The only way this could be useful would be if there was a massive preexisting amount of humans and materials to feed and breed them for a long time and all that was readily available to the machines

I was bored and I decided to figure this shit out.

Anwering a very prevalent (for gamers at least) question today.
- If I have 1/3 chance to get a Vaporeon, will I get at least one if I evolve 3 Eevees?
- If I'm looking for an item which is dropped by a monster at 10% chance, will I get at least one if I kill 10 of them?
- If 1 in 5 people like <skub>, will I find at least one if I make 5 new friends?

Short answer :
- The confidence in the above scenarios approach 0.632.
- If you double the number of tries, the confidence rises...

The questions you're asking can't be answered with science.
>If I have 1/3 chance to get a Vaporeon, will I get at least one if I evolve 3 Eevees?
You should instead ask
>If I have 1/3 chance to get a Vaporeon, what are the chances I get at least one if I evolve 3 Eevees?
This is the type of question that math can answer.
>>
>>8272810
> If I have 1/3 chance to get a Vaporeon, will I get at least one if I evolve 3 Eevees?

The chance of not getting a Vaporeon is 2/3. The chance of not getting Vaporeon 3 times is (2/3)^3 = 8/27

And that chance is pretty significant.

- If I'm looking for an item which is dropped by a monster at 10% chance, will I get at least one if I kill 10 of them?

You have a 90% = 9/10 chance of not getting it. To not get it after 10 tries is (9/10)^10 = 3486784401/10000000000

Why is dentistry so obsessed with treating diseased mouths via patchwork methods like remineralization and temporary sterilization, and mechanical cleaning? These only achieve a temporary halt in degradation that is presently taking place. They do not prevent future degradation, or remove the underlying cause of said degradation.

Why not focus on preventing oral disease in the first place via recommending a diet nearly devoid of cooked, soft carbohydrates and nearly all sugar, and prescribing oral probiotics such that pathogenic bacteria have a harder time infecting you?

Can we have a thread to discuss Genetics and Behavior?
Three major conclusions of Behavioral Genetics.
1) all behavioral traits and disorders are influenced by genes.
2) environmental influences tend to make members of the same family more different, rather than more similar.
3) the influence of genes tends to increase in relative importance as individuals age.
