Everyone around the table is silent, thinking over what they have just heard and trying to put an appropriate response into words. Every member of your group, your little gang of oddballs and misfits, seems baffled, bemused.
Your name is Mia Vespucci, and you were the first to return, along with the typically quiet and thoughtful Joseph. Next came Cassandra and Leon, neither of them willing to even so much as look at one another – something bad happened with them, you can tell. Finally, and considerably later than everyone else, Petra and Elliot slunk furtively in. You thought about asking them why they were so late, but the sight of the gleaming weapon dangling from Petra's belt stalled any other questions you might have had. Had she, you wondered to yourself, walked through London with a SWORD in open view?
“I was careful,” had been her casual response, paired with an equally unimpressed shrug. With that, and not wanting any further delays, you had all sat down to exchange information. That was when Elliot had dropped his incredible suggestion.
“Please, for the benefit of the whole class,” Amelia says slowly, pinching the bridge of her nose, “Can you repeat that?”
“Well, I was walking here when I had the idea,” Elliot says, a trifle defensively, “Why not try negotiations? Talking things out like rational human beings, hmm?”
Just like the first time he suggested it, the table falls silent to consider his words. You're not sure who you expected to speak up first – Petra, maybe, with some blunt denial – but it takes you entirely by surprise when Joseph makes his voice heard.
“I feel I should remind you,” the introspective young man says slowly, “That we're not dealing with human beings, and I'm not convinced that they're rational either. Negotiations, in either case, would require us to have something that they want – which, as far as I know, we do not have.”
“Their lives,” Leon says in a bleak voice, speaking up for the first time, “They can do what we want, or they're fuckin' dead.”
“Well,” Joseph sounds a little uncertain, “I suppose that might-”
“And then we kill 'em regardless,” Leon bangs his fist down, grinning mirthlessly, “Send their boss a proper fuckin' message.”
“Now look here!” Elliot snaps – have you ever heard him snap before? - before the conversation can run away from him, “These slavers, they're the mercenary sort are they not? We just need this Lady, whoever she is, to call her storms off for one night – maybe even just a couple of hours! Just long enough to go in, do what we need to do and hop back to good old England, that's it.”
“Actually,” Cassandra says slowly, “I might be able to get us in. I've got a friend who's been offered a job. We could slip in, under the guise of slaves...”
The room falls silent once more as everyone considers the idea. You can't deny that it has a certain appeal, cutting past a lot of wasted time and getting straight to rescuing your father, but there are so many risks. All it would take is for one part of the plan to fail, one demon to go back on their end of the bargain...
“Mia,” Amelia says slowly, “It's your father we're after, what do you think?”
>I want to hear what everyone else thinks first >No negotiations. We attack >We'll try talking this time
>>43852503 >>I want to hear what everyone else thinks first "Though if we do have to keep going into the Demon realm, even after my father's rescue, we will need to deal with this Lady and her storms eventually."
>>43852503 >>I want to hear what everyone else thinks first If we go with the disguise option, we're going to need a few more former "freelancers". It's too suspicious if Ose managed to catch so many humans by himself.
Even then, we may want some people travelling through the tunnels anyway, for a two-tiered assault. On the other hand, DONT SPLIT THE PARTY
>>43852406 Testing wenches for prowess. General wenching turns into tournies of sorts. So there will be a regional that pits champions from the villages we've passed through then nationals, internationals, dimensionals, interdimensionals, etc. the finale will be me taking on the champ. Whoever wins calls all the shots in the relationship. He also crochets cause thats a manly hobby gods damnit.
>>43852482 "How was your adventure honey." "well this one town up north, hooo boy, those tavern waitresses got some HUGE knockers,-" "THOMAS! The childs at the table!" "Errr...right. Those waitresses have some HUGE breasts....?" "Better."
hey /tg/, i need to do a bit of a thought experiment to help me get ready to run a game. i need you to pick three magic cards the rules for the cards you pick must be as follows:
>CMC 3 or less >all 3 cards must be a single color >all 3 cards must be the same color >all 3 cards must be from the same block, they cannot be from a block then a return to block >nothing from alpha, beta unlimited or revised
thanks... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>43852185 well, some people asked me to put together a game. they wanted the cards to be used in the game. i've kinda got something together to make the cards interact with the existing system. this thread is more or less to force me to figure out cards beyond those being used by my players.

My group is interested in the idea of a US cop game with supernatural overtones sprinkled in and I'm very much up for running one. However, being a Bri/tg/ent my understanding of how the various agencies behave within a state/county area is limited and I could use a little help. The game will be set in Detroit. My understanding is that Detroit has its own PD. Then there are Michigan State Troopers and the Wayne County Sheriff office. So, my question to USAnons is this; how much crossover is there between those three agencies? Am I right in thinking that the Sheriffs office handles prisoner and court issues once they have been arraigned? I assume there is actually little corssover in the metro area as I imagine most if not all crime is handled by the local PD unless it becomes a federal matter and that the Sheriff or State Troopers only get involved either if requested as support by local PD or if they are pursuing suspects etc into the Detroit area. Am I close or way off? Yeah, I know since we're all Brits playing I could just wing it and do whatever but I'd like to have some semblance of accuracy in the world if possible just so everyone around the table knows the facts and is reading from the same songbook.
Not a Chicago-anon, but an Atlanta-anon here. For what it's worth, in Atlanta, there's the Atlanta PD, the Fulton County Sheriff, Fulton County Police, Georgia State Patrol, and some others. Here, the GSP polices the freeways first and foremost. They also police rural areas that don't have their own police force. They backup and assist local police and when necessary, investigate them, such as in an accident between a civilian and a city police car.
The county sheriff runs the local jails serve warrants for the courts, in addition to normal police services... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.

Frightening, probably. I remember when I was a kid a lot of the "learn to read" books were based around aboriginal dreamtime stories. They were pretty wierd, and cool, and I feel sad when I think about how little interest it gets. Why do people care so much about the mythology of the northern hemisphere so much? It sucks.
Attached to this report is a purported "ship class design" sent in by a student from one of our Scholastica Terrae. Suffice to say that our new fleet does not look anything like this, though I will admit to kind of wanting to build one just for what I believe are commonly referred to by the plebians as "risones et excreta".
In light of the Senate's discussions in the previous thread, I have implemented a 50/50 per cent strategy regarding Turret Tracking and Missile Agility technologies.... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>43851577 At present, we have an officer corps of 38. Of these, 27 are of the Centurion rank, 8 are Trierarchs, and we possess 2 Navarchs and a single Praefectus.
I can instruct the militarius to begin an internal search for properly-assigned applicants (a process known as "auto-assignment"). We should also give specific attention to how long we believe an officer's tour of duty should be; if we wish to ensure our officers receive proper rotation for training and rest purposes, we should set a tour of... Wich reminds me, we have to set up Mines on the moon, how long does our geo-surveyfleet need to get there? and how long till the nearest grav-anaomally for our grav-surveyers to check?
Mecha & Manga, Big Eyes Small Mouth, OVA - lots of RPGs have marketed themselves as "anime" over the years, but can that even really be done? Every once in a while I see a thread dedicated to one of them on /tg/ and a common sentiment seems to be that regardless of anything else, making an "anime RPG" is fundamentally impossible since the definition is so broad you might as well just make the game generic.
>>43851415 >making an "anime RPG" is fundamentally impossible since the definition is so broad you might as well just make the game generic Pretty much this.
As a simple example, what would the difference be in a giant robot game focused on psychological drama (Evangelion) and one focused around hot-blooded determination (TTGL)? They're both anime, but do you think a single system can handle them both? If so, how does that system deal with military-style giant robots that... Comment too long. From the notes, it seems like we're actually buying the original Sommerswerd/Moonstone/etc, not copies made by Jump-chan? Am I reading that correctly? Isn't it kinda bad for the local cosmology if we run off with some of those?
