Lord-General,

I am sending you this datapad message because the situation on the frontlines has been deteriorating.
We have been on the battlefield for two years without rotation, supplies are so sparse that we're having to eat rats and our own dead for sustenance, most of us are covered in mud and we're having to recruit from the survivors of the wrecks from the naval engagement overhead.

A shell came down on our latrines not long ago, sir, and since the Tech-priests haven't been around to bless our entrenching tools yet, we can't dig new...

All due respect, Sir,

Just now the Commissar executed an entire squad of men to motivate another squad into breaching enemy fortifications. They would have held the position but simply didn't have the numbers.

None of the men can 'oil their guns' so to speak, sir, for fear of accidentally breaking open the veil of reality and ushering through demonic horrors from beyond.
Its making everyone cranky.

I feel, sir, that there is a significant lack of oversight on the part of Sector...

What happens to pcs when the player can't make it to the session in your table?

In our table the pcs started by falling unconscious and with our goliath carrying them around. Eventually we started stuffing unconscious pcs in barrels for easier storage and transportation. At some point returning players started popping up from any available barrel, and now all barrels in the setting are considered quantum barrels that might or might not contain adventurers. The gm now has returning players roll for whether or not their pc is in any barrel the group might come across.

I've seen some GMs come up with a reasonable reason why the PC isn't present. For example, one session when several players couldn't make it, those of us who did make the session spent it trying to find out what had happened to them. They had been kidnapped.

I've seen GMs who just don't talk about the missing PC. Basically, the PC is there and doing things from an in-character perspective, but from an OOC one they aren't doing anything.

In both cases, the player who didn't turn up doesn't get any XP from the session. Loot...

Okay, at this point I've DMed a little 5e, and played a fair bit, and I must say it is lighthearted approachable fun.

There are a few things that bug me, though.
Namely, there seems to be little metagame incentive to play a wizard.
Sorcs basically become more powerful wizards, with a fun gimmick like the sorc. points, and also have thundering CHA-scores, which usually ends up being far more useful than a high intelligence.
Granted, great "arcana" gets used pretty frequently, but I infrequently find myself calling, or being asked to roll...

One rule which I've never tried but could be interesting is to seperate stats and skills, so when you make a skill check you use whichever stat and skill make the most sense, this means that so long as a wizard can fluff a way in which their intelligence helps them do a thing they get their int bonus, it may help with playing the wise sage who has good advice for every situation if your int actually was useful in a wide range of situations.

I've considered making a high INT character more by having a homebrew rule that, for instance, any skill-check which would normally add WIS or CHA, can add half a characters INT-modifier, rounded down, instead, if it is better.

Hey guys. I'm considering doing a homebrew thing set in 40K, either with imperial guardsmen or the inquisition.

It involves a heretical sect of psykers that want to build humanity up through unregistered and unorthodox psyker abilities. The antagonists developed a set of powers, both small scale and large, that enhance their bodies the way other psyke powers are more like X-Men abilities.

For example, one set of powers would surround them in a field that drastically absorbs momentum from projectiles. One set would raise their toughness to where they'd...

Bear in mind that every time a psyker invokes their powers, there's a chance that they'll get sucked into the warp or accidentally open a gate into the warp. Say a team of 20, all activating their powers to go fight Not-Magneto. And that's assuming it only takes one salvo to take him down. How many times does Not-Cyclops use his beam? Because every time he does, there's a chance of ducking everything up.

Then multiply that by how many members of the team there are, add in the fact that they're probably unsanctioned, and you've got a pretty...

Oh no no. I apologize. I either didn't make my intentions clear enough or you read into the superheroes comment too much.. in which case, I'll rephrase to try and be better understood.

I realize that using conventional psyker powers bring the possibility of warping the landscape, damaging things, even if they're exceedingly careless or unlucky, blowing a hole in creation and getting pulled through by demons into the warp. Totally get that.

However, I recall at least in 1st ED (not...

The power you're looking for is called Hammerhand, which quadruples the strength bonus and gives Natural Weapon while keeping your hands from holding anything. Average human's attack would be 1d10+12.

As for direct 1/2WP to S... in theory, yes. But it wouldn't be anything truly terrifying unless they had a weapon. Even then, the average psyker has S30 WP40, so you'd be increasing a sword's attack from 1d10+3 to 1d10+5. It would be scarier if you made it a direct WP to S, and the...

Moreover why the fuck did you guys let him give away the party's shit? That's the point where I'd be all "oh fuck no, I'm a cleric and even closer to the Gods than you and even I'm not down with that." One paladin can't take on the entire party. That's a pretty brutal abuse of OOC circumstances that have you all adventuring together to begin with.

101 KB,
Well good folks, some of you may remember earlier this week when I asked for some assistance in creating a table of things that players can wake up to after getting blackout drunk after a night out on the town. After taking on some of the suggestions made in that thread and putting in some more of my own, I would like to present you with my current "Blackout Drunk at a Party" Table (broken up into several posts because of the fucking word limit)!

1. Character has lost (X amount of gold)
2. Character has lost (X amount of gold), and now has someone/something after them, trying to "collect on the debt"
3. Character gained (X amount of Gold)
4. Character gained (X amount of gold), but now has someone/something chasing after them, claiming that they were "cheated".
5. Character gained 1 magic item, and not quite sure how they got it.
6 Character gained 1 magic item, not sure what it does, but they know it's definitely magic.
7. +1 Party member

31. Character wakes up inside the cooling remains of a cow (as if it was a cool night and they decided that the best way to stay warm would be to crawl inside a recently killed animal). 33% chance that the farmer will find them, demanding repayment for the lost animal.

26 KB,
Been playing around with some arachnomancer and drider character builds for DnD and I realised that I've seen a thread for almost every other race here except our little bros. It's time we show our 8 legged friends some love!

Share your spider related stories /tg/. Characters, campaigns, whatever. Praise Lolth and make the underdark great again.

>Behind a sheet of glass are stacked various colorful carbonated potions and bags of dried snack foods.
>A small slot on the side seems to be the perfect size for inserting coins.

D&D is very well-suited to that kind of humorous gonzo fantasy. It has magic robots, green brain-eating aliens, spaceships, numerous pun-monsters and spells, and people who get magic lasers from cthulhu. There's a pathfinder module where players go to WW1 russia and fight soldiers in trenches. Almost every edition has included rules for firearms and laser guns. An old story about a D&D game involved a GM putting a mcdonald's in a dungeon, in response to players wondering what all the monsters eat.

Dungeon Master (the vidya) had them. That alone makes it classy enough to get a pass.

Clergy probably have it pretty good. Unless if they're in a place like the underhive or a deathworld but it's still a good step up from commoners.

No. Even in the grim darkness of the far future where there is only war, there are paradise worlds where people live in peace, harmony, and contentment, where the local Adepta are not too corrupt, and where people generally lead happy lives where only a cadre of volunteers enter the Guard. These planets' narrative purpose is to provide ironic contrast when they inevitably get invaded and the reclamation utterly ruins the planet, but they exist.

Are there any tabletops where the outcomes are determined entirely by coin flips?

H.G. Wells used coin in his early games of "Little wars". Funny how he later decided that it added too much randomization and started using fixed damage instead of random number generators.

Coins are just two-sided dice.

There's Flipit, the wargame. Justice Hobos, the rpg, uses bottlecaps, which are similar.
