Trying an experiment:
Were has /trv/ been, as a community? Here is a starter-map. It shows where I've been, List countries I need to add based on where YOU'VE been. I'll update the map every so often.
(I'm doing it at the country level because I do not want to get into "No, that fiddly little unlabeled district in Colombia is two up and one over from the one I was in..." I'll remove "trip planned" and the wish list on the first update -- this is ONLY where we've been.)
Im all down to do this OP but I opt that we use this map. Is it really correct to say that someone has seen the giant fucking blob of earth we call Russia just because they had a day trip to Moscow? There are so many regions so culturally different within the same country.
Post an updated pic and I'll contribute my experiences though, I just don't wanna do it by country alone.
Ive been to over 80 countries and this is pretty on point. Collectively we've surely been everywhere; I'll spoil it now.
Districts though, as tedious as you find them, are a much better representation considering this board is totally devoted to travel.
to much chat + no action.
>18 countries, 21 years old
suggest the next person uses a diff colour to me?
As per your request I used a slightly different shade of purple, although not that much different to keep it uniform looking. Might be a bit sloppy because I didn't study a map too hard, but its close. As far as Afghanistan goes, I am an ex mil guy. I'm a civilian now, and I just do a lot of backpacking around places. I assure you though, that I got a hell of a good tour of those places in Afghanistan. I was a dismounted infantryman, so I pretty much did daily patrols walking around through villages and mountains and shit over 24 months total time in country.
I personally am curious about what countries /trv/ likes the most and which they've visited repeatedly. I was considering making a sort of survey thread, where people can post color-coded maps that show where they live, which countries they've visited, and the number of times (up to, say, 10) they've visited particular places. We could sort of compile a list of "/trv/'s favorite" destinations, overall, and by region.
Cant even begin to express my surprise at the lack of Russia and the lack of mexico. SEA is also sup par. Is it not RealTraveler Certified?
I got a lot of Myanmar and a few other dots and a LOT of rural china (based on the size of the plots) Ill fill it out when I have time
40 of 50 states ( missing alaska, Hawaii, michigan , the dakotas, main, Minnesota, ohio, the Carolinas)
And I am one of the five guys, so you have no ground to stand on. I have no idea what you mean by RT memeing either. /trv/ is a slow board and everyone knows that. This is shitposting on my end as well, as I am not contributing anything, but at least before I was encouraging you to do so rather than laying out a list and expecting others to do something for me. If I offended your delicate ego in some way know it was not my intention, but regardless of your reply this will be my last post on the matter.
added my exploits to the last png map
>jpg is bad for maps
only got to add some of North Mexico, Puerto Plata [DR], Panama City and some Greek Isles
Added everything missing from Belgium (yeeeaaaahhh), a bit of Ireland, a bit of Romania and a bit of Spain.
Its disappointing when i look at my map, it just means i've got a lot of work to do i guess.
I'm a little confused as to what's happening here. As I understood it we were going to list the countries we've been to and OP was going to add them to a /trv/ collective map and it was not intended to do a per-region thing, but some people seem to have run with their own maps, different colours etc and OP hasn't used a tripcode or put in a name to their 'official' map updates (one of the few times tripfagging comes in handy). Maybe I'm just being dense though.
Anyway, if I was right in my assumption and OP is doing a /trv/ collective map here are my contributions for him/her to add:
The Isle of Man (it's actually separate from the UK),
The Central African Republic.
Spain, Morocco and Andorra (lol) are now fully painted
Things to add:
Mexico--Coahuila, San Luis Potosi, Veracruz, Puebla, Mexico, Morelos, Oaxaca
Costa Rica--Everything else
Peru--El Callao, Lima, Ica, Loreto, Cuzco, Arequipa, Madre de Dios, Puno
Brazil--The entire eastern seaboard, plus Brasilia, plus Tocantins
The Bahamas--Nassau, San Salvador
Canada--PEI, Saskatchewan, Manitoba
The subdivisions are political units, there is no implied cultural difference. People here like such maps because it prevent somebody from visiting one city in China and one in Russia and coloring in most of the world. It is somewhat more indicative of where you have actually been.
OP here -- I apologize for my tardiness, I had not expected a thread on /trv/ to move so fast...
Looks like it is well in hand, thank you to everybody who stepped in and took up my slack.
I'll be away from the Machine tomorrow, or I'd offer to take it back. If anything still needs doing when I get back, I'll take back my responsibility for doing it.
I live in Michigan, but spent a good part of my summer in Northern Europe.
I'll go back to Europe sometime next year probably, I just haven't decided where yet.
Ireland/Scotland interests me, as well as southern Germany/Switzerland/Liech/Austria/Northern Italy, as well as northern France/Belgium/Netherlands.
Yooper? I wish. I have extended family up north of Houghton that I like to visit.
Da UP has a monopoly on Michigan's beauty, I love going there. I just hate how long it takes to drive up there; takes like 12 hours to get to Copper Harbor for example.
I'm from the Tri city area.
Added parts in
>Finland, Denmark and Sweden
>Russian North Caucasus (came so close to walking into Ingushetia and South Ossetia for bragging right, dammit)
>Tanzania and Kenya
and completed the Netherlands.
I'm just some anon adding personal contributions, hadn't seen noticed Kandahar and Zabul weren't on there yet.
But meh, added.
I listed some stuff earlier, didn't realize we were to edit the pic. Muh bad.

i wish i could travel with you guys all over europe and japan and shit.
damn, what's your job?
Added some missing parts of Mexico and Belize.
No job, this was when I was from 12-16 years old. Teen Missions International was founded in my grandpa's backyard. So we would have missionaries come and go staying at our place, so of course I was able to go on some mission trips. laying electric lines in Iceland for a huge woodstock-esque concert, building a garden for AIDS orphans in South Africa, and building a Russian "banya" (similar to a sauna) in Siberia. Then I was able to go on the Trans-Siberian railroad all the way to Beijing through Mongolia.
For the other places, both my parents were in the military so we lived all over the US and in Germany. While in Germany we traveled around Europe. I haven't traveled since I was 16 though :(
Here is the map updated. I've travelled extensively over the UK so can add many of the islands too.
Updated with some China, Philippines, Greece, Sweden, Norway and Denmark
Updated. Suriname for the win. Also, South East Asia was a bitch.
>>Some of SE Asian
>>More of China

Added Jiangsu on china,
added Toyama ,ishikawa, and fukui as well osaka on Japan
added Jakarta and Yogyakarta on Indonesia
I was surprised that I was the first person to fill in most of Kenya and the Gambia, both are pretty much the go to places for holidays in Sub-Saharan Africa (although Kenya has taken a knock since the terrorist attacks, but that is very recent).
Forgot to fill out a couple of regions in Namibia and Tanzania. Assumed the other Namibia anon had been to Etosha which he hasn't so I forgot to actually double check.
Added a few minor places
Sapa (vn), Aosta (it), and some place in Austria and one on the boarder of Thailand and Laos (cant remember their names).
Was surprised nobody had been to Sapa.
I have been to Sapa actually, but forgot to add it.
Added Galapagos and a bit in Ecuador -- otherwise you guys seem to have been everywhere I've been!
Been too lazy to do this so far, but seeing France not finished for so long was starting to annoy me. Added Pays de Loire, Poitou-Charentes and Corse.
