Because they're easy to use and give an archetypal structure to a character build.
Not that classless systems aren't good. But saying that class based systems are bad is just silly.

Need some help with a custom covenant for a Vampire game. There are seven covenants in the city and most are more or less reskinned versions of existing covenants. The problem I'm having is a group I've called The Midnight Consortium, a group of ancient traders who formed within the East India Company in the 1800's and are now a Hong Kong based group of vampiric businessmen.

My issue is I have no idea what to do for their faction benefits.

So why can't guns do shit in World of Darkness?

Since your damage is based off your fucking successes you can be shitty and shooting and end up needing like 5 shots to kill someone. That is completely unrealistic. Usually it only takes 1 or 2 bullets to take someone down. Using those examples of "lol guy got shot 19 times and lived" does not excuse the fact that most times someone gets shot, they go the fuck down, hard, and World of Darkness' shitty combat system can't even run that properly, despite the fact that literally 90% of other RPG systems...

If you are in space maybe the gun can rip through walls into space, and if your on a station/planet maybe guns are automatically caught out and so makeshift weapons (like toolboxes) are used.

1 MB,
so I'm contemplating a setting kind of in the vein of Ninja Turtles by way of 2000 AD and so on. Mutants are becoming common, Psionics and Magic are a thing, as are people who can control machines with powers granted by 'Prime' a technological entity in the vein of gaia having become sapient on the 100 year aniversery of the invention of the internet.

Yeah I know kitchen sink clusterfuck but I'm trying to capture that late eighties early 90s saturday morning cartoon show toy commercial vibe with a little edge.

Among other things I'm thinking...

People are being born with mutations, occasionally they resemble mythical creatures or the usual zietgeist nonsense. A lot of the time the mutations are random and not terribly pleasant. This is the 3rd or 4th generation of these mutations with the 2nd gen having the most extreme mutations and the 4th evening out the less survivable ones.

More importantly certain governments (or megacorps that might as well be governments) are engaging in sterilization campaigns to stop the 'mutant threat,' (a notion which is somewhat laughable as 90% of the world's newborn children are mutated. 70% of them have minor mutations like extra fingers or reflective lenses in their eyes or unusual skin colors however. The remaining 30% vary from useful but drastic mutations to creatures that shouldn't be alive but somehow manage to live tortured halflives.)

Movements to both aid and harm the mutated exist. Japan is notable for its dropping birth rate. (blamed on terrorists using sterilization bombs several generations ago. What isn't widely known is that these sterilization bombs were used by the Corporate Diamyos themselves in an attempt to curb the rising rate of mutation.) As time passes the people of japan are being forced to reassess their cultural values as increasingly complex synthetic lifeforms take over more and more of the toil of every day life. But the birthrate keeps dropping (a trend not helped by the panicking medical community as mutations become more common in humanity as a whole) and the Corporate Shogunate shows no signs of giving foriegners a good reason to immigrate and bump up those numbers.

Global Warming happened, but it was fine. Mostly.

Underwater cities got built, skyscrapers were extended more than a mile above the new water line, and new agricultural techniques helped offset the desertification.

Of course, the cost of building these things put many local governments in the hands of the construction corps, but that's another story.
>>
>>48452181
neat, that helps with my fetish for underwater expansion and construction. Artificial islands would also be a thing I imagune.

I'm thinking G/B Meren or even Mazirek, preferably some kind of recursion/sacrifice theme.

I like the idea of Mazirek/Varolz/Endrek Sahr/Deadbridge Chant/Ashnod or Phyrexian Altar.

What does /tg/ think of wilderness exploration? Personally, I don't think the standard kingdom/province scale very useful save for creating geography for world building. What is much more memorable and exciting is when the DM creates a fully articulated wilderness area that can be explored on the same scale as one may explore a dungeon (nearly real time). There's nothing more jarring and disruptive to the ebb and flow of a game than having your roleplaying session turned into an overworld exploration mini-game. That also being said, I hate how the element of exploration...

MMO region maps are pretty helpful. D&D maps (especially hexes) have a really weird sense of scale, like a 3 mile hex will only have a village in it? That's absolutely ridiculous.
>>
>>48486562
Well I played Exalted 2nd Ed where we played as a bunch of low powered individuals and we all got stranded on a island where we and the other survivors had to survive. Now the DM had the island layout all planned out with various important places, individuals and groups placed.

Probably the best way I've seen exploration done.

Going by your pic, I assume "post-cyberpunk" is a post-apoc setting after the nukes wrecked a cybeprunk future.

Not a bad idea really. I mean, functionally it's not much different than your typical postapoc game except the tech left behind is more advanced.

I've been reading a lot of stuff from Arc Dream, particularly Progenitor and Godlike - As well as the upcoming Godlike campaign, which is about black tankies fighting the Nazis.

Pathfinder and WoD have a lot of the pro-liberal stuff, and we've all seen how the Confederacy is a stand-in for evil in most game settings.

With that in mind, are there any settings which are predominantly right-wing? I don't mean racist, it's just that I really can't get behind the very liberal principles that have slowly...

If your deck is so dependent on the commander that it falls apart without it, you deserve to lose.

If your deck cannot answer a 3 mana enchantment, it deserves to lose.

Ascendant is very strong, but it paints a giant target on you from the word "go". You might get in 2 or 3 solid hits with it before it dies, and grudges carry for longer than that. Sorin can be painful, but it's not instantly game-ending on its own, and if you're gonna argue "But other cards!" there are...

I was in a Greyhawk campaign playing as a Cleric worshiping Pelor. We found a group of goblins, who we killed. One of the other characters, a Paladin, said we should have given them a chance to surrender. This sparked a debate between him and I about whether or not goblins in Greyhawk were inherently evil, and -thus- if their genocide was morally justifiable. My character believed that it was.

I had two main arguments, one was spiritual and the other genetic.

From a spiritual standpoint, there are no good goblin gods in Greyhawk. This meant to my character that...

That could make for a very interesting campeign, Though ultimately I think the evil in D&D seems to come more from external sources (the gods) as the gods created everything right? So the moral imperitive is to kill the gods, destroy the universe, and create a universe that is morally superior.

So, when is it alright to attack a sentient creature on sight?
Like, if you heard rumors of Ogres raping and pillaging, would it be OK to then attack a group of Ogres you find in that same area? Or would you not feel morally justified until it was proven they were the correct Ogres?
Would you (as a good character) not attack a black dragon, unless you knew for sure it was up to no good?

A particularly harsh king, but powerful decides to purge the kingdom of corruption.

After years of monitoring all the noble houses with a secret network of informers, he springs his trap, and massacres ALL members of families determined to be involved in theft of royal funds; bribery of officials; murder; conspiracy; and all other major criminal charges. Of course, the deed is not so easily completed and the remnants of the corrupt houses rise up in civil war.

Who are the good guys? The royalists or the rebels?

No one. Conspiracy and corruption of the nobility is obviously a tragedy and a travesty, and some measure of accountability needs to be exercised over the ruling class, but a government-funded secret police force and private army with no oversight answerable and accountable only to the king is also wrong, and killing the innocent is never the right decision.

Malifaux is actually a 32mm game, though size does vary among figures, much like it does among actual humans.

Poor guy is left with only the biggest hiring pool in the game, the ability to nearly guarantee his presence in the late game, and the ability to finish off just about anything that's already taken a hit. Poor baby!

I'm still bloody mad that a decently-made (even if still T4) class as the Vigilante was tied to such a shitty concept.

>give Eldritch Scion 4+Int Skill points
>he is considered as in a state of focus so log as he has 1 point in his arcane pool, allowing spell combat
>swift action to toggle bloodrager powers on/off, no cost or duration limit
>still habe to take the feat to metamagic a spell, but we all know which one you're taking
level 12 arcana to use your CL and Cha for wands

Do these houserules make Eldritch Scion actually be not-shit?

I've always been a fan of Satyrs and Minotaurs. To an extent that I would usually talk to my DM and seeing if we can homebrew them in a campaign.

I dunno, I guess I just like their aesthetic or the fact that they have hooves and horns or just finding a reason to play pic related.

Halfbreed discussion/art thread I guess.

I don't know why but I like Satyrs too. Not that short and fat kind like Phil, but slightly shorter than an average human but still a bit taller than a dwarf. When I implement them, they're either a legitimate mundane race low in population and loosely based off ancient Greece, or a creature from the Feywild intent on hanging around the PC's plane for the lulz.

because we all know it's there, but none of us have actually been there. Lots of unexplored space, and sometimes weird, dramatic landscapes. Plus all that open sky; lots of stars at night. Something about being at "the top of the world," too, contributes to the ethereal weirdness of the area. And it's one of the areas of the planet, like the deep sea, where we simply cannot survive on our own.

>Women in Bretonnia

>Women in Bretonnia are second-class citizens, and many Careers are only open to them if they pretend to be men. This is not a feature of Bretonnian society of which the author or Games Workshop approves, but women pretending to be men make interesting

It's a throwaway paragraph that keeps the legbeards off their back.

Further confirmed by adding ridiculous shit they do not condone to make the previous statement seem equally obnoxious.

"A gamemaster who hates meta-currency (such as "Fate points", "action points", "bennies", and the like) is simply opposed to player agency and player control of the narrative. Such gamemasters are overly controlling, addicted to railroading, and in general are opposed to the players enjoying any part of the game besides the narrow corridor he forces them down. In other words, such Gamemasters do not want to roleplay, they want to write novels, and terrible ones at that."

Not quite right. I can force my players down preplanned narrow corridors regardless of any meta-currency they might use, so I don't particularly care.

Your return to Kakariko is already certainly an eventful one. Monster attacks increasing in frequency. The boy in red. The girl with "your eyes." And not a word of Impa since you last saw her on the start to your journey. Madas knows nothing of her whereabouts, but as he reminds you, if she doesn't want to be found, you're not going to find her. And for good reason, usually.

There's probably not much else to do aside from catch up with the locals, though if you stick around long enough...

A. Ask around town, see if there has been any troubles coming to the Gorons recently before heading off

B. Try to stick around and gather info on the girl.

We've been doing pretty well but a potential sidequest or two couldn't hurt. Ditto for more Rupees and Pieces of Heart.
