Aus Vs NZ 1st Test in about 11 bings
England vs Pakistan
ENG 306-10, 24-0
PAK 234-10, 355-10
England need 260 runs
Is the Black Bull (Gayle) playing in the AUS-WI tests this summer?
>This pitch will be so strong for spinners
>Spinners so dominant
>Need 3 spinners
>Seamers by far dominant
>This'll be a grind to bat on
>200-250 lead will be hard to topple
>They need every run they get
>comfy 355 all out
Were they right about anything?
We got this.
>mfw Bellend already got his cheeky 40 to stay in the squad
>top order batsman getting clean bowled on 0 by a part timer
desu we have plenty of other people who could replace him, just England selectors are so fucking dog shit and never give chances to some people while giving crappers 30 chances before dropping them.
and all the analysts shill him like, "hurr he's got experience you can't discount, it's bad to drop people with experience"
Wish they were more ruthless like Aussie selectors tb h, at least people on the fringes for like 10 years (like Hildreth) would've gotten a chance to develop internationally.
Can anyone tell me what the fuck is wrong with the English selectors?
>Mo-meme opening the batting
>Bellend even being close to the team
>3 of the worst spinners in world cricket
>Not selected Plunkett instead.
Moeen's batting is constantly shilled by the admin and analysts even though he's never really done anything to warrant it other than looking rather "graceful" sometimes. Hales did terribly in the ODIs so that's why they probably tried Ali instead.
Bellend has "experience" so they just won't drop him.
It's a "spinning" wicket so they meme it up, rather than really looking at their actual bowling lineup and realising that good seamers on a spinning wickets are still better than 3 shit spinners
Plunkett has a fairly meh record, almost 40 average but he probs would be better than these inconsistent spinners. Problem is spinners need to be consistent to build up pressure. With Patel and Ratshit you always know at least 1-2 bad balls are coming every over, they just wait for it. Not international quality but I can almost guarantee they'll bring Rashid to SA despite performing terribly in literally the perfect conditions for him here.
Problem is that England selectors don't rotate their lineup enough. They give people way too many chances at the expense of hopefuls. This means we CONSTANTLY lack viable alternatives with experience. England selectors hate debuting people during bigger series such as SA and Australia, so they just keep their "experienced" but terrible players, which just reinforces itself because they still don't have much experience spread around.
this was the last thread before the australian summer
rev up those /cric/ folders its time to shitpost
>there's actually people in the stadium
I have no idea why the ICC is sinking so much money into America when they're LITERALLY NEVER going to get into cricket. They find baseball boring, cricket's as good as dead there.
The money would be better spent in Ireland, the West Indies, Nepal, Afghanistan, the Netherlands or wherever, so long as it isn't America
What revenue are they expecting out of America though?
There's no chance of long term profit, and the attendance is going to be UAE tier
Sure , America has the potential for boatloads of money, but the chances of tapping into that is next to nil
>"No one one wants to get out, and the bowlers also don't want to get spanked. So it will be a good contest," he added.
>Cricinfo's second biggest market is the US
Huh, that's a surprise with how the curries seem to be the only ones making tweets and posting comments. I'm guessing that's mostly expats?
That's a good point actually, expats are generally responsible for developing the sports in the Asian countries
I don't know what other sports they'd turn to though, they're hardly built for NRL or basketball, and baseball is declining in popularity
>he thinks people aren't just taking the piss
>less than 2 hours to the Aus-NZ test
post yfw NZ starts winning and Smith gets exposed as the lil ragebaby captain he is
not gonna happen la australia are the ultimate home babies
>free members pass for Oaks day
>stronger urge to sit inside all day watching the cricket with the peaceful rain falling outside
Watching cricket with the summer rain going is GOAT TV viewing
That's one tasty pitch...
Hell. Should have taken a pic of the pitch I played on on Saturday.
The thing was practically a mud-puddle (or at least it felt like it) at one end and had barely been prepped. Green as. No bounce.
No love for social grades.
>England seamers in UAE: 31 Wickets, Average 24.58, Economy 2.29
>England spinners in UAE: 20 Wickets, Average 59.85, Economy 4.06.
>Gotta play our spinners
>It'll be turning miles
>The spinners will dominate
>Nothing there for a seam bowler in the subcontinent
Siddle missed out. Aussies playing Starc and Johnson
You're right, this is going to be a long summer
Ever since datalogy has taken off the effort they need to put in to find stats like that is nothing. Honestly only thought it was limited to burger sports but it's everywhere now
>HD cricket on nine
EVERY autistic fidget in crystal clear 1080p
are the blackcaps gonna do the haka?
Bowling first at the Gabba is borderline masochism
Anyone have that article where Alistair Cook asked someone from the QLD team how to approach the Gabba and what to do if you win the toss. The bloke told him him to bowl first then later admitted he always bats first if he can
>tfw gotta go to work in 5 minutes
Have a good day lads
I remember when they made me play that in primary school but I didn't know it so I essentially "lip synched" it and of course everyone knew because I put my trumpet down when I thought it was over and then hastily started pretending again when it started up. Was pretty funny.
Least the guy doing the Kiwi anthem could sing.
I just don't know brah, have another one before I leave.
Watson will be back in the side by the 5th test this Summer
>having to do any sort of anthem in school
I don't think we ever once even recited god save the queen
>India vs South Africa (in India) starts later
>Two series between four different sides who rarely play eachother that I'm genuinely excited for
>all 6 of the best Test sides in the world will be playing at the same time
can't remember the last time there was Test cricket on as good as this
I haven't browsed /cric/ at all in 2015 and missed both the world cup and Ashes.
This place is boring as fuck without Obesitygoose and his legion of haters. That's what made /cric/ interesting to begin with. Now it's just another stock-standard reddit-tier general full of uninteresting people and uninteresting posts.
Bring back Obesitygoose and /cric/ will return to its former glory.
>Australian batsmen have learnt to leave an outswinging ball
Who should be Englands main spinner?
It's bit of a meme if Moeen is honestly the best they have to offer.
Patel might offer something in SA but de Villiers and Faf would go Bryce McGain on Rashid if they brought him along.
our HDI seems to be "very high" as pretty much yours, australia's and new zealand's.
India and Pakistan on the other hand are so shit that they can't even be bothered to measure it.
Anderson can hold a good line and length, the corridor of uncertainty. Yes he's nowhere near as effective in swinging conditions but you can't really discount that consistency.
English spinners will a feast for the SA batsmen.
Finn is unfortunately past his prime, I don't know how well he'll work. He's lost a lot of pace nowadays, and his only good performances have come in heavy swinging conditions. Wood's pace might be more effective this time around.
Warner is fucking shit at ODI's m8
why the fuck would the windies be better than playing us?
could be a good time to capitalize on crickets resurgence of popularity here. People are going to stop giving a fuck if we can only play zimbabwe and sri lanka.
I'm sure there's thousands of kiwis in melbourne that would attend the game
I have to agree with him though. I'm sick of everyone saying YO MAN DAS SALTY AF to literally fucking every instance of slight anger on the internet. Gives me the fucking shits that people have no variety in their language.
stokes will forever have a 1% in the other category
feels good man
New Zealand's going to get fined for their over rate.
how fucking fresh are you cunt?
The BSA pandering series with Warney and Sachin starts on Saturday
Oh boy I sure am excited to see the summer of cricket get under way today with very tough series against our neighbours New Zealand beginning on Channel 9™ at 10:00am AEDT. All of our favourites including Slats, Tubby, Brayshaw and Brett Lee will be featuring in the commentary box once again, to bring the joy of cricket to every Aussie house this summer!
I sure hope you've all got your KFC™ ready for lunch! I for one will be enjoying a delicious Large Zinger Box™. Can't beat that taste!
I am genuinely angry that I was fooled by the 3 NZ autists in /cric/ into thinking that this would be a tough series because of Southee and Boult being "elite" bowlers. I can't believe I fell for that shit.
>it's a talk about the size of warners bat episode
I've noticed many Australians (mostly normies) love to shit on the commentary team but never offer up any better suggestions as to who should call.
Litmus test is their opinion on Mark Nicholas. Apart from the Siddle hat-trick he hasn't done much wrong and is a really good author on the game. Only casuals hate him
Reminder Nicholas is the same man who said meeting Mugabe was the greatest day of his life.
He also just wrote a piece saying cricketers should learn from fucking Rugby players on etiquette, the guy is woeful for 9.
>I've noticed many Australians (mostly normies) love to shit on the commentary team but never offer up any better suggestions as to who should call.
Yeah, this was pointed out a few times last summer too.
Mark Nicholas and Mark Taylor are unironically good commentators.
Morphitt, Ponting and Waugh are all terrible commentators.
Hussey is great, he is simply a massive cricket nerd. Ponting is also good, though lacks any personality. Warne is colourful, but surprisingly good. Tubbs of course. The grandstand regulars are also quite good
He's the least terrible of the 3 I mentioned, but he is terrible nonetheless. His voice is extremely obnoxious.
I assure you, YOU are the casuals here, not me.
I didn't even think it was that bad, if you were screaming in the lounge room with your mates you wouldn't have heard it. And he was sincere (and correct) in saying England will challenge it.
>in 500 POSTS there has LITERALLY been only ONE BSA
how can we improve next thread lads
Decent relative to Slats and Healy.
Bumble and Nicholas are top tier. Harris, Huss and even Lee still need a couple more years to work in to it.
Warnes the best captain we never had so his brain is packed with knowledge. Goes on tangents too much though.
