Resurrection thread. A mashup of Jim Bowens MiniatureDungeonAdventures (+ a splash of FlipIt) with 40k.
Come back and post more, OP of the last thread!
This was all I saved from it.
Why the fuck does /po/ only have one page now?
I haven't been here in a while
Can't post the pic but some faggot started spamming the same thread over and over again. Then /sp/ joined, forcing out the legit threads. Then after some hours of reporting some mod showed up and with it technically deleted 80% of /po/.
Here are the different SM chapters.
Necrons coming up.
I probaly have everything saved from the thread.
If a job's worth doing it's worth dying for.
I'm afraid of bumping too fast and shoving something off the board or some shit. I don't even know why this thread got 404-t in the first place.
Good thing I hoard bunch of stuff I come across so I save everything.
Template for the Space Marines.
Here's the archieve link for the previous thread though if anyone wants.
Here are some other kind of terminators.
also dumping all the built pictures. And the original OP better fucking deliver those Tau or else...
Sure, lots of different ways.
If you have access to Adobe Acrobat you can edit the pdf directly.
Or, if you have access to a vector art program (like illustrator or inkscape) you can import a page at a time and edit it.
Or you could use a 'pdf to jpeg' tool/service to convert the pdf into images and then edit them with something like Microsoft Paint etc (although if you're gunna use Paint, then Id recommend the also free but far superior Paint.Net - see www.getpaint.net - as MS Paint is fucking garbage).
btw - Thanks Anon for reposting the thread - you're a star!
Wb man! so any progress updates?
So freaking sweet, i'm going to build Necrons and White scar Marines and have a warhammer game set on a table, and take pictures so we have an awesome way to present them.
One more questions, can you probably make a paper version of the imperial bunker? would be pretty cool to have and some walls. (or direct me to some).
My flipit armies are destroyed, my mom mistook the box for "trashpaper", damn.. so many hours of work gone.
I shall post some images of what I have until now, also busy making Hawk Lords space marines. (could upsilonman help me for the shoulder pad logo?)
So I have some necrons, Overlord has a scarab on it's base for deco, immortal has a fallen aquila from a fallen SM on it's base, and the third necron is on a black rocky base. (white is from glue who wasn't dry, too eager too shoot.)
The helmet is from a fallen imperial guard and I'll probably use as a marker in games.
Planning to make 2 or 3 armies so me and friends can play CheapHammer 40k.
Funny SM I made, he makes me think of a CSM and it gives them a mean look to put a fine line above their eyes.
It's fun to add some details with pencils/markers on them (check the space wolf for example.)
easy way to make them a bit more unique
Yeah will keep updating pictures whenever I have some more built.
Btw could you make 1 hawk lord space marine? Can't get the shoulder pads to look right. (but take your time, you have so much to do.)
Oh go on then. You did post the first build pics of sm chibis, so here's a Hawk Lord.
Wait, thats dumb. I might as well fill the page with them
btw anyone up to make droppods and necron arks? wanna make working armies, and not really good at design. thx again for the hawk lords.
I'll rename myself hadek, used to have that as name but yeah.. anon oblige.
Are you aware of Elli Patoroch's work?
Lots of 40k vehicles have models already (although not so much necron stuff) - pretty sure there's drop pods there already.
The spam filter is blocking me from posting links but if you search for 40k and that name you should find plenty.
ah yeah, just wanted a bit more blocky versions more in line with the blocky models. i'll just be patient and use patoroch models.
Also I made a mediafire where we can store everything in 1 place:
my first steps with Inkscape. wanted to try out the color scheme for another model.
Cool, nice build. Will be watching this with interest.
Slaaneshy csm by chance?
Speaking of terminators, Ive had a go at building one.
It's me again with some more build pics, my printer ran out so I coudn't make my hawk lord yet but meanwhile finished the other already printed templates I had.
First up an overview of xenos scum, with 1 more necron, and 1 of each of the preview template models.
Another one, a close up of the CSM, it looks awesome.
Next up is an ultramarines Strike Squad alpha start.
Terminator was fiddly to assemble, but overal it looks good.
last one for today is the fact I now have atleast 1 model for each first chapter of space marines.
I use regular paper, and white wood glue, it gives the joint a nice solid feel when dry and makes them solid.
I glue the bases to cardboard and then darker their edge with a black sharpie.
Not much you can mess up and those models are easy to built, it's simply cutting them out (scissor or x-acto knife), folding them (crease out all folds before glueing), and glue them togheter.
for u.s. people elmers glue is one they recommend a lot too.
Tools are not much, 1 brush, 1 little spatula to apply glue (depending on glue.) and scissors or x-acto knives.
Print out 1 sheet, not thousand at once and if you can choose between inkjet or laser, do use the inkjet (Creases looks better inkjet.)
Myriad of ways to papercraft, but that's my method so hope it helps and inspires you.
Nice thanks for the advice, well i was already llooking for those kind of x-actio knives, but not sure if that is so usefull. Lets first try with some propper sciccors.
big thanks for the info man, always thought i was on special paper.
Finally Ive got the space communists about ready! (man that took ages...)
Here's a build pic for folks to give feedback on before I upload the template.
Here's the template.
With this you can make (deep breath); fire warriors, path finders, ethereals, gun drones, marker drones, shield drones, missile drones, sniper drones (+ the spotter), crisis suits, stealth suits, vespids, kroot AND a commander.
And with that Im done with chibi 40k for now. I know several folks wanted orks/csm but Ive burnt myself out on this a bit and wanna play with other projects Ive neglected. I may do a few bits and bobs here and there but it'll be sporadic from now on. So please - if anyone wants to fill the gaps and - go for it!
I *might* try to pick up where you left and jump on the Waaagh wagon while i'm at it, just to make some designing experience. Exactly, what tools did you use, how did you scale the models and stuff?
I have no idea what country you hail from, but I hope this brofist may reach you with maximum respect.
Thanks folks! Newobmij especially - I'll say it again, none of this would have happened with your awesome work on MDA, FlipIt & 40k stuff :D
I'll definitely be lurking + doing bits n bobs. Just didn't want anyone to think I was busy churning out the next race...
All Ive needed is a drawing program. Ive gone the vector route and use Adobe Illustrator. If thats too pricy for you Ive heard good things about Inkscape which is free (not actually used it though).
I used Newobmij's Mini Dungeon Adventure characters as a base and then searched the net for pics that I could draw over + use as reference. Im not an artist or designer so thats the easiest way I could get results I was happy with.
The main thing is to have the heart to believe in yourself. That + stealing the work of people more talented than you and claiming it as your own. Actually, it's mainly the second one.
Tying inkscape and learning vectors. Shit's cool and hard at the same time. Working on Orkz, they seem the easiest to make for my skills, think is i'm not a great fan of them so i don't really know them. From what i gather i should make lots of basic boyz and nobs and just make pages and pages of equipment and scrap pieces that will be glued on to them, maybe dividing them in tank killas, kommando, weirdboy and such. Looking for something i can use to make killacans. And again, thanks for this stuff bro.
Making lots of generic orks + sheets of weapons and bits sounds spot on.
For the cans, you could use the ones made by Elli Patoroch although they tend to be quite detailed so maybe necessary to simplify them.
Elli Patoroch has great killa kans and dref dread they are a bit hard but great ( i made the pic today) the orc would need a lot of boyz for sure also you may try Commando , Wierd boyz , mek , stormboyz , also it would be interesting how mega Nobz would look like
Im thinking of changing the chibi templates to remove the bases and put them in separate files. This will mean a) you can use/create the base style of your choice, b) won't waste a ton of black ink on bases you may not want!
So to start, here's a blank template - to either fill in or print onto the coloured card of your choice.
someone asked for a bunker the other day.
not yet but something else.
Hello. I love it.
I actually never come here but I saw jim bowens tumblr and I noticed I can't harass him with anonymous messages so I was gonna post pics of papercombat until I summoned him.
I love his little papercraft style minatures and I want more so this is just super.
I've got plenty of buildings but they're styled for regular 40k figs, not these
Here's a necron monolith that might work in aesthetic
different SM behind an Aegis segment (single sided)
I got bunkers and plenty of them
some are jpg, others are pdf
I ain't dead and i'm working on orkz, i'm just going slowly because i've run into some more pressing deadlines, but expect a buildable pdf in a week or so. Chose to go with a "Build your warboss/ork/whatever" feel, meaning that for everything there's a lot of possibilities (Armored torso, bare torso, painted torso, scarred and such, ork with shirt/no shirt, checkered boots and whatnot) + a bunch of pages of orky stuff like ork banners, ork weapons and bits that people can put toghether.
Tau pdf aint here either. Cant upload it again as "Duplicate file exists"
Possibly yours is cached?
Test on 80g paper. I'll try to get the bugs out during weekend.
Well, I have two printers I haven't used yet, a stack of 20 lb./75g/in paper, and I haven't cut anything in my life... So, I'll try to give this a shot and see if I don't become depressed in the process because the paper may or may not be wrong and because I haven't really cut anything before?
Bros, any1 can make file with all PDFs? I just can't reach them, even I tried...
save them this time
So anyone is making any more of these? I tried and mine turned out horribly.
I always sucked at designing stuff, so I hope some nice souls will continue so we can have a full army list of those models.
Hello everyone, just here to say that I'm finding these models turning really well and that I'm actually working on the Space wolves one. But you shall be patient cause these are my first experience with Inkscape and I have an invasive work beside. Hope the other developers would stay active. Hope you'll be enjoying.
i recolored and give some bits and pieces to the orks and the ogryn . They don't look to great but i think its a start :)
Hello back, here for some news. I achieve the basis of SW termis, the details and runics will be moduals that you glue on it. For termis, still the heads, the "moduals" and the weaponry. Enjoy the pic related !
That's looking awesome, I can't wait to see the full thing in action! Also kind of depresses me that I also can't make some kind of stuff like this on my own, let alone properly abuse InkScape as many of you guys have.
Ok i'm done with the Ork coloring for now they not the best but i hope that some of you find it god :) : The Orks
I came up with some bikers too, although I wish I had your bikes' colours
Here are my Painboy, KFF Mek, Nob and Warboss
Brothers, I sacrificed 3 days to translate traditional MDA to POLISH language. If you want, I can give instructions to normal MDA on v. 1 (if I correctly remember) in my language or translate it back to english. Still I don't have blueprints of normal characters in MDA. I will be totally thankful if any of you will upload that. Also, there PDFs are unobtainable. Any instructions to MDA 40k?
Id love to do the other races but Im too busy on other projects now (and dont see that changing any time soon) :(
Don't think anyone has made MDA 40k rules. Ive just been using these chibi's with the standard rules - and even better with the fan made 'kill Team - heralds of ruin' (google that phrase) which is PERFECT as being a skirmish game you dont have to make hundreds of chibis
