Use your imagination, if a PC hacks a guy for a bunch of damage you can say the guy is wounded in some way, maybe his arm is broken, or maybe the blade bit deep into his side and now he's bleeding bad. That's the best way to deal with it instead of putting a bunch of rules in that may or may not be fucked.
>>
>>49003288
Are we talking D20 or something like D20, you may need to be more specific.

And honestly, this sort of thing should be decided on a case by case basis. Usually no more than a few minuses to skills or stats. Though if you're running ng in a D20 style game, healing is so commonplace!ace that these off the cuff minuses dont tend to endure.
>>
The System is Dungeonslayers, it uses only d20 roles. Your roles have to be lower as your check to pass it.

I'm not a 40K expert, but I know alot about the nids and a little about the Necrons. Since the Necrons don't have any bio-matter and are just souls possessing machines... how would a the tyranndis fight them. Have they ever crossed paths in the lore?

Let's get the simple out of the way:
>Game matches
Necrons would most likely win.

>In lore
I'm not too well versed in Necron lore, but from what I understand they haven't all woken up yet. And apparently when they all do wake up, they're supposed to have an army that could beat pretty much anything.
>>
>>49003281
Is that necron supposed to look like it's flipping the tyranid off, or is that a happy little accident?
>>
>>49003281
>Have they ever crossed paths in the lore?
Lore has a Hive Fleet splinter pulling a 180 away from a Dyson Sphere containing the C'tan known as the Outsider. This was Oldcron lore. though.

I think more Oldcrons vs Tyranids had the Tyranids attacking a Tau outpost of some sort, before the Necrons activated and killed all the Tyranids. The Tau threw them a party or something and the Necrons killed them all too.

A Newcrons vs Tyranids battle is in Shield of Baal. That...

Because, if they take that to excess, they wouldn't want to hear anything. So they would avoid battle in favour of locking themselves in a soundproof room and then trying to silence their own heartbeat.

Kill the kobolds and the children. Tell the village that the kids were already dead when you go there.

That way you get paid and the kids dont suffer.
>>
>>49002455
Ask the kids.

Investigate further to find out the truth.
If Kobolds are telling the truth, check on children's conditions. If they are well fed, happy and not overworked, let them be. If they are mistreated, bring them back to the village and organize an orphanage there.

If kobolds are lying, and the villagers do care for orphans, kill the kobolds and bring kids back.

If everybody is lying. Kill everybody.

One wants to depict them like the most badass human warriors, who tended to be nomadic pastoralists like the Mongols (though this would mean the normal class for orc would be horse-archer and I don't want to even imagine that) who relied on weaker, sedentary peoples to make most of their manufactured goods for them.

All my friends who play D&D with me are highly intelligent engineers, who are always talking about fantasy books and follow a very strong stereotype. I feel very alien when i play, like i am not allowed to love the hobby or like i am not able to fully appreciate it because i am not that smart and actually find the stuff that inspired the game very boring (for example i don't like to read fantasy, not even sword and sorcery). What's your opinion /tg/? Can you help me change my perspective so that i can stop felling bad and alien about loving the game and just enjoy it?

Well, if you genuinely feel like you're not intelligent, just keep in mind that 99% of /tg/ have some form of complete mental retardation, so at the very worst you'll fit right in. At best, you might be the chosen one destined to lead us into a new age of enlightenment.

We can't really tell you anything that you'll actually believe. Your problem is a result of your own lack of self-esteem.

I can tell this from the fact that you consider your friends highly intelligent, when really they're probably the same as you.
I can tell they're not intelligent at all, because they play D&D

>>49000829
If you don't like reading fantasy and scifi you won't be able to "fully appreciate" the hobby, the references, the in-jokes... but you can still have fun. Just enjoy yourself and the game, forget about the rest.

Lots of people in this hobby don't take it very seriously. It's not supposed to be work.

Bumping for interest, can't really think of any specific systems. But I think there is already a tabletop conversion out there.
Classes would be interesting, though with the amount of characters and stuff, it'd probably be better to go with something more ability based, though that's just my opinion on it. Maybe organizing classes based on weapons? Like all pistol users would be derived from the same class.
Good luck anyway
I'd also be down to play if this ever happens

I've always wanted to run some corporate bullshit kind of horror involving the player's first day of work. Could be an office, big box store, grocery store, or some other place with an employee handbook that I could write up some creepy rules in scattered throughout the normal shit. Strand the players in place with weather or another claustrophobic phenomena. Corporate policy usually has had some incidents in the past resulting in some new rules and that is a way for me to slowly introduce some real cryptic weird rules that shouldn't be there. I wanted to run a campaign that rips off Star Wars basically wholesale, except it's more of a grey and grey setting, where the Empire is less brutal, the Rebels are less heroic, and Sith weren't secretly behind everything. The Tarkin Doctrine, for example, would never be implemented.
The conflict would basically stop boiling down to Chaotic Good versus Lawful Evil into straight Law versus Chaos.
The Jedi equivalent would be a recognized thing, rare as hell, and be shipped off to Imperial Academies...

How much emphasis do you want on the actual ranching? Full on raising sim, pure adventure or somewhere in between?

>Main things I really want to accomplish with it would be having a decent combat mechanical chassis and simple enough character building or monster building rules to not spend more than hopefully twenty minutes putting monsters together.

I have never used a splatbook because the lawyerly players will then argue that they should be allowed to use it as well and then nothing is a challenge. It's just that the players really don't care as they are trying to create their own stories anyway, and part of their job is to destroy my creations anyway.

In my opinion, the what makes a good DM is to be passionate and knowleageable about the setting he is going to run. I had a guy who was a overall good DM running a ASoIF for us, and it was a bit boring and weird because he was a show watcher and not the most avid reader, so he only had basic superficial lore of the setting and particulary he didn't understood the tone.

Most DMs are passionate about their own settings, so that helps. But if a guy has a lot of reading and knowledge about Westeros, has read the books, the extra material avaiable and has no fear of improvising,...

You know, I always thought this game had some potential. The concept seemed fresh enough. Weeb aesthetics would put off MtG players, but in my mind they should have had no problems picking up Yugioh players.

In a standard medieval fantasy setting, would the invention of the printing press and the subsequent widespread availability of reading material result in an influx of wizards? Could spellbooks and scrolls be mass produced, to the point where the average individual could get a hold of one?

Is this a setting where anyone can learn magic, or do you have to be born with magical talent

Because I think it would be cool if it was a setting where you were or were not born with THE GIFT, and the printing press was already in widespread use. Spellbooks would be banned because the magocracy has kept a tight control on who gets to see spellbooks ever since its invention.

Sort of like Fahrenheit 451 if the firemen were pyromancers.

depends on the setting
But I'll answer it for mine which does have the printing press since it's about pre-renaissance era. TL;DR no there wouldn't

Writing scrolls requires magical talent, meaning you have to literally put your magical skill into creating a scroll (game-mechanic wise you have to expend mana or a spell slot). Spellbooks are usually just notes on how to write ritual circles, components needed, the gestures, words you need to speak, etc.. However the books are often...

Can you put a magical source of energy into the ink of the printing press to make it work?
Like collect various magical creatures, mill them down and then use the fairy dust to print scrolls quicker.

I enjoy your self-inflicted torment, because you really care too much about what system you're playing.

Hey, there's the D&D defense force! You're earlier than usual. Go on champ, tell everyone why OP wanting to play different games is a bad thing.

Wow, you're a faggot.

"Got drunk last night so I couldn't bump" edition.

What is the World Ends With You?
It's a strikingly original Square Enix action RPG from 2008 for the Nintendo DS about trust, collective consciousness, desperation, imagination and fabulous outfits. Characters are swept into the Underground, a parallel dimension linked to major urban centers, where they run through a 7-day gauntlet of tasks and trials by higher-plane beings called Reapers. Band together and win the Reapers' Game and you have a shot at returning to the Real World. Fail, and you face erasure.

>What is this?
This is a /tg/ Homebrew RPG based on the above game. It's designed to be fast, simple and exciting, and it adapts virtually all of the mechanics from the source game to a form optimized for a tabletop experience. Most importantly, we've striven to preserve its core themes of cooperation, psychic powers and elaborate fashions.

>What system are you using?
We've adapted the core resolution mechanic from another Tabletop game Tenra Bansho Zero into our system. Roll a pool of dice based on your Stats, and count each die that's under your Skill or Psych as a success. It's fast, easy and dynamic. Characters only have four Stats based on your strength of will and mental condition, and only 9 Skills; mixing and matching Stats with Skills creates unique actions, such as rolling Protect:Rhythm to block a punch or Protect:Flow to dodge out of the way.

To flesh out your character, you come-up with free-form Tags like "The Gambler"or "Street Smarts" which describe unique elements of your character's personality and background which fills in the gaps in your Skills. Altogether, character creation takes all of five minutes.

Combat is fast and emphasizes cooperation. Players fight as a team, sharing their a common pool of HP and passing buffs to one another so that a different Player gets to the the superstar of each Round. Range is abstract, numbers are small and the action is lightning quick.

Just to keep the thread alive, how about instead of bumps, we roll from the thread roller and coteur matrix? Maybe whip up a description?
>>
>>48997199
Certainly! Feel free to make scenarios and threads all you like!

And I'm fairly certain that we need more than the two characters I have written up and one that Rhythm+Flow made, so feel free to whip up a few characters.

Ask a friend to set up a clown statue blatantly visible from your bathroom window. When one of your friends go to take a shit they'll see it. When they come back they will be like "what the hell is up with that clown statue?". At this point you discretely text your outside friend to quickly remove the clown statue.
Deny that you have clown statue. Drag it out as long as you can. Finally lament and go with them to the bathroom window.
Your outside friend will have moved the statue out of sight. Your bathroom buddy will be confused, scared, and possibly even...

Of course don't drag it out if the pc is obviously going to dismiss it and ignore the voice. That's railroading.

416 KB,
It has now been 220 years since the first Race Wars of the Fifth Age. In the last century and a half, the only constant expansion has been the Forces of the Noldor and the Thorinling Dwarves. The Celebrimbori control the lands between Mirkwood, Lothlorien, and the Eastern Plains. The Thorinlings are the Masters of the North. The Celebrimbori have a vassal race of Sindar who were forced out of their homes by the Thorinlings. This incited the Dwelvish Wars.

Though these two great races are the strongest in Middle Earth, there are many others that have power.

In the Far West are the Cirdani, cousins to the Noldor and shipwrights since time immemorial.

Dominating Eriador is the Kingdom of the Hobbits. This stout folk are lately come to their glory, but no other race can defend what they hold as these small folk do.

To their immediate North is the Goblin Domain. Under a young and impetuous King, the Goblin Folk signed a treaty with their blood sworn Dwarvish enemies and carved out a Reach larger than any Goblin holding in the History of Middle Earth, even into the forgotten ages of Beleriand.

In the East, the Easterlings...

/tg/ You are hired by Disney to make an actual D&D ride/show/ect. for one of their parks.

How would you make it?

Like a roller coaster, but instead of loops or high speed turns and stuff, you just get pelted by d20s.
>>
Basically a copy of the Indiana Jones ride except you start in a tavern, some animatronic bartender tells you about some quest, you eventually enter a large chamber with a giant Beholder shooting laser and shit, he'll keep popping up, some heroes will show up in one of the other rooms, one will cast a spell, and dead beholder.
>>
>>48994416
Oh. I'd put a trans dimensional portal at the end of the coaster leading to the world where I placed my last Demodragon.

Set it up so one of the park-hands nudges the guests to exit portal, but he's got to stay in character.

I am about to run a Middle Eastern campaign using Pathfinder with my group.
Do anyone have links to their folklores and such?

xiangqi is a literal meme game

Chess is practically a solved game, the only strategy is predicting which of the limited number of moves your opponent is going to use next, and selecting the appropriate counter-move from the same limited number of moves.
