The old thread has grown too confusing with all of the updated magnet links and all of the "Which magnet link should I get?" questions that go with all of that. Allow me to present to you a better way!
BTSync. Get your copy at bittorrent.com/sync and plug in this read-only secret:
Anytime I, or somebody else with the write-secret adds a file, it will automatically sync out to those of you who keep the sync running! No muss, no fuss, no searching for updated magnet url's.
I make no promises to keep it updated, but the gents who were updating the torrents are welcome to contact me for the write-enabled secrets. You know who you are.
I can be reached on Tox at CA7B354349B69D126958E68C3F528EDD07D04C3E9FAEF963D7E6305A91622919818E8E91683C
As always, remember to seed. Not only to help your fellow toon-fiends get their fix, but to make sure you stay updated with the latest content as well!
Just look at the mess the last thread is, constantly updating a 1 gig torrent and creating hashes for a single file addition. People leave the thread and it's not updated, they seed an old release.
Is it another piece of software? Yeah, but it's really nescessary to keeo down on churn and loss of old seeders. It's still a torrent, just a bit different. I remember all the fags who bitched about magnets back in the day.
"hur can't use 'em cause I can't google"
Now everyone here uses magnets. If you're charing a fixed target, like a past season of a show, then yes torrents are appropriate. However since shit keeps getting added, the management of whos magnet does what is a nightmare, and it's a waste of traffic and time.
this way everyone can sit back and let it run and they get updated automatically, or turn it on once a week and pull 15 megs at a time.
Click the options for that sync, go to advanced and tick "Search the DHT network" and untick "Search local network for peers".
Restart btsync. Log back in. In fact everyone should be doing that
Thats if you want to use btsync as cloud storage without anyone having to seed stuff, not to transfer files.
Please read the actual site carefully, and listen to the rest of us when we tell you it's FREE and you don't need to pay ANYTHING.
You're not even on the right site anyway, you download the software here:
You're on the wrong site. You googled "btsync" and ran with it instead of bittorrent sync. OP should have put a link to the correct site.
Oh wow... I feel like a moron now. But yeah, I just couldn't understand how could that be right. Though in my defense everyone in this thread was calling it after BTSync and I took it literally rather than looking up the actual name of the damned thing which is "BitTorrentSync".
Thanks for explaining and clearing it out for me.
Now someone give me a dunce hat...
>Fapping to Flash Animations
We have full on Videos now
Bittorrent Sync uses the same protocol as bittorrent. It is similar to services like Dropbox, but decentralized and encrypted. The purpose of a sync folder is so you don't have to chase down any updates/new magnet links. If you don't like it/want to try it out, by all means chase down the newest magnet in the other thread.
>using closed source proprietary shit by the "BitTorrent" company
>not using the open free alternative "syncthing"
Or just put up a fucking mega link or distribute normally through torrents. Holy shit
let 'em endless fapping beginz0rz
Ok, then start being my nice old /t/ 4channers and gibe me de pussy in OPEN SAUCE fuckers
Thanks for noticing, dude. I was new with this BitTorrent Sync thing and used uTorrent all the way and Dropbox.
Guys, if there's an alternative and we are all day long preaching for internet freedom and blah-blah shouldn't we use Pulse instead for this folder?
If you can hold my hand throuhg getting Golang1.4 working on ubuntu without using sketchy PPAs (implying theres any PPA thats not sketchy), then I can compile it from git repos and use it and will switch to it.
Until then, BTsync is programmed in a real language and runs quickly with no fiddle fucking around with dependencies. Jesus couldn't the autists who make syncthing have written it in Perl or Python?
In the Go download page, I see 2 different archives .tar.gz : one is go1.4.src.tar.gz and in the page says "source" and the other one is go1.4.linux-386.tar.gz (or go1.4.linux-amd64.tar.gz) and is tagged as "linux".
I thought Linux distributions used the source code directly to compile the program and install it. Why, then, are there two different archives in the Go page? Are you having troubles with both of them? Isn't that the same package as the one posted in the git repos?
I thought PPA were optional in Ubuntu, but I have no real idea about the matter at all, so I can't help you with that.
Excuse my lack of computer knowledge, anon. But if it is just holding your hand what you want, I will do it as much as you tell me.
... could that be because of me? I stuck a bunch of stuff in the root that I already had, thinking to copy/paste after syncing... there's no way that caused everybody else with the code to get all those files, right? This isn't just a wide-open shared folder, is it?
Python and Go are very different languages. However, the main problem is one of maturity, Go is a very recent development, whereas Python is a standard language that has out-of-the-box support in every operating system out there (except for Windows). Go just isn't there yet, and compiling Go programs still takes some effort to set up.
And personally, while I think it has some good ideas, overall I don't think it brings anything to the table that wasn't there before, like every language it has strengths and weaknesses.
don't expect much speed im seeding over 9000 torrents atm
Whenever Zone does something anime related (except the Konata one) I'm friggin disappointed.
I rather wanna see obscure toon porn like the Modifuckers one. Because I'm sick of generic anime, especially this one.
This anime for example already is slutty. Making porn of it is so unappealing.
had about 100000k resources at its highest during dl and used at least an average of 50000.
plus the settings can only be accessed in browser so if I had it closed then it proceeds to open it up again.
that's a resource hog
