If experience machine is ever possible, what kind of life would people choose? In the beginning they probably gravitate towards euphoric experiences, but most would get bored after while (like when people get bored of MDMA). After that made stories would be the next thing. But full sense experience is very difficult to "compose" from nothing, so using historical persons as templates seems reasonable.
People would have a chance to live as their favorite past celebrity, as no information about anyone other exist. That means succesful people get to live their point...

I see your point. But you underestimate the simultaneous stupidity and creativity of people.
If it´s hard to not be your average shitposter after being Jesus, von Neumann & Co, then people will shake the fucking heavens to not be that basement-dwelling loser.
Because most people just suck so much, you wouldn´t wanna live their life. That´s why NEET-Chan created the concept od Eternal Recurrence.

It doesn't work. Everything learned in the past years is in the trash now. On the other side, I often happen to read about people who can easily commit to memory everything they want. How do I develop such a quality? There's no point in studying different areas of mathematics and physics if I forget everything I learn.
>>
Basically memory works better the more things you remember, wether consciously or unconsciously.
Which sounds paradox at first because you'd thinm the more you had to memorize the harder it is.

However the more you memorize the easier it is to build chains to recall memories. The more regions of your brain you activate the more individual and active the memory is and the easier it is to recall it.
For example a lot if studies show that chewing gum helps a lot for memory. That's because you remember the taste, then you remember what you did while exoeriencing...

x^2 is never negative. x^2+4 is positive.
>>
>>8330990
For the left side to be smaller than 0 (negative), the denominator has to be negative, and there is no way for (x^2)+4 to be negative.

It doesn't matter if you set x as a negative number because you are squaring it.
>>
x^2 is always positive because when you square any number, it will become positive. Ex: -3^2=9 (-3*-3=9)

As long as you make sure there's no galaxy between you and the cosmological horizon, you're never gonna run into anything, no matter how long you go.

Is space distinguishable? Is there a smallest unit of space? Well let’s test out these theories:

If space is infinitely divisible, then for a given length of space between 2 objects, there are an infinite amount of points between them. That means that each point in between there journey would be occupied on their way there. Any transition between these points would have to be conducted of some unit of time that is greater than zero, as these objects can not be in 2 places at once. But since there are an infinite amount of points, there is an infinite amount of time.

Can someone explain the fourier series? I can't get my head around this shit.
30 replies and 5 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
>>8330451
A fourier series is a way to represent a wave function by a series of simple sin functions.

For example take the sine wave, a single sine wave would be curvy. But if we combine many different sine waves we will get closer to a sawtooth function.

Fourier analysis is taking these more complicated functions, sawtooth, square, etc and expressing them instead as a collection of simple sine waves.

google the philosophy of time. spend a week or two being thoroughly confused. then drop the subject.
>>
Flow of time is illusion caused by our brain. Time doesn't flow forward, but our brains experience the time flowing forward. Our brains can only think in 3 dimensions, so we experience our life as 3-dimensional "slices" as "flowing" as linear order. In reality "past" and "future" are just directions. Everything that happens has already happened, and everything that has already happened is still happening, while actually nothing happens, but we are just observing the universive from different angles of 4th dimension.

We don't...

Philosophy is cancer and has nothing to do with science. Basically the argument goes that the flow of time is an illusion created by our brain. However this has never been proven, also things inherently not under control of our brains behave as if time flows, and don't magically pop through the fourth dimension or some crap. Also we know from relativity that time isn't even linear and also is part of the fabric that makes up our universe and is not a figment of our brains.

So yeah, philosophy is pretty...

Time is not another dimension in the traditional sense.

Lets say that you are a 3D observer in a 4D space and you are in some 3D space inside that 4D space.

Now imagine you hop to another 3D space (in 4D there are infinitely many 3D spaces), what you will see there is a completely different 'world'. Nothing you saw has any parallel with this other 3D space.

If you want to think it in geometry, no point you saw in your original space is or has any relation to the points in this other space.

But...
