Is this the best possible XI of the modern era (1992-present)?
The all time top scorer (and by some distance) of the greatest league in the world. And he did it in shitty teams, he wasn't surrounded by GOATs like Messi etc. had
Has been the best defender in the world since 2005. A whole decade of eliteness beats out the likes of Nesta and Puyol who were only at the top for about 5 years.
The most complete left back of the last 20 years, easily. He could attack and defend and was always reliable. The only player who rivals him for that position is Maldini, but he's already at CB.
I disagree with a fair few of the players in there, but Shearer should be there.
Best striker of all time, not great technically, but he scored for fun.
>The greatest league in the world
Although you're right about being surrounded by notably not world class players like Henry, Ronaldo, Messi, etc.
I love Shearer but ''greatest league in the world'' means nothing, and it was greatest in late 70's/80's, not 90's or 00's
And Newcastle wasn't a shitty team, by any measure. But okay, I can concede on this.
Cannavaro? Nesta? Both world champions and won shitload of titles with their teams. Both considered among greatest defenders. Pure bias.
Don't make me laugh. You could've put Maldini there. Lahm played on the left too. Roberto Carlos was also a great wingback and practically revolutionized the position.
I notice no one on this board is as biased as English, why is that? It just look ridiculous.
Also, Italian League was far more defensive and tactics minded and harder to score than English. English league, especially then, was shooting long balls and putting players in hospital.
Stay mad faggot
you know i had someone try and tell me Scholes was a better player than Totti
what the fuck
since that ginger cunt retired people have been eulogizing over him like he was fucking platini or something
a technically accomplished systembabby for the most dominant team in english football who scored less than half the goals totti did, got less than half the assists and was one of the dirtiest players in the game
plus he's an ugly cunt, and totti is beautiful
>tfw an Englishman tried to talk about football near me
Subtle troll. I like it
stay dumb if you think otherwise.
if you dont include CR7 youre a fucking retard. do people even understand how incredible his record is? only Messi's is arguably better.
This is the GOAT team.
I'm sorry but is Kevin Philips one of the best players of all time? He also won a ballon d'or. Is Mario Jardel one of the best strikers of all time?
Ronaldo is a great goalscorer not a great player.
this is the exact same argument as always aka no actual argument.
just because Messi is slightly better doesnt discredit everything CR7 has done. in any other era he would be the GOAT.
>more than numbers and finishing
yeah just nostalgia and youtube highlights.
>Le Pirlo meme
Literally the worst post in this thread. Penaldo's record is hardly incredible when literally £500m has been spent on a squad build a squad catered specifically for you, players HAVE to pass to you if you have a tap in, only you're allowed to take freekicks regardless how shit you are at them and only you're allowed to take penalties. That must be really difficult to achieve anything when the club is keeping you down like that. Please tell me more bandwagoner, you're "knowledge" is hilarious. Every. Single. Time.
you don't need sensible tactics with players that good m9
Not slightly better. Messi is a far better player.
just because you started watching in 2010 mate, doesn't mean you can just dismiss the point.
If Messi didn't exist, Ronaldo still wouldn't be on the level of Pele or Maradona or Cruyff or whoever.
>This list is incomplete; you can help by expanding it.
>The list includes all who played in the final, and all substitutes since 1990. Data is incomplete for squad players, and for unused substitutes before 1990.
I was making my own completely sincere suggestion but the web code couldn't handle it anymore as soon as I entered "Fletcher".
Heres mine. I am in my mid thirties now so forgive me, this is the best team of players i can remember from past and present hopefully i didnt forget anybody worthy because there are so many.
at worst he was as good as them, and fucking Inzaghi had the technique of a tree, he was just insanely good at poaching goals, and I say this as a Milan fan
> 260 goals in the league
He wouldn't have flopped at any club. That's silly. If he'd gone to United instead of Newcastle and been part of that '99 squad he'd be recognized as a GOAT. Shame he didn't as Ferguson really wanted him.
Lineker done well at Barca. Owen done pretty well at Real. English players can play abroad they just mostly choose not to. Look at all the crap Bale has gone through already since going to Real. The fans are cunts.
But yeah, Cole/Yorke/Shearer/Sheringham at United would have been GOAT.
> Beckham swinging in all those pin point balls for Shearer to head in
I don't get why all the non-Chelsea supporters put Lampard at the bottom when ranking him, Gerrard and Scholes. He has the most goals out of any PL midfielder, and he's 2nd overall in assists (behind only Giggs who played significantly longer) and he is significantly ahead of both Scholes and Gerrard in both metrics
>English players in a world XI
Replace shearer with fatnaldo, scholes with iniesta, terry with anyone else, cole with anyone else
sorry, buy english players are overrated. If it wasnt for being born in a league with real players they'd be irrelevant.
pls no h8 m8
I'm expecting this flag/opinion discarded, but would like to see other opinions on this.
>Replace shearer with fatnaldo
look at who's beside him moron
>scholes with iniesta
Iniesta is a Xavi babby who had 2 good years.
>terry with anyone else
>cole with anyone else
Ah, i see you're just a clueless ABE. Gtfo with your shitty knowledge and opinions.
>says Rooney is overrated
Don't get me wrong. Different leagues, but you gotta be fucken kidding me man. Rooney is vilified by half of his own country despite being their best player...
Not having Maldini as LB should be punishable by death. Maldini and Messi are the only players that are undeniably best at their positions. The rest are debatable, that's how Goat they are.
Why in the name of fuck would you play a 442 diamond
If you are doing best ever you need to play a standard 442 with wingers.
I hate when UEFA always has the Best XI as a 4-3-3, its utter bullshit.
Technical ability? A lot of forwards were better than him.
Goal scoring ability? There aren't many that come close. And bear in mind that Shearer played with the likes of Shola Ameobi at Newcastle and was injured for 2 years of his career.
It was very late when I was making mine. I also thought who the hell am i gonna stick on the other wing. I'd rather stick Jorgensen or Rommedahl in place of Lovenkrands, and there should be better options still. I just can't think right now, either.
While not the best Nordic DM, I love you for putting him in there.
Shearer, Cashley, and Terry.
How can one be as delusional as a Brit.
>Shearer was as good or better than all of those
>Are you serious? I can name like 10 better forwards than him.
I bet I can name at least 30.
1 - Ronaldo
2 - Romário
3 - Edmundo
4 - Batistuta
5 - Crespo
6 - Salas
7 - Shevchenko
8 - v. Nistelrooy
9 - Penaldo
10 - Raúl
11 - Villa
12 - Henry
13 - Ibrahimovic
14 - van Basten
15 - Villa
16 - Suker
17 - Eto'o
18 - Suarez
19 - Inzaghi
20 - Tévez
21 - Weah
22 - Klinsmann
23 - fucking Owen
24 - Stoichkov
25 - Zamorano
26 - fucking Lineker
27 - Drogba
28 - Baggio
29 - Vieri
30 - Papin
All 30 better than Shearer, hands down. And that's not even counting midfielders/forwards/wingers who only played CF once in a while, improvised or otherwise, like Rivaldo, Bergkamp, M. Laudrup, old Totti, etc
I swear, you britfags overrate english players and the shitty-ass EPL like like no one else. Scholes and fucking Terry? Really?
not really sure I want to take your opinion on football matters seriously lad
>No C. Ronaldo
>The guy that actually scores headers
>The guy that has the most "1st" goals on the Spanish league this season
>The guy that will score +50 goals for 4 (or 5) consecutive seasons
C'mon m8, you can hate him but you can deny he's GOAT material
>Scoring goals now is bad
id consider nedved left wing and ronaldinho ahead of totti
maybe cannavaro at centre half
>1 - Ronaldo
>2 - Romário
>9 - Penaldo
>12 - Henry
The only ones you can argue are better. MVB would also be here but his career was over by '93.
>4 - Batistuta
>7 - Shevchenko
On the same level
>24 - Stoichkov
>28 - Baggio
Hristo was a winger, Baggio was a no.10. Shouldn't be in the list.
This one deserves greentexting just because of how laughable a suggestion it is. You might as well have put Mido and Milan Baros too.
>Zidane as mid defender
>Messi as fake 9 with three enganches
>Totti Ronaldo and dinho in the same line
Holy shit, you need some balance in your team, not 5 number tens and a couple defenders
As for today's football
---Zé Roberto----Baraja---Gilberto Silva---Turan
Oh yeah, Rommedahl would be a good option, but I really like the way Lovenkrands play, also if I had to put Jorgensen on this team, it would be as a sub for Litmanen.
Also who would you put as a DM then?
I don't think so, but I cringed when I saw Linderoth in 2002 WC as a DM while Mild was on the bench.
Lahm Matthaus Adams Cafu
Bergkamp Henry Messi
so damn hard though, there so much more that deserves to be in it
and so much more..
