Best new IP this year without a female protag or option?

I have $15 sitting in my Microsoft account which is just enough to buy Spelunky for the Xbox One, since they just made the 360 version backwards compatible. I'm HUGE into The Binding of Isaac and games like FTL, SMB, Don't Starve, Nuclear Throne (to a lesser extent), shit like that. Is this the kind of game for me? What are your experiences with it and thoughts on it?
And if any other Xbonefags have any other recommendations for what to spend my $15 on I'm all ears, I'm just really high and looking for a new game to fuck around with...

Let me tell you anon I have had one he'll of a lot of fun with this game. I have over fifty hours into it and have only had a handful of "full" runs. There is a lot of difficulty but a lot of fun and challenge to be had. If you likes Isaac I think you'll enjoy this game.
Spelunky admittedly has a lot less to unlock than Isaac, but there's still plenty of content, and the game is trickier.
It's roguelike nature also feels more fair, in a sense. There are runs in Isaac where you are just flatout fucked, but if you're gud enough in Spelunky, you can beat the game with the basic loadout.
The items all don't play off one another entirely, but they can still synergize too.
It's got a lot of little hidden things, and getting the true ending is fucking hard.
I totally get what you mean about fair vs unfair RNG, I kind of hate that about Isaac but like the idea of having to adapt to your current run.
I'm watching NL's introduction to Spelunky and it definitely seems a little more skill based and a little less reliant on items, which is definitely a big draw
I'm also checking out Rogue Legacy now too, that shit also looks appealing. Damn

What are the best main towns/hubs/bases?
I think in the From games Hunters Dream is the comfiest. It feels the most safe.
I quite liked the Bastion, the NPCs and music were great
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
Does anybody have the original comic to this video game image?
Almost smart guy
What about this one?
What's the /v/erdict
It's alright. I finished it, but thought the story was pretty bad, and badly produced. Combat felt like FFXIV before its revision. Maybe it'll get better after I do the end game stuff, but I just don't feel like grinding for the Ares anymore.
My game of the year personally. It's fairly different from Xenoblade Chronicles though.
A LOT of the story is in Affinity quests. The main story cinematics aren't the main focus, rather the exploration and combat are.
ITT: Post your GOTY for each of the following years:
I CAN'T WAIT TO BOMB SOME DODONGOS
recommend me some fun games where i can just kick back in my chair and only use my mouse. nothing casual please.
just mouse, no keyboard. something deep.
only things that come to mind are endless dungeon or mini metro.
What if I just jumped into Witcher 3? Right fucking now?
Why is that a good/bad idea?
I feel like I'm missing out on something big this year and I won't have access to my computer that can run Witcher 1 until after Christmas. And by then I might not feel like playing a fantasy WRPG anymore ...

I liked Disgaea 1 and 2 on PS2 (prefered 2), and Disgaea 1 and 2 remakes on the PSP (preferred 2, again. I like my healers getting experience from healing)
Now there's, what? 4 more games? Disgaea 3, 4, D2 and 5?
Which one next?
i played 1/2 twice and just now ordered a ps3 to play 3/4
kinda fucked that 5 is a ps4 exclusive and NIS said they didn't have plans to port it to vita at least.
i'm pretty sure d2 takes place right after the first
Go with 3 since it'll be hard to go back to it if you do 4 firs. Also if its the vita version you are playing you can get some new characters in 4 if you have 3's save data on your card.
FFXII has been one of my favorite games ever since I played it back in like, 2008-2009. I thought the plot was super interesting and easy to follow.
Now I'm finishing my last year of college with a History degree. I've realized that part of why I liked the game so much is it was exactly up the political intrigue/historical story-archetype that my brain is good at understanding.
gameplay, art , and characters set aside for the moment, of course.
Have you ever gone back and looked at a game you loved, and realized why you loved it? Or how it impacted your life?
usually i know why i like a game while im fucking playing it
cant say im surprised a person who likes jrpgs is actually stupid enough to so stupid it took them 7 years to figure out why they liked a game tho
it's one of my favorite games, I love playing it, I know why I like it. I'm talking looking back on the way you enjoyed something and re-evaluating it as an adult. Are you too stupid or immature to understand what I mean by that?
