You mean KO's don't count unless they disappear? Why can't they just make it so it counts when the animation starts?
Yes, just like he tweaked the speed and floatiness, added GC controller support and supported the tourneyfaggots, all that while adding mainstream characters that the main public will like.
Yet everyone complains.
I think that would be punishing the person who got killed TOO much, because their opponent just got a point and then they have to wait several seconds to get back in action which could be crucial in making a comeback. This change seems to for the purpose of eliminating the problem with someone winning or losing because a silly little animation took too long.
>The amount of time that Jigglypuff sleeps after killing someone with Rest is short enough for her to wake up before they die from a star KO, but if they hit a blastline and die instantly they can get back to the stage and attack her before she wakes up. This change makes it so she can never get a safe star KO with it once you hit that time limit.
>A cheesy tactic people sometimes do with Jigglypuff is holding down shield until it breaks, which sends her flying upwards into a star KO which can make it almost impossible to kill her at the last few seconds of the match.
Not even tourneyfags plays that shit map anymore. And even then, you know the guy is a fucking Space Furry for wanting to pick this stage.
Nobody fucking wanted only FD stages. Its unbalanced and defeats the point of a platform fighter. I hope Sakurai takes this info consideration and changes it to different versions of battlefield instead, it shouldn't be difficult at all to add some generic platforms
That just shows how out of touch Sakurai is. No tourneyfag wanted that, its just some meme. But nope apparently Sakurai though "no items, fox only, final destination" was serious
That wouldn't be balance unless he takes into consideration characters that don't have projectiles and characters that can and will benefit from chain grabs due to a lack of platforms.
The point is platforms give little "havens" from some things
While adding mobility for some characters with smaller jumps, or giving new places to recover onto
This is why fox is so fucked on FD, EVERYONE chaingrabs him, and he cant retreat anywhere when recovering, its ledge or bust basically
Nigga that is fundamentally impossible. Characters with projectiles are just flat out better. No platforms makes it far easier for characters like fox to spam lasers then run to the other side if you get close
Which isn't allowed in smash comp play.
And look how the audience boo'd at scarflard. No one wants to be a cheap, stalling asshole, so your character with long-range beats the hard-working characters with zero shit range.
>WFT even gets fit when she's slamming into the screen
Sakurai is brilliant.
Final Destination was the most chosen stage online by a fucking landslide.
Except the Japanese tourneyfags
They have FD only rulesets, I think you guys are forgetting where this game come froms
Chaingrabs are gone, you can report players for being douchebags while play and while projectiles do make FD better for them, theres ways of getting around them obviously.
There seem to be a lot of changes to help competitive play, but I've still heard plenty of complaints from people that have played that combos still aren't really possible due to low hitstun and that momentum doesn't carry into jumps.
>watch the smash reveal trailer live
>oh cool what do the smash ppl have to say
>go to comp smash twitch channel reaction stream
>analyzing a trailer for dairs, stages, muh tech, edge grabs
>literally no hype
>literally no fun allowed
fucking tourney fags
>the metagame of Japan is radically different from that of America and Europe (especially the stage list, which is only composed of Final Destination, Smashville, and Battlefield)
You're looking at the wrong tourneys then. Battlefield, Smashville, Fountain of Dreams, Dreamland, Yoshi's Story, Yoshi's Island, Pokemon Stadium 1, Lylat System, Pokemon Stadium 2, and Final Destination are most of the stages usually played on (stages may vary depending on game or mod). Some tourneys have rare exceptions like Space Frigate being allowed. Counter picking is a part of tourney play. Maybe some people honestly don't see it, but platforms are an integral part of the game at any skill level.
Final Destination sounds good on paper, but can place a huge advantage to one character while placing a huge disadvantage to another. Lack of platforms grant benefits to characters that can jump in your face without much punishment or worry.
Ah ha ha. You haven't read anything about Smash 4 I take it. You literally can't follow up on grabs anymore. THe knockback and finishing lag is too great now. They're good KO moves now, but good luck trying to execute a combo or a chaingrab with them.
>Making a Final Destination variant of every level
>No one wants a fucking FD version of every level
>Sakurai actually took the joke seriously.
If this was any other competent developer, though, it would be fixed before launch or addressed in a patch (with ever level having a FD, Battlefield, or "neutral" setup). But since Nintendo has no idea what the Internet is (or cares about the Smash scene),
>Seriously? I only ever see FD on tourneys.
Well you certainly didn't watch EVO or Apex, that's for sure.
a lot of joke smash videos, where the guy taunts as the other player is in the middle of the star KO's and one of the cars at Port Town Aero Drive hits him and he ends up flying across the stage and losing
>momentum doesn't carry into jumps.
>In a Nintendo game
This continues to be the most glaring flaw since the exhaust port in the first Death Star.
>Sonic's doesn't look like this.
What a missed opportunity.
This is actually a good idea.
I've lost some time matches because my oponent is sent flying away on the last seconds of the game and the time ends before he/she finishes flying away and doesn't count as a kill.
Good job Sakurai
It seems that Sakurai still plays the new Kirby games
Combos are definitely possible, people are just not used to the game yet, theres combos in plenty of videos and there IS hitstun, unlike brawl where you could cancel out at anytime. If you've seen Greninja play or played as him you'd know momentum does carry into jumps but it's a stronger ground game for now.
All competitive players play with 8 minutes on the timer and stock. Not that it really matters cause that's more than enough time if this is a 3stock game like brawl.
Supposedly the whole community except you buddy.
>that momentum doesn't carry into jumps.
This made no sense in Brawl, it makes no sense in Smash 4.
This company was literally FOUNDED on momentum-based jumping. It is so ill-conceived I can't eve fathom how anyone thought this was a good idea.
>that character you hate that you know is gone for good
no, of course not. Who the hell likes roy?
Jesus christ, tourneyfags get their OWN FUCKING MODE yet their still moaning and shitting over the series.
Can you just admit you're not proper smash fans and leave the rest of us alone? You're becoming a serious downer
>perfectly flat stage
>why does everyone laugh at us "PRO SMASHERS"??
Yea hes a cool character sure. I have nothing against him or metal gear. He just felt so out of place in smash bros it felt strange whenever he was on the playing field.
Especially if he had made it back in this game, considering how much more colorful this one is.
>a character isn't shit, so it's a cakewalk
there's a better way to make your main characers, who you have to use all the time and result in a game over when they die, not shit or overpowered. Eirika is a good example. Her growths follow that of a myrmidon, except maybe a little better, and gets a horse when she promotes
For Glory mode isn't tourneyfag mode, it's underage Fox faggot who thinks he can play like tourneyfags mode.
It exists solely to prevent these faggots from making you play on FD in every fucking match online.
To be fair, this motherfucker in Brawl is a pain in the ass to fight on FD.
except perfectly flat stages are unbalanced. They favor characters with chaingrabs, large attackboxes, and strong horizontal approach, while disfavoring characters with strong vertical approach and small attack range.
>the tourneyfag mentality.
The fact that people think that this is what the "tourneyfag mentality" is is funny.
Do you know why items are off? Because they introduce elements of complete inadaptability and because they are extremely powerful to the point where you should always be throwing items at each other, thus homogenizing gameplay.
Do you know why certain stages are banned? Because players are so good and understand the game so thoroughly that they have figured out that there are stages where they can just fucking demolish you through stage design, completely safely.
And characters in Melee were never, ever banned.
This and edge trumping I can get behind
Two features that desperately was needed in Melee and Brawl.
I feel like zoners can deal with him well, Mario might give him trouble since he can keep jumping away and spamming fireballs. As long as he doesn't get caught on the ground, Mac can't do crap.
I played as Ike and Ganondorf against my Falco friend. I knew when he picked FD that I'd have a hell of a long match. At least Ike had the range and the jab to not be as weak to grabs though.
I can't get into his series, it's a mediocre TBRPG.
If they wanted to add a midget from a niche series, Goemon would've filled that slot better.
Imagine if he were miraculously in now.
>Throwing fast Ryo or slower, higher damage flaming Ryo Medal attack
>Extending his chain pipe for his grab or a ranged smash attack
>Summoning Impact for his Final Smash, punching shit from the view of the cockpit
Hey mate, fuck off. I've already told you to piss off.
It's been 12 motherfucking years since melee was released yet you're still sucking it off and ruining actual Smash threads.
Ike's jab is godlike.
Then again, so is Falco's.
Back then I'd just moved to Brawl from Melee so I tried to play a rushdown Falco, so matches weren't too lame.
Rushdown is shit in Brawl though, if feels like every game mechanic is working against you when you play that way.
>there is no chain grabs
We don't REALLY know there aren't any chaingrabs because the game isn't out yet anyway, and it's a smash game, so we know how the characters are gonna be balanced: They won't be.
Why are you such a faggot?
Honestly, you tourneyfags have this fucking ridiculous mentality going into a game like Smash, and you're fucking cancerous to the community that likes to play it.
You are a gigantic fucking faggot.
My friend was the stally type, chaingrabs, lasers, you name it. I still won more matches, but I picked up Marth as a sub just to get out of chaingrabs. I'm glad most of the people I played weren't too annoying though, some of the later Brawl matches I've seen have been so boring.
>you will never worm across the stage as Goemon in a Smash Bros game
>you will never fight in feudal japan with a giant robot battle taking place in the background, occcasionally interrupting the stage
>you will never activate his final smash with the impact theme kicking in as he blows the triton shell
meleefags are just sad persons that only need attention, i mean they cant have fun with a new game with a lot of new stuff and a REAL online mode
its just sad see this kind of person
Why is it bad to play a game regardless of its release date?
Why should you unconditionally look forward to the future and support a developer that intentionally made a trainwreck of a game?
No, not really what I'm saying
Yeah honestly the kirby guy found out that you can instant KO on the lighting fixture on the boxing stage and just kept hiding and doing that and no one cared. Then the fat kid was playing smart and used his longer ranged pokes to keep kirby out and it worked.
Really the kirby instant KO thing was more bullshit but for some reason it was fun to watch and not as frustrating, though I admit by all accounts and purposes it should be considered worse
I think that Kirby play had it coming for playing like a pussy, reminds my if my brother who plays him.
>runs from me when I play sonic
>gets mad when I don't struggle out of a kirbycide
>whines when I can ko him with an item
I'm not sure if I'll be using a gamecube controller this time around or not. They have dedicated shield and grab buttons on the wii u pro controller and my biggest beef with the gamecube controller is pressing Z and getting a shield instead half the time
>Smashing my friend's shit in 1v1 as Ganon
>He keeps calling my grab bullshit
>Tell him I'm playing the objectively worst fighter in the entire series and he should shut his faggot face
>Decides to pick Falco and go straight for FD
>Punch his bitch ass in the air whenever he jumps over me to run across the stage
>Gives up his controller to another friend
Fucking casuals man.
Yeah the GC layout is just perfect for smash except for the Z button thing. You can do R+A I know but even that can be spotty.
I'm hoping they have a Wii U bundle for Smash that includes the GC adapter along with the game and console. That way I can have the option to use either.
I agree that is fun. However I was playing Brawl with my sister the other day and the most satisfying thing is throwing them off the stage and then doing the suicide side B when they hop back to the stage
I remember watching one of those Melee tournament videos with the commentators talking about Ganondorf. They said that Ganon is a bad fighter, but only if you respect his spacing, which casuals never do. If you don't respect Ganondorfs spacing by either A.) Letting him run over you, or B.) Going full yolo trying to do 0-100% combos, you could be playing the most tourneyfag spacie and Ganon will punch your shit to the next Zelda timeline.
And as a Ganon main, I fucking believe it. Fuckers always dash attacking hoping to get something out until I chain grab and f-air their stupid ass.
Screen KOs seem only marginally faster than star KOs in this game though, considering the characters comically linger on the sreen for a second before falling off
Anyway, if I ever lost because I got a double KO with my opponent and I died faster because of a screen KO/I failed to get a KO just as time was running out and then lost because of percent/lost because of a sudden death following a situation like that, I wouldn't even be mad, that'd be tense as fuck
I'm pretty sure a Mario character, a Pokemon, and Miis are easily identifiable by the public, and any backlash over them has been by vocal minority neckbeards on the Internet at best.
Kid Icarus isn't terribly mainstream but Uprising was pretty successful.
Many characters can still follow up off throws. Luigi can combo from his down throw at fucking 90%.
It's just Marth's throws that got nerfed up the fucking ass.
Ending lag is widely inconsistent between characters both on aerials and throws at the moment though, as is knockback. I think it's just unfinished and the numbers haven't been tweaked yet.
Check it, bruh. Casuals won't play for glory, and tourneyfags will practice with other tourneyfags and exchange friend codes so they can do specific setups.
For Glory and alternate Final destinations are for the middle of the road people who believe NO ITEMS FOX ONLY FINAL DESTINATION is how the "real" players play, which is probably the largest segment.
And get ready for Little Mac to be king of For Glory.
>Mfw I play best on Final Destination
>Mfw I love chain-grabbing and long combos with no platform interruption
For Glory mode is gonna be fun. I hope the best/most common characters are fast-fallers that I can juggle all day long.
Goemon is the shit
>Does his kabuki head roll for a taunt
The back of that blue dragon would be a cool stage, as well.
Having it land at different areas of the game like a Coffee Shop, outside of Edo Village, or at the Shrine of the Money God.
>Little Mac being the king of For Glory
Literally the first thing that popped into my mind when Sakurai brought up the "Every stage has a FD form!" thing, nice to see I wasn't the only one who picked up on that.
It's fucking stupid that he chooses a stage with no platforms and heavy emphasis on ground game, when there's a character who is mega OP on the ground. Ill probably never touch For Glory because it will be swarmed with Little Mac fags, OHKOing motherfuckers everywhere with that goddamn punch.
Why is /v/ full of so many idiots that thinks Sakurai actually listens to them?
Do you really think Sakurai has seen the "Fox Only, No Items, Final Destination" jokes?
Of fucking course he hasn't, he's Japanese, he doesn't speak English well at all.
This is along the lines of the people saying that he altered Chrom/Lucina because he read the Gemetsu leak.
Do you see all the effort he's putting into this game? There's no way he has time to read all of this shit or even be aware of it, let alone give a shit.
Fuck, you're as retarded as people that post on the Miiverse begging Sakurai to add Goku, expecting him to actually read their English comments.
SURE IS SUMMER IN HERE
>Not even Dark Magician or Blue Eyes White Dragon assist trophies, not that I can think of what they'd do aside from shootan magic
Konami so cruel.
No platforms also means you can be juggled very easily as you have no platforms to land on as you fall. Chaingrabs and up air juggles are common on FD and a lack of platforms also means it's easy to get grabs, which can be converted into more juggles. I wouldn't call Mac to be that good on it just yet; most characters will be able to up throw him and then juggle him.
I think he's a very flawed character regardless of the stage. Air game is everything in Smash and he has none of it.
There isn't, they just made it so that when the countdown in a time match is nearly over, Star KOs won't happen to prevent the "3 2 1 GAME" and you lose because they hadn't dinged yet
>Sakurai actually listens to them?
You mean the Swordsmen joke? Or the "I am alive" joke? Or him imitating Iwata's directly pose?
Or de- and reconfirming ZSS, because retards actually believe she is cut?
Have you played the Smash for Wii U? Seems to me like most players agree that he's a beast. Yes he has no air game, but if he can make up for it that's great. Unfortunately we won't be seeing any crazy maneuvers like we're used to seeing in tourneys from him, but who knows how good he'll be.
there was one of rosalina in the invitational, all I remember is she looked slutty, anyone have it?
Well of course, afterallheisyourFUTUREWIFE. hahahahaha
Sakurai: I already ordered a pizza. (laughs)
HOW DARE TOURNEYFAGS REFUSE TO PLAY FUN AND INTENSE STAGES LIKE THIS ONE?!
Wonder what other game mechanic updates there'll be. Seems like they're pushing to make it more competitive.
>>Tell him I'm playing the objectively worst fighter
I'll bet you actually that in real life too you fucking autist.
Do you say "implying" to your friends too?
I hope they make it so that you can have more than 300HP and set up stock HP. That'd be cool. I like the idea of HP mode but it never lasts long enough.
They should bring back bonuses and bonus mode but make it so you can win without having the most kills since kills counted for so many points in melee.
i hated him from the beginning
i really wanted purple shirt to fuck him up
I think they should remove HP mode from the bonus section and make it a game type along with stock, time, etc. In that way, we'd get more options to fix HP mode to feel appropriate. It felt weird that it was always in the same group as everyone getting bunny ears and spicy food for the duration of the match.
Graphics look pretty good as 3DS games go. Good enough for purpose.
Haven't played it but if I can adapt to play on an X360 controller then I'm sure I can adapt to play on a 3DS.
I don't like how the characters don't really go far when they get star KO'd, in the first smash bros you could see them becoming actual points and then a star popped, in this one they go far a couple of meters and then disappear, often directly in front of a background object, fucking retarded.
>add insult to injury
Ironically, it wouldn't. The appeal of the taunt is that it does nothing, so when you see someone do it, they're doing it for nothing other than to piss you off. It's not as rage-inducing if people spam taunt to heal. I don't get mad if Q or Dudley taunts 'cause I know he's getting health or is trying to mix me up.
*teleports in front of you*
*high fives you forever*
pssh, nothin cassual...kid...
Compared to Melee it's even less balanced. The fact that momentum doesn't carry into jumps + general Brawl air speeds means that sticking along the ground is the only real way to move, which means camping should be even easier.
Are you fucking kidding? That's NOTHING like 64. You can follow up throws for days in 64. It's infamous for zero to death combos. Meanwhile in Smash 4 it looks like there's so much end lag that you literally cannot following at all. Which is fucking stupid.
Tripping is gone, that's all I need
I know that Yuji Naka asked for Sonic in Melee, but in the "History of Sonic" book, it mentions that during Brawl development, Nintendo were the ones that approached SEGA during early development, and they initially declined. This was after Yuji Naka left by the way. When fan demand rose after Snake's appearance and a poll was made, Nintendo tried again to convince SEGA with said poll, and it was there that they decided to let Sonic in.
I almost want to say that Sonic's screen KO is similar to this face. Tiny pupils and everything.
Hyrule temple was also fairly easy to get around. Any character could jump from the bottom bit either up the steps on the left or up to the ledgey bit in the middle. It was hard for some characters in NPC to get from the bottom to the top middle even with 3 jumps.
NPC is too big and now Palutena's Temple looks even bigger, it's gonna be so shit.
The point is, out of all the countries/nations in the world, Japan has by far the most influence on Smash.
That would explain other things like:
>Samus's design always being based on the Sakamoto developed games and not Prime
>Characters like Marth, Lucas and Roy being added
>R.O.B's default color scheme is his red Famicom palette swap
>Pic related games' never came out in any form in Japan, and thus received no references, not even a sticker, in Brawl.
Granted, there are times when Sakurai throws the US a bone with characters like Little Mac, but other than that, Smash is a very japanese oriented game and always has been.
>Samus's design always being based on the Sakamoto developed games and not Prime
Wait that doesn't make any sense because Brawl Samus WAS Prime Samus. Zero Suit was based on Zero Mission which Retro used in Prime 2 and 3
But Startrpoics getting zero reckoning tion is pretty bullshit. Hell, Nintendo of America doesn't remember it because it's not even on the e-shop
Nope, shoulders give it away as Prime. Technically Prime's suit design is heavily inspired by SM, but it's definitely the Prime Varia suit.
>Stage Builder still hasn't been announced.
Thanks, have some tits
It's an exploit that can be used to run unsigned code, but that's a coincidence; it's not like EVERY stage builder will do the same thing. That's like saying we can't have any more zelda save files because of the twilight hack.
I really hope they get their shit together with the stage builder. The one in brawl was lame as fuck. Pick between 3 backgrounds/item types and you can't overlap anything which totally kills any cool stage ideas? It was so half-baked.
final destination is not completely balanced. It's in the favor of fast characters with projectiles and space furries have a huge advantage. I'd say the most balanced stage is battlefield and any other medium-sized neutral stages with a simple platform formation.
15 years since the original smash bros and they're STILL making time matches the default?
Nobody likes that shit. The only time it's ever played is when someone forgets to set it to stock.
Even though Scarflard won at least this Cow lost the first round.
>not making a stage that's literally just a boxed in area with no way out, putting level 9 CPUs in there and watching them fight until they all reach 999% and spend the rest of eternity ricocheting off the walls at mach speed
>I fucking despise Earthbound
Don't worry man, it's gunna be awesome. You'll be able to draw stuff on the pad and shit, and like make your own stage bosses, and upload online and there'll be a rotating playlist where we get to play everyones creations and the top rated will become permanent and it'll be great.
I do hope we get a better stage builder. Building will be wicked easy with the gamepad and 3DS touchscreen.
Hopefully they'll let us use our own pictures as backgrounds and make it so that props can be put next to one another.
A greater variety in stage hazards would be nice too.
i would always make ridiculous gimmick stages. like one that was completely encased except for one empty block in the top. After a while we would just be getting blasted around by single punches at 999% until one of us rocketed out the top
You're wrong. Time is better for 3 and 4 man play because it means that everybody gets to play the full time. If you play stock then the first two to die have to sit and watch the last two duke it out.
I was really hoping it would show up in this game. They even modeled Captain's eye where the visor was going to break.
But no, we get half-assed "steaming" instead.
Because when I'm playing for fun with 3 friends with items on I should really be contemplating why I did badly in the match being played rather than just continuing to play and have a good time when I've died 4 times.
That eye is right useful in model hacks for making extra stuff near his head.
What's the deal with Megaman getting a special KO animation anyway? I mean it's cool, but pretty much every character in the game has some sort of unique death animation from their game that could be done.
Fucking ZSS, waste of a slot and annoying as shit playstyle. Any other hunter or Ridley would have been a better choice, and I've found ZSS players are almost exclusively faggots. See: Zero.
>Yet everyone complaints
since when does /v/ count as everyone? Nevermind that most "complaints" come from Sonyggers that are still butthurt that their All-Star-Whatever was a piece of shit.
I don't even know what you're trying to get at. I disagree that ZSS is a waste, but if someone thinks a character is a waste of a slot, then they don't mean that they think Sakurai started development and arbitrarily stated "This game will have X number of roster slots and once we fill them, that's it!", they mean the time and development spent on including that character would have been better spent one someone else. It's a simple notion to grasp and it makes perfect sense.
It's the super metroid design you jackasses, the shoulderpads and arm cannon gives it away. I suggest you go compare the metroid prime and super metroid designs again.
I can think of some objective reasons why ZSS is a waste compared to other possible Metroid characters, though admittedly all of the clones would be on the chopping block before her.
Implication is the same.
You couldn't be more wrong, for either meele or project M.
FD is a common pick in both scenes.
I said I didn't agree, but I understand his notion. I don't just go "hurr durr, muh slots" or whatever.
I thought Snake was a waste of a "slot" in Brawl. First because I don't like the character, and second because I think there were plenty of actual Nintendo characters that the development time could have been better spent on. My opinion is no more or less valid than someone who thinks Snake is the coolest thing ever. They're opinions, dude, chill the fuck out.
They mean the same thing. It takes time/effort to make a character to take up a slot, and in this sense of the word, there ARE a restricted number of slots.
>thinking jigglypuff will ever get cut
Not if sakurai wants to keep his life, the japanese fans would riot.
>playin some brawl at a party
>friend goes sonic
>close ass match, he has the percentage lead
>keeps thinking im so slow ass mother fucker and keeps spamming "UR 2 SLOW" over and over
>he starts spinning up and shit, slamming into me, and what not
>after he few more times, decide fuck it, lets press B
>AHHHHHHHHHHHHHRvfgtwfevbywhgbveed and the punch connected
>put the controller down, stand up, and walk away
>everyone in the room is flipping shit
coin matches? They're a not-so-fun diversion just like stamina mode
Coins come out of opponents when you hit them, you run into them to collect 'em. Whoever has most at the end of the match wins. I think you lose half your coins if you're KO'd.
You might try it once or twice but it's just nowhere near as fun as regular matches
If you're over sixteen and anticipating this then you also shouldn't have any prejudice toward furries, MLP fans, fedora atheists, adults playing pokemon, and other subhuman degenerates.
ZSS was fun to play, though. But I think her balance suffered a bit from being just an alternative form of Samus, not to mention that her final smash was shit as it completely changed her playstyle. I much prefer them being separate, and look forward to play her in Kerfuffle.
>All of the bonus game modes favour the person who would win on kills anyway.
Except for the best bonus game mode of all, which was removed from Brawl, the crowd-pleasing Melee or whatever it was called.
uh, bonus melee? i have not once in my life played that mode or seen anyone else play it, i actually forgot it existed until you brought it up
It was called bonus mode. You'd still generally win on kills due to kills being worth like 10,000 each and all other bonuses being worth only 1 or 2 thousand at most. I do want to see it come back with slightly reduced points for kills. It would be nice to play full matches with no idea of who will win and then getting dicked over despite having 2 more kills than everyone else because they landed on the fucking fortune square... I mean uh because they had fewer stale moves and stiff knees.
>It takes time/effort to make a character to take up a slot
The problem comes with saying "a slot" because it assumes all characters take an equal amount of effort and time to implement into the game and thus assuming that all slots have equal value.
They don't. A "slot" does not represent a fixed amount of development resources which is what a lot of people who use the term seem to imply it does.
>bonus mode? what's that
>mode of vs. mode in which the winner is determined by the amount of points they have obtained via Bonuses.
>In order to win, you must use techniques that will gain you a bonus, as in the bonuses you get in 1 Player mode.
>For example, even if one gets the most KOs in a 4 player Melee, if one player avoided fighting the whole time, the "Switzerland" bonus has a good chance of leading to said player's victory, mostly because it adds 12,000 onto your score.
Don't we all?
For fuck's sake /v/
FD is the space animals'' worst favorite stage because a grab on a spacie there = death. You will never see a competent spacie player take anyone but another spacie there.
It happened in the show a while back and everyone flipped and drew a bunch of porn.
>early this morning
>10 hours later, thread is still alive
Motherfucking power stars.
Even his campy playstyle is nowhere near as campy as Scarflard. He'll actually mount an offensive, Scarflard didn't initiate an attack unless it was a counter in that entire match. Also Scarf hid throughout his other matches like on pilotwings where he dicked around on the bottom wing of the plane.
My memory is bad then, I thought I remember Zero having the percent lead in addition to winning the SD
>I like comboing out of throws. Nothing's keeping me from doing that in the other games, though.
>Back Throw>Command throw>BnB combo
I think there's still some throws you can combo out of. There's a luigi video somewhere in the thread showing you can combo from his down throw at high %. I think it'll depend on characters.
Nah. He ran away like a pussy for the last 20ish seconds to prevent himself from getting KOd.
Don't know why they put a time limit on it if they weren't going to enforce the % rule.
Because Ninentdo can't into a quality tournament ruleset.
But hey, we gotta take what we can get as a community, least they tried and are definitely interested in the competitive smash scene (At least NoA is)
>yfw you realize that even with FD only as the online mode, you will still get a more varied, viable character pool than melee
I guaren-fucking-tee that a year or two in Smash 4's life span a character will emerge that's far worse than either the spacies. Maybe not MK level since no game director can be that retarded to make a character that strong twice
Even sakurai himself has stated he wants to satisfy both crowds, if that wasn't the case he would have made the game exactly like Brawl again.
Even more casual players could feel how shitty Brawl played, and nothing needs to be said about the backlash from the competitive community
Inviting Mango would've been a PR disaster considering his behavior and how he's publicly stated his hatred for not only Brawl but future iterations of Smash.
True, but Sakurai has said he doesn't like the Idea of DLC, so we'll have to see exactly what happens on that front.
I'll probably make a better FOR MY FATHER one at some point and I can combine them. Same with FOR FREEDOM.
No, the Smash game's target demographic is dictated by the userbase of a system.
The Gamecube = targeted advanced players
The Wii = targeted casual players
The Wii U = targets both
Sakurai even says this in a interview.
Go look up on google "Sakurai" "Melee" "Interview"
Yet Dota is mocked because it has RNG. Would you enjoy losing a match just because a random bomb drops in front of your attack ? I don't think so. I enjoy Smash in every way possible but you gotta be kidding me if you think items and stage hazards should be kept even though there is an option to turn them off.
Both sides play the game the way they want and I don't see the point. "whaaa tourneyfags ruin the game"
no, tryhards who wanna be tourneyfags ruin the game. They'll be the ones who demand no items etc when they're just playing with friends because they're too bad to play against actual tourneyfags lol.
I love smash in every way. I play the "tourneyfag" way with friends but can even enjoy brawl with items and all that retarded stuff. I'm very excited for the new smash even if it's not viable for high level play like Melee.
Ever since For Glory mode was announced, /v/ hivemind went contrarian mode again and decided that FD is not simply a poor pick for areal fighters, it's actually completely unused by any of the Smash comp scenes.
Just realize that the people you're talking to aren't actually into the competitive scene, they're just trying to throw a wet blanket on Smash threads.
>let's get rid of all this depth, we can't fuckin stand that in tourneys
>Still believing Items and overly impactful stage hazards=depth
If anything it's the exact opposite, the game would be even more of a joke if shit like Temple was allowed with items on high
