So... Do you guys like The Steel Samurai: Warrior of Neo Olde Tokyo?
the Jammin Ninja cover gets me every time they show it.
Sorry to tell you, but the Jammin' Ninja doesn't even compare to the Steel Samurai.
Why? First of all, the Jammin' Ninja is a show directed to young girls. Not like the Steel Samurai, which is directed to young and older audiences alike.
Second, the Steel Samurai is much more pleasing to watch than the Jammin' Ninja. Sure, if you prefer watching a ninja singing about love and friendship, instead of a hero of justice, fighting against all evil, that's your opinion. But I think that the second option is for people with the most refined taste.
Finally, the lore in the Steel Samurai's universe is deeper, than the Jammin' Ninja's. You can see how every character develops through the story: their origins, their feelings, their reasons to fight. Meanwhile, the only thing Jammin' Ninja does is sing to save Princess Misola and become a superstar.
So, as you can see, Steel Samurai has superior characteristics, ergo, being the superior show.
Besides Pink Princess>Princess Misola
Mr. Edgeworth? Are you... discussing a children's show on the internet?
I... Just heard a little about the show, okay!?
You guys need to stop judging things based on narrow-minded cultural assumptions.
Isn't that your phone, Mr. Edgeworth? I'm sure I've heard that ringtone somewhere before.
I've been meaning to ask this for a while but I keep forgetting:
Has Edgeworth (or even Franziska) ever made some kind of acknowledgement of the fact that Manfred is an evil criminal twat? It's annoying when they are all sucking his dick with the whole "Omg he's the perfect prosecutor! M-muh mentor..."
This was my face during the last third of that case
Pssst! Did you know that...
OP is a faggot?
Aha! Aha! Aha! Aha! Aha!
Aha! Aha! Aha! Aha! Aha!
Aha! Aha! Aha! Aha! Aha!
I-it's just the default ringtone!
Well, people are right about the cloak landing on the bust being dumb, as well as a lot of the prosecution's points being weak. I love a lot of the characters though, and I think the setting works amazingly with JFA's soundtrack. It was probably my favorite -3 case until AAI2-3 came around
Stop discussing the Steel Samurai, you pedophile faggots. Go back to your containment board, /neo/.
This is a board for discussing video games, and thus all threads must pertain to video game culture.
Anyways, anyone catch that murder trial last night on TV? It was all over the news.
How would you improve Apollo Justice?
Make Phoenix more of a side character
Make the Bracelet less dumb
Have Klavier get some actual development, make him a bit more of an opponent at first rather than your best bud
AJ did a lot of unnecessary flashbacks. They'd flash back to a scene that you just read not five minutes prior.
That said, I also really liked AJ.
Blasphemy! AJ Ema is the best AA girl.
>mfw you haven't even gotten to 1-5
Oh, anon, you are not prepared for this.
what a lucky fellow
i wish I could erase my memory and play the entire series again
Who would win in a fist fight, Layton or Wright?
Layton may be a badass, but don't forget that Wright is borderline immortal
So, is there any image that can be posted that we haven't all seen a million times already?
The only legit character in AA that has depression. Others are just "muh DARKNESS"
Does everyone have their bingo cards ready for the next thread?
I wish someone would retranslate this one properly.
CR has properly translated versions of the other 3 but this one was clearly translated before AA was confirmed for a localized release.
JFA defense force It's a really good game i promise
Don't mind me, just heading to my flight on page 10.
She'd fit right at home with the Umineko cast
Guess which one I'm responsible for
I can't tell if you actually missed the joke or not
>Fulbright is obviously the spy because he suddenly wanted to "help you" out of the blue and gave you incriminating evidence he claimed he "did not check".
>figured this out at the beginning of chapter 5
Why is DD such a shitty game?
Remember that time Phoenix objected so hard that Godot's face exploded?
Oh boy is it Umineko time again?
This picture is my mousepad I love it
It's always Umineko time. Except for the times when it's not.
It is my desire to create a world where anons will discuss AA, ZE, WTC and Kyle Hyde all in one thread on /v/. A shame that will never happen
May as well hit a few more of those bingo spots
Olga's Russian personality was so qt. I wish she stayed like that
>I know! We'll make Phoenix an annoying douchebag! It'll be great!
These threads are kinda depressing now
Everyone knows that everyone else is still there, but no one has anything to say
>young ema vs adult emma
>franny is love, franny is shit
>pearls' spiritual power
>sexualize the trucy
Literally every goddamn thread. And you know what? I'm still not tired of it. Carry on.
Well we haven't sexualised the Trucy in this thread yet. Let's do something about that.
Dahlia might be my favorite antagonist of all time.
What a delightfully evil bitch.
No probably not.
shit anon that is kinda sad. maybe they'll get a little more lively when America gets Layton vs Wright
It's because the games are consistantly good, so no one has anything to complain about, so /v/ has nothing to argue about.
Was Ace attorney versus professor layton Crap?
God, I hated her guts. Which was the point. What fucking bitch,
It was still enjoyable, but I felt it was one of the weaker games for both series
it was kinda rubbish. it tried to be a mix of the two games and wound up with a watered down version of both. i did like the way the cross examinations had multiple people though.
I don't have nearly as much as I'd like. Feel like posting a few?
Yeah sure. There really does need to be more of it.
Have random pictures in return
Will Gumshoe drive to safety? Can he reach the courtroom in time? Tune in next week for the exciting conclusion: "Gumshoe's Finest Hour"!
That's the most anime Layton I've ever seen in my life.
Honestly, I wouldn't even know who it was supposed to be if it weren't for the hat
>tfw I don't give a fuck.
My order was JFA, AJ, AA, T&T and I'm currently on DD
Yeah I know. There's really not much Layton vs Wright art so I wasn't gonna complain when I first looked for some.
Although maybe there's a bunch more now I really should go look again
I don't have any more AA pics that haven't been posted a million times already, so have this stupid bullshit instead
Your resistance only makes my Trucy posting harder
I have much more AA pics than I do Layton vs Wright pics. I spend to much time in all the /cm/ threads saving every piece of art/downloading all the folders they post. What's worse is my computer crashed a few months ago and I lost about half of my collection including all my FullbrightxBlackquill artwork.
That makes me sadder than anything and I even have the pixiv tag still I'm just lazy on top of it
>implying AJ Ema isn't the 2nd best part of that game
Even though younger Ema is better.
>tfw I realise I have as much, if not more, H AA pics than normal ones
>I don't even look at them
What is wrong with me?
Ema will never be this cute. It's time to accept that she isn't best girl and move on with your life
you fucked up bro
what was your opinion of Edgeworth before you played AA
Oh god, that horrible feel. I wish I didn't know it. My AA folder is fuckhuge right now and I don't know what I would do if I lost it.
Also, hello there fellow /cm/ anon! I'm the current OP for the ace attorney thread over there right now.
>My order was JFA, AJ, AA, T&T and I'm currently on DD
You're probably baiting, but just the thought that someone could actually do this irl is sickening
Oh hey there /cm/ bro. Yeah it's bad cause I always see artwork I know for a fact I've downloaded before but then I remember I lost half of it and always have to go recheck my folder and see if I still have it or not. I mean I know I'll get it all back eventually but it just sucks.
I was gonna change that Madara copypasta to work for Steel Samurai, but I'm too lazy, so have this dumb picture instead
I liked him as a character, and the game still goes out of the way to show that he and phoenix have a rivalry built on respect. I wasn't missing out any of the major details, so his reveal was still very welcome.
Serious question: Do you guys think DD suffered more from a lack of Phoenix or a surplus of Athena?
I was left with the impression that they were trying really hard to be more "anime" with the voices. You know like really cheesy and exaggerated so you know who's the bad guy/good guy/ sidekick easily.
I am sorry, but I am inclined to disagree with you on that matter. While Steel Samurai truly offers traditional male show (or 'shounen') values, it also comes with its own fair share of tired clichés.
The Nickel Samurai is, however, a deep post-modern deconstruction of the qualities of its medium, aimed at playing with the expectations of run-of-the-mill 'shounen' or Samurai animation fun.
In that sense, I do believe it far exceeds the potential of The Steel Samurai as a piece of art, despite being less accessible for the pure entertainment value alone and more fit for the enjoyment of a connoisseur.
and not sure on other cases. I remember going through some one with Kristoph as the defense attorney and some shitty self insert as the prosecutor a long time ago but that one was pretty shitty
How's this for something that rarely gets brought up in these threads anymore?
How fucking great was this movie. Aside from Redd White being totally different.
She would've looked cuter if her bangs were lower.
Funny, Ghost Trick was the game I beat before starting the AA series.
Please do not sexualize the Trucy
I think Pearls and Trucy
are the best assistants in the series. Kay a shit, Athena a super shit.
I've played them all except for AAI2, but I played them so damn casually (translating: played a bit before sleep) that I really don't remember most of the cases. I love the discussions here on /v/ because, aside from MGS, it seems that they are the only polite threads
It took me about two months to clear the DLC case from DD, because I was coming late from work every day and slept rather quickly, with little to no energy/time left for saving Orca.
I want to play them all again, but in a quicker pace now that I've got more free time from my job. For anyone that already played the Trilogy remake on 3DS: I know it's mostly based on the iOS version, which I actually couldn't stand. Has the manequin heads (pic related) been fixed? Does it feel better than on iPad/iPhone? Otherwise I'll just grab my old DS Lite.
Oh, I forgot, not only the manequin heads, but the object transitions felt reaaaally jerky, which pissed me off and took most of the charm of the game. User interface here really left for dead.
Holy shit, my sides. Never read that one.
OP Pink Princess is clearly where its add
So what's the verdict is Gumshoe gay for Edgeworth or is Bromance at disturbing levels?
Great cases await.
I also finished JFA today (re-run for me though), and will continue with T&T now.
that's a nice WM setup, anon... what are you using? Also that main action (extract) on the titlebar, how do you implement it?
Emmy is literally the Athena of the Layton series.
Prove me wrong.
>forced themselves into being the protagonist's assistant
I think I notice a pattern...
Uh, it's pretty much finished.
They still say it's a beta because a typo or two could've slipped by, but it's all solid and works great.
The only bug is that text can get cut off when you change screens (when 3D examining evidence or loading progress). Nothing major, and it rarely happens.
aai2 is good but takes itself a little too seriously, ups the stakes too high and overall the cases are pretty simple and not as interesting as in other games
people will suck up to it for a while because the translation just came out, but its not the best game
I guess I know what I'll be doing on the weekend.
One more question though, I haven't played 1 since it was released and barely remember much about it. Should I replay it first?
>NO ONE BOTHERED TO REWIND THE SECURITY FOOTAGE TAPE TO SEE A SUSPICIOUS MAN WITH A BLOODIED HAND WALK OUT OF THE CRIME SCENE
I think DD suffered from lackluster cases, a lame prosecutor, an unusually high number of grammatical mistakes and being a bit too hand-holdy at times.
I would not count "too much Athena" or "not enough Phoenix" among its issues.
>tfw no blind AA LP videos with facecam reactions or stuff
I just want to see people reacting to the shocking moments in the games
Why would Phoenix drag along an 8 year old girl to murder scenes?
I thought the Rusted Ronin arc was a pretty weak follow up after Jack Hammer's death retired the Evil Magistrate, but the introduction of the Bronze Bushido was great, and the Silver Shogun storyline remains GOAT.
Ghost Trick is amazing, but you're not going to have much luck stirring up shit between AA fans and GT fans, since they're basically the same people.
(P.S. if you've played all the AA games but haven't played GT, then you haven't really played all the AA games)
Oh, okay. I just had wondered if there was actually something to it in the game because I really couldn't fathom why it was in there at all, let alone why it was so dramatic.
Sometimes connected cases are neat, but I think I prefer standalone cases. I like the variety that the self-contained cases present, instead of trying to make things into a big elaborate murder conspiracy tale. It's one of the reasons the first game is probably my favorite--any case that's somehow connected to the one you're working on was wrapped up along with your primary case. It felt like an anthology of awesome stories instead of one big story divided into little segments.
Did anyone else think that there was going to be a huge plot twist with these two? Like, that Granny is just a dummy or a corpse or some shit, or that Karin is constantly lying about what Granny says?
AAI2 was by far my favorite ace attorney game, because everything was connected. Not only was every case amazing on its own but the fact that they were deeply connected, yet separate completely sold me.
Not only that, but who the shit was the "reporter" who took that photo of blackquil with the murder weapon? I'm willing to bet anything it was Lotta. Who the fuck else would show up, take a single photo and just fucking bolt never to be seen or heard from again. If they had stayed for ANY length of time they would have known what the fuck was happening.
Still haven't gotten to AAI2 yet, but I'm looking forward to it.
Finishing up a replay of AJ, then I want to go through AAI one more time before I dive into AAI2. It'll be nice not having to be so cautious about what I look at in these threads again.
Forgot to mention in my previous post, but I think my preference for standalone cases is why I don't mind the long ones. I've been real bummed that we haven't had a 3-day case since the first game.
No, she won't.
Look at her. She's 17 years old and she's a fucking plank, even flatter than Maya
While that would make the most sense, for some reason not a single other person was seen on the security footage right outside of the room. I mean I guess spy gadgets or some shit but really? It seems kinda strange they would just kinda gloss over that one. Like how means shouldn't have even had his staff/spear/whatever the fuck in the beginning of his case.
>because her granny was right fucking there.
Well that was the other part of my theory... I thought maybe Granny was drugged up or senile or something, and that Karin had basically hijacked her authority like Grima Wormtongue,
You can't unee the eyebrow dance now.
you've kind of got a point. three characters is too many to play as. i'd be happy with dropping either Wright or Apollo as playable if it meant the game would have more focus.
I don't understand, I actually blushed to his theme.
Here is something that rarely gets discussed:
What do you guys think?
I think it's good for a fan inspired game, compared to others. On it's on it's just above average.
Nice, finished it once.
The same can be said about Phoenix Wright. All he does is murder cases
except for the first part of 3-2. We never see him doing other cases such as whether or not a company is legit, or who was responsible for a car crash, etc. Yes, murder is more dramatic and the cases are all stacked against your client, however if all you do is murder can someone really be called an Ace Attorney? My answer is yes
Right, but Phoenix never says "I could never get into being an attorney. What do I care about murders?"
I'm just wondering if the game's scope of philosophy goes beyond ethics or not.
I'm not arguing that people who study ethics aren't philosophers. That'd be dumb. I'm saying that the two words aren't synonymous.
>I'm just wondering if the game's scope of philosophy goes beyond ethics or not.
It doesn't, however the game is a flash game released for free and it kinda feels like it was made by some uni students, especially since the philosophy is entry level, or at least that's how I fell.
I personally, don't think all of this are actual flaws in the game.
If this isn't you cup of tea, then I respect your preference.
Anyone besides me really like the Phantom?
I felt like he was the only villain I could analyze beyond what he appeared on the surface level, like how they twisted the usually comedic mask behind a mask thing to something more disturbing, and relating him to a theme of identity.
I was really impressed that they didn't show his face at the end,I mean his face and identity didn't matter to him so why should it matter to us.
It was also cool that Phantom ended up being the villain with the highest death count, it helps show how in reality it's the hired mercenaries with no tragic past, no elaborate back story, and no true motive besides money that end up causing the most harm.
Too bad Athena was a shit and dragged down an otherwise great game She was alright in her case though
>his face and identity didn't matter to him so why should it matter to us
Because I wanted to see that fucker and look him in the eye when he realized that I was making his whole world crumble around him.
But they took that from me. They just couldn't let me have that satisfaction.
J-jesus christ how is this thread still alive?!
Phoenix Wright is as American as Apple Pie, or Hazakura Mountain.
But she was important to the story of the final case. So was Simon. That case was about them.
And she still brought the Mood Matrix gimmick to the game, whether you liked it or not.
yeah but I feel like they just as easily could have created a character that they didn't force on you. I know it's dumb but she really bugged me. If the case were about Santa-Larry and Simon, that would be cool.
I feel like a game could be good if it worked off the Phoenix -Apollo dynamic. None of this forgin-evidence or Apollo being a bitch. Introducing Athena robbed us of a game where Phoenix and Apollo stand at the defense's bench as full-fledged attorneys.
>At least Dual Destinies helped fix Apollo.
By giving him a childhood friend? What else changed?
The worst part is that she's probably going to be in any AA games that take place after DD as one of Phoenix's employees.
Honestly I wouldn't be that upset if she stuck around. But only if I didn't have to play as her, and Trucy was back in the assistant role.
So she can stick around, I just don't want to see that much of her.
I like the circus case, but it seems that the general complaints are about the cast of annoying characters, the pants-on-head case being made by the prosecution (re: >>253584839), and the point that Acro isn't as sympathetic of a character as we're lead to believe (he tried to murder the daughter of the man he owes everything to because she accidentally put his brother into a coma and is too airheaded to understand that--then when he accidentally kills the man he owes everything to, he tries to pin the crime on the one person who is attracting business to the circus).
Anything I missed, 2-3-haters?
I wasn't happy with Trucy only appearing to get rid of unneeded items or for the final DD case. I'm probably hoping for something that will never happen but I want just one case where you deal with an adult Maya Fey. Like Kurain Master and everything. That being said, the case would have to kick ass.
>I wasn't happy with Trucy only appearing to get rid of unneeded items or for the final DD case.
You and me both. Trucy was an awesome assistant, and replacing her with Athena really bummed me out. And yeah, seeing an adult Maya would be pretty cool.
As annoying as he was, his one redeeming factor was bringing Regina to court to open her eyes as to what was happening.
Also, I forgot to mention in my previous post that people especially hate Moe because of his section of testimony that you get penalized for pressing the wrong bits. Pretty sure the only other case that has that is 3-3.
They're great games but they don't have much replay value unless you wait for a really long time.
I did play AAI to case 4 a couple of years back but never finished it, now that the sequel's translated I've replayed it from the start and caught up to the part I was at.
I'm on my second playthrough of the series right now. Honestly, I could see doing this every few years.
While I don't foresee ever forgetting the culprits of each case, I've got a shit enough memory where the journey to the end of each case will still probably be enjoyable.
Can we discuss Ghost Trick too to keep this thread from getting stale?
