>>43763559 Yeah, acting on the information you have an realizing you don't have all the information isn't railroading. It just means people don't have all the information. People in real life make incorrect assumptions all the time.
If they had a piece of information that directly contradicted the idea he was a strong combatant then I'd be on his side. Being a pacifist doesn't automatically make you a weakling.
Your burgeoning party of adventurers has achieved a notable victory in clearing out a den of bandits. As such, you have received an upgrade in personal protection from crude leather and padded cloth. You have each received from a local mayor a set of metal armor from far off parts. It looks a bit strange and it does not cover as much as the armor you're more familiar with but it's solid and sturdy.
An invasive thought enters your mind but quickly shake it off. “I wouldn’t dream of it!” You exclaim. “I’ll try to stay out of you way, is there a way you’d like me to stack the plates? You ask, silently reasoning her height would make the high plates hard to reach.
“... I’d like them on the counter” Kim pauses. “I can’t really reach plates and bowls otherwise.” almost seems hard for her to admit she’s short.
“Alright sounds good, see you in a couple minutes.” You say, Kim nods and goes back to her cooking, sliding a basket of wings... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
“ALL PASSENGERS, LISTEN UP! TIME TO GET ON THE SHIP. LEAVE YOUR BELONGINGS ON THE DOCK WITH YOUR TICKET. THE SAILORS WILL CARRY THEM TO YOUR QUARTERS. ALL PASSENGERS MUST PRESENT THEIR SEALS TO ME BEFORE BEING LET ON BOARD.”
The ship captain sits back down at his wooden table, flanked by a swarthy looking orc and a darker-skinned human wearing full plate mail. The various people waiting on the waterfront begin to stir and collect their things. Your companion, Sir Renault, turns to you and hands you a blue, velvet bag and a letter. The letter has the seal of The Republic on it and the bag rustles with the sound of clinking coins.
“There's 200 gold coins in that bag. Keep it close and the letter closer. Don't open it and don't let anybody touch it after the Captain inspects it. The only person who should open this letter is Blackburn. He'll meet you when you get off the ship. The trip will take about three weeks. I'll handle your equipment.”
He stoops to pick up your luggage and brings it over to where the rest of the passengers are putting their things. You shove the bag into your pocket and move into the line of people going past the Captain's table. In a few moments it's your turn and The Captain sticks his hand out. You give him the letter and he stares at the seal for a moment, his brown eyes inspecting it meticulously before softening as he hands the letter back to you.
“So you're one of Renault's hopefuls are ya? That makes you number seven then.” He looks you up and down. “So what's so special about you?”
“Sir Renault told me he believes I possess some latent ability to . . .” You trail off. Renault told you this was very confidential information. You don't know what you should say out loud in the open around so many people. The Captain picks up on your hesitation.
“Don't worry, all my boys and girls here have been vetted personally by the best spooks and inquisitors Ceril has. Don't know if the same can be said about the passengers, but Renault generally knows how to pick 'em. Can't say I have a good sense of your skills, but you look a... Comment too long. Welcome one, and I welcome you all to the tale of a world called Thespia.
Here is the odyssey of one that clings to this world with no face of their own! In a place where magic is fundamental to all of creation, all who live wear their lives upon their face, where a fire might wish to be the cooking fire of an inn!
Previously the Faceless set boundaries with a clingy Protean foxwoman, letting her know of his role's status as a widowed man. Bereft with guilt, she had begun to flee yet the faceless urged her to stay.
Feeling that the rebels could potentially... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Sol's light fades upon the labor camp as your people prepare for the attack. There are many that want to be part of the forward group, yet you hand select only a few. The ones advancing are: Yourself, Mira for her capability as a contractor, Cornel for his contract being your way in, and Odette for her fury and weapon pact.
Before leaving, you all stand together, forms darkening as horns are collectively let loose. You stand before them and look upon each of their faces. You've alredy given them the rousing speech tht made them trudge all the way back to this... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Some may call me a hippy but I'm kind of against supporting large corporations. The only place to buy magic cards around where I live is Target. My buddies have been playing a long time and are hard core collectors. They think I should just suck it up and get my cards from Target.
I met a gamer on craigslist who is interested in selling me his unwanted cards in the form of boosters. (He puts together stacks of 10 commons, 3 uncommons, and a rare of cards he doesn't want). He has complete control over what I get. I agreed to buy exclusively from him instead of... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
If you're not worried about the quality of the cards, the best price he should ask would be at or slightly below market price for new boosters. So probably about $4 (I haven't bought packs in some time). Do you know what kinds of cards he's putting into the packs? One thing you could do is to ask him to tell you what cards he's got and look up the value of those cards yourself, then offer a price based on those numbers. I'd be careful, though; if he's willing to sell you repacks but not willing to sell you the cards individually (or as singletons with assorted junk thrown in), he's probably not the most trustworthy person.
Do you have a collection already? What sort of cards are you looking for? What formats do you play (and yes, kitchen-table counts)? Those all impact what you should do here.
>>43762759 I play commander, exclusively. In my CL ad, I came up with the idea of letting him make boosters for me with his shit cards. I figured, if he doesn't want the cards and can make me pay, that's win win. Also, we have to meet up and it has to be worth his time which if I buy multiple packs it should be. However, I'm agreeing not to buy from target meaning all my cards come from him so I think that at least paying him for a regular booster price would be good.
Also, I want him to sell to me long... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
You'd be better off just buying his unwanted cards in bulk. I believe when I unloaded my bulk to my LGS they gave me something like 1 cent per common, 2 cents per uncommon, probably less. If you're buying random from this guy you're wasting your money paying MSRP for hand picked "boosters", seems incredibly likely he's gonna scam you.
I need your help /tg/. I need rpg maps (with a grid) of modern city streets (preferably without cars but I'm not that picky) for an upcoming Superhero RPG I'm running on Roll20. Google has failed me horrifically, so I turn to you. Post what you have, or links to some decent ones. In exchange, I will post what google has given me, and links to some good fantasy sources.
The closest I can think of is maybe Dogs in the Vineyard, which presents a really interesting world, at least in terms of making the Dogs feel fantastical. I don't really remember if Deseret itself gets the same treatment, though.
What would you say are the unique aspects of America that would need to be brought over for a uniquely American setting? What monsters would go well in such a setting? Magic?
>>43762339 Nah, native American legends more than fills up everything and it makes the perfect offset to the 'American' side. >'Americans' They have the new ways for everything. Magic, gods, worship, society, it is all organized, orderly, and at times rather cold. Gods are worshipped in churches and monasteries, magic is mass produced onto tools and weapons(if you want... You are Siris Erickson, and you are a mutant. This is hardly surprising, considering both of your parents are mutants, and you grew up surrounded by mutants. Despite being somewhat of a late bloomer with your powers, the leaders of the Xavier Institute saw incredible potential in you and your abilities. With the ability to control the wavelength and frequency of light, as well as emit light from your body, you could theoretically do incredible things, although that is currently limited to a limited control over the light in the surrounding area and the ability to concentrate... You’re still thinking about what you saw between Rahne and Josh when class finishes. You know there’s another team exercise today, so you meet up with the rest of the team. It doesn’t take too much time for Rahne to show up after that, but she’s doing her best to avoid looking directly at you. “Alright, team. Today you’re going to be going up against another team, alright? This isn’t a simulation, so be careful.” Just as she’s about to continue, you hear another voice from outside the classroom,... You never knew organized crime could be so incredibly boring.
Several hours’ worth of reading lies strewn across the table before you, there having ceased to be any kind of filing system at play quite some time ago. At some point or another – somewhere in between the fourth and fifth mug of coffee – the names started to blur into one another, turning to soup in your brain. Wang this, Poitr that – it doesn’t help that half these people seem to share the same goddamn surname.
Somehow, you thought figuring this out would be easy. Easier than this, anyhow.
“So… this Zhang Lei guy?” Nico looks about as sick of this as you are. She slumps back against the opposite sofa like a stormcloud that fell backwards through a Hot Topic. “We think it’s him?”
According to the information you’ve been sorting through, Zhang – pictured, in a very blurry photo, as a tall, rake-thin man with shaggy, dark hair and deeply set eyes – is one of Mr. Negative’s right hand men, involved in taking care of his personal acquisitions. He seems likely thief.
You’ve set aside a prime suspect within the Bratva, too – a shadowy figure going only by ‘Tsar Bomba’.
“Who do we check out first?” Says Nico, thumbing absently through the latter criminal’s file.
For the last two years I've been working on and off on a traditional RPG and then I stopped for about 3 months due to real life and now the drive just isn't there. Has anything like this ever happened to you / what should I do with all of my assets.
Tried. I ran out of steam quick once I got past the initial burst of creativity that comes with a new idea. Plus I'm not very good with math, so that's a big ass hurdle to overcome if I want to take a crack at it again.
If you've lost drive, nothing to lose by posting it all here for anonymous neckbeards to tear apart. You might have some stuff I think is cool, I've been working on a homebrew for about a year and it went from being a subsystem to tack on to date core sci-fi combat to a classess retroclone try hard.
