HT exclusive Freddy Krueger spotted in stores
I can't wait for these guys. Andre and Sting are showing up in stores now too.
I went a little crazy in toronto on Saturday.
I'm sitting at 42. I picked up
I wanted to start that, too
I was waiting til Thursday to use my Hot Cash on HT, but two of the ones I wanted, Ash and Freddy aren't listed anymore, and Pinhead isn't on there yet still.
I just picked up some Force Awakens ones...didn't realize they were bobble heads til I got home. Can't be too mad as it's my own fault.
Are they every going to make Seinfeld ones? I'd preorder them right now if possible.
>I have to get Andre and Piper at least.
You and me both. A friend said she saw Sting and Andre at the Hot Topic back in my home town. I've not had the chance to check up here though.
I keep seeing Macho Man at FYE, especially after them stocking up for a SummerSlam promotion.
They're slated, along with the A-Team ones I'm fairly excited for.
Well... Gigantor got taken out.
Not as exciting as the artwork. Oh well, I'll probably buy a full case. I just pre-ordered a full case of the Horror Series 2.
>Mystery Minis: Sci-Fi Series 2
>Our second series of Sci-Fi Mystery Minis
has something for everyone! Are you a fan of crazy robots? Voltron, Gigantor, and The Iron Giant are all here! Enemies from deep space? Alien, Cylons, and Borgs have you covered! Bender from Futurama, The Fifth Element’s Leeloo, Neo and Morpheus from The Matrix, and Star Trek’s Captain Kirk are just a few of the sci-fi pop culture figures that are featured in the series! Which Mystery Mini will you get?!
Well at least they'll be made later. Probably HT Exclusive.
Should I wait until these show up on eBay or should I just go ahead and buy a box? Cause I want all of these.
I bet Gigantor will be a Hot Topic exclusive or something. Just watch.
picked up these minis today. The female lone wanderer, deathclaw, and Pyromaniac are gamestop exclusives.
Still need Mysterious Stranger, Tunnel Snake, and Ghoul...as they were replaced in the gamestop case.
Mach and Hulkster seems to have become hard to find here in NYC. I wonder if they have them at Royal still, but FP and HT seemed to have stopped carrying them. And I've never seen them at TRU even with all the WWE shit they carry.
I got all but the Phantom of the Opera from the Universal line and Count Orlok. I want more classics to come out but more and more want to start getting the modern horrors icons.
Okay, I want that Godzilla and Iron Giant.
Because you don't.
Except Baymax in armor. So far. I prefer the movie lines because they are not bobbleheads, but it is what it is.
Andre, Sting, and the elusive Ric Flair are all up on PopCultcha.com.au. They can take a bit longer and the shipping's slightly higher, coming from Australia, but I've had nothing but positive experiences with them.
>sonic reaction images
>tryhard POP hater
haha oh wow
The reaction face is from a Brit comic.
This is Robotnik you turd-licker.
Funky Poops get off the board, statueshit is not allowed.
I only get the ones I like. I can't figure out people who buy all of them just because they are collecting the entire line, but that's their business. I think some of them look terrible, and others I rather like. The Cthulhu one is my favorite so far.
>the paint application is absolute fucking garbage on all of them
Well, that's the fault of the gifters. Generally these look pretty good, with the odd one that seems to have awful QC no matter what (like the BTAS Harley Quinn and 1966 Catwoman figures), but this is easy to avoid if you pay attention when picking them up.
I love the Cthulhu, but no one in my area has them.
The eyes are still there, they just painted them at an angle to emphasize the Big C's menacing stare.
really hope they eventually come out with a Babymetal set, would buy that shit instantly
Wanting to collect the Fallout set of Pop! figures. Where did you find your BoS Pop!? That one and Vault Boy are the last two I need, and I will be ordering Vault Boy off the Bethsoft site.
What's the green Vault Boy figure? I haven't seen that one before.
I quite enjoy this guy. It was a gift, but I probably would've purchased one for myself either way.
GameStop seems to have the Brotherhood Of Steel figures whenever I go.
>What's the green Vault Boy figure?
>implying metal wasn't a fucking wreck the second those hacks in Metallica became popular
They're a bunch of plagiarists and their music was nothing compared to the men who created the genre. Even back then, MTV was pushing shit.
It's here, anondre! I was right about his still being oversized, despite not being a 6" figure. The one I found looks pretty good, but has some paint flaws on his right shoulder and chest, so I may try to find a better one and exchange it.
For size comparison. (As I mentioned before, I don't display mine in the boxes, but I have them packed up for our move next month.)
oh good, ANOTHER Batman variant
I saw these at my local hot topic today, and they were on hot topics website...not sure if they are sold out yet.
I picked up the hot topic exclusive sherlock and pre-release exclusive moriarty
I would really like one of these, but I aint paying $80 for it
this double. Always check one I go to on instagram to see these 2 semen demons on the left and right for fap material
I usually hate this Hikari, but that, the Vader and some of the Stormtroopers are nice. Not for that price point, but nice.
I'll look at every version of the same pop until I find a good one. Why I don't have Phantom of the Opera yet. Every one I've found looks like it's been beat with a stick.
I think it's mostly the black detailing that looks a little off.
>I'll look at every version of the same pop until I find a good one.
That's what I usually do, but I didn't have that luxury with Andre as he was the only one in the store. It appears that his entire body is black vinyl and they just painted the flesh portions. However, some parts aren't painted as well as the rest and there are grayish black bits showing through. I'm keeping my receipt in case a better one pops up since the store has a 30-day return policy.
Whoah, that looks really cool. The price point really does suck though. I found the Hikari Bossk for about $65 shipped on eBay and did go with that. It's still not a great price, but I do collect Bossk things and I liked the look of him.
They're not tiny at least, but yeah. The price is all about making someone think they're getting a "real collectible" somehow.
When are these coming out? I want catwoman.
i don't collect funko pops last weekend i went to a comic con in mexico and i saw a bunch of marvel heroes and even an x force variant for Deadpool's Chimichanga Truck! and a funko for howard duck
how many marvel funkos are there? im sure there must be a lot of spiderman variants
is there an iron fist funko, or a bucky as captain america variant?, i know the at least have him as winter soilder
>how many marvel funkos are there?
that is one of their biggest lines...including variants, there are probably hundreds. There is not an iron fist, or bucky as captain america.
If you are into Deadpool, a red variant of that truck just got announced for new york comic con
cool, i think im going to start collecting marvel and dc pops
wich are the rarest or hardest to find super heroes funkos? i want to know so i can look for them on my next trip
For Marvel, off the top of my head the rarest one is Loki wearing a gold helmet. It was limited to 480 pieces at SDCC 2012.
For DC, there are too many expensive ones to count. You could drop several thousand dollars and not have everything rare
If you are looking for just regular figures, none of them are too rare. I believe the figures from the first avengers movie are retired and a little hard to find, same with the iron man 2 pops. Hawkman is another one to look out for. It is retired and has an error on the box. My brother found several of them at a six flags recently and made a few hundred dollar profit off them
Primarily, anything DC that isn't Batman-related is impossibly expensive. They've got Martian Manhunter, Shazam!, Green Arrow, Aquaman, Hawkman, Bizarro, and some Flash variants that are all pricey as hell.
Some of the Batman figures from the main DC line were retired too - Batgirl, Penguin, Riddler, and Two-Face. I didn't care for the Penguin or Riddler figures, but hold out hope that they'll do 1966 versions to go with the rest of the Adam West series. Those two are my favorite renditions of both characters.
>some Flash variants
I have four of those Flashes because he's my favorite DC character. I've also got Bizarro.
I wish they'd rerelease some of the others you mentioned. My wife loves Martian Manhunter, while Green Arrow and Captain Marvel are two of my other favorites.
I did that with the Mummy because there was a notch in his head I missed. Found a better one, bought it, and returned the wonky pop. And now I open all the boxes when I look at what I'm buying.
I don't like anything but the Cylon and I don't even like Battlestar Galactica.
Reminder, ask coworker working the show to get me that Cthulhu. I want a Jack bad, but I fucking hate that thing.
This is my favourite. I don't even buy funkos I just got a few as gifts but this one, as soon as I picked it up from the shelf in the store, I had to get it. It's just so big and heavy.
>I want a Jack bad, but I fucking hate that thing.
I think the Pumpkin King one looks pretty cool and I don't even care for The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Do you guys have something like a checklist of pops?
i would like to have a checklist for all the marvel and dc pops
maybe something like pic
Here are lists and pics of every pop.
Here is a checklist with no pics
not my pic. These were found in Albany, New York
why can't funko just make a hulkbuster with a mask that flips open, like an interesting gimick and not just a solid vinyl piece? even clap trap looks like his arms moved but not they just sit there, glued in place
ughhh, they just announced that there will be a chase figure in the Smugglers Bounty box. No ratio was given.
What a fucking scumbag way to drive up sales. Cant wait to see them for a few hundred dollars on ebay
ive been debating whether or not to get it, I just don't want it to something lame like an unmasked variant, if one of the figures was a chrome Captain Phasma, it would be an instant buy for me
there is the whole journey to the force awakens comic line out that takes place after EP6
FYI, Funko has said that there will be shared exclusives for NYCC. This means that most, if not all of the "limited edition" pieces will also be sold in stores like Hot topic, barnes and noble, gamestop, etc... The actual numbered pieces will be harder to obtain.
are you actually implying that the same garbage hasn't always browsed reddit and 4 chan?
>Pop!: Stan Lee - Superhero
i haven't even started to collect pops but i want that stanlee, so bad so i can start my marvel collection
the only thing that could be better for me would be a jack kirby superhero pop
totally going to put Salacious on it
I don't usually hate them for that because I honestly do like the toys... but I do miss the articulation when they make an accessory that pretty much implies that they should be able to sit in it.
oh okay, so you defend the lack of leg joints to allow funkos to sit on the throne? you must really be looking forward to rebuying the entire cast of GOT just so they can all have a chance at sitting on the throne :)
They are releasing Ramsay before Stannis?? WHAT THE FUCK.
The regular one was one of the few Funko Pops I have been tempted on getting. That and blue Nightwing. Yet I've avoided getting any so far because I can't stand how such a cheap simple figure has flooded the market.
I did get that Lootcrate Joker-Batman from a friend as a gift.
>tfw they will never, ever make Classic Doctor Pop aside from the Fourth
>tfw Sarah Jane they'll be releasing in the next series will inevitably be the shitty NuWho version
>tfw you're not as surprised as this as you want to be
That Batman's kinda neat. Mostly, I've just liked the Killer Croc and Joker from the Arkham series so far. I only have Croc so far, since my younger brother picked one up for me as a birthday gift while he was in California.
I've been wanting Nightwing since he was first announced, but every one I've seen has been absolute garbage in respect to quality control.
Don't do this to me, anons. I'm hoping for a second Doctor for myself and K-9 for my daughter.
I would be so happy if they made Troughton. Should just go ahead and make a troughton, zoe, jamie 3 pack.
From what I understand, the rights to get old who stuff are much more complicated
Troughton's been my favorite since I picked up The Five Doctors to get acquainted with the classic Doctors when I first got into Who. Having Jamie and Zoe too would be awesome. I'd even love some of the classic monsters.
poor golden stan
that toy is going to be forever in eBay auctions, no one will ever play with him
he is probably going to end in some japanese museum
apparently there is a rumor that HT is going to re-release Hipster Ariel
Goddamn these things. I got a Howard the Duck and Experiment 626 at Comic Con here in Cleveland earlier this year.
I know there's a few of the Lilo and Stitch ones, but are they easy to get? out of print? I'ver never really paid attention but they seemed neat.
Huh. I guess my wife can pick up a tiny Betty White.
Fuck yes, I'll be picking up the whole set.
My wife and I have been hoping for these for a while because it's one of our daughter's favorite cartoons.
Golden Girl? You mean.... really?
...wait, no, you can't mean.... not THAT, why would THAT get toys? That was an old woman sitcom.
...so much for these getting a revival.
Flair is a Target exclusive, so you are probably best off ordering him from Popcultcha or ebay or something. I have never seen a target exclusive in stores besides the star wars one that was sent everywhere.
I dont think those other two are out yet
>I dont think those other two are out yet
Yeah... I'm really excited for Piper, but beyond a few people posting the back of the box for Andre and Sting online, there's nothing whatsoever about them. It's kinda weird really, to have them on the box but not to have any release information.
Picked up Episode 7 Chewie, Kylo Renn, a Jawa because UTINNI and Andre the Giant today. Wallet hates me, but my shelf I have no room for them on hates me too, so it works out. I really need to put something up for these things.
I'd ant that WM24 robe he wore. Now I have to find a Target that still carries pops? I'm fucked.
>Now I have to find a Target that still carries pops?
PopCultcha, man. It's how I got my Reverse Flash and Blue Lantern Flash, both of which look excellent. It's slightly more since they're shipped from Australia, but you also bypass all of the BS tracking down and/or paying hiked prices for exclusives.
I know most of us collect, but I was curious of any creators are in the thread. I saw one of these D.I.Y. Pops at the mall the other day and was interested.
Anyone here ever made their own custom Pops?
my buddy is into collecting horror movie shit and really wants this funko. i'm glad he's now experiencing the pain of finding exclusives.
American Psycho Vinyl Idolz announced
fucking check em
I'd love a Captain Boomerang POP! if they're doing Suicide Squad merch.
Think they'll do a Patrick Bateman POP! with Hot Topic exclusive nude chainsaw variant?
Two newest additions to my Pop collection
Found Jabba today. Every single one in stock had terrible paint...this one was the least shitty
it was 30 dollars. And you mean like where it was in the store? It was on an end cap of one of the checkout registers. On the complete opposite side of the store from the pops. I almost left without seeing it
I have. Made one for the first girl I have ever loved in her likeness, as she loves these things, and gave it to her for Christmas last year. Spent countless hours moulding her hair, painting and sealing it. Even designed, printed (three times to get it perfect) and cut out a Pop style box for it at great cost.
She said it was, "the best present she's ever had" and preceded to walk out my life. Last I heard she's shacked up with some guy so yeah... Still stings...
Just got my first Funko Pops in the mail today. I've never had any interest in them but I'm really in to the Peanuts right now and was looking for any kind of figures of the characters and to my surprise I found the Funkos as the first result and thought whatever, I'll give them a try as Funkos seem pretty popular (over in the US at least).
Any way, they have arrived.. and things are not good.
1. Utter shit paint jobs. Black paint blotches and weird stains all over them. How these passed quality control I'll never know. Obviously Funko don't give a shit.
2. Woodstock's feet are totally deformed meaning he can't stand up. Useless right out the package.
3. After staring at them long enough, they don't seem to resemble the characters very well at all. In fact, after looking at their huge round black eyes for hours, they've gone from being somewhat cute at a glance to looking downright creepy. Reminds me of aliens.
4. These things are marketed as affordable collectibles, in the US perhaps, but here in the UK the going rate is about £10 each ($16) and are definitely not worth the money at all.
So as you can see I'm very disappointed and can no longer see why anyone would want to collect these as a hobby.
Was I just unlucky and got a bad batch of all six figures or is this just how it is all the time?
I've been extremely lucky with the paint on the ones I've found-- mine are all top-notch-- but I have found a few that are really crappy that I left in the store. I definitely wouldn't buy these online, which sucks because you can find some pretty good deals on them on eBay once in a while..
That reminds me, are there bootlegs of Funko pops in circulation? I collect Nendos and Figuarts and I steer clear of eBay when buying those as ebay listings are 90% bootlegs. I'm seeing some really cheap Funkos, way below retail on there which has me suspicious especially since some are located in China which is always a red flag.
general rule of thumb is that if its from asia, dont order it on ebay. They are most likely scraps(or rejects) that were thrown in dumpsters at the factories. It happens with vinylmations too
Thank you for sharing something we've never heard before.
Oh definately, however no stores where I live (small town in the UK) stock Funkos from what I have seen but even of they did, I doubt they would have Peanuts stuff as I don't believe they are that popular here so online was my only option unfortunately.
If they look really bad, you might be able to exchange them through the site you got them from. Barnes & Noble did that when I bought a Jack Burton that looked awful and just had me return whichever one I didn't want to the store.
>want to get into POP
>none of the places that carry them that I've been to have ever had ones I want
>not willing to risk getting one with shitty paint by ordering online
i also got my first finko pops today, bender and fry from futurama they were on sale at a local videogame snd collectibles store
>Utter shit paint jobs
yeah, my fry has a few painting issues some of the orange paint got into his face the good thing is that his hair is so big tthat it kinda hides it, his jacket should be more red but that's a problem normal color for all the fry funkos
>feet are totally deformed
you must have bad luck because my bender and fry are so stable that they can stand on top of eachother, like in pic
> they've gone from being somewhat cute at a glance to looking downright creepy
i think it must be because pops have no mouths and they must scream, no but seriously, maybe i just need to get used a little bit more to the style
>These things are marketed as affordable collectibles, in the US perhaps, but here in the UK the going rate is about £10 each ($16) and are definitely not worth the money at all.
i have the same problem here in mexico this guys were on sale 150 pesos each, that's a little bit more than 8 dollars for each one, but they usually go for 250 pesos(14 dollars) here
>Utter shit paint jobs
The paint is nearly always sloppy in some area and the line edges are never as crisp as I'd like. I only buy in person and I often have to leave behind characters I'd like to own because of paint and glue issues.
A bit rarer, but characters with particularly small or skinny feet do have more trouble posing, any unsteadiness being made worse by the big head. If it's a matter of the legs being bent, try dunking them in a cup of boiled water to soften up the plastic and let it reform as it cools. If like my Pumpkin King, they have lumps of excess plastic sticking out of the bottom of their foot, you can try cutting/filing it down to make a smoother surface.
I like to collect "scary" characters because it provides more of a contrast between the cute chibi body and the black void eyes, like the Pumpkin King, and the Wendigo from Hannibal. Creatures, monsters and dragons also benefit from this style. Plain cute characters do tend to look a little weird.
In the US, but international distribution kills that quite effectively. Regular ones are $17-20 in Australia, and six inchers are up at the $30-40 mark.
Do you guys focus more on a certain theme or series while looking for pops for your collection?
At first i tought about just buying marvel and dc pops to make it a comic book heroes collection
But after getting fry and bender as my first pops i think i would like to make it a sci fi collection more , now i want to get pops like gir, robocop , Marty Mcfly and Doc Brown
This guy is right. I snagged my two favorite ones at a really cool local comic shop a couple of weeks back. It's nice to see them in person to see the paint quality before buying.
>Funko minis for Heroes of the Storm are becoming discontinued
>Toysrus by me selling for 5 bucks a piece
Fuck I want the whole set. Dont know what Id do with doubles though, ebays flooded with em. Wouldnt even care about turning a profit as long as I make back like 4 of the 5 bucks I spent.
From a marketing perspective I guess theyre doomed to fail. The game doesnt have a big enough following for them to sell.
That being said I love the figures themselves. Barely any paint issues, moldings nice, and the little details they add are great. Tyrael is probably one of my favorite blindbox figures out of anything Ive ever opened.
You can probably fix the paint on Fry's face with one of those Magic Eraser cleaning things. You just have to be careful to only rub it against the area you want paint removed from.
This is my funko collection so far, big MCU fanboy so I've focused on them.
Just got that Grinning Ultron delivered yesterday off of ebay, $20 and easily my favorite funko so far.
What I still need is unmasked winter soldier, the main guardians of the galaxy ones, captain america from avengers and winter soldier movies, main star wars ones (Obi Wan, classic Han Solo, X-Wing and Jedi Lukes, a Leia and R2D2) and the 4 ninja turtles
Then I'll continue to branch out however, cuz these are the only toys i buy
Where FUNKO used to be shit at paint jobs all around now it's just the lines made in time for a movie's release and most convention exclusives that suffer from sloppy paint jobs.
Best to buy that shit in person, but lines that don't have any hyped properties behind them usually aren't rushed as much and are safe to buy online.
What stops them from being cute is a lack of mouth leaving you with those soulless beads for eyes, you should totally customise them to have a mouth because then they'd be spot on.
I've had good luck buying them on amazon. All the ones I see in the stores are way more damaged / have botched paint jobs, might stick to amazon from now on.
The only annoying part, for the ones I've bought online and in stores, is when they head is just off a bit, which you don't see when its in the box.
The new york comic con Jack Skellington and Iron Throne pops were found at some hot topics today. Someones getting fired...they werent supposed to be out till october 8th. If your store was stupid, you might still be able to find it on shelves.
The NYCC kratos and unmasked power armor are going to be at gamestop on the 8th as well
>Where do they usually keep them?
I've seen the regular and 6" POP!s near the front of the stores, where they keep trading cards and other collectible stuff. The Star Wars exclusives have been over in the toy aisles though.
>Batman v Superman
Armored Batman might be cool.
It'll be a fucking bobblehead so who gives a shit
Oh fuck yes.
My bad here you go anon
Are you talking about reddit? I don't even have a reddit. I do go on the funko funatics board though (which is where I took that screenshot)... Im sure most here would say that is as bad or worse but whatever.
seeing how we can be honest here and not scrutinized for opinions I'm just gonna say funko is terrible and their caterring to the bazinga audience is why nerd culture has always been bad, just never as big as it was before, besides WW2 when Cap punched mein furher in the face :^)
>DBZ wave 2
>will l likely have super saiyan vegeta, future trunks, and teen gohan
>Duck Dodgers, Eager Young Space Cadet, Marvin the Martian
whatever, 2 god tier series incoming is good enough news for me, though DBZ is the important one in my mind.
I'm not gonna lie but I feel these pops are starting to take over my family in total my family has about 70 or so pops and it started so innocently also got pretty lucky last night got my self Grinning Ultron and that unmasked Poe Dameron at Walmart last night.
Marvel Collector Corps box theme is Villains.
As long as one of the 2 pops are Red Skull, I'll be happy with the box. Venom is already a Walgreens exclusive so I'd be surprised if it was him. Green Goblin and Morbeus, because of this art, are likely too I guess.
I think the idea is a consistent style that spans a variety of IPs that tie a lot of things into a collection that you normally wouldn't see together. Plus they are cheap and the variety of things they cover make them pretty safe gifts.
