If theres still any competent anons using 4chan, how do we get rid of dumbfucks likes this?
/sci/ is literally /shitpost/ and it makes /x/ and /b/ seem like professional genius conversations.

There's this magic tool called a "filter." I recommend filtering * on /sci/. I find it removes 100% of shitposting with an extremely low false positive rate.

20 KB,
Hey /sci/, College student here. Which of these two O-chem books would you recommend. If you've used one, or both, do you have any comments about it?

Vollhardt and Schore
or
McMurry, 8th edition
>>
>>7718353

I've found McMurry pretty good, it's a common standard text for many O-chem courses for a reason.

I've never used Vollhardt. If you're looking for a supplementary text for your course, Klein is great for self-study/simple explanations (but, Wade is more comprehensive, and Clayden is advanced with anything you need for a first semester course and more.

Physics question

If something is extremely large, like galaxy sized, would it's speed naturally increase with its size relative to normal moment such as walking or throwing a punch? Or would it take a million years to do anything?
>>
>>7718341
> anime physics
Not sure I'm just guessing but I'd say yes, to a degree
Say there's something that's big enough that it's natural speed reaches 99% the speed of light
If it's any bigger it will not get any faster no matter how big it gets
>>
>>7718341
in general big things tend to move slower than small things.

Also relativity. The galaxy throwing robot from gurren lagann is all kinds of not possible

>tfw you fell for the Computer Science meme

Yeah I have a decent job now (for being 24) but half of my coworkers just have their associates/no credentials at all. I could have done higher math, engineering, or really any science and just learned CS shit on the side. I could have learned something really specific and cool and worked with real intellectuals instead of Indians, Chinese people and fat manchildren.

Underage of /sci/, learn from my mistake. Get a respectable major. Just independently learn CS.

9 KB,
The only evolution that has been scientifically attested is on a very small scale and within narrow limits. To conclude from this "micro-evolution", which no one contests, that there could be such a thing as "mega-evolution" - that for example, the class of birds could have evolved from the class of reptiles - is not merely conjecture but perverse conjecture. Micro-evolution demonstrates the presence in nature of all sorts of unseen barriers that ensure the stability of the various classes and orders of animals and plants and that invariably cause transformation,...

>>7718069
Either aliens or God guided the macro-evolution.
And you are right evolution in general can be laboratory tested, but in the state we exist now and considering how shitty the universe was with making life- we should've been earth worms by now.

92 KB,
Hey, /sci/, /pol/ here. I have a question about the theory of evolution

Well, Darwin proved micro-evolution exists, and school teached me that his theory can explain every kind of evolution.
My question is "what about MACRO-evolution", for example, how a specie can increase its number of chromosome ? An organism with this mutation, with one chromosome more, would be sterile, no ?
>>
>being this dumb
not suprised that youre from /pol/

>school teached me

kek

>My question is "what about MACRO-evolution",

There is no qualitative distinction between "micro" and "macro." What some call macro is simply micro on a longer time scale. Thus your "for example" is not really an example of anything, but just a specific question.

>for example,...

Any bio guy here?

What's your opinions on hens and chickens?

I think they're cute.
:3

I feel sorry how we treat them.
>>
They are also useful in biomechanics ... https://youtu.be/_dPlkFPowCc

>>7718016

From a biochemist's point of view, they're an excellent source of protein for eating in bulk.
>>
>>7718016
From a Genetecs Engineers perspective I agree with both the fact that they are delicious and they are cute. This means unfortunately a dillema of ethics and natural gut feeling which led my research efforts into cloning and growing muscle tissue individually from brain matter in a laboratory....
