245 KB,
I heard girls get wet when posing for photos.

But Canon and Nikon looks like too much of a brand for nerds. Big cameras with big lenses and tons of buttons.

So, that leaves Sony and Leica. Both look like a modern gentleman's camera. They are small, minimalistic with an iphone like design.

But leicas are damn expensive.

Would I get away by erasing the sony logo and putting a red dot on the camera?

A6000 vs A6300. Is the A6300 a lot better? Or would I be better off getting the A6000 and using the money on glass? Looking on youtube and vimeo I definitely prefer the look of the 6300 but maybe it's a placebo, or people using it are just better/more professional.

Alright; instead of throwing this into the gear thread because it's more along the lines of the style of photography produced by these lenses.... I thought I'd ask outside that thread.

Looking to get a Cinematic / Anamorphic lens for roughly 300 USD.
I've been looking at the ISCO 2x with DLSR adapter as I'm shooting with a Nikon Df.
Are there any other lenses I may be missing? I did research and the only things I'm coming up with is
ISCO
and
Schneider

Pic relate is ISCO & Adapter for 299.

Has the digital camera and photo editing software killed photography as an art form?

Someone takes a shitty snapshot with no composition, no form or story, no thought into setup of the camera, then goes into Lightroom and applies filters and blasts up and down the blacks/whites, shadows/highlights, contrast, clarity, etc. and whalah, people end up worshiping hacks like Eric Kim.

Why learn to understand exposure, shoot with filters, learn film and developing in a darkroom, etc., when you can take unlimited shots of the subject until it looks right on the LCD screen?

Is photography dead? Is it just a washed up and water logged corpse of it's former self, fallen victim to the times of smartphone cameras, narcissistic social media drones, and incredibly boring generation of screen obsessed shut-in youth?

The pictures are what matter. The cameras don't matter. Whether they were recorded on film or on a digital sensor, what mode the camera was in, none of it matters.

The picture is the only thing that matters.

I wouldn't say that photography is dead, sure digital has changed photography almost entirely but it's also opened doors to a variety of new forms of artistic expression

For me the first thing I saw is lack of focus. You're photos will "pop" if they have distinct goal, message, or focus. What are you shooting in this picture? Do you want to show bridge one, bridge two, the car moving, the park, or the water? You captured it all at once and it's very overwhelming with nowhere for your eye to go. Pick one subject that you really want to focus on and really work on cropping in the viewfinder

Hello, /p/

Beginner photographer here, I need your assistance on how to guide people to pose for photos well. Are there any good cheatsheets or something for this kind of thing? Perhaps you can tell me about your own experience on what works best for pictures?

Talking about simple photoshoots with friends & family, nothing too fancy or for earning money (yet)

both portraits and full body shots
thank you in advance!

This is IMO a pretty difficult thing to learn.
I usually tag along with a pro as a 2nd shooter, JFK style.
If you do this then pay close attention to what the pro is doing, and why.
>>
>>2924163
>>2925098
Good advice. Offer to be a photography assistant. You'll be doing grunt work but you'll learn a lot assisting a pro. Also you just gotta get out there and give it a try. Try with friends then occasionally with non models who want their photos taken.

Take photos every day.
But don't just click the camera randomly at everything. Wait for the right moment, and physically move your ass to the right spot to take the photo. Don't just stop walking and then zoom in and then snap. Zooming all the time is for snapshits. If you want to be pro you set the focal length to what you are going for, then find a good spot to take the picture from.

The one exception is zooming in when you can't get any closer, or to remove a naked homeless man from the...

875 KB,
Ausfag here, looking for a cheap but reliable camera with good image quality. Had my eyes on the wx350 for a while now, but not sure if I'm willing to spend that much on a camera when my phone will be used to take most my images regardless.

Any advice? Any solid budget options? Saw a wx350 on eBay for 150 aud a few weeks ago, not sure I'd want to spend more than that anyways.

Got any advice for a poorfag?

Here's an image of my puppy taken with my phone so pic kinda related?

Keep shooting with your phone, it's just as good as the camera you're looking at.

Seriously? I saw the wx350 at jb hifi last year and it looked pretty awesome...

Plus the focus on the nexus 5 is really horrible. It can focus on one point in the image and everything else around it gets noticeably blurry most of the time.

The camera you're looking at is a point and shoot (P&S) that does everything for you: It chooses shutter speed and aperture - both are basically the only ways of changing how a photo looks like, except for ISO. Your phone camera does the same, except for the fact that it has a constant aperture.
If you want something more serious, I suggest you look for a different camera and plan to invest more. Otherwise your phone is just as capable as any P&S camera.

254 KB,
why is there no decent photographer (like JoeyL/andreas gursky or some digital equivalent) that uses a 5D Mark II or 5D Mark III? I haven't a single image from these cameras with the 'wow'-factor. Like colors, image quality, subject representation. Nothing.

If you know any, link below. Not to hate on Canon, but I see tons of photographers using Nikon or MF cameras a lot more, like Lara Jade and JoeyL.

Because 5D is just advanced soccermom tier.
/p/ 5D owners are going to disagree, but once you take a look at their shots you're going to realize I'm right.
For serious stuff you should go for the 1D series.

Hi. :3 gh4 is a sweet camera, but it's really expensive for a micro four thirds camera. I can't see why I would buy one over an a7 because it's already too big to be a mini carryaround camera
>>
>>2923745
It's m43 and has kind of smaller pixels so the low light performance is bad, but it's an okay video camera, good ish sensor
I personally don't like m43 cameras

How do people get moving shots like this?

Is the camera on a circular track? I don't understand how the curved movement is achieved.

I don't follow/know anything about car photography, but I would guess it's a composite image?

It could be achieved by using a tripod and slow shutterspeed, where you pan with camera, then hitting the car with strobes to freeze it. But I would see that being quite hard to do for car photography.

So contrasty. The blacks are really dark and you lose detail. The green is a little too punchy for my taste. I like to desaturate my foliage a bit to give it a more natural look. I also would've gone a lot wider for this one. Not to mention the subject is generally uninteresting.

Should have been framed more to the right. You cut away an edge of the tent and could have placed the wire with the clothes in the upper left corner.

Butterfly 1 (edit, 8X10).jpg
969 KB,
Hey /p/haggots. Not a board regular here at all, but I've been thinking about trying to seriously get into casual amateur photography. Not to be a pretentious prig, just because I am a shallow visual whore and taking pretty pictures of pretty things is a lot of fun.

So, a few years ago I bought a shitty little compact camera on my very limited budget. I quickly realized how I had limited myself with my poor choice in camera, a NIkon Coolpix . S8200. I have finally got myself a small fun-budget again and was thinking about looking into getting myself a proper DSLR. I googled "top beginner DSLRs" and the best thing I could find was a Nikon D3300 for $325.

It doesn't look terrible, but it seems that all of the "beginner DSLRs" are filled to bursting with hold-your-hand beginner features that attempt to automate everything they can. I am certain that I'd immediately outgrow these once I got the hang of manual function, but it seems upon looking at the next step up, the price goes up considerably.

So, what I'm getting at is a "are there any $300 - 600 mid-range DSLR that would be good for me?" thread that I'm sure you board is unfortunately probably filled with, and I'm sorry about that. So I'll post some of my mediocre-at-best pics I took with my S8200 to make it a bit more proper.

Hey /p/, somebody gifted me this really old DSLR but without the remote, and I can't find anywhere to buy it at a reasonable price (I found it somewhere but I could buy another fucking DSLR for its price).
Without the remote I can't do long exposure shots, there's NO remote shutters available for this thing. The fuck do?

no it's the exact same effect, you won't have a difference. The problem is that you can miss some good shot opportunities (like with fireworks for example, you need to be ready, if you want a good shot, and not something random)

Howdy /p/. Took a few pictures at a Renaissance Fair recently; most were garbage. A few were only moderately awful.

Shot on Fuji Superia 400; not sure if I should have gone for 200 considering it was overcast, but I was still stopping down to f/8 or f/16 in most of these.
