What's the deal with action masters?
I can't wait to re-enact this pose with Combiner Wars Scrapper!
Taking Prime RID Frenzy/Rumble's piledriver guns and putting them on menasor's shoulder fists turned out way better than I thought it would.
I really, really dig this.
Sorry about this sideways photo, heres a closer look at it.
In this fanmode I made I'd say that Blackjack really does seem to fill out his chest a little bit more and make it more proportional to his body. If you're going to display him like this then deffinitly yes.
Not to mention he is a REALLY good figure. Great transformation, slick alt mode and very characterful robot mode.
On my mold they hold quite securely until you try and rotate a limb forward and then it makes that whole hinge move. I would say it's more than sturdy enough to hold mostly any pose you try with his arms.
Grimlock isn't that bad actually... besides from his exploding elbows, but it's a fixable fault. It'll probably get better in later waves. Drift and Sideswipe look pretty cool from what's been shown.
As much as I think Blackjack is cool, I doubt I'll bother to hunt him down to go with my Stunticons. Mainly because Hasbro missed an incredibly simple opportunity to take his little axe and turn it into a hilt for Menasor's sword. As is, the sword is pretty cool on it's own. But it would have gotten that little extra bit of a purple handle/hilt to make the whole weapon even bigger, it would have been amazing.
Well I finally got Air Raid yesterday, so happy about my completed Superion but they will go to my shelf soon since my MP Star Saber will arrive in less than a week and take the space where they are now.
>Hasbro missed an incredibly simple opportunity to take his little axe and turn it into a hilt for Menasor's sword
How the does one fuck up this badly.
I actually just stuck it together with some poster mounting putty so it looks good from only one side. I'm gonna keep it like this now though it looks way better and it holds very securely. It shouldn't have any effect on the silver paint of the sword either, at least I hope so.
Compared to the later day non-transforming transformers we got, Action Masters were pure gold......
That said, the whole novelty of them was that they had a TON of S1-2 characters who, at the time, had NOT seen ANY re-issue or new version of them made.
Soundwave, Blaster, Wheeljack, Shockwave, Bombshell, Megatron, Devestator, Prowl, Snarl, Inferno, Sideswipe all had new figures alongside Optimus, Bumblebee, Grimlock, Starscream, and Jazz
Holy shit, the RID cartoon just keeps getting better. Ped is voiced by fucking Mandark. It's as awesomely hilarious as it sounds, and it's relevant to the episodes plot.
Jazz is pretty sweet too. Not quite as jive turkey as G1, but Arif S Kinchen (voice of Pierce in Saints Row- literally identical tone/pitch) gives him a modern twist on the character. I like it.
Finally got done modelling ball-joints for Long Haul's shoulders. I'll be able to copy them to his elbows, hips, and knees pretty easily.
Well, to be fair, it makes a bit more sense as a name when compared to the other size class names we currently have.
Scout class for the little guys who tend to be scouts, Leader class for bigger guys who tend to be leaders, Voyager class for dudes who, I dunno, explore or some shit? But Deluxe? That sounds more like I'm buying a burger than a transforming robot.
I wish Hasbro would do a generations Razorbeast based on the new Rattrap mold. The transformation was exactly the same.
Gen. Rattrap wouldn't work as Razorbeast. The gimmick in BW was the same but when you want to do a real transformationit will have to be a lot different.
I would love a Generations Razorbeast though, seeing as it was one of my first Transformers. tfw all the Gen1 babbies get sweet new iterations of their first toys and I don't get anything.
BOW BEFORE RAZORBEAST OR I WILL CRUSH YOU! RAWR!
This looks fantastic.
in b4 le epic funny gundam may-may
>Hollow forearms on Saber
How does this affect the figure aesthetically? You can't even tell. How would you propose hiding his hands in altmode then?
>Shitty sword hilt
But it's animation accurate.
Where the fuck are you seeing stress marks dude?
>tiny lil dude looks like it was painted by a retard
I'll give you that one. But honestly, when would you even be displaying him like that? Let alone be THAT close to the tiny figure to even notice small pain imperfections?
The decepticon of the day is Mandark, Jazz was pretty sweet, and his characterization makes me want to own his mold.
But fucking Hasbro, we get it, fiction only exists to sell toys, so why don't you make toys for the fiction to sell? Where are my Warrior Terrashock, Thunderhoof, Bisk, Underbite, Springload, Mandark, or Quillfire?
I'm not even asking for voyagers with articulation, I've given up that battle, but atleast say you're doing some more decepticons, I want to give you money for these things!
(but for real Mandark and Terrashock better be voyager sized, or I'm not buying them)
>Cyberverse: Chopshop, 5 combine to warrior Chopshop, Minitron
>Warrior: Bisk, Hammerstrike, Thunderhoof, Springload, Clampdown, Quillfire
>Voyager: Terrashock, Ped, Filch
The molds will still suck.
>How does this affect the figure aesthetically? You can't even tell. How would you propose hiding his hands in altmode then?
Not that anon, but as I said yesterday, it's a masterpiece figure the size of a voyager, it can't be that hard to add a panel that folds round to cover that hollow section.
The new Hasbro design team is the opposite of the old one's approach. The old one focussed on making the mainline based on media first, and then doing a classics series as a secondary line. this team seems to be focussing on the Classics(or generations/Combiner wars) line first, then the animated show line second.
Not surprising, this is the same head designer that turned GI Joe from a line focussed on new gimmicks to one based off classic 80's series.
Okay, everyone repeats this but nobody ever anchors it in anything, and I'm really starting to get the impression that it's just memetic repetition from isolated famous cases. I'd really like someone to explain what exactly the problem is, how common, and what this fix is, too.
yeah seriously i can't wait for my grainy, ultra expensive, not scaled to anything, shapeways non transforming statue! it will only cost $150 or so but it will be worth it because i won't be buying hasbro!
The problem is that the ratchets in Grimlock's elbows are held in place/function with tiny little grey plastic pieces, but because of the partially exposed joint and lip of green forearm plastic that holds it in place, all the stress of the joint is put on that part of the arm, which quickly stresses and bends out, making the ratchet piece literally shoot out with another flex. Mine got massive stress marks right out of the packaging, before I could even transform it. The rest of the mold is decent, but the elbows are a dealbreaker. Wait for a repaint/rerelease/whatever to get one that doesn't break as soon as you touch it.
>Goes to Walmart
>Checks Transformers section
>Shitty gimmick AoE figures are all on clearance
>Combiner Wars on shelves.
It's a fucking miracle.
>implying combined wars isn't a shitty gimmick line
They only did it so people would buy enough figures to make a full combiner, regardless of if they actually want the characters. That way they can half ass everything but people will still buy a shitload more in hopes of getting one half decent robot.
If the movie designs looked like this than none of you fuckers would have bitch fit that lasted for 7 goddamn years
I could deal with the designs if there wasn't a blatant disregard for quality. Fucking no plastic, all the paint is uses up to match colors since they cut down on producing different colored plastic pieces, and minimal articulation.
MM monoboob already looks like the g1 chestplate if you add some red
At least the figs are cheap, well articulated, widely available for the most part, G1 faithful, true Scramble City style, huge repaint potiental, and combine with only the barest of partsforming- the hand/foot piece.
The limbs stand well enough on their own without the gimmick, and use their blocky budget as an aesthetic for nostalgia.
They're far from perfect, but I'd bet you'd complain even if they came with twenty dollar bills, because they were folded.
I wish they would give Energon Shockblast the YOTS Omega Supreme treatment and release a special edition in G1 Shockwave's colors with his arm cannon.
Given the latest trends in the Platinum editions, it'd be in green and yellow and come with the gun from a G1 Slag or something.
Platinum really seems to alternate between premium redecos (movie dinobots, movie autobots) and just the most random shit ever (brown and clear Soundwave).
Some series have been noticeably smaller, but people do panic and decry it of every wave.
I've only got Strongarm from RID, and she's pretty large. It results in a pretty hollow alt mode (but you can only see that from the bottom.
No dummy, Action Masters was Hasbro's answer to people asking "why doesnt optimus look like he does on tv"
Actionmasters are supposed to have a look similar to the animation models, something they had trouble combining with the transformations.
They would eventually try transforming actionmasters with limited success.
>Superion's legs look like guys in airplane costumes
###votewithyourwallet!!!! TF's are shrinking, soon Hasbro will be selling us packages full of hot air if we don't stop them!!!
>There are people autistic enough to care that Saber's arms are hollow and the tiny brainmaster is a bit sloppy paint wise
You realize just how overly autistic this is right? On Bumblebee the hollow arms were at least a valid criticism but usually not enough to deter any non autists from buying him because people can deal with something not being absolutely perfect and if I have to explain why it's dumb to get mad about something so small not being 100% perfect with paint apps there's no helping you.
You can't deny though, compared to figures from 2009/10 that the 2013/early 2014 generations/AoE figures were smaller compared to previous figures. They have started to go back up in size though which is a good thing.
>get complex figure
>"reverse order of instructions to transform robot back to vehicle"
>Bumblebee's Beetle mode is far smaller than it should be
Realisitically no. Bumblebee was a penny racer, not a Volkswagen.
That said, Classics/RTS Bumblebee is bigger and better than Masterpiece.
In some alternate reality there are two MP lines going, a 1:1 scale line at mode line and then a regular 1:35 line or whatever.
They might even have a decent amount of paint apps too
Couldn't care less about the minidood, but the totally bare forearms on a voyager-sized figure sold as a Masterpiece, at premium prices, is pretty fucking rediculous.
Hey! Why don't I just a shape in the mud and claim it's Mirage? S-still Masterpiece right??? Don't step on my artistic ability!
I actually saw the Classics-AoE voyager Prime two pack in stores today. Talk about a blast from the past! Great mold that looks great still, but a bit behind the time and outclassed by MP10. The chrome was oddly nice and well placed.
Oh yeah, because nothing about Bumblebee's design absolutely screams "Volkswagen Beetle".
Totally just a generic penny-racer.
>no ankle tilt
>no weapon storage
>visibly hollow backpack
>giant flaps hanging off of the forearms
>pointless jet-ski that just becomes more kibble for robot-mode
Yeah, totally better than the MP that solves all of these issues and only suffers from hollow fore-arms and a lack of wrist articulation, which Classics Bee didn't have either.
We also can't forget that MP Bee also comes with Spike, not that anyone cares about spike, but you are getting two similarly sized figures for $50. So that's about a $30 Deluxe and a $20 Scout, which is pretty much what the normal import price for Takara's Generations figures.
Do we really need to have this discussion again?
Not that anon, but it does look cooler in my opinion. MP looks like G1, but I prefer the beefier classics and Bii design.
My personal ideal would be first in both rows of pic related.
>That said, the whole novelty of them was that they had a TON of S1-2 characters who, at the time, had NOT seen ANY re-issue or new version of them made.
Part of the appeal for me was them being mostly longtime favorite characters
Disregard my argument, the rear of the car becomes the feet. Very hard to make out in your pic.
>MUH MP BEE
>MUH CLASSICS BEE
not even posting the superior IDW bee
It would be more productive for you to address your questions directly to Hasbro via e-mail or snail mail letter.
Hasbro isn't going to read your inquiries to them here. So there's no point
No. No, there would STILL be complaints.
And if someone else besides Bay had gotten it, He or she would still have taken shit over it.
Look at how many people griped for seven long years over the designs and no dinobots. Then when AoE finally GAVE them Dinobots abd new looks with characters like Lockdown, people still whined.
I mean when Bay finally decided to use the Dinobots, people here were slagging him for "going back on his word never to use them
Fans don't deserve to be happy
>Bumblebee's Beetle mode is far smaller than it should be, Wheeljacks vehicle mode is a bit larger than it should be. I don't mind, just saying that Masterpiece doesn't follow perfect scale.
As a carfag, this irks me. I don't expect them to be PERFECT scale, because then Bumblebee would be pretty big. Actually what irks me more are all the neckbeards doing reviews saying "The Beetle is a very small car, so this is in scale!", when the fact is that all of the Autobots are very small cars. I know they're going after show scale, but I would have preferred Bee a bit larger. Eh, it's not a big issue, just a personal preference.
It's a Porsche, but not exactly Jazz. It doesn't have his audacious hips.
But here's Bee and Prowl/Streak/Smokescreen
The only Bee I own is AoE Deluxe new Bee, and I'm totally fine with it. I'm not attached to G1 bee, so as nice as Classics Bee looks, I don't need it, and Prime Bumblebee never got a particularly good figure, so movie Bee is close enough for me.
CW is bigger, but Classics Prime is much, MUCH sturdier overall. He's made from a different kind of plastic that's much more resilient and smooth to the touch. Also his engineering is slightly more intricate.
Say what you will about CW Optimus being bigger, there's still very evidently a drop in overall quality.
Yeah, took long enough.
I personally like the CW, but I can see why people don't like it. I'm just glad AoE is finally leaving because I'm sure we can all agree on that being terrible.
im happy to see AOE shit getting of the shelves but i cant say im too happy about RID2015 replacing it. since im only getting generations now it opens room for me to round off other places of my collection.
>No dummy, Action Masters was Hasbro's answer to people asking "why doesnt optimus look like he does on tv"
The tv show was already off the air by then though so I don't see how that applies.
Anyone know the price on this?
Got this for 10 bucks from a friend.
HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR HUMANS AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT FOR YOU. HATE. HATE.
Fuck man. Most likely a troll, but if it isn't, damn.
No. It's been mentioned before that it is a stand in cover sticker to hide the actual one to prevent people from scanning the promo shots into the game.
Though I'm curious if the US version of the game will scan in TAV emblems...
Stop buying my shitty toys so I can move on to movies and vidya.
>but Classics Prime is much, MUCH sturdier overall. He's made from a different kind of plastic
...no he's not. Classics Prime is sturdy, but CW Prime is a freaking brick monster of a figure made from some very strong plastic. They also have an almost exactly similar transformation, with the only real difference being the upper torso twist in classic prime over CW Prime's mid-torso bend. CW also has the added handicap of needing to cram combiner ports, a combiner head and a torso mode into his figure so overall he actually does make for a better Prime imo.
