Started playing Sacred Stones after 6 and 7. Started hard mode for my first playthrough and I'm getting my shit wrecked. How do I git gud without grinding or using meatshield Seth?
Also, which route should I take first? Ephraim or Eirika?
Speaking of magic girls, why is Tharja best witch?
Gotta use tactics, bro. Seth is good but you gotta let the others grow. Don't be afraid to use the Tower for extra leveling if you need to. It's your first playthrough, not gonna be easy.
Also, Ephraim's route is better. If you want more advice, tell me what chapter you are struggling with.
IIRC Ephraim's route is marginally easier
You shouldn't be using Seth that much. In most playthroughs he rarely sees any combat at all for me.
What chapter are you at? What are your units like? Lvls/exp/etc.
If you are having trouble with SS at all then you have severely fucked up somewhere.
Post a pic if you are emulating or else tell me what units you have right now and what their levels are in addition to your level. I need to figure out how you fucked up so hard.
Amelia's only problem is that she comes in on the only difficult map in the game(on Eirika route) and that she's difficult to get rolling.
Unlike other units like her, she has plenty of time to get rolling.
Fuck off. You people who complain about waifus are the fucking worst.
with that much effort any character can get stats like that.
On average her stats are only marginally better than other units that require less time, exp and weapons to be leveled up, she isn't even close to being worth the trouble, unless of course you can't help but training the qt 3.14 instead of the manly men.
eirika route has better stuff iirc
also ephraim route has
3 mages with berserker stavesholy shit dont do this to yourself.
Oh and it's much boring, but eph is p cool, too bad these 2 lords don't get any other weapon class to use when they promote
You are actually retarded nigga
She, Ross, and Ewan are the only units that get two upgrades. OBJECTIVELY her stats will end up higher nearly across the board. She is more than worth the trouble as arguably the second best unit in the game next to Ross.
You are retarded and I don't believe you have ever even played the game.
don't use any of the chavs except for amelia
tana is better than vanessa but vanessa is good and early too
gilliam is a fucking breast
gerik is great, so is joshua. he's better than marisa but only marginally so
and natasha > moulder, but the rachel is the best healer
>not making neimi into SS version of this
>using snipers when everything has 100% accuracy
It's either her or Gerik, and he wants those fucking axes. Besides, Innes is a good enough Sniper.
>there are people who don't have at least one of every fully promoted class by the end of SS.
Amelia only has better skill, speed and luck
hardly worth the lower HP, STR and DEF on a fucking general.
Wait, you've beaten 6 and put up with its shitty growth rates and mostly garbage-tier prepromos, but you're having problems with one of the easiest games in the series?
> don't use the trainees
Nigga what? Every play through I do, Ross ends up one of my 3 best units and Amelia wrecks shit as well. I've never really used Ewan because of how late he joins, but I'm sure he's got some use as well. Trainees may start as absolute shit, but once they reach their final class (which doesn't take very long) they're monsters.
Are you ACTUALLY telling me that having shitty speed on a Knight/General is acceptable? Gilliam will never double attack EVER. He won't take damage, but he can't dish it nearly as well as Amelia can. They are in entirely different leagues.
Awakening is my first FE and i've put in over 120 hours into it and no signs of slowing down, though i'm hungry for more FE and am super curious to check out the other games. is Sacred Stones a good one to try next?
The hell is wrong with you people? How can you deny the goddess of war that is Amelia?
I've played through this game several times. Amelia has maxed out almost all of her stats every single time. All of the "recruit" units end up amazing.
If you beat 6 and 7 you should have no issues with Sacred Stones. Sacred Stones is the easiest. Just grind a little bit so you stop getting butt reamed. Make sure to level up the bby class person with the spear into a knight. That is the greatest late game tank in the game. Stats are beyond broken.
Also do Ephraim. I did Eirika and I highly regret it. She is so dumb.
Not only will Amelia tank better, but she will deal more damage too. Gilliam's shitty speed is literally crippling, I don't see how you can ever recommend him over Amelia.
>MFW playing Ghost Ship on Hard mode with a no Tower/Seth run.
when i play sacred stones all i use is seth and dragon girl 99.9% of the game
>mfw how easy it is
You see, that's the problem with Ameliafags, as soon as you bring up actual facts they panic! they start saying "muh anecdotal evidence! she turned out fine to me!" completely disregarding growth rates, availability, resources needed, average stats, etc
I mean it's fine if you want to use her, I use her too, but she's OBJECTIVELY, FACTUALLY, LITERALLY inferior to Gilliam
Keep throwing out those buzzwords, anon.
I'm not just talking about Amelia either. Notice I said all of the recruit units. You're right, they do take more effort to level up. But the investment is totally worth it because all three of them end up fucking amazing.
She CAN'T tank better with less HP and defense.
Open those eyes son and take a look at their growth rates.
And no, FE8 is not difficult enough for enemy units (that can actually damage) to start doubling Gilliam.
Using generals in ...general is retarded anyway, it's an inferior class.
>Hating on Amelia because her defense is lower than Gilliam, claiming speed doesn't make up for that.
Once Amelia hits General, she has high enough defense to take either trivial or outright zero damage from most enemies anyway.
But more importantly she has the advantage that if an enemy with armour slayer or magic shows up, Amelia still has very high dodge odds. Two effective lines of defense, bro.
Everytime I try to do a run of the game where I don't reset like crazy when one of the character I like dies I always give into temptation and reset anyways.
Fuck is there anyway to stop myself? How do you guys play FE? Reset deaths? Plow through that shit because your not a casual?
>making her into a sniper
>ballista use, 1 more STR at promotion and better movement on some terrain
depends, I can do no reset runs but I need to prepare myself mentally before I start playing, or else I'll probably end up dropping that run.
No reset runs, when I'm actually able to complete them, are some of the best experiences I've ever had with videogames, they're really fucking intense.
When I'm playing for the first time I usually play the normal way i.e. resetting when someone dies, but in the last few games I've started to play casual runs instead, there's no point in restarting other than playing the same stage over and over.
I like to use all the trainees personally. Amelia goes for speedy Knight->General, Ross goes for pirate->berzerker, and Ewan goes for Dark Mage->Druid with more than 5 defense.
Your other dark mage Knoll, is better as a summoner since he has no luck and no defense and gets rekt and needs the summons to be useful for creating distractions and not immediately dying if he gets too far from your army.
I reset depending on who died and how far I am into the stage.
If I'm pretty much mostly through the stage and the person who died isn't a healer or one of my major damage dealers then they're SOL.
Goddamn, I love Neimi. She's the only Archer in the series that always fucking delivers. Everybody else is just such a disappointment in comparison/
and is my FE girl of choice as well.
No death runs, its not like you'll ever actually get your lord killed.
IS really needs to just put a fucking no death and iron man modes for settings, no idea why they haven't done that shit yet
>Everybody else is just such a disappointment in comparison
Rolf in FE9 and 10 is a fucking destruction machine. I'd post here a Raiden edit from the old WAIFU WARS BOWS OF THE PATRIOTS threads if I had it.
But yes, Neimi is the only good bow user in 8. Innes is a not-Seth prepromote and thus shit and the others are better off promoting to something that doesn't use bows.
That's seems like such bad logic. If someone is curious about FE, why would you recommend the shittiest games to start with? That'll just make them think the entire series is equally shit and stop playing. It'd be like a server who recommends the worst items on the menu to every new person who comes there. Like shit people should start with 7,8, or 13 not the awful DS entries
Gerik can promote to Ranger but he's better off going Hero.
Ross is on the coletrain directly to Berserker, this is non negotiable.
The only one that might use bows is Warrior Garcia, but then you'd have to be using Garcia and hand axes already exist so why even bother either way.
You. You have good taste, friend.
Eirika first, Ephraim's is definitely more challenging
AS for units, especially on hard mode, you will want to abuse the tower at least a bit.
My favorite units to use are Gerrik, Joshua and Marrisa, and once you get them around level 13-15 they can take care of themselves
Then you promote them to Hero, Swordmaster and Assassin and wreck shop
Saleh and Duessel are also decent for pre-promotes (save stat boosting items for them)
ALSO, on Ephraims route, you NEED two staff users with restore because your units WILL get hit by enemy Berserk staffs.
Only thing that sucks more than losing a unit is losing it to one of your own.
Grado keep on hard mode is a bitch, but fun as fuck. Best level in the game.
Use all three trainees. If you're going to use a cavalier, Kyle is usually good. Its always a speed/skill vs str/def with cavaliers. Seth is actually a good unit he isn't your typical Jagen. I personally never use Jagens at all.
Ephraim will be your nigga.
Gerik will be your nigga.
Abuse arenas, abuse monsters that show up on the world map.
SS is a mage heavy game so you want Lute, Artur, and L'Arachael.
Ephraim's waifu is incredible as well you want to go the wyvern route when you class change.
Cormag is also an excellent unit.
Neimi is usually hit or miss. If you do use her it all depends on if you want the Sniper skill or the ability to attack at the 1-2 range. Either way she'll be the unit for the Legendary Bow.
If you're having serious trouble with SS you don't have the right units trained, you're not abusing the grinding heavy format they presented in the game, and you're just shit at FE in general.
Good luck! Abuse Serenes Forest.
SD isn't bad. It's just much mroe simplistic than the other games because it's a faithful remake of the first one. Having less mechanics might even be better for someone who's starting with the series.
Only people that will suffer from it's flaws are those already familiarized with the series. Things like unbalanced characters characters are maybe the biggest issue newcomers could have with it.
Isn't her stats beter as a sniper, though? I recall her being similar to Lute in the sense that both had better stats as sage/sniper but having low con, thus benefitting a lot from their mounted promotions so either way they should do fine.
Mathew wasn't that good either
Colm is okay as far as thieves go but his only real good stat is speed (which hell max asap). He occasionally will get lucky and max strength and luck will probably be decent but none of his other stats will break 20
Trainee Ross has awful stat caps and doesn't get the crit bonus or bows
Amelia also has bad caps and doesn't get any other weapons like every other option has
Ewan is the only acceptable trainee since he gets the entire magic triangle
Checking over ewan's stats. Super trainee ewan vs druid ewan is 1 mag, 1 skl, 15 crit, and light magic vs 3 spd and staffs.
I'm not sure what to think about this.
That's because myrmidons in SS are really good. I don't remember them being all that amazing in other games.
Colm is one of the best thieves I can recall and would probably be more of a match for someone like Guy or Rutger.
They get a skeleton bro that levels up with their summoner. So at high levels you get a completely expendable unit running around with a killer sword or something that can still take a decent amount of enemies.
So it comes down to either 15% critical or great shield and weapons, right?
Since Amelia is already a bruiser as it is, I think she could use that skill better than any other general in the series, even if that skill was present in any game other than SS.
That being said, with critical she'd be a female version of berserker Ross, which is pretty crazy on its own.
I think it's safe to say that there isn't really a way to have a bad Amelia, though. That girl could kick ass even as a
All this SS talk has made me want to finally finish it. Time to restart it again.
Also, I see everyone talk about Amelia becoming a General. Are Great Knight/Paladin not very good, or is general just flat out better than them?
Most FE8 characters are gods.
The tradeoff is that the dark magic users fucking suck.
