together with adapted autofocusing lenses.

123 KB,
hi /p/

I'm looking to a camera system to invest in, the Sony A6300 seems nice for me as it have good 4k, good quality photo and a viewfinder. But why are lenses so expensive?

Canon 70-200 f/2.8 is 1400€
Sony 70-200 f/2.8 is 3000€

I've heard that Canon is way better than Sony in optics and btw I won't spend 3000€ on a lens. So if I look at the f/4 version, it's 1500€ for Sony and 600€ for Canon, again...

My question is, should I go for a Metabones speedbooster EF to Sony E ?

The speedbooster itself cost 800€ and canon lenses are cheaper, plus I will have this extra light/fov/bokeh on any lenses.

> But why are lenses so expensive?
Because they orient themself on Canon's new pricing, I guess.

Also for the f/2.8 because it's the best such glass.

> Metabones speedbooster
You could do that or a Sigma MC-11.
>>
>>2948161
Some will argue that speed boosters degrade quality, and they can slightly at 1:1 pixel peeing, but the amount that speed boosters damage IQ is neglibilge.
Economics is the reason for the high Sony lens price, E mount lenses are newer and they're hot shit on the market with high demand.
Go for the canon lens+ speed booster, you may want to wait a bit to buy your a6300, the a6500 is releasing soon and you could possibly save a couple hundred on the a6300 body if you're willing to wait a few months.

I'd say at this point in the contemporary context; fine art photography has a degree of experimentation and pushing boundaries to produce something beyond reality.

Alvin Booth is a great example of this.

There are three kinds of photography: art, documentary, commercial.

They all share many common characteristics, and often a photograph or a photographer's work will ride the fence between two or even all three. The only thing that ultimately differentiates between the three is intent. Commercial photography is created with the obvious intent to sell or offer a service. Documentary photography wants to capture a subject and a scene as it was, with as little editorializing as possible. Art is everything else: essentially, it's a freedom of expression and intent....

There is no such thing as universally-recognized press credentials. They are either just ID cards produced by the agency you work for, or they're issued to you by the event you're planning to cover. The former doesn't guarantee you access into anything, but they do help you get the latter.

tldr; start by getting a job in the press

>Mamiya RZ67

So basically, I want one of these setups for shooting architecture.

The Fuji setup has the bellows and the Mamiya has 2 decent Shift lenses (and also bellows??)

To be honest, the only reason I am considering the Mamiya RZ67 is because I have the chance to get a mamiya 645AF for a good price from a friend.

Also, I imagine the Shift lenses could be adapted too the GFX.. But what about the weird GX680 lenses? Could they also somehow be adapted to the GFX?

What is the better SYSTEM for shooting architecture? Thanks.

I meant to add that the 645AF comes with some lenses that could be used on the RZ67 which I could purchase at a later date.

>I want one of these setups for shooting architecture.

why don't you save yourself a lot of money and get a 4x5? Rail cameras are free to cheap, and lenses are a fraction of that you will pay for some weirdo MF lens. What you save you can spend on film, and when you want to go digital get a scan back.
>>
>>2947119
I normally disagree with this, but a scanning back is actually a valid option if you're shooting architecture exclusively. Just get a compact camera for everything else.

Agreed.

I attempted to make the switch from Canon to Sony when the new A series were released last year, but they are functionally awful cameras.

Canons are comfy as fuck. I do want to try an X Pro II, although only as a small carry camera, I could never switch over my main gear to it.

Adjusting measurements is something that design programs still don't do well, despite the fact that it's been in (2d) CAD programs for literally always.
Anyway in photoshop I would use guides, e.g. put one at 5%, 47.5%, 52.5% and 95% and you'll have evenly spaced horizontal borders.

So I've stared to get into photography in the last year and a half. I've mostly taken photos on my iPhone 6s Plus (see pic it's oc with single Instagram filter) but also have a starter camera I got for about $700ish. It's a Nikon D5500. I've taken almost 1500 pictures on it and gotten some ok shots. I went the the March on the DNC this past summer and got a lot there too. My main question is, how the actual hell do I shoot on manual mode? The booklet didn't help too much and online has had mixed results. If anyone has good, solid advice, or an online...

why shoot manual? you won't be anymore pro.
>>
>>2951199
You are an amateur, you don't need manual mode yet.

The only advantage of shooting manual is to have the same results for every shot if you work in a series. I doubt that you or most other prosumer guys on /p/ do that. Look at most threads on here or any other place, people shoot single pictures and your camera is good enough to handle stuff itself in aperture control so you can focus on taking pictures or focus on not editing your sky green.
>>
>>2951199
Learn stops and the exposure triangle.

Prioritise your photo taking, do you need motion blur/bokeh/deep dof/freeze motion/is fine detail important. Set the settings that give you what you want and fit the rest round them.

And serious suggestion, sell the nikon, get a sony. An EVF is MUCH easier to learn manual on as it gives a wysiwyg preview. Also, the smaller body will encourage you to take it more places.

Hi /p/. Around a month ago I enlisted your help on fixing a stuck lens on a Zorki-4. Now I need your advice again. The problem is that the camera's shutter does not close all the way most of the time, which causes the left side of the frame to burn completely. See the vid related. Has anyone here dealt with this problem? I'm not that mechanically gifted, should I rather just recock shutter immediately or cap the lens and live with it, or attempt to fix it? I found a guide on how to fix a lazy shutter on a Fed and apparently there are some screws which adjust spring...

Just buy a new one, they're like $15.

Unfortunately all my available money is tied to other acquisitions at the moment, and it's not like I intend to make this my main system, just a little something to fool around for a breath of fresh air. I got it from a coursemate for free after all. Also I'm not really tempted to buy "new" Soviet gear because a new one might have this same problem after two rolls.

Never heard of her but judging from this photo she is everything wrong with modern photography. I hate her.
>>
>>2950314
Just looked at her site and IG, I don't understand why some photographers choose to only work with film.
Judging from her paid work for celebs and fashion shoots, she's successful and knows what she's doing.
I'd describe her documentary photography as well, good I guess.
What's more interesting is her fashion an portraiture work that shows a kind of conscious aesthetic gore, satiring Lo-fi analogue photography and design from the 80s.
If you ever pick up a late 80s entertainment...

It was a tie between Palmeiras (São Paulo) vs Grêmio (Rio Grande do Sul). The match happened in São Paulo, at Allianz Parque, Palmeiras stadium.

479 KB,
Is there some magical way to obtain reasonable resolutions of known photographer's works? I do not plan on stealing/printing them, I just want to be able to see some details without traveling to Prague or paying 500$+ for a single reprint and the ones available/fount on google are in really, really bad quality.
Jan Saudek is fine example of that, I'm unable to find any of his works really in reasonable resolution.
Is there a way?

Also favorite photographers and inspirations threat.

What are you? Stupid? Every famous photographer has books out there. And if you don't look for a limited original edition shittery, you can get a second hand collection book in a big format for 25€, for example from saudek. Are you retarded or something?

I think I have narrowed my choices down for a video shooting DSLR to a GX8 or a G7.

My reason for leaning towards the GX8 is the body is weather sealed and im not looking to hold onto it forever plus I live in NYC and winter is coming.

However idk if the g7 and gx8 are the exact same video wise.

Anyhow, I get a g7 I will use the kit lens for now but idk about the gx8, you guys have any good lens recommendations for it?

Get the G80/81/85.
It has better IBIS and is also weather sealed.
I have the G7 and no IBIS does suck. Especially with non-perfect equipment

Pressed Reply too early.
First: Go into the /gear/ or /vid/ thread!

Second: Don't buy with kitlens.
If your Budget is small get the 25mm 1.7. it's below 200 bucks.
If your Budget is big get the 12-35mm 2.8. it's parfocal and stabilized, which is awesome for Video.
Also, look into some Vintage lenses. It's Fun as fuck. Check out a nifty fifty for Portrait. And some 180-300mm primes like the Chinon 200mm 3.5. it's a Blast.
>>
>>2949519
Thanks man I will do both of those things, is the /vid/ thread actually popular?

Do you colour calibrate your monitors? What do you use? Thoughts?

I'm planning to get one but it's really hard to tell differences between many models.

I need to... but, first I need a better notebook...
>>
>>2949298
Really doesn't matter too much as people who view your stuff will always see something different, from phones to TVs, to computers, also doesn't matter unless professional work, but at that point you're invested and you can probably afford pricey monitors at $1000+ and they don't really need adjusted
>>
I use a ColorMunki because it was cheap and does well enough.

>>2949312
Nope. Even $3000-5000 monitors have to be calibrated. Higher end monitors give you a larger color gamut and stay accurately calibrated longer.

The goal of calibration for electronic viewing is to ensure the image has been created in an environment that is as accurate as possible so that the variance of color and density seen on other devices is due only to the inherent limits of that device and not compounded by the inaccuracy of the device...

Hi guys, would love some help here.

So ive been reading, lurking, watching videos for what feels like forever now. I am not a rich man but I want to make movies very badly, at the age of 22 I feel my potential time frame to make such things happen is closing (though that may seem stupid, idk)

Anyhow, after lurking and almost buying a T5i I think I may have decided upon buying an old Panasonic GH2 and installing the Sanity hack but I cannot decide on what lens to get. I do not think I will be holding on to the GH2 for very long as I want to upgrade to a GH4 in...
