Zimbabwe will not charge American dentist Walter Palmer for killing its most prized lion in July because he had obtained legal authority to conduct the hunt, a cabinet minister said on Monday, angering conservationists.
Palmer, a lifelong big-game hunter from Minnesota, stoked a global controversy when he killed Cecil, a rare black-maned lion, with a bow and arrow outside Hwange National Park in Western Zimbabwe.
But Palmer's hunting papers were in order, Environment Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri said on Monday. Consequently, he could not be charged.
"We approached the police and then the Prosecutor General, and it turned out that Palmer came to Zimbabwe because all the papers were in order," Muchinguri-Kashiri told reporters.
Pretty typical. Most people won't hear about it though. All they saw was the huge controvery, How this bad white man killed these nigger's favorite lion.
only a small few will hear the truth that he obtained all the proper paperwork and that they welcomed him with open arms to kill a lion in their country and it was their own terrible management that lead to this particular "celebrity" lion being hunted accidentally. as if he was supposed to know this thing was their prized possession. which deep down we all know they could not give two shits about. you think they want his money or some goddamn lion they have to feed and take care of?
I really, really wish that self-proclaimed environmentalists would take a moment to understand just how important hunting is to conservation efforts. If that simple acknowledgment was made, then a lot of common ground could be achieved.
>Killing a lion whilst giving the host country money to aid it's economy
>equivalent to killing millions of your own people for your political agendas
I don't think so Shlomo
yes he could, but it would be a difficult case, he would have to prove they were slandering/writing lebel, but it would be difficult bc the news networks are "unbiased"
