Am I the only one who finds this game extremely frustrating?
No. It is extremely frustrating. Picture city stages in particular gave me a lot of headaches back in the day. I still think that it's one of the best platformers ever though. The music in particular is great.
>tfw not being able to run til later in the game
>all those levels you can't 100% right away because you need to get other abilities first
Still a fun game, but this always bothers me.
replaying it honestly felt like I was playing one of those recent frustration platformers like I want to be the Guy, spikes and enimies can show up out of nowhere for no reason and completely fuck you over, I dont think I'd ever be bothered beating it with infinite continues, let alone with only like 10
Which one's your favorite or have you beaten? I've beaten them all except for Legends and yes, I beat the first 3 when I was a kid though Rayman 1 took a few years to get back to and complete.
>Get as far as The Iron Hill or whatever the second or third last level is
>Never beat it
>Can never get the lum cage from the magma mask area either (the room where you're on the plum going on a downward hill of lava and at the end if you look up at the fucking huge ceiling theres a cage)
Rayman - Played, gave up, it was a bad version of the game with almost no music
Rayman 2 - Played, had to stop when my computer refused to load the game anymore randomly
Rayman 3 - Beaten, good fun, awful final boss tho
Rayman Origins - Beaten, best Rayman game, but not much of an origin story
Rayman Legends - Beaten, good fun, but a little easy, most polished game by far
I always hear people complain about the Scorpion, but I honestly had more trouble with this fucking bitch, took me forever to get past the bit where you have to break the washing machine
Rayman and Total Drivin' (Grand Tour Racing '98 in the US) were the first two PSone games I owned back in 1998. I never completed it and it ended up being borrowed by a friend who moved to another part of the country.
I have a Vita now and I'm thinking of getting either Origins or the original Rayman to play on a flight, which would /v/ recommend? Rayman is a lot cheaper than Origins.
>Rayman Origins - Beaten, best Rayman game, but not much of an origin story
>Rayman Legends - Beaten, good fun, but a little easy, most polished game by far
I 100%'d both as I went, including the throwback levels in Legends.
Took me 16 and 10 hours respectively
I think they simplified the levels somehow in the second one
Am I the only one that had Rayman for the PC?
Origins is a lot better, Rayman only really holds up so well thanks to nostalgia. Also, you actually have a chance of completing Origins and not getting completely stuck the whole journey on some bullshit part.
I never beat this game as a kid but I got very far.
Last year I downloaded it again for the first time in forever and I wondered how in the hell I did that as a kid... I got stuck in the second world. :|
Grannie's World Tour : 8-Bit version
Did you complete it?
the levels in rayman jump around difficulty wise.
you'll get an impossible level and then suddenly a pre-school babby tier level.
honestly my only real complaint is that moving platforms can become desynced, making platforming retarded.
I can't imagine what you mean, OP.
He never beat any boss. Razorbeard also flees in his mini space pod after beating him and Andre flees as well. Too bad we'll never see them unite against Rayman in Rayman 4...
Rayman: Strangely enough, first time I played it was on the GBA. Never got to the ice cream chateau level since I'd run out of continues. Only one I haven't finished completely.
Rayman 2: First Rayman game, I think the Robot Pirates are the best enemies out of the Rayman games, they fit so well, coming off as this foreign threat. Beat the game with all the lums, I loved it.
Rayman 3: Good too, don't like the hoodlums as much as the robot pirates, a lot more light-hearted and colorful.
Rayman Origins: Was pretty good, fun little 2D platformer and had
THICK NYMPH THIGHS.
Rayman Legends: Better than Origins in every way.
BUT THERE WERE NO NYMPHS, ONLY BARBARA AND BARBARA IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR DELICIOUS NYMPHS
>that one cricket that has godly dodging and movement speed
I would go to this level just to listen to this.
>all those jumps that required totally blind luck the first time you do them
Once you died enough times and knew where to fall, it wasn't too bad but the first time through a level always felt like a clusterfuck
Played all except Rayman 3.
1 is the best with one of the best soundtracks in gaming history, 2 was fun, Origins and Legends are ok but i just can't get into them, i don't like the artstyle, there's something papery about it, like playing some cheap indie platformer. Except the nymphs from Origins of course.
