What are the ethics of nuclear bomb scientists?
Anyone know a fast way to calculate Δv?
Discuss. No religion please.
Project adeline is superior in everyway to what spaceX is doing.
>>Fuck spaceX go Airbus!
Why is the core of the Earth only 10,000 degrees?
That doesn't even seem that hot.
That's like 5 times hotter than a pottery kiln.
The earth is so big, the best it can do is 10k?
They say the core warms the earth, but that shit doesn't warm anything. It still freezes up here on the crust at night and in the winter.
>Making your mother feel bad
>Bluntly saying she doesn't seem that hot
>Gave birth to you and everything you see around you
>Lets you comprise part of her grand system despite you being one of many creatures tearing up her surface mindlessly
Okay /sci/, say I somehow had a very large vat of elemental oxygen, and a very large vat of elemental hydrogen that are the exact same size. Now, I attach both of these canisters to a completely empty vacuum chamber and I start releasing the elemental hydrogen and oxygen into the chamber. What happens then? What things form, if they form at all?
Oxygen is 16 times more in mass then Hydrogen with 8 protons and 8 nuetrons to 1 proton in Hydrogen. So the ratio of mass to be the same, you need 16 parts more hydrogen than oxygen to have the same amount by mass.
If provided an ignition source, a rapid oxidization would occur leaving you with with water and some left over H2.
We don't need theories when we have facts
Believing in the big bang is no different than believing in god, the theory even comes from the catholic church trying to rationalize god. It probably didn't happen and we don't really know what did.
I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around the idea of time being an illusion. Like, I think I get the basic concept of it, but I don't understand as much of it as i'd like.
Can anyone like, put it in simple terms for me? I have an exam coming up.
Probably the most simple thing i can think of is on an atomic level. Its just a bunch of shit floating around and combining. If molecules in suddenly did the exact opposite and bonded/unbonded "perpendicularly" I guess you could say, would time be reversed? Time does not really exist when you look at it abioticly.
A motorboat took 3 hours to make a downstream trip with a 4 mph current. The return trip against the same current took 5 hours. Find the speed of the boat in still water. Can you solve this? (Pic unrelated)
Does evolution serve any evolutionary purpose?
pic not related
yes, becase the purpose of evolutoin is survival and evolution would not be possile in a static organism. enviornments change, and so the organism needs ot be able to changed with the anviornemnt. thus evolition serves an eviloutionary purpose
Why do people only care about how much money is to be made when deciding a STEM major? No, seriously. I hear people all the time asking whether to pick one or another, with one being something they actually enjoy and the other paying more.
Shouldn't it be obvious? So long as you're not a complete financial dunce it shouldn't matter if another field pays more than the one you're good at and like. You're going to make enough money to take care of yourself and a hypothetical family regardless. Furthermore, you'll be too busy doing cool shit...

Yes, I'm waving my e-cock when I haven't even started school yet. I just decided this last week. I'm just annoyed when people are more interested in money than doing something useful and enjoyable to them.
they probably don't exactly have the right mindset to be thinking about money when they pick out their stem major. most likely immature kids that just want money and see nice cars and big houses
now after they get their degree, then they realize that there's bills and rent to pay, money to save up for a down payment, IRA and such.
I mean about Jeff Bezo's New Shephard reusable spacecraft? It made a great launch into space and then made quite the pretty landing back on earth making it the first reusable spacecraft. Sorry if I'm late to the party (or if this is more of a /g/ thing) but I say all hail the suspiciously dildo shaped missile and all the engineers and scientists that worked on ir. HOORAY!!!!
Yeah, there's been a thread, just not a good one.
I'm pretty excited about this. Soon they'll be flying regularly, then they'll have scientific payloads, then there will be manned tests, then maybe daily space tourism flights.
They're using the same basic design, for their orbital launch vehicle. I estimate that the booster for orbital launch will only be about 25% bigger, linearly, with twice the volume and four times the mass, so the aerodynamics will be almost the same. The LOX/CH4 engine is supposed to be about five times as powerful, and I expect there will be a larger proportion of upper stage and payload, compared to this thing's capsule.
They will likely use this booster engine on the upper stage of their orbital vehicle. It's LOX/H2, so it has good specific impulse. It's clearly also suitable for landing, if they do a reusable upper stage.

How does the arrangement of a structural isomer change the molecular composition of a compound?
Oh man is that boy sexy.
So, structural isomers are different molecules just like boys are different than girls but they still might look sexy even if they're boys.
Can I have more sexy boys now? Don't get banned.
Who here watched vihart and agrees with her views on math teaching?
>gender was a stupid concept to me until basket cases at university started yelling at me
Silly females and their personality cults.
