From now til the 14th is 2x points month at the Lego Store. A perfect time to pick up some sets.

Anyone interested in a boxed, unopened Nidhiki, Roodaka or Keetongu?
Boxes are in really good shape
Would be interested in selling or trades, maybe even for a mask collection.
How many threads have we gone through without making our own lightsabers?
Post your most badass sabers.
Already did but will repost
From left to right:
Always thought the mask of creation looked pretty menacing so I tried to make something out of it.
Had to settle with animal legs because it's too tall to be balanced otherwise.
Oh and it has a saw that works with a clamp.
The legs in this pic were still being built, they could hardly support the body.
not sure how it turned out.
Thinking like 60 or $70 plus shipping? No idea how to price them.
Need any new or used 2001, 2002, or 2003 titans, 03 matoran, sidorak. have nearly literally every set after that.
Also looking for sealed 01 Toa, think they're worth roughly the same.
Also interested in 01 kanohi collections.
The messy look was somewhat intended, I tried to make it look like Ekimu mutated and grew into this thing under the influence of the mask, hence keeping some of the golden armor, trans blue torso/ribcage, and a saw(mechanical tool) as its weapon.
So, I tried what most people call "self-MOC" even though I'm entirely sure of what that means
But hey, by all means check it out and rate it
I'd personally change the 2 longs on the sword handle and in the legs to black. I like the red ones in the staff. The rest is great. Other than the fire sword (which can be swapped for black), I think all of that could be made using existing parts. I love the end of that staff.
Thanks, I was looking exactly for that effect, as well with chest, which is mostly filled out
Here's a shot from the back
>I'd personally change the 2 longs on the sword handle and in the legs to black
I left them like that because of my autism to make them like in current set colours, but made an exception when it came to the head, because it would stand TOO much
>Other than the fire sword (which can be swapped for black),
I tried with a black fire sword but it seemed too bland
>I think all of that could be made using existing parts
This was my intention somewhat, as I tried to do this in normal LDD. But then I said fuck it and went back to Extended, since it's a lot easier to use colored parts. But yeah, I think the most most dificuly thing would be the trans-orange glatorian head, which in normal LDD does not appear, but I haven't checked if it exists IRL
Otherwise thank you for the compliments, specially the staff which I also love
So you can stick stuff through it.
I actually think that the additional attachment points make that helmet probably the best one out of all the HF sets.
Now, what I don't understand is why it has that weird chin with its Benny-esque crack.
Got a self-moc too. Not to sure myself what self-moc generally means, but I know what it means for me. When I started to get into Bionicle, I knew that I wanted to have at least one moc to tell a story about. So I took one of my favourite elements, altered the colour scheme a bit (sonics, gunmetal instead of dark grey, also dark blue accents), took my favourite Kanohi and developed a character that has influences of my own rl character.
I know, but I still like it that way
Looks good anon. I like the whole upper body assembly. The thighs and knee joint look kind of flimsy, though, especially since the shins and thighs extend so far forward and then just have the tiny ball joint. Maybe some hoses or something to give the illusion that its a little more solid?
I made a simple 2015 head. If nothing else, it can serve as a base for a more complex one. I'll take a look at the ones from the app game.
It's a pity I know jack shit about textures.
And the ones breaking that colorscheme are still edgy as fuck.
Narrow shoulders roughly the same width as the hips, nothing else really matters.
Ive got a blue Kakama Nuva coming in the mail along with a shitload of parts from bricklink, and Im going to be making a chill male Toa of Water that has a fishing pole as his Toa weapon. I also plan on giving him pink eyes, and much like Toa Gudgye, hes going to be using one of my somewhat heresy necks.
Proportions and shape are pretty good for something as low-poly as that. Shame you couldn't shape a bit of the mouth, but still pretty decent for what it is.
I wish I had motivation to do any 3D bonkle stuff, I have the know-how, but no reason to make anything.
I was really eager to get the Skeletons for all the great pieces to use for my team of villains but I after getting Warrior I realized I don't have much use for them aside from the weapons and the chest armor. The ribcage torso looks too wide for most characters I need to use it for and the new add-on looks weird for the most part. The skull mask I have looks awesome, though I haven't found a use for it yet.
Maybe I should just grab the pieces I need from Bricklink. I definitely need to get Ekimu and Kulta, though.
Working on this Tahu revamp.
My other revamps have a bunch of little features (gali has a tiny drone, serrated dagger, classic hooks on holdout, etc), but I dont really know what little features to give tahu. He's just some swoll guy with swords.
My girlfriend suggested a welders mask. I really want to do that, but I'm having a lot of troubles getting one made. Anybody ever made a welders mask or goggles that could fit over tahu's fatass mask? Even if it's connected to his back or shoulders
Its a bootleg one of these bones. The bal broke off due to its poor structure. It needed to be nail polished to fit though.
Any viable ways of attaching a socket to a 2001-2003 head piece in a good way? simply plugging in a Y socket to the axle hole on the back of the head seems too tall, but I really want a way to do this in order to make CCBS MOC's that utilize G1 kanohi.
Why didn't we get corrupted tahu and gali masks? Is there any explanation in the animatrd shorts? Of the six neo toa, those were two of the best masks. Also, is there any news on mask packs?
I will never stop being amused at the butthurt that caused
also I got to see one of them in person
I wish Kulta wasn't such a throw away villain. He really was a Garland-tier boss.
Ah, Ekimu! What an unexpected surprise. And by unexpected, I mean completely expected! Now I shall stroke my pet skull spider and explain you my evil plans. I, Kulta, will knock you all down!
Who /teamKopaka/ here?
Kopaka is the best.
I'm finally fucking done with collecting 2001 toa with canisters (sadly some missing the outer labels and their posters...).
I think my favorites out of the bunch are Onua and Pohatu. The rest are pretty cool too though.
It's a reboot, but there are a lot of references to the old series, like the Toa names, personalities and designs, the main villain is a character named Makuta, Ekimu concept-wise is a something between Mata Nui and Artakha, there's an event called the Great Cataclysm, and other things.
With the gold kakama equipped I like to use this neon transparent rock to represent a "charged" up one.
It can't turn into a ball. Do you think I'd make TWO design compromises? Weak-minded fool! Muhuhahahaha
Only his arms are still a huge WIP, but I guess he qualifies for a first version.
You should try working on better feet, I think. The MOC overall is good, but the feet (and calves actually) are a bit too long for the rest of the body. Also this foot mold doesn't look good with the rest of the MOC. As said before, though, the shoulder assembly make the MOC look good.
Personally it doesn't appeal to me because I just subjectively don't like system vehicle sets, and this line is basically just castle if everything was a vehicle.
Sadly, almost every Lego set is a vehicle nowadays
When the last wave of G1 came out, I bought myself most of the Skrall sets, the Agori, Fighter, Legend, Tuma. Just wanted to know if i should get the shitty STAR set to finish the skrall squad.
They aren't even particularly well designed.
This one here is basically twenty years of set design evolution flushed down the toilet.
Pretty much every Bionicle playset was shit. They had some decent recolors but were otherwise shit due to how shitty they made the figures and how out of place they were compared to the constraction sets.
8 years later and I am still salty about getting Barraki Deep Sea Patrol instead of Hydraxon for Christmas.
Well, there's this one guy with over 600 in stock.
>I left them like that because of my autism to make them like in current set colours
I do this. I also can't begin to understand folks who get mad about red/grey axles, blue pins, etc. It's a toy, yo.
Once every two months at most.
The 2005 playsets I thought were pretty decent as far as structures go, but the figures for that year were dogshit. 2006 was a step up for figures but the sets were shit. 2007 had TTC as literally the only good one, though I personally dislike vehicle system sets so overall that year was a miss in terms of playsets. I feel like replacing them with vehicles in 2008 was the right idea since those were compatible with the figures, though in a perfect world I would have preffered giant rahi.
I'm trying to make mine right now, actually.
The idea is to make it a semi-accurate dromaeosaur (in terms of the shit that normally gets fucked up in movies; hand position and leg articulation and whatnot).
Input would be appreciated.
>body that was recycled till the end
>horrible, rubbery masks
>oversized weapons that boosted the price, even for the future sets
>beginning of the fragile parts
The titans were okay. Everything else was pretty shit, clone sets with awkwardly wide and flat torsos, it was also the year they dropped gear functions. Plus the Inika masks weren't compatible with any other head piece and the Inika head piece was literally the worst bionicle piece.
2004 had some of the best designed sets, even if the new colors made them really bland. 2001 is a subjective favorite of mine just because of the variety of sets and the fact that it had big monster sets, which I have a softspot for.
>That's a weird way to spell Mahri.
>posts "glass bones' Hahli
Sure showed them, anon.
Yeah, they could breathe underwater.
Through the tubes.
Which, according to Greg, are actually gills, and definitely not breathing equipment, even though that's what they fucking look like and what probably all kids thought they were.
I am done with gold masks. Thanks anon who tipped me off that some people list them as copper by accident. I dodged paying $15 on a gold Hau.
I might finish my set of silver, but not sure yet as I only have 3 of those at the moment.
Contemplating if I wanna buy LoSS or just Bricklink the chestplate. I wanna do a moc with him and Core Hunter parts.
Is it at least worth it as a bag of parts?
The orange Technic beams and couple of new axle pins are cool, but if you're not too hot about the rest, may as well BL it.
[toyspoiler]Also I have the chestplate in my store if you're interested.[/toyspoiler]
LoSS is a great set if you liked 2001. Parts wise you get six glatorian necks which is nice, plus one very useful technic pin/axle piece and varioud technic liftarms / beams. you also get a decent number of black CCBS parts so overall it's just a good buy.
I fucking love 2001, but was never too into the rahi sets much.
Yeah I noticed it comes with a fuck ton of those balljoint pieces you can add on to the bones. I might consider investing it as a bag of parts at least and find some way to integrate the spider legs on to my moc. 50/50 on changing the core hunter head to something else. I even considered a black Miru, but no idea how insanely overpriced those are going for these days.
It would literally kill Bionicle, if Nexo Knights does well it will probably permanently replace Lego Castle, if they made ultrabuilds and they did well, they would have no need for Bionicle and just axe it.
Anon, star wars never got canceled and is the most popular around these threads, even delusional anons boasting grevious around as te bes. Face it, bonkle is old and ded. minecraft 2.0 knights of memehood edition is what kids want, not mystic 90s shit
>no need for Bionicle and just axe it
This bionicle was born with plastic bones and no skin.
Every morning she breaks her leg ball sockets, and every afternoon she breaks her arm ball sockets.
At night, she lies in agony until her broken ball sockets put her to sleep.
What I want to know is why Lego has enough face in Nexo that they will literally launch it from the get-go with a TV show but won't even give Bionicle one a year later when it's shown that it can sell.
>Implying Nexo Knights offers anything more in terms of creativity
They literally just took castle, threw in robots and shit to make it 'cool', and are then going to puke out a show that is literally Ninjago but with mecha knights instead of Mecha Ninjas. Any kid buying these sets isn't going to take them apart and do something creative with them, they are going to buy them because they are things from the show.
it has a cartoon on tv so it'll do better than a webshow that no body watches. plus it has bebop video game chip tunes like minecraft so it will do well, unlike Bionicle. face it, welcome to the new age, children prefer mlg meme internet parodies
Honestly Mr. Shitposter, you are pretty much right, lego lines post-lego movie are really starting to just completely drift apart from classic lego and become this sorta hipster technobabble, what's most frusturating is that this design change is exactly what killed Lego back in the day, but kid's taste has devolved so much that it will be a big hit now.
I, for one, welcome our new Star-Knight overlords.
Lego only needs to keep churning out the same mediocre city sets every year and it keeps afols happy. The only good system sets nowadays are the SW UCS sets, and the modular buildings, but those barely ever come out. I welcomed LotR at first as a nice stand-in for castle, providing a similar type of thing, but then the hobbit movie ruined that by being a setpiece-fest rather than having any well-designed locations, lego had to make the movie-tie in sets which are pretty much all mediocre, and we will probably never see any other LotR licensed sets anymore.
Being a Bonkle fan I know this is a bit of a hypocritical thing to say, but I feel like if the founder of lego saw what it was today, he would feel pretty sick.
First version? Oh boy. It's not pretty.
>People complain about black/grey/silver MOCs
>90% of the pieces released in G1 were black, silver, or grey.
Eh, I'd call it shit but it's not exactly like I've been good at MOCing my entire life.
I mean, it's pretty shit in comparison to what I eventually made.
You see, the rich / irresponsible with money people (who win all the BZPower contests) can buy hundreds of every set, and thus they can make MOC's all the colors of the rainbow. However, sensible people who purchased one of every set are really limited to making something black, silver, or gray if they want it to be big (which it has to be to be considered good by the BZP community). By creating this idea that MOC's of those three colors are instantly and objectively bad, you have guaranteed the same people will win every contest for the forseeable future.
you mean poor shut in christians right? because those are the founding fathers of bzpower.com, check out our daily tweets and hashtags for more bonkle memes your way!
If he had been around at Bionicle's inception things would probably have stayed pretty similar to how they were 2001-2003, perhaps a bit more lighthearted, but it definitely would never have gone the 2006 route, blasters would never have been allowed to be a thing. We also would have gotten almost no 'human enemies' and probably more things along the lines of the Rahi / Bohrok, where you make them friendly rather than killing them.
Honestly wouldn't have been too bad.
>No human enemies
This I dislike. Animal villains are good as minions, but I personally need humanoid and intelligent villains for a story.
[toyspoiler]Unless the main villain happens to be a really smart dragon[/toyspoiler]
Guys, are you sure new bonkle are at NYCC? Cause I've got a baaaad feeling about this...
some guy on /co/ said it was, but all other accounts show that lego is showing just Nexo Knights and nothing else
Listen, I know it's your job and all, but try not to shitpost as a response to questions. When memeing about it is fine and fun, since I hate most aspects of lego nowadays anyway, but in regards to legit questions, it would be nice to keep things fairly serious.
it would be nice for warner to put bionicle in diememesons and the meme movie but nooooo they put ninjago. how much you betting nexo knights is gonna be in the second film and get dimension packs due to their video game references, bazinga!
I literally cannot believe people are eating that shit up, it is the most overpriced cancerous jewing I have ever seen related to lego, not to mention the game itself looks mediocre as fuck as well, like all lego games.
Bionicle is honestly not going to change much really, its sales are fairly good right now. Lego in general you should worry about though, as only these hipster lines seems to sell now.
Thread is going down, post MOCs
(not mine, I just really liked them)
Ah this is my moc ! Thanks for posting it, here is the combined form, based on the actual combat machine.
It's the same sorta design style as things in the Lego movie, and saying that nothing in that movie seemed at all sorta hipster-ish would just be a lie, it was all "lol fight the system gotta meme look how quirky I am", wasn't so bad in the movie itself, but the follow up material just made it awful. The same sorta thing is spilling over into these Nexo Knight things. That video of them saying how lame the old castle line and how cool these robo motorcycle nexo knight things are really just disgusted and saddened me deep down, so you will have to excuse me if I am a little salty.
Just gonna say I like the tank castle.
No, I want goddamn lego castle, my favorite lego system sets are always buildings, specifically castles, I can get the most play value out of them, and the cleanest experience when it comes to taking apart and putting together the sets in new ways. I wasn't too hard on Nexo knights at first, because I figured it was just going to be another new theme like Ninjago vaguely inspired by castle, but after that video its very clear that this is replacing castle from now on, and it will sell, and we will never get castle again.
Do we literally have nothing Bionicle to discuss today? I think there are like 3 anons in this thread today and nothing interesting being said. I might just go try and MOC something whatever.
Tank Castle isnt too bad, I dont like the pieces used for the towers, and its not as good as a solid standard castle, but its fine (I would have preferred if it was a stationary castle with high-tech defenses, but I guess unlike me every single kid likes vehicle sets so whatever). The vehicles that come with it though are so disgustingly badly designed and I would have rathered they put those parts into making the back of the castle a bit less shitty.
that's pretty warhammer
Trying to come up with a torso build that utilizes 5-6 CCBS shells of either 3m or 4m to make a well curved spine. Does anyone have any ideas / tricks to accomplish this or should I just jumble as much technic into the thing as possible until it works out?
Lihkan looks pretty cool, Nidhiki is nice if you look past the heresy, though I have always found built-up pose-able hands always look awkwardly big, nothing anyone can do about that though.
Nice Nidhiki, not a fan of Lhikan's feet, though.
Here is mine, btw.
I got the rit DYE MORE, and the feet had the worst time soaking in the dye after multiple attempts. To make matters worse I think I overheated the gear box so it got a bit distorted and made it VERY HARD to slot in axels. I ended up doing multiple water boilings to make the axels try and fit through the holes.
I should have just spraypainted the damn thing... I might go bricklink replacement parts later.
That's some next level heresy anon, and the fact that you are going to look for more of these limited parts there will never be more of and destroy them forever because of your failed attempt at destroying the one you currently have forever makes things even more scary.
I think I need an adult next time I do this.
Thanks. Hm okay, these are just some of my favourite feet.
You got a cool Lhikan too, especially like the lower arms.
One of those comments in a thread actually made me finally do this after long time thinking about it
Dunno. Depends on the moc imo. This moc makes the mask look feminine, but I've also had mocs that made the mask look masculine (or however you spell that)
He spray painted his.
I should have fucking done that from the start.
Nuhvok had the brownish-bronze-metalic colored Krana.
The lighter ones on the top row.
>old gold never again
>reddish gold never again
>only gaudy neutral gold now
Crisis really hasn't changed much in the time between when I first built him and now.
Basically all that's different are the thighs were reworked to be better looking and sturdier, and his lower legs were clouded properly.
Pretty much everything else is inconsequential.
Updated version for reference and because I'm an attention whore and because I'll take any excuse to post more rahkshi.
Alright cunts. I'm low on cash after splurging on 2001 sets from BL, and my little brother wants a villain for his Toa to fight. Should I get him Skull Basher or Buckley? Or something else all together? Kulta's out because I can't afford him right now.
Pic semi-related, a weird praise I got from some Hungarian.
Well I don't have any spares lying around. I'll have to borrow one of RoodyPoos for a minute instead.
Mmmmm yeah, nah I'm not a fan. Honestly I'ts been white for so long it's hard to see him having anything other than a white head.
Well, yes and no. Initially it was a placeholder because I had lost his original head, then, like I said it grew on me over time. So it's intentional now. It even has a backstory. Kinda.
That definitely an interesting way of looking at it. Realistically though it was just a mistake I never got around to fixing so I started to like it.
Yeah it is basically the only thing that separates him from any of the other generic rahkshi builds out there.
Well, that and the heresyhands
>He shouldn't be holding it by the haft tip. It's the same with Skull Warrior's spear doover.
Sorry I don't follow. I don't own warrior so I'm not sure what you're talking about. Care to elaborate for me?
Think about how silly it looks to swing around your MOC's weapon holding it like he does. He should be holding it like the one in his left hand, closer to the actual business end. This sounds autistic as shit but it just bugged me.
>Think about how silly it looks to swing around your MOC's weapon holding it like he does.
Oh right. Honestly I hadn't thought about it in motion/combat. It was really just for pose sake. Well yeah I guess that makes sense. It would look pretty dumb and be extremely ineffective in combat.
>This sounds autistic as shit but it just bugged me.
It does sound really autistic, but you're not wrong so I guess we can let it slide.
>It's the same with Skull Warrior's spear doover
What's wrong with Skull Warrior's spear?
Not sure if anyone's interested, but this can be done.
Thanks! Actually, I took a photo of a head from the side, drew the wireframe on it and then built it in blender while measuring the irl piece with a ruler. Good thing it's a simple shape. Things that are diagonal in more than two axis are impossible for me. And don't worry about the face. I'll revisit it later. I'm thinking about making it animation-styled so as to support a texture mouth for expressions (kinda like Robot Chicken). But since the head will be covered by a mask anyway, there's no real need.
I'm also thinking about modeling the unreleased head, or something based on it.
On the subject of polies, I try to learn modeling by studying meshes from C&C, Worldshift and Starcraft 2 and I'm pretty confused about what details I should model, texture or ignore. There's also the issue that I don't know what platform I should model for (pc game mod, unity pc game, android app etc) or if what I'm making will even be used by anyone at all.
>I wish I had motivation to do any 3D bonkle stuff, I have the know-howbut no reason to make anything.
I, on the other hand, am monumentally motivated to mess with others. If I had the skill, I'd model a supermodel-shaped Gali and a slutty Korgot with purple crystal (amethyst?) stripper shoes just to see the BZP/FB sjws screech in rage.
I'd also create fake leaks about cancelled G1 games. For example, a MoL-style Metru game that was cancelled because the LoMN movie needed extra funding.
In fact, I have a few assets from various games lying around that could be used to fake a cut level from the original bonkle game.
I'd also use my hypothetical skills to model non-bonkle stuff like the ABC Warriors, or this here goddess.
Don't let the pony spoiler image fool you, even pony haters will like this one. Click "show image anyway". Unless you're at work.
Finally done. Just got a black shooter housing and my Makuta is as complete as he'll be until Onua's trans purple shells and studs roll in next year. And the MoCo, of course.
Does /biog/ build guns? If yes, show them. Also r8 plox.
My Ekimu was revamped to match Makuta more. Notice the black bones. His chest armor and weapons pop more. Plus, I like him with crystal gauntlets.
The little guy in the middle is my personal Tohunga Nuknuk.
Here's the other six. Went for a grey and white Kopeke because fuck using sand blue feet.
Of course the Internet shits the bed as I'm about to post the last one. Anyways, the central cube is the mask makers in all their G2 glory.
So they are indeed meant to look like cloth.
>Uniter Tahu gets golden 'fur' armor
He be stylin, yo.
>im not gonna lose all that extra poseability
You're completely right. You're not gonna lose any posability because the angles are the exact fucking same. Maybe next time actually try they connection I suggested before writing it off completely.
Look I'm not gonna tell you how to play with your toys, I'm just trying to help. But I will tell you that there is a better way to accomplish what you're doing that doesn't involve ruining pieces.
You came to the wrong neighborhood motherfucker
So I picked up Scorpio, Basher, and Slicer today to complete my skull squad. They're okay. Skullpio's tail is cooler than I thought.
I also picked up Vader. Holy fuck, this is what I want out of a 30$ set. I love how Lego steps up their game with CCBS for Star Wars and Bionicle gets shit like Skullpio.
Can't wait to pick up Greivous.
Post more guns. Bonus points if they have a bolt/pump/break or some function.
Why does this remind me of that comic where Ahkmou is trapped on top of the stone tower in Po-Metru
I've always found it disappointing how little the Toa really use their elemental powers. There's no crazy shit like in Avatar or whatever, they only ever use them as weapons and even then it's a backup for their actual weapons. Anyone else feel this way?
I just hope that UtD stays digitigrade, though coming up with a new leg design would also be nice (I built Hunter's and it looks fine, but still would be nice for something a bit better).
Do remember that it looks like every single Uniter + Umarak the Hunter has a custom torso build using technic, with a big new bionicle mold chest pieces put overtop the technic assembly.
>Go to Bargain Hunt
>Box is all fucked up and I expect it to be missing pieces, but $15
>Open it up at home
>Everything is there
He's pretty cool, cape is a nice size and texture and he's very covered up. (Even his back has a shell despite the cape.
My twelve year old cousins birthday is coming up fast. He loves LEGO and I was thinking this year I would get him some of the new Bionicle sets. Which 2 should I get him? I'm also thinking of just getting him Grievious. What do you think?
This only confirms that I'll get Gali/Akida as my second pair.
Onua will be my first, yet again. Not feeling like breaking a tradition this late. He was my first Mata, Nuva, Mistika and Master.
Personally not feeling Onua this time around, maybe the finalized pictures will emphasize the lines a bit better and it will look less like Whenua Metru's mask, but as it stands the mask just looks really bland.
My first two Toa were Tahu and Lewa Mata, and thankfully this time around they are two of the best ones (plus Uxar is my favorite creature so far), so I will probably get those four on my first run to the Lego store (plus Umarak maybe).
Not sure about Gali right now, that asymmetric build looks really awkward, but it could just be the angle.
Goddamn that's literally a perfect fit of the song for the line I haven't heard the full version in so long.
As much as I don't think 2015's theme is bad (overused sure, but not bad), the 2001 theme was just so much more atmospheric, it's metroid prime-tier at many points.
Check how the knees/elbows and the axe and swords are connected.
He also did some sanding down on the Hau, I think. Other small variations that escape my mind at the moment. It's what allowed him to keep the builds so thin.
The hero factory heroes broke into the lego factories in denmarl and sabotoged the plastic vats so that bionicle reign would end, and hero factories reign could begin.
Hero factory is actually Slizer 2.0, they just wanted a reboot, but it was shit because there werent enough discs, so everyone wanted bionicle to come back, but there still arent any discs.
