And that's why it's not a professional tier camera. If you can't point it off a cliff without it fucking up, it is not going to meet the demands of a pro in the field. And that is BEFORE you even factor in their shitty customer service

William Klein is one of them too
>>
28mm is basically the worst focal length.

I own two cameras- a canon powershot sx50hs, and a nikon d3300.

the powershot is infinitely better than the D3300. It shows you real time what your photo will look like before you take it, allows you to shoot in raw, has better zoom than my dedicated zoom lens for the nikon, allows for external flash, it's convenient and compact and doesnt require for me to switch to a zoom lens. The pictures also just come out better right after taking them, little to no editing required.

Why the fuck would I use an inconvenient dslr which will require me to edit my photos later anyway, over this beauty?

Hey /p/ham question here
What makes Leica lenses great?
What sets their lenses apart from others?
Coatings? Glass elements?
What on an engineering aspect makes their lenses so superior?
What makes their out dated and vintage lenses superior to modern lenses?
What do Leica lenses offer that other lenses don't?
Please no responses of just "they're sharper"
I want to understand what makes Leica superior and why they've been considered superior for the past 50 years

only thing they really offer is good build quality, small size , and excellent image quality
>>

When talking about their film cameras: they did what they were supposed to do very fucking well and with a precision that makes them feel good to use. If you don't know what it's like to use a precisely tooled instrument to achieve a task, then there's not really a good way to describe it. Hasselblad kinda has the same thing going on. It's just an excellently designed machine that works the way it's supposed to. Whether or not you want that is another matter entirely.

In the digital...

Any of you guys know a bit about cinemagraphs and the best ways to approach making them? Seems like a really fun way to combine the best of photos and videos for websites.

I have a 7Dii and figure that I have two options for creating one:

1. shoot a cinemagraph as if it were a series of photos, burst mode of 10 frames per second, and then stitch the photos together and edit into a video. or
2. ...just shoot in video mode.

is it worth the smoothness of the extra frames if shot in 30fps, or is it worth the better picture quality of just stitching 10 photos...

...or is it even more that I should look at approaching a cinemagraph as a composite? use the same camera, take a well-lit picture, and then composite the moving elements filmed?
>>
>>2909299
just googled cinemagraphs and that shits cool

watched a 5 min youtube vid and it seems very simple

shoot video on tripod
use a combination of layers and masks to achieve result
save as .gif

im asking because the information ive found on google, while there's a lot of it, is all the same and all very basic. i feel like the best cinemagraphs ive seen online are a lot more complicated than all the basic how-to's make them out to be. but I guess this style of photography/video really is more unknown than I thought. which is a shame because it seems like a no-brainer commercial tool for websites.

some say gif format but a few say HTML5, which makes sense for a smaller format size and more...

You're already on it.

Flickr if you use the groups and find a good active group and have patience. You'll rarely get anything good out of the site on it's own.
500px, you may get a passing comment here or there and a tonne of likes.
Instagram, much the same but I don't think I've ever seen any legit C&C.

Mostly you have to look for critique and not be an ass when you get it.

It does seem like everyone on this page is a lot better the rest of 4chan. I really excited to get my new camera, have not had one in like 4 or 5 years and never go any good with it because i didnt have it very long. one of my biggest problems is that i dont have any training and dont know where to start. been watching youtube videos, so i guess im going to just have to self teach myself for the most part.

So I've recently gone out and bought myself an old camera (it uses old 35mm film) And after a closer inspection I've noticed that the lens release button is half lodged in place, to the point where I can't push it in any further or get the lens off. I've tried gently hitting it and pushing the sticking out side, I've also tried using an air can but to no avail. Any help?

I tried to open it, anon. I'm sticking an air horn can inside and but to no avail and my neighbors even complained about the noise. I thought maybe the vibrations would shake the button loose. I'm going to try supergluing the button to the end of a chop stick and see if that gives me more leverage. If that doesn't work, my plan B is to try to gently pry the lens off with a can opener. Hopefully the pressure from the air horn will have jarred it loose? I have a syringe, so I could inject liquid soap or...

you gonna wanna learn what effect different apertures give you and when to use them if you wanna use aperture priority

theres a shit load of tutorials on youtube covering aperture, shutter speed, exposure etc, just keep watching and practicing

learn how to compose your shots too, rule of thirds is a good start but it doesnt always apply, you gonna wanna think about your foreground/background, what your subject is etc

once you start taking some decent pictures youre also gonna wanna get some...

start with cambridgeincolour.com/tutorials
I personally am a huge fan of the book "Understanding Exposure" by Bryan Peterson

Aside from those, shoot, experiment with settings to see what they do (I'm a proponent of starting in priority modes to get a solid understanding of what aperture does, then shutter, and then play with manual if you want to, but if you're in manual and just lining up the arrow with the center, you're learning nothing).

Youtube's a great resource....

If you shoot anything that isn't stationary aperture priority isn't what you want. Unless blur.

if youre not really into photography and just want easy quick photos and videos then yea they are good

if you want decent quality pics in a range of situations then get a second hand dslr

dslr will give you clear good quality pics in most situations where as go pro is just point an shoot with no zoom and a wide angle wich isnt always ideal
>>
>>2907830
over priced and not really worth the cost.
>>
>>2907832
I have used GoPro a few times. There are other makes out there that are cheaper and better for that sort of photography. I agree with your statement 100%.

type filters into the search bar at the top of your browser

I just took my camera out of my bad and noticed a few water drops in the lens. How bad is this? Also is the camera/lens damaged if so how?

Sounds like it's pretty much totaled. Once condensation forms, it's game over. Start shopping for a new camera. Donate the old one to Salvation Army or part it out on ebay.
Sorry for your loss, OP.
>>
>>2907622
White rice is really good for removing condensation. Cook up a cup or two of white rice (or get some from your fav Chinese take out joint), then let it cool off a little bit until it's just luke warm. Use your hands to mold the rice around the outside of the camera. If you have a detachable lens, use a wooden or plastic spoon (not metal, don't want scratches) to pack the rice really tightly inside of the lens and camera body. It might sound strange but it really does work on cameras, and on cel phones, too,...
Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

Dude the rice isn't supposed to be cooked wtf, if it's cooked then it's already puffed up and saturated with moisture.

407 KB,
I used Canon EOS M with 18-55mm kit lens and Nokia 808. Photos were shot in JPEG, and very hastily processed in Lightroom. WARNING! Saturation was often cranked to rockwellian levels in camera.

Feedback is welcome.

I'm going to kick off the thread by asking one more time if anyone has used a Canon Pro 1 before, and if they have any advice before I dive in and start fucking shit up? Bought it last week, still haven't plugged it in. It is in situ though, and I bought my first small pack of paper yesterday. Ilford 'Galerie Prestige' 310GSM Smooth Pearl in A4.

I'll probably be breaking it in by printing some cheesy wedding photos I took in the last few weeks.
Shot something like 20 rolls for one and 12 for the other. Only have a handful of 120 colour negs still to dev, but a buttload of scanning to get through.

132 KB,
Hi there, /p/. The 2016 4chan Summer Cup is well underway and /p/ is making a grand show on the pitch. I'm sorry I didn't get to posting a thread earlier, but I have been absolutely swamped with school lately.

At the moment, we are sitting on one win and one loss in the group stages against /f/ and /r9k/, respectively. Both matches were wild rides and I highly recommend you check out the replays (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLID-OwjTLx67bcj5psi_OM-Acz3_oVxnK).We square off against /s/ on Sunday morning (approximately 11.30 MST/17.30 UTC). Follow the Hitbox link on implyingrigged.info for the stream.

I have some virtual sports photography to share from the last two matches. Here we see a few of the star players on the team celebrating Gearfag's third goal in the match against /r9k/. He is surrounded by Bokeh, Ken Rockwell, Resize Your Shit, and Crush the Blacks.

In the next four seconds of gameplay, Gearfag jukes the ball past four defenders to nab one of the most impressive goals in the cup so far. It has to be seen to be believed, you can find it in the replays I linked in the OP.
