It is. Not the minor chapter I myself want, and the fact that they're an Ultramarines successor, but still, I must say they have a lovely color scheme.
>>

Aurora Chapter are pretty cool for an Ultramarines successor, though. Space Marines using armoured warfare is awesome
>>
Aurora Chapter does have a pretty decent color scheme

I'm really like the gold accents as part of that Slaanesh color scheme too.

134 KB,
/tg/ I've just wrapped up a game that took us four months of weekly sessions adding up to about sixteen Fridays of roleplaying. This is pretty long for our group.

It got me wondering: How long is an average campaign for you? How long was/is your longest campaign ever? What length of game do you prefer/have the best results with?

Bonus points if you have a cool synopsis of a memorable example.

Going over a year of nearly daily sessions.

Recent lengths: 1 month, 10 months, 3 months.
Average: Probably 6 months over my whole life.
Longest: 3 years.

The nergal concept had a lot of potential, but Citadel made the original MoN demons resemble one-eyed, one-horned imp children with distended Biafran bellies and cloven hooves, and everything marked "Nurgle" literally went to shit from there. Those models are the reason Plague Marines got pickelhaube with cylon visors and lolswollen feet splitting the toes of their boots open. Then the bellies just kept getting bigger until they split too, and ...

This would a have been really interesting, having marines that were afflicted with other forms of disease. Hell you could even apply this idea to warbands from other chapters (Nurglite Iron Hands Sucessors infected with chaos Necrotising Fascitis, for example), along with the themes of vibrant rebirth that Nurgle has.

Alright your highness, this is an "Imperial Parasite" and two "Manworm" attendants. The latter grow inside the stomachs of men who have gotten away blameless for grievous crimes. I guess your sins really do eat at you from the inside. When Manworms infest a given area, they're usually disguised as humans, and only operate at night so as to make the disguise stronger. In any case, when enough of them build up in a certain area, they will drop a cluster of bulbs from the tree onion into the bottom of a great pit, and then begin to fill that hole up with...

For a funny one, waaay back when the party was just getting started we found an abandoned cart in some beasty's cave. Tis a grim life being a dwarf.

Interestingly, though, the paraphysiology of the condition can be double-recessive, which means affected parents can only produce affected children (unlike other more conventional forms of dwarfism). So a colony of Laron's would eventually grown into a civilisation of Laron's without ever producing a tall person.

I wouldn't

But for the sake of argument; a game of intrigue and espionage! The players are members of the art scene in the Jin and jazz art deco age of California. The west is still wildly out of control, with Mafias mobs and foreign agents all vying to cut themselves a big piece of American pie. The players get caught in the middle.

Have the BBEG be the painting in question, cursed - or blessed - by some random supernatural thing Long Ago. Anyone who examines the picture long enough is enchanted by the magic in it, which compels them to form a cult dedicated to rewriting the world to the design of the image's curse (i.e. turns them into a group of badguys), and the magic effects that warp people thusly are naturally defeated by destroying the picture. Whether this works through copies (possibly, if the copy is made by a cultist) or not is up to the GM... but having the party have to raze a certain...

I really hate these things. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with "bad guy races," but Neogi are just badly written. All they are are slaving slavers who take slaves. It's especially bizarre that they were introduced in Spelljammer, which was otherwise so thoughtful and creative. There, all they are is bargain bin mindflayers (there's almost literally nothing absolutely nothing about them- slavers and pirates, eat captives, ships shaped like invertebrates- that isn't shared by the Illithids). D&D is chock full of redundant monsters that exist to be little more than evil things for PCs and friendly NPCs to fight against.

Pick the ones you want, and ignore the rest. Personally, I think Neogi at least look alien and a little disturbing compared to the more comical octopus headed Illithids and their dozens of subspecies.

There might be a version of this in a more modern edition, but back in AD&D 2E, there was an artifact that was basically a gigantic monster truck steamroller about fifty feet high that constantly moved over the world magically leaving what amounted to an asphalt highway in its wake. Whenever it rolled into water that was deep enough to submerge it, it would plane-shift to a different world.

I always thought it would be cool to use that as an excuse for a trans-continental highway suddenly springing up...

Whether he is a player or a character I suddenly have a second voice of reason to help me steer the group away from stupidity.

He's a little too muh realism when it comes to magic. You don't let the cop bitch about how authorities are acting in the campaign, do you?

IIRC, doesn't he play a big stupid barbarian with Billy and the Werewolves?

I have started to like that motive, after reading a jietai kare no chi, kaku tatakeri manga. There is something really cool in taking the wizard out with a sniper rifle. Anyone else likes this motive ? Are there any books in such setting ? Which side wins the war ?

Fucking call it Gate.

Also, JSDF propaganda manga is harem bullshit, who knew?

Yeah it is. But defending a trench against Roman like era army looks so comfy.

Russia makes a shit ton of time travel books including modern tech vs. fantasy. None are good, though it's funny that the two most perpetually salty revanchist countries are most notable for producing superiority fantasies like that

I kind of like the idea personally, but I vastly prefer full-on modern (military) fantasy - modern tech versus fantasy has too much HFY for my tastes

Of course moderns win in most of the cases unless bullshit epic-level DnD wizards enter the scene

Need plots for campaigns without (or at least little) violence.

Setting is typical medieval fantasy.

Did you tell your players about your idea already

You should do that before you bother planning anything.

That was the idea of the players, not my idea.

Been a while since I've dwelled into mud's personally. Any recommendations?

Could you recommend any servers?

Nothing personally - the one that I was playing on the regular just kind of shit itself and had a few super old players ragequit, but you can go to TMC and check out the better ones.

http://www.mudconnect.com/

That's got a list of most of the active MUD's nowadays - a lot of them actually have fuckin decent playerbases.

Alright /tg/, let's hear your voice. Either through vocaroo, chirbit, youtube or whatever hosting service you so desire. Talk, act, sing or whatever. Make requests of the willing participants, but please be respectful. Keep things PG-13, no lewd requests. Take that to /soc/.
Excellent resource for learning about voice acting:

Challenge: Record yourself reading three different short lines or one long monologue from your favorite book/character. Keep it /tg/...

2 MB,
Greetings elegan/t g/entlemen,

I come to you seeking guidance in my hour of need. I am in search of software to help me develop a new fantasy setting in extreme detail. My requirements are two-fold:

1) Height-mapping software. I need something that can help me simulate realistic geography (fractal based perhaps) down to the level of river flows and their effect on the land and the impact of natural disasters such as meteor strikes or volcanic eruptions. Added bonuses if the capability even exists would be basic A) systems of plate tectonics and B) weather systems...

The setting is generally low fantasy on the earth-like world (we'll call it Midgard until I come up with a better name). That being said the geography is royally fucked after the giant ass volcano at the juncture of a few continents blew its top and sank a lot of land into the sea, along with the predominant empire in the region. People believe that the previously dormant volcano is a stairway to heavan and it blew its top after some cunts decided to kill the Son of God (TM).

Now getting into the point of a working solar system. So while Midgard more or less follows the physics of our own world, the other planets play by their whole own set of rules. Now this is where magic comes into play. Mages are (incredibly rare) individuals that given a power source can play by the rules of physics/reality from another planet on Midgard. Now the nearer one of these planets orbits Midgard the more powerful the magic becomes. For example the 'death' planet comes near Midgard every at the...

Additionally the sun that the planets orbit is the heavan equivalent of this setting. I'm debating whether I want to have a second smaller sun as my 'hell,' dedicate a planet to it, or place it in the literal core of Midgard.

I hope you guys can give me some good recommendations. I can post more once I get home from the bar and have access to my notes if you would like.
