Why don't all RPGs where mind control exists have an Ego stat that functions as mental HP? >successful mental attacks lower the target's Ego before effect is determined >you can't make an enemy surrender unless their Ego is under your skill >you can't make an enemy hurt someone they normally wouldn't unless their Ego is negative >enemies magically converted to your side still recover Ego and have a chance to shake off the enchantment... It has come to my attention that the Adeptus Administratium has "misplaced" the vast information and knowledge about this knight house. And with the old rememberances and sages long dead, we need to make this "interveiw" in order to archive this house once again.
So, let's get started with the first question: What is the Nature of your Vow? >1d10
/tg/, I come to you with a matter of obscure planar lore. VERY obscure planar lore. "More obscure than Temporal Prime, hassitor, and aphanacts" obscure. Afroakuma, stay out. What are "probabilities," "probability lines," and the "7th dimension" under the context of the D&D cosmology? These are mentioned in 1e's Unearthed Arcana druid: www.angelfire.com/games/Oerth3/Druids/AppendixA.html >At 23rd level: Enter any of the Inner Planes. Roam the Inner Plane probability lines (the 7th dimension).... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Further research shows me that in 1e, Probability Travel was originally used to allow a psionicist to travel directly to other worlds and planes, rather than just the Astral Plane. It is likely that "probabilities" and "probability lines" have something to do with planar travel. If astrality and ethereality are valid dimensions, then in some respect, "plane" is another valid dimension.
So what are some interesting Paladin concepts/character concepts that would be refreshing/non-standard?
When it comes to Paladins, I found some interesting concepts: 1. A Paladin of a dream goddess that guards people while they are sleeping, protects their dreams from nightmares, goes cheerleader mode so that people would fight off their nightmares, and tells people to follow their dreams. 2. A Bardic Paladin that does both things a Bard and a Paladin can. 3. A Paladin of a god of fear that is pretty much what if Batman was a Paladin that would summon scary shit... Comment too long. >>43587963 Heh. Did something about that third point.
The Paladins of Fear, known also to some as Dreadknights, are the servants of the god called Noc.
Noc is the god of fear, horrors, nightmares and terror. For some reason however he is different in that despite the elements that would qualify him to be a member of the evil gods such as Bane, he is also a god of justice and tenacity against the nightmares that haunt the mortal realms. Although his tenets are spreading fear, he also adds that only those who do... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>43587880 I play along with the setting. That is, I use the setting's powers as much as is possible until it's no longer convenient. I don't care for the plot or any characters in it, though. I'll break it apart if I feel the need.
How do you handle the party relationship on a first session? Do you let them meet up for the first time and handle first impressions etc? Or do they already (somewhat) know each other when you start out? I usually tend to go with the second option as it tends to move things along a bit faster and I've had some awkward moments with some players reciting their life stories to people they've known for about ten minutes. What's your approach? Any advice on character introduction or related stories?
>Give me no less than two and no more than twelve important events in your life >Give me one major positive relationship you have in-universe (old friends/the excellent chef/some contact you know the face and enjoy meeting) >Give me one major negative relationship in-universe (people who want you dead, folks that stole from/have stolen from you etc) >Give me one or more people in the party you know, tell me... The option that worked out best for me was a little bit of both; the more mundane or easily connected characters are a preexisting adventuring party (or organisation/group) with the special snowflake/loner type character meeting them by circumstance at the start of the first session. Before things can get awkward, they are all immediately thrown into a conflict or battle of some sort, bonding them and giving them something to discuss. Maybe they are attacked by bandits or find the loner locked in combat with some monsters.
I'm going overseas in a few months, to a country where I don't think there's nearly the same kind of interest in these things, and where there will be a sizable language barrier for at least a few months, probably longer.
As for finding people online, I don't know where to go. I have a friend or two that would be interested, but none of us have GM experience.
I'd ask if anyone here was planning on running a game, but I did that years ago,... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>43587688 the kind of people who post on /tg/ looking for games to play are not going to be ones with a lot of experience or a lot of friends they can already play with, if you catch my drift. Sure, there's gamefinder threads, but pretty much everyone I've spoken to has been dissatisfied with the players found that way.
See if you can find a game on roll20 or something.
Post about X-Wing, Armada, FFG's Star Wars RPGs (Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion and Force and Destiny), d6, d20 (Saga), movies, shows, books, comics, vidya, lego, lore, space liquor and transparisteel appendages.
Hey Guys, not the anon from last thread, but does anyone have any info about Chronicles of the Gatekeeper adventure for F&D? I am looking for something to start my F&D campaign with and I am curious if it would be good for my Newbies.
Holy shit it's impossible to find a modern-ish day looking woman with notable face scars, that isn't drawn so that they're creepy looking.
Trying to find a reference pic for a major NPC in my traveller campaign that's been in a war zone and old enough to have 2 kids. But it seems I'm stuck with creepy looking art, or they're all super kawaii with a eye patch.
>His setting has gnome/halflings >They have their own realm
How do you justify this, /tg/? I know that every fantasy setting is a Tolkien rip-off by this point, but offer a serious justification for this. Elves have their homeland because depending on the setting they're adapt at magic, masterful bowmen and/or a superhuman master race more than able to defend their lands against outsiders. Dwarves are short, but stocky and sturdy more than able to drive an axe or pick into things many times larger than... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
>>43587270 Of course not everyone is a genocidal conqueror, but peace is maintained by a certain balance of power: the belief that there is more to be gained through peace than war. A situation where war is favorable over peace is difficult to imagine when your potential enemy/trade partner/ally literally cannot defend themselves. You'd lose what, two or three guys at best when marching into a gnome village? Extremely favorable odds as far as war is concerned.
Halflings live in placid villages in remote places far from the sight of man since the genocides.
Those who travel too close to a Halfling shire are always turned back, scared off or mysteriously disappear, often before they even know how close they were to finding the village. A human who actually manages to stumble across a halfling shire finds a oldly calculated show of quaint, merry little hill folk, friendly and welcoming. They will be very offended if you refuse their hospitality and seem exceedingly polite and gracious until you finally choke to death on their... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
Is this a concept that's been explored before? I've taken an interest in the idea of different music genres setting the mood for a cyberpunk setting and got interested in the idea after desiring to create my own version of the ghetto blaster out of an old Raspberry Pi I got me into the mood to look into old school hip hop and what not.
Punk, metal, and goth and all sorts of other rock as well as techno are all fairly indicative of the genre but what about country and cyberpunk? Jazz?
>>43586959 Country could be interesting in a cyberpunk cowboy kind of way. Wouldn't surprise me if it's been done before. The old school hip hop/rap thing could also be pretty cool aesthetically, would probably have pretty heavy themes in classism and shit like that, though that's pretty standard for cyberpunk as a whole.
It would have more of an affect on the fashion and the aesthetics of the world then anything else, unless you were looking for something less dystopian though I'm not sure you could... Comment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I suppose. After a point it's all aethetics from there. I don't actually think you could really innovate on the theme of cyberpunk without branching out and making it not cyberpunk. Going into the the hip-hop theme would be retreading old grounds of classism and maybe a bit more racism I guess if you decide to use some kind of expy for blacks in the hood or something although I am amused by the idea of crips and bloods Shadowrun style with mages, riggers, and hackers and standard issue.
>Be a solar rancher out in the stixs >Ride my horse out to check on the panels to make sure they work >Occasionally have to fend off energy thieves and a few animals >Head into the nearest town to get wasted and get supplies >Smoke and knock'em back while the local band is playing >See a few corporate boys in their fancy suits hanging out >Things just might... Last thread we were talking about Geist, so let's do that. How would you adjust their powers to make them fit their setting?
Of the upcoming 2e books, what rules or setting aspects do you hope get changed? What do you hope gets more focus?
