>4chan is better than other forums >muh anonymous no identities free speech >failing to realize anons police themselves to weed out "unacceptable" behavior and demand conformity even more than any traditional forum could hope to do >this means less free discussions >they do all this even though they're anonymous epic
>>397658 >used to Don't get comfortable anon. They haven't gone anywhere. A few /l/ threads here and there are more or less outliers in the grand scheme of things. Give it another six months then reassess the situation.
>>397652 You act like in a similar manner to /s4s/ on other boards but not irl. Alternatively you browse pages like this often: http://www.reddit.com/r/4chan/comments/3p7sg7/policy_changes_and_general_news_that_has_nothing/
>>397657 >I browse reddit but I have been here since 2006
WOW WHAT AN OLDFAG
Yeah fucking right. You've been here since almost ten years now and browse reddit? A true oldfag would be disgusted by you, but it doesnt matter since you're lying anyways just to justify going to reddit. When people ask if we should ban all redditors, it's true.
No, because this is more tech related than video games. If I were to make a thread to compare video cards for those interested in video editing, does that mean it doesn't belong on /g/? What if I compared workstation graphics cards? Is that more office related than /g/? No, so why does comparing video cards for those who play vidya make it video game related? It's still video cards and spec threads regardless of what they intend on doing with that hardware.
/asp/ right now is split between two groups: people who participate in and discuss alternative sports, and wrestling fans.
/asp/ has always been split between those groups, but nobody minded too much because everybody stuck to their general threads. But since the name change of the board, /asp/ has been completely overwhelmed with constant wrestling threads.
The alternative sports people are sick of having to sift through dozens of wrestling threads to find now buried sports threads, and I'm sure the wrestling fans are sick of us complaining about their presence.... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>397587 But they already have a containment board, you are on it. /asp/ was created specifically for them. If you dont like it then make more threads and bring more traffic to your generals to drown them out
>>397545 I view respect as making an effort to understand people you don't agree with. I think we should respect everyone. You don't need to have "respect" for somebody you agree with as you already like them.
>>397545 Everyone gets half of my respect starting out. I'll smile at strangers, tell them to have a good day, hold the door for them and try not to make anyone uncomfortable. Essentially, I treat everyone the way that I would want to be treated if I were having a bad day. If they show that they are mature, put others before themselves, and stand up for that in which they believe (even if it's something I vehemently oppose), they get more of my respect. If they show that they are indecisive when it matters, immature, or easily persuaded to compromise their beliefs for the sake of convenience, they lose respect. I think it's a good system for everyday life.
Pretty much every board has generals. Video games may have generals on /vg/ permanently, in between episodes like VNs or years after release of games. Ongoing shows have historically had generals as well, with speculative discussion during hiatus, and fanart and fanfiction being shared. But now, mods are militarizing the type of spaz fits they had with MLP causing it to be pushed into /mlp/. Various generals (Game of Thrones, Steven Universe) have been deleted, and the threat, though not reflected in the rules, is that generals will be deleted and banned. In the... Comment too long. >>397541 Generals have never been allowed and all of them need to be fucking banned. Disagreeing with the mod in that post makes you a fucking moron. There is no reason or excuse for having a thread up for a topic 24/7
