Have you gotten your Target 2-pack yet?
Anybody here pick up the Disney lightsabers? They're basically Disney's answer to Hasbro's Ultimate FX sabers but they're cheaper and better IMO.
The Luke one actually has the correct sound: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCTjPXxbZAE&feature=youtu.be
Compare to Hasbro's offering: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msa9Gu6i2Fg
Humming seems more accurate and sensitive as well. They also have a cool saberlock feature when you hold two of them together. And if that wasn't enough rubber gripping is actually used on sabers that would have it, unlike Hasbro's all-plastic hilts, even on gripping areas.
I don't know how Disney manages to offer these for 30 bucks when Hasbro's are 40-60 but I'm really impressed. Going back tomorrow to get Yoda and Kylo.
It's (sadly) the most accurate official ROTJ Luke saber you can get at the moment. Beats the Hasbro version and even the Master Replicas/Force FX version has the wrong soundboard. That's criminal for the original MSRP, let alone the absurd amount those things go for now.
Only problem is the Luke sabers are Disneyland exclusive so you'll have to call and order them unless you want to go the park. The Disney store only carries Vader, Yoda, and Kylo. You can order the Vader and Kylo sabers off their website.
Same length as the Ultimate FX sabers. All of the toy sabers have blades of comparable length, around 24 inches. But it's the best you can do without spending 200-500 bucks on a Force FX or custom saber.
Yeah no problem. I got lucky, my sister got the ROTJ version for me at the park. She remembered I needed a replacement after my Ultimate FX version got all banged up. Was not expecting the Disney version to be superior.
I'll probably call and order the ANH/ESB one at some point.
I hate Finn. I don't care if he's a bad motherfucker in the movie. He's a shitty toy and he's pegwarming and wrecking my chance at getting Captain Phasma. Fuck. You. Finn. You are the worst thing to happen to Star Wars since Yarna.
Someone photoshopped the fur on this figure to match the movies and it looked perfect.
It's not bad, they just didn't color the fur on his face right. (But at the hot toys price point you could argue that not doing so was a big mistake)
>I think everyone's mad about JJ making BB-8 a "strong-willed female droid" now.
Jesus christ if I hear someone say this one more time I'm going to blow a fucking gasket.
It's not true. End of story. Anyone with half a brain could tell that. J.J. has, during actual interviews, referred to BB-8 as "he" and any other source says "it". I don't know what to fucking tell you, but if J.J. actually said "he" then this "strong-willed female droid" is literally just a SJW baiting people to watch them blow up.
Seriously. What's wrong with you people falling for this? The person who claimed this didn't even have a source.
If he's in a similar situation to me, his target or whatever is the only one within 20 miles. Not worth driving 20 miles to another target to return a figure in hopes they get more and I might be the one to grab them when they do come in stock. I'll hold out for amazon, as well as christmas coming so places are going to stock up on these figures.
Never saw that in my area period. I have no hope that we'll get the new 2-pack, when they're currently sticking the Marvel 3-pack on an end cap between the girls' toys and the baby toys.
Well fuck me. Wish I knew about the code.
I wound up plugging the DPCI into brickpicker and saw that my Target had 6 in stock and ran over there to get one. When I got there, they had already sold two.
I went ahead and ordered it with the code since I also needed a humidifier they don't sell in stores. They have a $5 off $50 code that ends on 11/8, too: TGTE2RSY
Gonna return this one tomorrow morning, though I did consider keeping it until the discounted one arrives, since the paint on this set is pretty not-derpy.
Finally got two Stormtrooper's to go around Kylo Ren. So I now have enough shit for a Star Wars shelf
Yeah, this trooper had clean lines, whereas the other three had overspray and wonky edges all over the place.
Yep. They seem to be the same across the board for every wave. I spent a day last week calling the stores in my area to verify stock. Now I just check brickpicker ever couple of nights to see if that stock increases. Gotta get past all of these Finns.
Do you guys keep your 3.75" black series figures sealed? I just bought all 3 of the 'new' repacks and I'm not sure if I want to open them. Should I just buy doubles of everything? I'm already displaying my 6 inch black series.
Snowtrooper back in stock on toysrus right now, free shipping too.
I'm happy with just the BS Vader. He could have better arm posability, but otherwise he serves just fine. I like the helmet removal gimmick too. I wouldn't mind upgrading him, but I'm not satisfied with the other versions available at this time.
Lolno, get the MAFEX or Bandai kit, both cheaper than the BS
>Buying Hasbro figures that aren't army builders
I'm just worried that I'm putting it off buying one because it's a sucky figure, and then by the time I see the movie and discover I like the character, the figure is gone from shelves.
Overpaying for a dumpy framed, sad walrus headed Vader cosplayer covered in bed sheets is a no go.
Painted Bandai model kit with custom cloth cape and skirt will give you best Vader.
that doesnt look too bad, where do the original heads come from, or what figure?
Oh shit, didn't even see that. Glad it wasn't sold out by the time I got there. Thanks.
That boosts up my First Order to consist of Ren, a Stormtrooper, a Snowtrooper, and a Riot Control Stormtrooper.
Did they say they would do a Black Series Flametrooper?
If you're going to get him make sure you pre-order the new production run from BigBad, otherwise you're going to pay double from what I've seen on Amazon.
I like this figure a lot more than I thought I would
Found him on the clearance rack for $2.50 because the cardboard backer was missing. Nothing important was missing.
Maul is great, the ankles are fine for me I just have issues sometimes with working the shoulders but that's probably because I haven't worked with many SHF.
Elite Series General Grievous just arrived and he's bigger than I expected. But with the figuarts announced I'm conflicted as to whether I should open him up and enjoy him until the figuarts comes out, or just keep him packaged and sell him off later. As much as I want a Grievous figure now, it doesn't sound like people have been impressed with this one.
>Does he scale well with Black Series figures?
Yes. I like him. No regerts
Got my TRU Snowtrooper officer today. Pretty damn great, really nice to be able to pose him after the issue with the regular FO Stormtrooper.
Only complaint is the backpack doesn't peg in very tightly.
BS Maul isn't a bad figure but unless the hood and other accessories are really important to you you'd have to be really biased not to admit that the figuarts is a better overall figure.
I think you can get one for like 10 bucks on the ebay right now
Choose the best Vader
>Protip: They all suck in one way or another
Is Amazon running a legal scalping ring on Phasma? Sellers are charging 400% of the cost and they all say Fulfillment by Amazon. The second wave should have released by now. I think they have gotten multiple orders in but are relegating them to their best 3rd party sellers as a kickback.
Even with the hard plastic cape, nothing beats the Bandai model imo.
Yes, yes they do. For one reason or another.
I have the SHF and I feel the helmet should be more like the model kit. And it's a manlet. So I agree with >>5265037, the model kit wins this round until we can get a better alternative.
Also the Mafex looks like a bootleg, it doesn't even deserve an honorable mention.
>we have yet to get the perfect Vader
Yeesh, with how many attempts there've been you'd think we would have one but none seem to hold up.
Each of them looks good but they have something off that makes none of them all that great. Most of the time it's the helmet or the cape.
hey senpai this guy on kijiji is down to sell me this AT-AT walker (the bigger 1 with the base) for $10. he said 1 of the guns was damaged so he repaired it.
worth? does it come off the base?
Hey guys, if I want a Captain Phasma figure should I get the Black Series one? It looks servicable but pretty bad. I came here looking for the name of the other company that made one and it looked pretty fucking good. Anyone have the name?
Sorry, im not usually into buying figures
Black Series: Cheap retail. Available now (if you can find it, should be getting easier soon). By all accounts a decent figure.
S.H. Figuarts: Japan, Bandai, more expensive, all pre-orders sold out. Available in February. You'd have to try and find an order second-hand, so the price will escalate quickly.
I think i'll wait for that one and that's what I saw posted some time ago that made me want it. Thanks.
I bought this one just to hold me over I guess, I saw it and it was just eight dollars which is ok enough.
None of the stores I saw had the Black Series one in stock or I would of probably gotten it. OP is Black Series?
Legit the shittiest plastic on a Hasbro figure. Think the worst recent ML like Ant-Man and then worse. His articulation doesn't work very well. The POA are there, but they don't function well enough to actually do anything. The range of motion is hindered and it's just not fun to play with. His legs barely swing forward. Not even 30 degrees. His sculpt looks like a fat stumpy garbage person.
All around no fun. Had a judgment lapse when I saw it but no Phasma and just said fuck it and bought it and absolutely shouldn't have
Received IG88 from anon.
I can see why you dumped him a bit. He is decidedly underwhelming as a 6" Black series toy.
I think he's great. Just have to utilize him well
>he's never played Shadows of the Empire where IG-88 basically moved like a pogo stick
Most of his dynamic movement came from his waist in the game... which he doesn't seem to have in that figure.
Hasbro's IG86 is a similar droid with ball hips and was very faith to the design, but not style (thankfully).
Even just a little bit of splay would have helped.
Not really looking for ninja poseability but something more than "stick" would be nice.
Also the "real one" was on screen for like 30 seconds, maybe. He is a robot, who knows what he can do.
A mix of the Revoltech and Black Series seems like the best choice overall. They're roughly the same scale and they both offer the best sculpts, although the Revoltechs are a little bit too thin, but they are more poseable anyway.
yeah the revos fit in with the black series quite nicely but yeah they're a little thin
>Think the worst recent ML like Ant-Man and then worse
Holy shit, definite pass then.
Ant-Man would be a decent figure if he weren't so frustrating to pose and keep posed.
For everyone that missed the Figuarts, you can rest easy now.
I bought a Luke one and I was really impressed by how bright it is, but goddamn the quality is all over the place, at least from what I've seen. I ordered off of Amazon and the first one I got, the handle was scratched to hell, with little bronze colored scratches, so I exchanged it for a new one. The new one still has small scratches on the handle, but they blend in a bit more with the metal since they're not deep enough to appear red, but the blade is a bit wobbly. I decided to just live with it since I'm primarily just going to mount it on my wall as a decoration.
TLDR: Don't pay 300 dollars in the aftermarket for it because chances are if you have toy OCD like I do, you'll be disappointed.
ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN BUY MY NEWEST WAIFU CAPTAIN PHASMA, THE HOT TOYS ONE, FROM THE SOON TO BE HIT STAR WARS THE FORCE AWAKENS?! I NEED HER FOR MY GROWING SPACE OPERA COLLECTION.
I got Yodas off Amazon for $100 (the black series one) and it has this imperfection on it. I talked support and got a $25 refund so it only cost me $75, so I can't complain too much. Plus it's not like I'm always going to have it on.
I'm going to check Barnes and Noble tomorrow for Luke. These things are fucking cool.
Again, depends on you and what you consider worth it.
I've handled Hot Toys, but I've never owned one though. I'm planning to get the Luke Skywalker as a first though. Just to see if I personally think they're worth it.
I can tell you that some are amazing for the price, and some are not so fresh. The likenesses can be amazing, which now that I think about it, helmeted characters like stormtroopers and Phasma won't be getting face sculpts. Huh. Just depends on what you want out of a figure. They've got pretty good articulation, great head sculpts, and great outfits.
If you really love the character, yes.
Sideshow and Hot Toys are worth it.
Hmmm, what did you say to get the gift card? I might try to shake them down just to make myself feel better. I don't hate the saber, but I feel like if I'm dropping 100+ on something, it better be pretty close to perfect.
Picked up the Black Series Tie Fighter at Target earlier this week,
It's so impractically huge that the play options are pretty limited, you can't really comfortably swoosh it around the house (doesn't stop me from doing it every day though, haha), takes up a ton of space, and yet I can't help but smile whenever I see it chilling in the living room.
The elite pilot figure is also deadly cool, can't wait for the standard pilot single pack release so I can fill both seats in the TIE.
Still need to pick up two standard pilots to flank my Vader. Not sure if I want to go ahead and pick up a Tie fighter, I mainly want the pilot. Might wait for standard release and get two of them.
hey guys, does anyone own the 3/4 storm trooper black series over here?
I saw it on a store today but I didn't recognize his shoulder joint, is he fully articulated?
can anyone snap pics of it?
The 3.75" Black Series Stormtrooper is fully articulated, even including ball jointed hips.
The dancing machine on top and the first trooper on the left with the heavy blaster are both Black Series.
>no red markings
So, no then.
Thinking about getting a few of these and selling the extra pilots/sandtroopers/droids. Just want a few red troopers.
All the exclusives have been a touch ass-rapey in price. Not to mention the sheer amount of exclusives all of a sudden, too. I'm not sure what's going on with Hasbro, but it's not a good thing I don't think.
Just makes me glad I'm no longer a completionist.
What is probably the most proportionally expensive Star Wars toy I've ever bought arrived today: this grey plastic cone!
...for a fully armed and operational Turbo Tank!
I paid 20 bucks for this small part, to put it into perspective I paid only 50 bucks for the Turbo Tank itself. The tank, however, was missing the barrel to the top-center gun and I've been on the look out for one ever since (several years now).
Dang it feels great to finally have a complete Turbo Tank. I wish I hadn't had to spend so much on one part, but all told I still spent well under MSRP for a vehicle that'll probably never be released again, so I'm quite happy!
Haha yeah, not having the part has been bugging me forever. I had been looking at cheap junker Turbo Tanks to pick up to possibly swap parts with, but this part is always missing!
The only issue I have with the Mafex is the shoulder armor, with it being connected to the torso instead of the arms. I guess I could modify it though. They look much more realistic than the Revo, less anime inspired.
>You could of course get the rev bootleg for cheap, they're indistinguishable from one another.
The bootleg rev trooper I got is absolute garbage.
I had to replace every joint in him with standard revo joint right out of the package.
The joints he came with were either too loose pose, or came broken.
I actually sold this thing off after it had been sitting in my closet for the last 4 months or some.
Some KOs are worth the money, the recent figuarts Hulk is a great example. This is not one of them.
How does the MAFEX stormtrooper compare sizewise with SHF Darth vader? How is the figure in general? I avoided the SHF stormtrooper because of all the negativity surrounding it, but my Vader looks naked without Troopers surrounding him.
What's the best 6" Sheev figure?
The Black Series looks ok but at the price it's not worth it.
maybe that's what I was going for..
>we also just revealed the Seventh Sister, and Sabine and New Hope Leia are going to be coming in 6″ size.
What? I knew about Sabine and Leia, but Seventh Sister?
Hey guys just wanted to ask you something.
I'm going to cosplay Darth Vader next month but I'm not prepared yet.I need a lightsaber that lights up from the bottom to the top, has sound and is durable without spending a lot of money.
Dear anons, I tried my best to resist it because I kept telling myself I didn't need to spend the money, but I now know I need a Vader for my SHF Luke to battle. I know all the recent attempts at Vader have their drawbacks, and I myself have narrowed it down to the SHF or Mafex. I've seen the the two SHFs side by side, but can someone with both SHF Luke and Mafex Vader please take a picture of them side by side? It would be very greatly appreciated.
Pic is exactly as related as you want it to be
>is the red trooper worth $100?
No. That's why you need to sell off the others.
Now you know how retail stores feel when only one figure per wave is hot while the others pegwarm for years.
So this 4-pack is basically a wave of figures being sold in a format that forces the customer to buy the whole wave - or nothing.
Just picked this up, I'm a bit disappointed with the articulation and paint job but then again I don't know what I was expecting since it is Black series. I'm considering returning/selling it. Should I return/sell it or keep it? I heard somewhere they were rare for the time being but I doubt it.
He was practically impossible to find at first, but then got easier with the repack and now I think he's rare again. I never saw one new myself, but after the repack my brother grabbed one loose but in perfect condition from a comic shop for twenty and my buddy found his at barnes and noble. I'd imagine there will be a similar window for Phasma where she won't be hard to get for those that want her.
Got the last one at my walmart today, it'll hold me over until feb. someone bought all the poes and guavians later in the day for some reason.
Don't return it, they're selling for 45-50 on ebay.
Yeah, like totally the same
I found a Phasma at wal-mart while picking up some other stuff. They only had 1 so I'm not sure if it was a restock or I just got lucky, could be worth checking next time you're there.
Probably going to keep her sealed for now
Oh, also, how radical are these Guavian Enforcer guys?
For 3.75, this is the best figure of Grievous. Taller than any ROTS rendition, the cape is pretty good, and has little pockets for you to put lightsaber hilts into them. The arms can split four ways, combine again. Trully fucking awesome for a 3.75 inch.
or find some repack of this for cheaper if you can.
Finally, there's also the Pre-Cyborg Grievous, not exactly what you are looking for but he is pretty cool also, worth checking out.
Why did they do cloth for his shirt? I could understand cloth for Palpatine, Kylo & Vader (looks fucking awful on Vader though) but why Luke? You can make that costume in plastic & they've done it often.
Why is it so hard for Hasbro to make a decent Mark Hamill likeness. They took the time to put a damn mole on his hand. I guess it will be a good base for someone to custom a wife-beater Dagobah Luke. If you had to do soft goods, give me a Poncho.
Is Phasma supposed to be goddamn sasquatch huge or something? I was browsing Target and saw those giant-size five-points-of-articulation Star Wars figures and noticed that she was like two inches taller than all the rest.
It's hard to produce a good likeness of anyone.
Most of Hasbro's amazing sculpts even in the 1:18th range are mostly thanks to 3d face scans.
For faces that are seen only in two dimensonal 30 year old photographs and moving pictures, that requires a artist to interpret that into 3d and it's very hard to do. There's literally a ton of failed Luke/20yearoldMarkHamil sculpts out there even from high priced statueshit and dolls, yet i think it's funny that Hasbro has produced the best likenesses thanks to the fact that they've made tens of thousands of sculpts for Luke/youngHamil over the decades
I work at Target so I used my employee discount + red card + toy1 coupon and got it for about $100.
Great thing but I have no space for it, even in the box.
Probably gonna return.
Also the box is so fuckhuge that it inevitably gets damaged just being stocked
Came in today. The box was half open when it got to me, but the product itself was fine. Thanks UPS.
Paint apps look ok except the trooper has a bit smudged off the front. Looks like an easy fix.
>I don't know what I was expecting since it is Black series
Sounds like you just wanted to whine a little bit. There are people that are actually happy to have that figure, but you'd rather complain instead. Good move, shitsteak.
