>NBC suspends Nightly anchor Brian Williams for 6 months effective immediately, without pay
Correction. He was sentenced to that planet /dimension where General Zod and those other bad dudes from Krypton went and then Superman had to fight them in Superman 2. Brian Williams and General Zod will return in the next superman.
>tfw you get suspended from work for 6 months
>...right after you JUST signed a contract guaranteeing you $10 million
someone explain exactly who is pissed off here? So he slightly changed his personal story when he told it on 50 different talk shows, and pissed off who? Who the fuck even watches him at all? How does his personal account of some shit have any impact on him reading a teleprompter?
Shame they don't give out these kind of suspensions in professional sports unless you fucking kill a man or are Pete Rose.
Good thing I canceled my cable like a year ago or this story might directly affect me.
NBC Sports will probably re-hire him to host NBCSN's NASCAR show unless he's been suspended from the entire network and not just the Nightly News.
Honestly, I'd rather he just become a racing guy instead of a political guy. I want to like him because of how big of a race fan he is but I detest all mainstream news people by principle.
I think he's still getting the money actually. I googled it and I can't find any article that says he wouldn't, and if he signed a 5 year contract NBC would have to honor it or buy their way out. Either way dude's still getting paid.
my internal antenna picks up like 2 stations no where near me. Sometimes they show old bad 1970s movies or jerry Springer. I occasionally watch just to remember what commercials were like. There's no reason for me to go out and buy an external one, rabbit ears of 2015 just to get the basic 3 stations.
>NBC News suspended Brian Williams ,the most-watched evening-news anchor in the United States from his duties as chief anchor and managing editor of “NBC Nightly News” for six months without pay in the wake of a scandal over misleading statements he made about his time covering the Iraq war in 2003.
You didn't try very hard
>A BLOO BLOO BLOO MILLIONAIRE PRIVELEDGED WHITE GUY GETS TO GO ON VACATION FOR 6 MONTHS AND PAY SOME DUDE TO GHOST WRITE A BOOK AND MAKE MILLIONS OFF IT
>We have decided today to suspend Brian Williams as Managing Editor and Anchor of NBC Nightly News for six months. The suspension will be without pay and is effective immediately. We let Brian know of our decision earlier today. Lester Holt will continue to substitute Anchor the NBC Nightly News.
>Our review, which is being led by Richard Esposito working closely with NBCUniversal General Counsel Kim Harris, is ongoing, but I think it is important to take you through our thought process in coming to this decision.
>While on Nightly News on Friday, January 30, 2015, Brian misrepresented events which occurred while he was covering the Iraq War in 2003. It then became clear that on other occasions Brian had done the same while telling that story in other venues. This was wrong and completely inappropriate for someone in Brian’s position.
>In addition, we have concerns about comments that occurred outside NBC News while Brian was talking about his experiences in the field.
>As Managing Editor and Anchor of Nightly News, Brian has a responsibility to be truthful and to uphold the high standards of the news division at all times.
>Steve Burke, Pat Fili and I came to this decision together. We felt it would have been wrong to disregard the good work Brian has done and the special relationship he has forged with our viewers over 22 years. Millions of Americans have turned to him every day, and he has been an important and well-respected part of our organization.
>As I’m sure you understand, this was a very hard decision. Certainly there will be those who disagree. But we believe this suspension is the appropriate and proportionate action.
>This has been a difficult time. But NBC News is bigger than this moment. You work so hard and dedicate yourselves each and every day to the important work of bringing trusted, credible news to our audience. Because of you, your loyalty, your dedication, NBC News is an organization we can – and should – all be proud of. We will get through this together.
>Steve Burke asked me to share the following message.
>“This has been a painful period for all concerned and we appreciate your patience while we gathered the available facts. By his actions, Brian has jeopardized the trust millions of Americans place in NBC News. His actions are inexcusable and this suspension is severe and appropriate. Brian’s life’s work is delivering the news. I know Brian loves his country, NBC News and his colleagues. He deserves a second chance and we are rooting for him. Brian has shared his deep remorse with me and he is committed to winning back everyone’s trust.”
Well shit. I guess you're right.
Maybe there's something in his contract about upholding the integrity of the position or something, because I can't figure out how they can legally not pay him if they both agreed to that salary in writing.
he's been caught in a lie about his time reporting during the Iraq War.
He said his helicopter was shot /hit with an RPG when that never happened according to people who were there.
There is a pretty big difference between a helicopter that was flying near your helicopter making an emergency landing and the helicopter you were in being shot down
There were other people in both helicopters, it was even more of a personal story for the soldiers, especially those in the copter that actually got shot, and Brian's just stole it for a pathetic PR stunt.
>and pissed off who?
The soldiers who called him out for stealing their story
His viewers who don't want a bullshit artist for a journalist/newscaster
>Who the fuck even watches him at all?
He is probably the most popular newsman
He lied about New Orleans too.
He's a mythomaniac.
I like his daughter though
>Just about every MAJOR problem gaming has can be traced to it being dominated by a patriarchal outlook
I don't really see how buggy pieces of shit, with overpriced cut content or shit like Nintendo releasing the same game every year is related in anyway to gender.
Literally every guest on any late night show tells made up stories. They're all written and rehearsed beforehand. Famous people's lives aren't that interesting and the shows don't trust any of them to make stuff up on the spot and they don't like casual conversation.
>Le being afraid of strong feminune features meme
>an expose on the liberal agenda slowly eroding the freedom in the My Little Pony universe
>first my daughter gets her ass eaten out and now this....
the implication is also that the people running security for the chopper convoy weren't doing their jobs. Theyre expected to sweep ahead to check for possible attacks. I'd be really pissed about that too.
Keep yo head up homey it is all uphill from here!
Now this is what kills me about this whole thing. These people bringing down the hammer, they were complicit. Surely, they knew that Brian had extrapolated the story, as it is their business to know. It isn't as if Williams gets to say whatever the fuck he wants on the air without something fact checking it or okaying it.
Quite the opposite. Brian Williams is an anchorman, an attractive guy that serves as the face of the news organization. It was that organization, not Williams, not ultimately told the lie.
Knowing that the public is largely too stupid to comprehend this, you have the network throwing the one positive association to NBC under the bus, all for one exaggeration that counts as chickenshit when compared to the garbage cable news dishes out on a regular basis
How the fuck are upper level execs at a news org going to know the exact details of what one of their reporters claimed occurred halfway around the world in a war zone?
It's possible others in the org knew it was bullshit, but most likely management had no idea
Because the MSM doesn't want shit like pic related to happen again.
HE DIDN'T EVEN FUCKING DO ANYTHING WRONG HOLY SHIT. Brian Williams is an honest person, maybe I can't see that he would lie, but why would he? He knew he would get caught, I think he honestly messed up the details due to the traumatic circumstance of it all.
>one of their reporters
It's fucking Brian Williams, not joe schmo picking up the beat at the Iowa Straw Poll. Everything that is broadcast is reviewed at the executive level, and if you don't think word wouldn't have gotten to them that either a) their Anchor almost got BTFO over the skies of Iraq or b) their anchor claimed that happened when it didn't, you don't know shit about shit
>Chris Kyle lies about killing 300 Muslims, shooting looters from the superdome, and knocking out Jesse Ventura with one punch
>Brian Williams gets a personal story mixed up which in no way affected anybody
>loses his career and reputation
We have a new update to OP's post.
It turns out
the whole thing was made up
They say "without pay", but I am not sure if the contract is binding.
I just realized I have no idea what "binding" means in this instance.
tripfags somehow manage to get worse each year
Why do you think they're ragging on him so hard? It's payback for calling out Kyle.
We're all bystanders in a shit-flinging culture war between rich republicans and rich democrats.
>the entire mainstream media lies every single day
>crucify Brian Williams for a lie told 10 years ago, in attempt to make the industry appear honest and self-regulatory
Does nobody else see what's going on here? I'm all for outing Brian Williams, but just imagine if the media was as honest, critical, and investigative about the Iraq War itself, as they are now to Brian Williams' journalism of it.
>being too stupid to tell the difference between a soldier whose only career responsibility is to follow orders from a commanding officer and a national tv journalist whose duties include informing the public of the truth
It's like you attempted logic but you're a five year old
>implying fedora neckbeards are limited to one political spectrum
The only thing that's consistent about them is that they're usually to the far side of things. So they're either an SJW or a /pol/tard.
The US MSM was mostly on board with the Iraq conflict until the insurgency started to really kick in. Then it was nightly death counts, Cindy Sheehan 24-7 and the overwhelming majority of the coverage was negative to the administration and the US in general. MSM stories about the horrors going on were pretty much limited to alleged and actual atrocities committed by the coalition forces.
FOX news and a handful of local stations being the exception to that.
On a side note Cindy Sheehan has long since fell out of favor with the MSM since she began criticizing Obama and the nightly death counts went away when Obama took office.
Fuck the mainstream media.
“There is no doubt that the press failed to scrutinize this program [ObamaCare] at the time of passage and during the context of the President’s re-election. I think any reporter who would argue otherwise would be putting their head in the sand.”
— Time/MSNBC political analyst Mark Halperin
“So many [reporters and editors] share a kind of political and cultural progressivism — for lack of a better term — that this worldview virtually bleeds through the fabric of the Times. As a result, developments like the Occupy movement and gay marriage seem almost to erupt in the Times, overloved and undermanaged, more like causes than news subjects.”
— Outgoing public editor Arthur Brisbane in his final New York Times column, August 26, 2012.
“Are reporters biased? There is no doubt that — I’ve worked at the Wall Street Journal, the Washington Post, and worked here at Politico. If I had to guess, if you put all of the reporters that I’ve ever worked with on truth serum, most of them vote Democratic.”
— Politico's Jim VandeHei during C-SPAN's coverage of the GOP primaries, March 13, 2012.
Btw, I live in New Orleans, and if you told anyone around here that you were in the French Quarter and saw a dead body float by your hotel they'd know you're lying instantly. That was one of the few places that didn't flood at all.
The guy's a chronic liar.
Does this mean Chris Hansen will take over?
He has the voice.
In fact it's basically the same as Williams.
Im not sure exactly what you're trying to say, but that doesn't change the fact that the vast majority of our media is leftwing.
and property rights are one of the most important rights there is.
But he was just suffering from false memory syndrome
Not when they shit all over basic human dignity. Corporations being "people" and basically owning the government and fucking up the environment and filling public space with offensive ads that they should frankly be paying people to endure and databasing everyone's personal data to use it against them by manipulating them into buying shit they don't need or is bad for them.
>filling public space with offensive ads
>manipulating them into buying shit they don't need or is bad for them.
>I take zero responsibility for my own actions
eat shit and die cuck
nope. just saying you should take responsibility for your own actions. nobody is forcing you to buy useless shit.
and corporations or companies can't hurt me with the govt.
its easy for the population to put a company out of business without the govt backing it up.
He should hook up with Hillary. They'd be under constant sniper fire while looking down the tubes of various RPGs.
Who mentioned that even being remotely true besides the post I was responding to? Let me spell it out for you. Kyle was a soldier whose responsibility in his career was to follow commanding orders, and wrote in his autobiography (should give anyone with a brain a red flag for possibility of bullshit) about the looting which was not made into publicly and nationally broadcasted news spread to the public under the guise of truth, while Williams did just that, when it's his duty as a journalist not to do that.
2 different careers. 2 different ethical limitations and duties. It's not rocket science, unless you're just a butthurt shitheel who is just angry at someone who a lot of Americans have pride for.
How old is Bob? He looks around in his 30s but that photo in the toy store on the top left makes him look in his late 40s to early 50s.
It's still all too pathetic to be dressing up as ninjas and DBZ characters alone for your epic storyline no one but you cares about.
wow, national news lies to it's viewers. absolutely astounding news
>the high standards of the news division
All the lies told about Iraq and this is the one he or anyone else gets in trouble for.
Seriously why her chin looks so distracting?
