Post your school, everyone else r8
I'm in the cockrell school of engineering btw
double degree in applied and theoretical math atm.
probably gonna go here or to Ohio State for grad school.
How does it feel knowing that my MIT education means I will have grad schools and employers literally begging me to work with them while you're all clawing at the ground for scraps?
not that bad considering Im the son of a hedge fund founder. So if you really want to be a dick and start measuring urself to others, Ill be richer than you will ever be without working
All finns unite!
Math major graduating next month. I keep putting off grad school applications.
Richard Sundberg was my ochem lecturer
The same undergrad education you'd get anywhere else where you're just paying to take and exam, a few lab workshops (no trial and error and practice), and to teach yourself. Bravo. You are truly a god among men.
Great job wage slave. Hopefully you'll have enough, so you won't need to limit and censor yourself in fear of losing your job.
Columbia here. You give people at MIT a bad name; most of the people I know at MIT are generally good people, as are the various professors that our two schools share.
You sound like a cunt.
Imperial College London, mechanical engineering with nuclear engineering, just graduated
Not even an engineering student. I'm not autistic enough
>he studied at a sausage factory
>he studied in londonistan
I have no idea I'm afraid, I don't know many people from life sciences - I think the best thing to do if you want opinions would be to look through threads on the student room, you're bound to find someone who does something like that (if you can wade through the cancer and memesters). In general though the uni's a good place to be, well located, lots of societies, etc, the main downside is that the support you get can vary massively between departments
Thank you for your comments, friends. It feels good to be world top ten :^)
Already graduated with a computer engineering degree.
cheers friend, enjoy your world class education bro
was thinking of transferring to Embry-Riddle or GA Tech at some point.
i wouldn't be surprised. we have quite a few autismo's here. it is a pure engineering school after all.
i know theres some 14 year old white kid who's in his sophomore year. i see him walking around to his classes with his helicopter mom.
Physics grad student here
Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina here; majoring in Astronomy.
Public education for the win.
Music degree and physics degree with math concentration.
how do you all even get out of bed in the morning when your school's seal doesn't even have any mathematics on it?
Kinda jealous of everyone here going to bigger name schools
Anyone transfer to these schools from a community college. If so, state your current school, gpa you had when you transferred, and major. I want to transfer to Cornell, want to see how impossible it is.
>I want to transfer to Cornell, want to see how impossible it is.
its not impossible. transfer students don't compete against the standard freshman coming in from high school. you are taking the spot of w/e jack off dropped out, so you are put against other transfers. mostly CC guys that were just trying to save money on their first two years.
These threads are always so emasculating, it's my senior year of hs all over again
Just curious how someone qualified enough to get into MIT could possibly end up here shitposting
I am a GT fag btw IE
Computer science major. I'm thinking about doing a double major with Cyber Engineering, and getting a minor in math.
I'd be surprised if anyone else from my school posts on /sci/.
My nigga. About to apply to Pharmacy doctorate/PharmD program there.
Despite mega high test scores I'm honestly not that confident, my gpa/extracurriculars are weak. I could play for their rugby or football or PL teams though, so there's that. Not scholarship level talent though.
>money is stored offshore and tax free
>if someone gets sick, will just go to US and pay for private healthcare
>still enjoy beautiful surroundings+laidback attitude
>don't get shot 25 times per day
top lel m8
I could not help but notice your png was not optimized anon.
I have optimized your png.
Your png is now optimized.
MIT is needblind. If you can demonstrate financial need, they'll help you with as much of it as possible.
People going to MIT are also basically defacto overachieving smart people who get tons of grants and scholarships... I doubt most people pay to go to MIT. Those that do could most likely easily afford it.
Even so, nobody's really in a rush to suck a UIUC grad's dick, at least compared to how much people would rush to suck an MIT grad's dick.
There's a big power gap in the rankings between top 4 and everything else. There's Berkeley, Stanford, MIT, CMU for CS, and "everything else". Sadly UIUC is "everything else".
Nobody really knows about U of I outside of Illinois. Even the typical CS major here is typically involved in the rat race for jobs and internships. While in the top 4 people typically get spammed by offers by simply doing nothing,
My department is in the top 150 of our subject. We didn't have cleaning staff for 8 months. We had literal shit in the main hallways. HUMAN SHIT.
We made a snowman in one of the hallways last december. It stayed there for 3 days, without really melting because we had no heating. We close down for about 3 weeks every year because of occupations.
We have almost no admin staff. Administration is open for 6 hours a week. We have NO money.
And yet, we're still better than all of you faggots. HOW DO YOU EVEN FUCKING MANAGE TO BE THIS BAD?
commence the shitting on me
naturally capable of advanced math, grandfather was a chemical engineer, still dream about going to top 5 school school everyday
Geology with planetary science up in this
Studying Civil Engineering here.
Don't really enjoy it though.
>inb4 social science isn't science
get a grip of yourself
I feel like I am severely underqualified for any graduate programs and am probably not going to get into any. I'm already taking a gap year but who knows.
Currently a Sophomore studying Math/Comp Sci
Sometimes I feel like I'm trying to rush through me major to quickly. I think I'll take a year long break in the summer.
University of Toronto mechanical engineering
Just curious, what do americans think of canadian universities?
I go to uga also, want to grab a beer and talk about le nerd stuff :^)
Applied mathematics and Physics department (you choose one or the other)
4th Best UC
Double Majoring in Game Development and Physics
Not that anon, but I too went there.
No social life.
Less liberals, still SJW college politic though.
I'da rather gone to a more popular school.
Wouldn't recommend unless you're geo, mining, or petro, since they pretty much feed directly into those industries.
BMS, graduated last year
Don't know what to do with my life. Thinking Msc in immunology or postgrad medicine.
Anyone done either of those courses?
Awww yeaaah. Honestly I'm a noob here. There are a lot of events listed in the calendar your myLsu that are specialized scientific seminars, many of which are free to the public and are probably really neat. Though I haven't gone to any of them or any other events....
There's the Howe Russel building which is a really neat geology building. It's got a really nice, quiet atrium you can study in.
Also, there's this guy that I've seen quite a bit and he will tell you he got out of prison 4 days ago and needs $12 for a homeless shelter. 3 times he forgot he already talked to me and gave me the same story.
>Implying I was talking about Mathematics
>Implying I care about the Mathematics department
I was refering to this list, mate.
I eat every other meal at D2 to save money and haven't had a solid poo since I left home desu lad
>tfw in Harper with a bunch of upperclassmen and Chinese students who only want to be friends with other Chinese
>tfw no friends
I'd deal with floor bathrooms if it meant I could meet some fucking people
its great if you are into engineering.
and while its true there are more men than women here, at least half the guys here are undateable hobgoblins who can't take of themselves. if you are average looking or above, the real ratio works in your favor.
i don't know how the scene on campus is tho, i take the light rail to school. i live in downtown denver next to a hipster bar and a dispensary.
but anyways, good school. lots of neat engineering type stuff going on. alot of socially awkward people go there and make it out to be a place where they can't make friends, but really thats just them being spergs.
Yes, I finished with an MS in physics and became basically a programmer. If I had went for compsci though I'd be making 1.5x my salary though, I started at 80k while my dev friend started at 120k and we came from the same university.
Nope, it's actually a death ray. The guy who designed it thought it would be a great idea to arrange the glass panes in a concave shape. It turned out that on a bright day, it focused sunlight on a patch of pavement below, at a high enough intensity to melt the tarmac. They were forced to put some anti-glare coating on the upper windows in case it ended up frying someone.
Hey, you should check out the tank treaded vehicle on the 2nd floor of ETC if they still have it. I helped build the thing.
Also, it probably shouldn't have the gasoline we left in it.
Senior here. ~ 50 biochemistry majors in my class.
This is a premed school.
But secretly we have an incredible math program and chemistry department.
I did Computer Science.
Not a bad program either, some good profs, and it was real Comp Sci, like advanced math and algorithm theory beyond just software engineering.
It's really a good stem school, just has no culture or women.
Half of their school identity is "hurr we're so smart, not like those dumb CU Boulder stoners".
Also free two half pints of any Coors brew you want before 5pm within walking distance of the school everyday.
I got to college in NYC but it's neither Columbia or NYU.
no-name school reporting in
currently a neuroscience major in the honors program
will be incredibly surprised if anybody outside of texas has heard of this school
I've heard a lot of claims that it's a surprisingly good school, but yeah you're right that it's pretty no-name and I barely know anything about it in and I'm in Texas.
At least it has UT in the name though, my school is even more no-name.
I'm in same school as this faggot for undergrad. I'm praying for acceptance into a good graduate school.
Naturally capable of advanced math? You know that's literally a member, right? You cannot simply be born with 'advanced math capabilities'. Read some journal articles you dunce; Judging by your idiocy you'll never be as clever as granddaddy.
do you go to a California community college? this is a big plus - order of priority for transfers is California CC > other UCs > out of state CC > out of state unis
obviously get as close to 4.0 as possible
you should finish as many requirements for lower div as possible - use assist.org and search Berkeley degree worksheets in google
i don't know how community college works but if the application is the same as the freshman one, i highly recommend writing about specific experiences in your essays over general life things - write about some highly technical thing you have accomplished, not just your general contribution on a club or something
AMA i guess
Also some of the smartest kids I've met at cal were transfers, not even kidding - dont feel worse about yourself for it
Bachelors and Masters from University of Phoenix in IT. I'm not ashamed, the degrees got me the job I wanted (and it's not even IT related)
yes i know its a no name school
yes i know i made a big mistake
all you uppity snooty cocksuckers at aTm/UT/Tech just leave me alone
would kill to start over and study engineering here
this guy saved me in circuit analysis
north korea best science we come out with phone soon best phone
Me too, I'm in Kingsborough but transferring to pic related next semester.
Not looking forward to the train ride but maybe this will push me to learn to drive.
NOW WORKING ON EERC IN ATX AS ENVELOPE CONSULTANT
GOOD LUCK M8
better research and a better professor to work under.
>but muh reputation
doesnt matter as much when youre doing important work
also my dept outputs more publications per faculty than MIT's dept
>going to MIT or equivalent to higher schools for undergraduate school work.
What a retard. Could have saved your money and went to a cheaper university then went to MIT for graduate work.
Been here for four years, so it's like a university.
ayyyy tron here
Any other Cal Poly bros?
Electrical Engineering 2015
Your school's pretty good, though. Essentially guaranteed a job right after graduating. I'm jealous. Studying CS at this joke of a university.
Physics in the College of Creative Studies at UCSB. I'm a year behind because I transferred into the program but like three of the people in my class of <20 went to Stanford for their PhDs. It's a good program tbqh senpai
Yeah I'm a student at El Camino in Torrance if you know where that is.
I don't know anything technical I'm particularly good at for my major (math/physics). The only time I apply math is when I train myself to program and other than that I see no opportunity to employ physics.
Any tips on making my app more competitive?
