GM burnout is a real thing. It happens to the best of us, and trying to force yourself to keep going only makes it more and more likely the game is just going to die completely.

Be honest with your players. Tell them that you're not feeling it and that you need a break, and discuss with them other options. Maybe one of them wants to run a oneshot or a short campaign, or maybe the whole group would be okay with taking a month break or so, giving you time to regenerate and reassess the situation.
>>
>>47854834

WHY is the spark gone, though?

Is it your players?

Is it you?

And if it is you, are you sure you even like the hobby from the GM's side?

If it's neither, and it's the game, have you put thought into how you can reclaim what you enjoyed?
>>
>>47854834
This guy knows what he's talking about.
>>47854869
I'd suggest trying to get someone else to run a short game and putting your current one on hold. Playing a game instead of running one is a great way to rebuild that urge to GM.

So does the average human in 40k know of the Primarchs, the Horus Heresy and Traitor Marines. Or do they not?

I ask because I recently read ADBs Cadian Blood and Emperors Gift (I know, they're BL books, so I realise their canonicity is questionable at best, but still) and there seems to be some contradiction.

>Cadian Blood
>Cadian protag and Inquisitor are at one point talking about the Horus Heresy (though admittedly they do not mention the Primarchs) and at no point does the Cadian express disbelief...

Black library books are all over the place with the fluff, so you can find support for all sorts of nonsense in them if you try.

There is no "right" answer to this question, it just relies on what author you ask or what the writers feel like at the moment.
>>
>>47854464

Considering the vast size of the Imperium, a lot of this probably depends on who you are and what sort of world you live on. If you live on Cadia and have to deal with Abbadon and his shit or if you live on some sort of Administratum hub where there's a lot of awareness of galactic events/politics, I imagine you probably know of the basics. But if you're toiling in some forge world manufactorum or farming on an agri-world, you probably don't know dick about the terrors that lurk beyond, including...

Hey /tg/ trying this thread again today, as yesterday I got barely any feedback. I've been into tabletop games for a few years now, and though I've always been interested in wargames, I've always been intimidated by the sheer volume, and price tags associated with them. If possible could you kind anons help recommend me a good wargame? If possible I'd like the wargame to contribute to some larger campaign or narrative rather than just being isolated "dudes fighting each other".
Secondly I'd like to be able to play an army with an undead/necromancer feel, use the dead of my opponents against them, recycle my own soldiers, etc.
And thirdly I'd like for it to not be too expensive (no more than 250 investment preferably)... I know that's probably a lot to ask, but I really would love to get into wargaming and make some friends, but I dont know where to start and I'd appreciate /tg/'s help

Age of Sigmar actually fits what you are looking for. Your dudes aren't isolated since it's possible to travel in and in between different gigantic realms.
And for playing undeads just buy a box of zombies and a necromancer. They do not cost that much in the long run.

Warhammer rules are great, age of Sigmar is sort of meh in my opinion but works too. Go with the undead or vampire counts army or whatever the fuck their name is now days, you get to run necromancers that can reinforce or summon up zombie/skeleton units in battle by raising the dead.

If the price of models is an issue (plus gw zombies suck) look at kings of war models instead for your rank and file, just use gw shit for hero or important units. Loads of campaign material is available for warhammer and you...

Frostgrave is what you're looking for. A cheap campaign driven fantasy skirmish AND it is all the hype right now, so you will actually find players for it. In short: you have a little warband lead by a wizard and they search a lost city for magic stuff. I never played it myself, but afaik your wizard can be a necromancer.
AoS is not what you're looking for imo. I don't even hate the game, but if you're put off by expensive models/armies, that is the first problem. 2nd is, that right now it...

What's up, fa/tg/uys? I posted a few weeks ago about my concerns about a larp I was writing. It happened yesterday and I am relieved, that it is all over.

1,5 years of larp making and here are a few highlights about the game:

> game begins, the church is locked, have to wait for 30 mins for the doors to open
> the guy who was cutting the pork didn’t show up, had to use Main-GMs husband and an excuse ”the servant has passed out, don’t worry, our sherrif knows what to do with knives”

I've been a player to a gm who takes copious notes and have tons of print-outs, and now I've started to gm myself and it got me wondering, how many GMs keep their campaign notes so they can run that campaign again sometime in the future for a different group (or sharing them online)? Currently I feel that it's a 'one and done' kind of thing, but the more work I put into my setting, the more I feel that isn't the case.

so to all the GMs out there, do you keep your campaigns? Do you share them? Or just forget them.

You keep the good, trim the fat. You'll never get an exact copy of a campaign just because the nature of people, but you can take all the parts that definitely were the best and reuse them in different places.

I try and keep notes, usually I forget. I've started making forms to keep track.

I share scenarios. Whole campaigns need more flexibility, it's hard to write them out. But I tend to share scenarios that don't come directly from the campaigns I'm playing just because those have chapters with very specific conditions and they cater to the characters. For something to put on the web I want to keep it much more flexible.

They increased complexity of golem brains leads to more energy expended, which adds to wear and tear. Golems now have to occaisionally recharge at wells of power. This has led to a strange shift in behavior, golems now have places relatively free of living interactions,...

Every time I write up/run a sci fi game, I always find a way to work in androids because I love androids.

I'm planning up a space opera game right now and I'm working on how to include them. I want to take a leaf out of Bladerunner's book, and make them illegal to some degree. But I can't decide if they should be completely illegal or just banned on certain planets.

I'm leaning towards the former.

Have you read the core rulebook for the edition you're playing?

Helps to read the fucking rulebook, champ. :))

You can also try finding some live recordings of DnD sessions on youtube, they'll give you an idea of what happens in a game.

188 KB,
Never forget, demons are totally alien immaterial beings who don't enjoy the sins they represent, and have no desires beyond increasing the amount of evil in our universe. It is absurd to think any of them could ever not be pure evil, because their true forms are literally composed of evil.
It is doubly absurd to think your penis of all things could change their nature, no matter how large and magnificent it is. Nothing a mortal can do to them in the bedroom would register as pleasure or pain.
Don't be tricked. Smite and purge, brothers!

1 MB,
Sup /tg/. I'm new to tabletop games, and I'm considering getting into D&D's 4e setting Dark Sun. I'm reading the campaign setting PDFs and they look pretty interesting to me.

What can /tg/ tell me about their experiences with Dark Sun? Is it neat? How quickly does it get boring, if at all? How much can you squeeze out of the setting? Got any fun greentext stories about it? Know anybody who plays? Just tell me whatever.

D&D 4e Dark Sun was actually the first thing I DM'd and it was a lot of fun.

I've loved Dark Sun for a while, though, largely due to cutting my RPing teeth on a roleplay MUD based on Dark Sun called Armageddon.

There's quite a lot you can do with it, though I'd caution you against throwing the players into too much "high magic" stuff early on--it kind of takes away some of the setting's flavor if there's magic all over the place. A lot of Wild West story beats work pretty well in Athas, too, the farther away you get from...

Bumping. Anyone ever play a Dark Sun campaign? How was it?

I have not. The concept was always so exciting and appealing, and my dnd group all felt the same way. I remember when they came out with the 4e books we all bought in and sat down to make characters, but bad luck just kind of kept us from playing it.
