125 KB,
So I got into photography earlier this year, and purchased a Cannon Rebel with a kit lens, and have been practicing with it over the summer. As time goes on, I'm beginning to think that this camera is just not capable of taking great photos.

After talking with a coworker who is a Professional Wedding photographer, who's insanely good, I started to think maybe I just need to get a better camera and nice lenses, so I can have much higher quality images.

Going on his suggestions, I'm about to buy pic related. The only other thing he suggested was a 75-200?? L lens, but I just can't afford to spend that kind of money on a lens right now. The one thing I do like, is that apparently this camera just came out, and he has the older model, so it'll be nice to be able to take better pictures than him.

Any suggestions before I pull the trigger?

This is 99% rotten ol' bait, but on the off chance that OP is being serious, close that order page and don't even fucking think about buying a new body, lens and flash.

Post the picture you are most proud of. Also, post the things you hope to do with the new camera that you can't do with the current.

There are endless rants on the internet already about gear being blamed on poor shooting when it's the person behind it that's to blame. You need to take a fuckton of shots with the rebel, run it into the ground and make your shutter explode,...

I like your photos for sure. Good work but the style is becoming pretty common. I'd like to see less "rap scene" photos and more model photos with emotional connection to the images.

Im trying to build up a good collection of photographs in Japan, please post your pictures.

Hi guys, I have a niche question regarding cameras, but I will need to give quite a bit of context beforehand...

I work for a company that inspects ceiling insulation for asbestos, along with a bunch of other things such as radiation levels, mould, noise, vibration, etc, but mostly ceiling insulation. We have hundreds of private clients, but our largest client is our state government (we have performed over 3000 jobs for them, and will be receiving 5000 more over the next couple of years as our contract with them has just been renewed).

Basically, residents register...

Our prerequisites are as follows:
- Camera cannot be susceptible to overheating easily. This is an ongoing issue we have with our current fleet of consumer point-and-shoots and smartphones. We are located in rural Australia where it can reach over 45°C (113°F) in the summer, let alone inside a ceiling. I understand this may rule out all mirrorless systems (or at least Sony) due to their sensor always having to be on.
- Built-in or kit lens must have at least 3x zoom. I know 18-55mm is basically...

My own research has led me to the Canon EOS 100D in white. It is smaller than all other DSLRs. It has decent image quality. The Canon 18-55mm kit lens is abundantly available, cheap, and easy to replace if one breaks down on us. The camera has been out since 2013 so the prices have dropped. The only thing it doesn't have is an in-built GPS, but I'm not sure if the Canon GPS module you can buy is too big so much as the flash won't be able to pop-up.

I hope you guys can help...

Maybe if you want small, pop up flash, etc, this could be a cheaper option

There's already a couple threads about this damn thing. It could be good, it could be shit, it has features other MF cameras already do in some capacity, so all that's left to see is how it does them better. Come back in 3~4 months.

fucking faggot OP pls do a search in catalog next time you post a third thread about it. SAGED this shit.

The money you save on the sensor, you get back in performance and build quality. I switched from a Fuji to an Olympus. The IQ is lower on the Olympus, but since I shoot everything on a tripod anyways, the raw files come out nearly identical. But it's more responsive, built better, and works fine with a smaller tripod which is just fine for long walks. It's easy to take with me even to work and my band's place in my laptop bag because of the 20mm 1.7 pancake, which is smaller and faster than the Fuji and Sony pancakes even after equivalency. This means even with...

TLDR: when you stop thinking about it as sensor VS sensor or brand VS brand and start judging each camera and lens on it's own merit and the pictures you can take with the limits it has, you'll find a camera that actually works for you, one you can't wait to go out and shoot with. The picture in the last post was taken with a 15mm bodycap lens, I wouldn't have the shot at all if I hadn't had that camera in my pocket (no phone could handle that dynamic range). Now it's printed in several sizes and at least 2 people had it as their wallpaper. And...

96 KB,
Fuji just revealed the GFX 50s 50mp medium format, kit with normal lens and viewfinder will be "well under 10k".
Sony is cooking some shit with mamiya, "rangefinder style MF".
Will medium format take over full frame cameras for the average pro photographer?

A lot of pros are already using Phase One, but back in the film days there were fields like sports and photojournalism that still used 35mm. Those are never going to go MF.

To buy/shopping list;

- Canon EOS 5D Mark IV (time to retire the 6D)
- Sigma 12-24mm f/4 ART lens (replacing the old 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 II)

Photokina 2016 has been a boon so far :3

DSLR vs Mirrorless. Will mirrorless make dslr obsolete? As most mirrorless cameras are APS-C, is it no longer a disadvantage to shoot with a smaller sensor?

DSLR will most likely stay relevant for a long time, because the autofocus technology will most likely stay ahead and they also consume less battery. Even if the autofocus advantage would disappear, some photographers simply prefer optical viewfinders. Mirrorless will become more powerful in the consumer segment and DSLRs will remain popular among enthusiasts and professionals.
