>"it's not possible."
i actually liked interstellar. we need more hard science fiction movies. visuals were great. story was good. i fucking hated the "love" dialogue. truly cringeworthy but theres not too much of it.
Eyes Wide Shut
Full Metal Jacket
Paths of Glory
A Clockwork Orange
2001: A Space Odyssey
Day of the Fight
Fear and Desire

>From the moment we arrived on Bajor, it was clear that we were the superior race. But they couldn't accept that. They wanted to be treated as equals when they most certainly were not. Militarily, technologically, culturally, we were almost a century ahead of them in every way. We did not choose to be the superior race. Fate handed us our role.

>I didn't go to film school, I went to films
>production cost under $10 million
>didn't even make $200k at the box office
It wasn't the best film I ever saw but how the fuck did it flop so bad?
That cost $10m to make? Holy shit.
Also it was released digitally over a month before getting a theatrical release. I can't imagine it had too many screens playing it when it was released.
The latest paranormal activity had the same problem, it had its theatrical release around the same time as its digital release and there's been an argument that the digital release killed its box office.
Why is it so good? I should be bored. Every scene really captures the time period. Some BS side-plots but the rest is GOAT. Those surgical scenes, man.
i'm looking for smart well-done movies about interesting "real-life"y topics and scripts that don't condescend. I'd prefer if they weren't crime movies and would prefer if they were more on the drama side of things than being driven by action. I'd prefer if they were more realistic than artsy, but that's not so important
Pic related is what I'm talking about (and is Mad FUcking underrated on here)
Some others would be
Glengarry Glen Ross (and other Mamets like Spartan and Heist)
and so on
my best friend's dad is in it. he's the one who calls Clooney out when he's at the defense meeting early on. the guy who the camera pans to when he says "CLI. Committee to liberate Iran"
