Elves are fucking weird.
In my thousands of years on this planet I've seen Alexander the Great conquer the known world, the Romans establish their empire, the Germanic tribes fracture this empire, the rise of Charlemagne's empire, the invasion of England by the Normans, the Crusades, the Hundred Years War, and the unmatched power of Louis XIV. I've seen America fights for its freedom, and I've seen Europe set ablaze in the name of liberty, equality and brotherhood. I've seen the German Empire rise and destroy Europe in two wars incomparable to anything ever seen before on this planet. But in all the years of my long, long life I've never seen as much faggotry as in OP.
I think having certain races that live for a very long time is kinda of a literary trope for "wise elder races". Plus in D&D world not much tech development occurs even over centuries or millenia. Maybe handwave it with the old "rise and fall of empires" or whatever.
Except opposite, really.
Gayness as a concept didn't even exist 200 years ago. The "sexual orientation" idea would be bizarre to them, since they would have lived through times where it was understood to just be a fetish.
>multiple centuries under their belts
>tight loli bodies
True dat. You weren't "gay" in that you identified as a gay person, you just fucked men. Pic related is often considered to be the common ancestor of every single current European Catholic monarch and Catholic pretender, yet he frequently had sex with men.
It was just something you did, not something you identified with.
>tfw no millenia old elf gf who has become jaded and nihilistic after having seen so much shit over the ages and thinks it's cute and endearing when you flip your shit over something that seems really important to you because it won't even matter after a few centuries
People identify themselves by their fetishes all the time. Breast men, Ass men, pedophiles, and the like. There's even an entire group of people who have sex with sheep and consider that such an important part of their identity that they have a parade every March.

niggerelves shit talking again[/spoiler
The socially acceptable term is "brown elves" or "dark elves". "Delicious brownie" is tolerated too, from time to time.
> People identify themselves by their fetishes all the time
They certainly do now. But how much of it is due to the recent development of identity as a fundamental element of social life ?
A while ago I read a book called "the adventures of the abbot de Choisy dressed as a woman".
It's an autobiographical novel by the said abbot (go read about him on wikipedia), all about how he went around france in 1660 or so with a dress on and slept with young girls and no one cared even when they were aware of his gender, except for the fact that the dresses he wore to mass were sometimes seen as inappropriate because too colourful. At one point he talked about the brother of the king (or was it his nephew) liked to crossdress too. But at no point did he or anyone in the book mention what he is, besides a noble.
Bear in mind it was written long after the fact, and from what I'm gathering from wiki, from an edited translation of a heavily edited summary of his letters. I'd like to see the originals / more contemporary accounts before I'm inclined to accept this was 'normal'.
Depending on the motives of the editors/translators, a lot could have been lost: maybe they didn't want to embarass him / themselves, maybe it was a publicity thing to make him seem more normal, maybe it was just edited to fit social mores of the time and to not shock the delicate sensibilities of the English.
It wasn't normal. But the book if authentic shows that it was something not too scandalous, and also, even if it's not actually autobiographic, that there was no label for people who did this at the time. That you weren't a transvestite, just someone who dressed as a woman, like you weren't gay, you just fucked men.
I do believe the term for the latter is "sodomite".
Honestly you're right in that it wasn't totally scandalous, but I'd have a hard time believing that he wasn't thought of as a bit of a nutter.
I read it on the site of the french national library. If you can read french, it's there : http://gallica.bnf.fr/m/ark:/12148/bpt6k2079262
I don't know if it has ever been translated.
