Can we have a Fallout thread. Any Fallout is fine.
Guns are for profligates and degenerates. Melee is the only way to go
i fucking love all of the alien stuff in fallout games. the mothership zeta dlc was a little dissapointing though. it felt short or maybe i just didn't explore enough
>new vegas playing pure melee build
>1 luck because crits are for faggots
>on my way to nipton come across 3 super mutants and come up on a super sledge, minigun and an assault carbine
I mean they were in shit condition, but at least now I don't have to help the profligates in camp searchlight to get knock-knock.
>rights to Fallout 1 and 2 go to Bethesda
>they pull them off Steam for 7 months so they can add a launcher that pops up every time you start the game to remind you that Bethesda owns the rights now
>their changes completely broke Kilap's restoration mod and unofficial patch and the game constantly crashes now
Can you guess explain to me why you hate this one so much?
>Following an NCR team trekking the wastes.
>Legions try to susprise us.
>They charge at us.
>They start chucking peas.
>They all get shot and die
Why use melee in a cowboy game?
Yeah I enjoyed how 3 did that. Once you hit Megaton, which was in the center of the map, you could walk in any direction from it and not have to worry about invisible walls and "You're not supposed to go this way" enemies that just kill you dead.
The one thing it did better than New Vegas.
Because the world is (to me anyway) not fun to navigate. I don't enjoy walking for four hours to get to one place only because I had to guess my way around invisible walls. Not to mention they showed the wasteland way less recuperated than it is in the Core Region and out west.
Super Mutants couldn't exist on the east coast. They are infertile creatures that were created in a Southern California lab that was destroyed hundreds of years prior to when Fallout 3 is set.
I wish all factions sent assassin teams when you reached vilified. Trekking through the wastes when you get attacked by mad bomber powder gangers, or Brotherhood Paladins, or roving bands of kings
Fallout NV was more realistic all around while 3 had a better atmosphere. 3 had way better side quests then NV, but 3 had shitty DLC and main story line. The only thing I hate about the games is 3's speech system and NV being more linear in the beginning part.
>you were a courier for some amount of time, you made some deliveries in the Divide. That's all the character background you have.
And TTW has you replace this with the FO3 character who
>this is your dad, this is your mom
>this is the exact room where you grew up
>these people in 101hated you, these people in 101 didn't hate you
Just because I prefer NV over 3 doesn't mean I hate it.
This fallout nv had iron sights, ammo and different custom guns but the fact that vendors were everywhere meant it never felt post-apocalyptic enough like fallout 3.
New vegas had better dlcs although point look out was breddy gud.
Tie between Graham and Ulysses. Why in the hell does Legion have like 0 memorable characters in the actual faction but all these really fucking amazing people have been cast out of it. Is Caesar retarded?
they'd just be Mormons
>"Excuse me sir, it has come to our attention that you have been deliberately doing selfish acts at the expense of others. We request, no, demand that you cease at once"
I thought Vulpes was pretty interesting just because of the fact that the majority of the Legion atrocities we hear about/see were directly his orders. Dude is so fucked up even Lanius thinks he's nuts.
In what order should the DLCs for NV be played. I just kind of did them when I felt like the first time, and I blazed through them. I'd like to do it proper this time so I can enjoy them.
Was playing FO1, after I finished Gizmo the skulz gang jumped on me in the Crash house, and after I took care of them Killian and the Junkyard guards started attacking me. Was that supposed to happen?
It's something Obsidian does really well in general. I was on the edge of my seat the first time I finally got to the bridge with Darth Nihilus in Kotor 2. Then was very disappointed.
the only thing i really liked about fallout 3 (other than being from DC and recognizing the metros) were the dialogue options. the story was awful, sure, but at least i could be a horrible bitch to everyone about it.
THERE'S A CASINO SO DON'T DO ANYTHING STUPID AND DON'T KILL EACH OTHER BUT SHUT UP AND KILL THE OTHER PEOPLE BUT THEN YOU DIDN'T SO THAT'S COOL AND REMEMBER TO LET GO SINCLAAAAAIIIIRRR
No one's pretending, Dead Money was fun as fuck.
Isn't the Courier the most powerful person in the Mojave (and probably all of Fallout lore) by the time the game is finished? Assuming you side with Yes Man, at least.
>Own an entire city
>Have control over Hoover Dam
>Have control over an entire research station with all the technology that brings
>Including virtually immortal holograms, and possibly the cloud
>Have access to an entire army of Securitrons
That one rifle that was modded into a pistol was muh gun in the first fallout.
The second Fallout the Gauss Rifle was my gun-waifu.
In Fallout 3 I manned up and killed everything with my fists.
In New Vegas in nutted up and overcame my obstacles by being a suave motherfucker, using my silver tongue and my sugar dick to beat the game. I still had to
punch the the death claws to death though
In Fallout Tactics I used a
Death Claw and robot companionto kill my enemies.
>Get amazing new PC
>Wont let me load up my old saves
>Decide to mod the shit out of FNV then
>ENBs, graphics mods, the whole shabang
>Boot it up
>Don't like it anyway
thats his son, not the Chosen one
and to be fair, the Courier also is a Cyborg and has access to the dome
also, he was able to defeat 3(canonically 1) guys with All 10 in special while the Chosen only 1
maybe the Courier is another of the Chosen one sons, i mean Ulysses said you came from the West
I just want it to come out, all I've been waiting on the last few E3's
I cant play Vegas anymore because it crashes in such a way that i cant close the program and the Taskmanager spawns behind it so i have to restart my computer
Fallout 3 and the older ones have no issue so i play them
>tfw no rangers to explore DC with
>no latenight gatherings back at base with Donovan playing guitar
>never ever romancing Reilly after being accepted as a rookie and slowly developing ties with the group
Life is truly suffering
Fallout 3 or NV, no matter which you /think/ is best, we can all just agree that this perk was fucked up.
I know what you mean, happens every time a new FO game comes out.
>Hear about new FO game
>Tell myself that I'm busy with college
>Tell myself I won't have time to properly play and immerse myself in the game
>Become saddened about about the above statements of fact
>Game comes out
>Spend all hours of my free time playing it, exploring, and immersing myself in the world until I absolutely have to study, go to bed, or work.
how about Fallout 2 style Romancing for Fallout 4
>still get NCR duster
My main man here. Next character will be NCR.
well Skyrim has it so Fallout might likely using mannequins
why does Ulysses need to wear the mask?
My NCR character will be patriotic and a lesbian. pic related.
>Make explosives character for the sole purpose to use that old glory rocket launcher in Lonesome Road
>It does unbelievably shit damage
>Normal grenade launchers are shit at end game
>Fatman just gets me killed half the time
Looks like im starting over. How is melee+stealth? Viable?
Yes. But prepare to have a hard time at early levels if you bump Melee early instead of Guns. And assuming you have low EN, you should probably bump Guns first.
But seriously, tmi
Did you exterminate the White Legs or convince the others to leave Zion?
Killed the fuckers my second time around.
First time I told Zion to leave, don't they still attack anyway while your trying to leave?
>have Josh about to lay the smack down on the white legs
>both dialogue options dont allow me to just let him shoot Salt on Wounds
Love and Hate unarmed master race reporting in
>mfw I dropped all apparel/common weapons/misc/basically anything that has weight, swallowed some Buffout, and grabbed like 3 bars I think
I'm basically naked and holding some guns AND gold bars. My immersion boner was killed that day.
I was playing Fallout 1 yesterday and found a crashed nuka cola truck randomly on the map that had 10,000 caps in it.
I also found a Dr. Who Police box and a Godzilla footprint with a guy mushed in the middle. So anyone that says Fallout 1 didn't have it's fair share of random pop culture references compared to 2, can eat a fucking dick.
That's because which duster you receive depends on whether your reputation is higher with the NCR, the Legion or the Strip. Since the NCR is the faction with more quests, that makes it the easiest to get idolized by.
This mod changes the conditions to what faction you're working for in the main quest.
>Why in the hell does Legion have like 0 memorable characters in the actual faction but all these really fucking amazing people have been cast out of it.
Because more than half of the faction was cut
>gets stabbed by a tweaker and everyone forgets Myron made jet
Sunk hours into New Vegas but am only now getting to actual modding
This is what I've got planned so far
>Fook/Project Nevada Convergence
>Realistic Wasteland Lighting
>Breeze/Type 3 Models for Males/Females
>Spice of Life Variety Armor
>Hall of Face
Am I doing it right? Anything important I'm missing for a first modded playthrough? Or am I putting too much.
Any advice would be great.
How does New Vegas Compare to 3? I bought it on steam a long time ago but never got around to it. I loved 3, but I've heard that it's quite different from NV.
I'm having problems and it seems some object origins are not where they should be
so goddamn close to implementing this into the game, only reason why Im working with the GM is because the more human like shape
If you're really only going to play one I would recommend NV over 3. They're both good in their own ways though. It's just kind of hard to play both in succession as gameplay wise they are pretty similar.
You're gonna hear a lot of shit about either of them, but personally, man, they're both just great games. Don't compare them, just enjoy them.
If you liked 3 there's really zero reason to not like new vegas. NV improves on the gameplay while adding an actually good story this time, and of course giving you a bigger world to explore and do stuff in.
What's the best New Vegas DLC? I only have Honest Hearts, it was okay but I didn't like how forced the exploration felt. "go get lunch boxes out of a broken down bus way over there, then go get more supplies way over here"
Then comes in new vegas and Issac says Bishop is in charge. I was a little hurt
What if in Fallout 4 you end up as the Courier's and Lucy's love child
>Your father disappeared after Hoover Dam was taken
>The only thing you have him to remember by is his rusty Eyebot
>mfw Beth added character import on FO4
BACKSTORIES ANON. GODDAMN POTENTIALS
They're all pretty good.
Dead Money is super punishing and desperate(almost annoyingly so at times) and it has a great cast of characters who all play into the setting and themes really well. Narratively, my favorite out of all of them.
Old World Blues seems like a fan favorite. Has great exploration and loot, as well as an awesome new player home and some funny NPCs and easter eggs all over the place. Storywise, it's alright I guess. Nothing worth writing home about.
Lonesome Road ends the story arc hinted at throughout all the DLCs and is meant to be a climax to your personal story. It's somewhat linear with secrets and other things hidden off the beaten path, but it has great unique armor and weapons as well as a pretty cool antagonist and companion. Depending on the ending you choose, it can open up two new locations to explore in the Mojave which have more unique armor sets.
They're all worth playing at one point or another.
>haven't played new vegas in months
>about to start it up with the bug fixes, patches, performance boosts, graphical settings.
>still no gameplay mods
Fuck should I install?
I'd recommend Realistic Weapons Damage and that one mod that adds the Fallout 1, 2, & Tactics weapons if you want more shit in the game, but other than than, you should be fine.
Are you saying you've never killed anyone in a videogame who wasn't hostile to you? Stop being retarded, they're videogames.
You can literally nuke the entire town of Megaton, including all of its children, and it's okay, but you're arbitrarily not allowed to directly shoot a kid because muh innocence.
If you nuke the Legion and NCR it opens up new locations for both of them. The NCR one opens up the Long 15 at the Mojave Outpost, and the Legion one opens up the Twisted Hair's camp at Cottonwood Cove. You can nuke both of them in the same ending, but it fucks up your rep with a bunch of factions for essentially ending the world again.
Well I, like most vidya players who have played for more than 3 RPGs, have. What are you going to do about?
It undermines your terrible argument that murdering children is especially evil because they're non-hostile (which is not always true) when you're already easily able to murder non-hostile adults.
Well, neither am I. It's just an optional thing you can do. If they don't adhere to the same rules all other NPCs do I feel they shouldn't be in the game at all.
Does NV have kids? I don't think it does. But Skyrim and FO3 do and it was dumb.
But the fact that you can actually kill them in DX1 and 2 is a pretty cool and ballsy thing they did, however pointless it really is.
There's a difference bwteen killing irl and in a video game, definitely, but that doesn't make it not a bad thing.
I don't even understand what you want out of this.
>Murder in general is wrong.
So now you're saying it's wrong to murder in general, irl or in vidya. So I take it you've never murdered anyone, child or adult, hostile or not, in a videogame? Unless you're a dirty immoral hypocrite, amirite?
You misinterpreted what I said. No, killing children in a video game is not near the same as doing it in real life, but that doesn't mean that killing children in videogames is not a bad thing just because it's not equal to real life.
Do you even know what you think? It seems like every post you make, you slightly tweak your own position.
Let's compare your first post
>You're a twisted individual if you think killing children [in Deus Ex] isn't some of the most fucked up shit.
To your backpedalled position
>No, killing children in a video game is not near the same as doing it in real life, but that doesn't mean that killing children in videogames is not a bad thing just because it's not equal to real life.
I thought it was the some of the most fucked up shit? Now it's just 'not a bad thing'. A few more posts and it'll be equivalent to not going to church!
Let's see your collection. I don't think you're lying, I think you're just too dumb to know what you're saying.
Joshua Fucking Graham
In that order
>Any Fallout is fine.
It's nice to know some people aren't ass blasted retards.
That being said I hate both nv and fo3, and loved 1 and 2 as a kid but they've aged like shit.
But I did enjoy scurrying around the dc ruins and the dc metro like a rat, that was fun, even if it wasn't really fallout.
You seem to only be reading bits and pieces. I said that killing children is some of the most fucked up shit. I also said that killing children in a game is not completely equal to that of doing it in real life, but it's all still fucked up shit.
And which collection I got physical and downloaded games so I'd have to get two images for ya.
Trying to play F2 right now. Just found the missing people in Broken Hills. Where can I buy more shotgun ammo for Cassidy and how do I give it to him? Also I try to go to V15 or NCR but I get WRECKED on the way there. Every encounter is death. What am I doing wrong?
I'll look at my games folder and list the ones with the ability to murder non-hostile humans/animals
>Die by the Sword
>Star Control 2
>TW Medieval 2
>Ultima Underworld 1
>Ultima Underworld 2
I suppose I'm an evil bastard and you've chosen to abstain?
>Says anyone with a straight up moral code.
18+ site, kid.
Dude, I got nothing against the games you play, I'd only have something against you if you wanted the ability to murder children in video games or if you enjoyed murder in general.
>straight up moral code.
Come on, the only reasoning for fictional murder being morally wrong is using the same line of logic as 'rape culture': the fact that media is allowed to show it *might* mean that society becomes a bit more comfortable with it so *maybe* it will increase the rate of actual rape/murder.
Which is ironic because that's the same line of argument as the evil, barbarian conservatives who immorally restrict our freedom to be ourselves (in the interest of a healthy society). You gotta choose one or the other, but keep in mind, if you choose the latter, you're an evil nazi.
Dude, I'm not saying any of that. I'm just saying that it's fucked up. Is it gonna make people more comfortable with murder? Probably not, that's ridiculous in most cases. If you're okay with murder, you were fucked up before videogames.
>step into megaton for the first time
>quite amazed, very well designed little shithole
>burke offers to pay me if I blow up this shithole
>fuck no, moria lives here, and her sunny disposition is the only thing that keeps me going
>decide to tell the sherif about this
>we go bust him, feel really cool, like a deputy
>burke blows his brain out
>I am in shock
>he walks off
>i fumble for a weapon but it's too late, the shock fucked me up
>scrounge around the town for 2 hours trying to find him, nothing
>decide to go about my business
>that fucking sherif's son
Between all of fo3 and fonv that moment hit me the deepest emotionally
Doing my first melee character run in Fallout 1 and holy shit is this ever great, maybe too easy. I had a much harder time small guns and I've pretty always made characters that revolve around guns in one shape or another. What huge mistake. I took down the Mama Deathclaw with a supersledge by repeatedly targeting her right leg until it was crippled and she could only move 3 tiles per turn. The I started swinging for it's eyes and moving away 4 tiles. All in all, way easier, maybe too easy, and you don't have to dick around with ammo which is nice for once.
Melee, throwing(grenades) and gambling. What a great combo.
Stop employing slippery slope. Just because I think murder in vidya is perfectly okay doesn't mean I think murder in real life is okay.
I don't think media should be censored, I don't think the "rape culture" argument has been substantiated with any evidence (it could just as easily bend the other way as a "safe outlet" for violent impulses rather than a "murderer trainer"). And if you don't believe in that argument, then there's no clear, rational justification for the idea that murder in media should be considered immoral. And if there's no clear, rational justification for that ethical position, why cling to it? Why project it onto your judgement of others? You're an idiot.
>I'm just saying it's fucked up
Without actually considering for a second why you think that.
> If you're okay with murder, you were fucked up before videogames.
Nobody here is okay with actual murder. We just don't imagine murder in videogames has anything to do with murder in real life. There's murder in painting, in movies, in boardgames, it has never mattered. It's not real murder, and it's probably more dangerous when you start dissolving the boundary between fictional actions and actual actions like you've been doing this whole argument; if anything's going to cause videogames to lead to actual murder, it'll stem from that.
>not knowing the lore to fo3
>What ENB? I want to see how it looks without all that blur.
Its called DoF.
>16 action points
good christ, I'm going to try and make a proximity of him for Fallout 2 when I start in a few hours after I finish 1. I've never played an unarmed character in the classic Fallout games either and 2 has a lot more options in that department.
Let me simplify without sounding like I'm implying anything. Do you watch murder in movies and in art and not think much of it? Neither do I, fine citizen! Do you want the ability to murder children in videogames? I, sir, do not share this idea because I think that's fucked up. Do I or you believe that murder in videogames is the same as or leads to murder in real life? No, my good sir. i am not judging you nor do I think that your opinion is wrong, I simply believe murder is fucked up.
super mutants were made in a vault in the west coast and in the east coast
Not him but it happens so damn fast I just assumed his death was scripted. I reloaded at least ten times in Honest Hearts trying to save the caravan team and did NOT want to go through that again.
>Do you watch murder in movies and in art and not think much of it?
Thinking about it isn't the same as considering it fucked up. They joke about murder all the time, yes, even in fine art. Look: a lance right through the fucking asshole. Nobody but soccer mom's are dumb enough to think it's fucked up, it's just delusional, it's a part of everyday life and history that murder, rape, theft, lying has appeared ubiquitously in media. How vulgar or shocking its displayed is another story, but the fact is that it's there.
I think you're just an insulated idiot who hasn't been exposed to enough culture - enough videogames as well as enough books, movies, art and especially not enough ethics. There's nothing more to say, if you still can't agree, you're a stubborn on top of stupid.
Yeah, I just went up to Kane and killed him in three shots. Unfortunately for him I have powered armor and a super sledge. He did do a bit of damage to me though but unfortunately for him I am also jinxed so he critically missed and lost his next turn but it's not a big deal because he's dead. I could see this guy being a pain though if you weren't at end game equipment and level wise.
I know now but I just couldn't believe it on my first run. They all have so much damn character when you talk to them at the happy trails entrance, but then less than a minute into the DLC they just permanently die.
Being a large part of history and everyday life doesn't make it any less fucked up. Does it happen a lot? Yes, sadly. Does that mean it's not a terribly fucked up fact? Nope. Still fucked up.
>tfw can't complete a quest because asshole raiders ran off the map
You can save the sherif, it's actually quite the complex event. If you save him before burke draws his gun he yells at you and you get nothing.
If you save him after burke draws his gun he thanks you and rewards you.
There's only about a 1.5 second gap where you can save him and get the reward.
I have NMC's... the crashes aren't happening at new cells. Once a raider attacked me from the back with a melee weapon and it immediately crashed, once I was dropping some raider armor from my inventory and it crashed as soon as I got out of the pip boy.
Ive bought and played operation anchorage 3 times just for the suit and the gauss rifle
(second playthrough for the sword and the stealthsuit)
I just downloaded fo3 a week ago,im on pointlook out its really worth the money
i played newvegas for 3hours before i realized it sucked
Playing through 2 now.
Currently in Broken Hills, just cleared out a base of raiders.
My niggas Sulik Vic and Cassidy forming a murder posse.
It's great when they aren't shooting each other accidentally.
when I get to turning the gundam into in game armor to reflect the fact luna titanium was stupidly strong the armor's DT will be atleast 40+
ultimately I hope to incorporate vision modes from PN into the helmets if I get that far and I'll be looking into porting the weapons into new vegas
get PN and FOOK and grab the PN-FOOK convergance patch, follow the readme to the letter and you sohuld be fine
but basically the convergance patch adds shit from FOOK and PN and makes it run nice and stable like
The problem is that he really doesn't show any sort of skills that would imply he'd be able to govern a civilization. He can spy and lie and fear monger all day long, but the leader of a nation has to be able to do so much more.
I started NV about 4 or 5 days ago. I'm up to Freeside but I stopped when the robot asked me a credit check. Am I ready to enter Vegas yet? Level 20 and roughly 70k caps from obsessively going back and forth between vendors and dead enemies to sell everything. Specialised in conventional guns with Cass and Rex as my companions.
Download Nexus Mod Manager, find a mod you like, and hit the big green button that says "download with manager"
That's it, that's all you have to do with the majority of the NV mods. Some mods require a script extender but the installation instructions are ridiculously simple.
So who has or knows of some dank Fallout fanart? There's not enough of it around.
Fuck, please tell me I'm getting rused. Having so much fun exploring and hoarding supplies. Someone told me to get Raul as a companion in another thread but I haven't met him yet and ghouls are nasty.
How could I balance my push mod more?
Also what features could I add?
Also suggest more gameplay changes to me. I'm a good scripter, just don't suggest anything that requires models/textures/animations.
I feel sorry for them and generally I treat them nicer than the wasteland asshole personality I use with regular humans but I don't want to look at one every time I turn around.
The Doctor(Doctor Who), Black Samurai, going to start an old southern ex-slaver who despises the NCR soon.
Just two, basically the same person. It's hard to roleplay as anyone in 3.
It was on an old computer. Besides he didn't really look like any incarnation of The Doctor, it's too hard with Gamebryo. So my idea was that 9 crash landed in NV and had to regenerate into an alternate 10.
Pacifist, except against robots. 100 lockpick ASAP. Medium science. High speech, low-medium energy weapons. I carried the plasma pistol all the time because it kind of resembles one of the tools he uses on the show called a Sonic Screwdriver, that part would be optional though.
Best habit, especially when you quicksave in a situation that you can't possible get out of.
It only becomes a legitimate problem in some games, one run of deus ex sets me back about 700 mb in saves.
Yeah, but it's really annoying to me how you can't just name your save slot and be done with it. (You could do that in Morrowind)
I hate having a list of Save #1293, Save #1292, Save #1291. You get the idea.
so close, baby steps, by the end of this week GM armor should be in the game, I just need someone who can colour in textures while I work on the armors
my roadmap is baby steps early on
get armor in game
get armor+helmet in game
get helmet+armor+legs+arms in game
get textures in game
repeat first 4 phases with other suits
integrate visor modes?
only thing I hate is how retarded blender's camera is and how none of the tutorials are for that build, but I'm almost there
Please /v/, I want to play this again, give me a tip on how I should play it
Spent the day playing a new game of Fallout 3 GOTY on my
PS3 since I had to swap something with TDU2 when I took it back to Gamestop for very literally being unplayable.Just having fun doing the usual wasteland exploring and raider murdering when I accidentally come across the Outcasts. Decide to take this chance to get Anchorage out of the way because hey, power armor, why not?
Everything went fine until the towns.
If you've played Operation Anchorage on consoles, you know why.
>Playing a double agent
>Do mission for Cesear
>NCR never saw me
>Nobody knows what I did
>NCR infamy gained
Everyone complains about Three Dog in 3 always knowing what you're doing but this is the exact same shit. Hurr durr don't tread on the bear even though you were deliberately fucking up all of Ceasar's missions.
